Although I am sure that Amjad Bashir is absolutely genuine in his condemnation of ISIS and it’s alleged atrocities and in his calls for all Muslims to condemn these actions, one has to question the wisdom of calling Islam a “religion of peace”. This latter statement is highly controversial and one which an independent and academic analysis would reveal as lacking credibility. It would have been much better if he had just left it at expressing his own condemnation and exhorting others to follow suit.
