The future of Europe, citizens’ rights and the recovery from the economic crisis were among topics discussed at a Citizens’ Dialogue with European Commission Vice-President Viviane Reding, UK Europe Minister David Lidington and around 400 people in London on 10 February 2014.
This video shows extracts from the debate, focussing on immigration and political union. Other topics discussed included economic growth, employment, IT, equality, disability policy and human rights.
Viviane Reding doesn’t think that a debate around membership of the EU is happening in Britain. With our media and House of Commons ringing with the cacophonous sounds of Europhile voices, she has a point. Not, perhaps, the one she was trying to make though.
