Young Independence membership has hit a record high of 2,569 this week. This is fantastic news for the party as we continue to grow across all demographics in society. We have seen an increase of over 700 members since the start of March this year when this Council was elected. For three years now we have been the fastest growing youth wing of any political party and in the last year we managed to double our membership.
It is important that we now boost engagement within YI as it is great having a large and growing membership but unless we are actively getting involved we are missing out. One of the ways we are looking to do this is to set up county branches across the whole of the UK. These will be responsible for organising action days in their area, and getting UKIP speakers into local schools amongst other things. If you would like to become a county chairman please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will pass on your details.
There are many other ways you can help out, whether that’s setting up a university society or becoming a branch rep. Please get in touch by email or call me on 07926101528.
On the 2nd of August we will be holding our biggest ever annual Conference in Birmingham. There will be a training day the day before as well to empower members to stand in elections going forward. Some of the speakers we have announced so far are Tim Aker UKIP’s Head of Policy, Thomas Hoof YI Deputy Chairman, Suzanne Evans UKIP’s Community Spokesman, David Coburn UKIP Scotland MEP, Jill Seymour MEP, Dan Jukes YI Elections Officer, Raheem Kassam Managing Editor Breitbart London and Michael Heaver Former YI Chairman.
