UKIP GLOUCESTERSHIRE PROSPECTIVE PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATES AND BRANCH CHAIRMEN RESIGN EN MASSE
At emergency meetings of all six county branches of UKIP Gloucestershire in Gloucester and in the Cotswolds this evening (Thursday 25th April) senior UKIP officials in Gloucestershire expressed their grave concerns about the adoption of YouTuber Carl Benjamin, also known as Sargon of Akkad, as one of UKIP’s two lead candidates for the South West region, which includes Gloucestershire, in the forthcoming EU Parliamentary Elections should these be held on Thursday 23rd May.
Mr Benjamin, who joined UKIP only in December 2018, is known for having courted controversy with his social media history, included a rape tweet to Labour MP Jess Phillips which UKIP Leader Gerard Batten has dismissed as mere “satire”.
Commented Richard Ford, who sits on UKIP’s ruling National Executive Committee and is South West Regional Chairman as well as being the Chairman of UKIP Gloucester and the city’s UKIP Prospective Parliamentary Candidate :
“Many of us here in Gloucestershire have been growing increasingly concerned and uneasy for some time at the direction in which Gerard Batten is moving the party. Things first came to a head last December in a motion of no confidence at the party’s NEC over Mr Batten’s increasing association of both himself and the party with the EDL founder Tommy Robinson. This was after Mr Batten had defied the express will of the NEC to distance itself and UKIP from this association.
Now Mr Batten seems to have gone one stage further and promoted and endorsed the adoption of controversial YouTuber Carl Benjamin, Sargon of Akkad as one of the party’s lead candidates for the South West region in the forthcoming EU Parliamentary Elections, which are currently scheduled to take place on Thursday 23rd May.
All that these associations have done is to distract UKIP’s focus and attention away from Brexit at a key time for our country, when the Conservative government under Theresa May’s failing and chaotic leadership is just not delivering the result of the Referendum at which people voted nearly three years ago, and the Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn is not offering any real alternative .
We need to focus urgently on the Brexit which the British people and the people of Gloucestershire voted for nearly three years ago, and therefore I am writing to inform the Party Chairman that I am resigning from all my UKIP offices with immediate effect. I believe The Brexit Party now offers the only realistic hope of achieving the exit from the European Union for which a majority of the British people voted in 2016 .”
Christina Simmonds, the UKIP Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Cheltenham, who was also UKIP’s Parliamentary Candidate in Cheltenham in the 2015 General Election said :
“I have been unhappy for a while that the UKIP leaders have shifted their focus from ensuring the delivery of a meaningful Brexit, by debating the issues, to obsessing about personalities. UKIP had clear membership rules, which it seems are ignored when they appear to be inconvenient, or out of line with what the leadership wants to do (ironically rather like the EU itself). In these circumstances, therefore, I and many of my senior colleagues, as well as rank and file members of UKIP here in Gloucestershire, are left with little alternative but to resign from UKIP with immediate effect .”
In addition to Mrs Simmonds and Mr Ford, UKIP’s Gloucestershire County Chairman and Stroud Chairman Stuart Love, Cotswolds Chairman and 2015 and 2017 Parliamentary Candidate Chris Harlow and Forest of Dean Chairman Averil Summers will also be tendering their resignations, as will many other County branch officials.
These resignations will mean that all six UKIP Gloucestershire Branch Chairmen, and all three currently adopted Prospective Parliamentary candidates, as well as the County Chairman and South West Regional Chairman, have now resigned.
~~~ OOO ~~~
With membership rising no one can say that UKIP is finished. On the contrary UKIP is the most exciting development in British politics. I take Martin Crutwell’s opinion about the future of political parties but we haven’t reached that point yet. Until we do UKIP is in comparison to the LibLabCon Party, and others, young and full of potential. Why? Because they are open, not rigid and frigid like the others. The potential is there and with imagination and perseverance it will light up the way in the future.
MSM? If I were the Leader I would ban ANY dealings with the BBC and literally walk out of any interview with other companies that showed bigotry and nastiness in tone or subject in questioning. That would probably dismiss the rest of them. It is about time we ditched the MSM and had a little more self-respect by not putting up with their behaviour. It is a bit like jumping in at the deep end and learning to swim. You will learn or drown. In the end they (the MSM) will start realising they are not in charge or they will start to cease being the MSM as they will be barred from debate with the only party that has a real future in British politics.
That may sound a bit too radical for some but we really can’t have this continual fear of the MSM. Find other ways!
UKIP must send in people to support the true UKIPers in Gloucester so that they can reform and function. Good luck to the people who left and when UKIP is still here and Nigel’s Brexit party has gone, I am sure you will be welcomed back. Maybe.
Incidentaly I loved Colin Thurlow’s comment and it nearly stopped me commenting because he had said what I wanted. But there was no reply button for him.
We ALL need to remember the many undecided voters. Most of them WON’T have done their research, or watched videos explaining soundbites in context etc.
The sheeple will recall what rightly or wrongly the tv and papers allege.
In the ballot booth, with a long list of mostly unknown parties and candidates, they will start by asking “who can/should I rule out”? And we WILL suffer due to this… ?
Oh come on, Gloucestershire virtuous fainthearts, and Rob, you know full well that Gerard is not obsessing with Tommy Robinson – this rests fairly and squarely with you and our corrupt MSM and the Establishment.
Gerard’s first, last and foremost OBSESSION is to get us out the EU and I firmly believe he will play a big part in doing go.
You must also know that Nigel Farage is not going to deliver Brexit from the comfort of the Brussels gravy train.
Like Gerard, Tommy Robinson is a man of great courage and determination. They both get my vote any day of the week.
Sure they do – and I’m not criticising you for anything in the above post – BUT, the uneducated sheeple voter WON’T see it that way in the ballot box. And bluntly, I want their votes!
These next few weeks will be interesting,let us see what happens.
Firstly we have local elections where hopefully UKIP can make great gains as it is the only real pro Brexit party standing ( reading comments pages there are lots of voters wanting to vote UKIP but with no candidates….not Gerard’s fault as there are 3 times as many candidates than the last local elections)….as there is a voter rebellion happening UKIP will be on the front foot.
May will lose again in getting her dire deal through.
European elections follow,ok The Farage Party looks like it will do well,but be that it is proportional representation in the vote where will all those voters put their second choice party…could they stomach the three tired dubious duplicitous parties or UKIP…
In 4 weeks time there could be an entirely different political landscape on which to debate
One of the many problems I have forgotten to include in my article warning on the Party system and the Corruption of our Constituion (www.cravenfreedom.com) is that as a “collective” you can be smeared or discredited by association. There are so many ways that the party system can be disrupted and years of efforts destroyed.
I will try once more to explain what is wrong. The party system is the revolution against our legal constitution and its separation of powers. It collectivises responsibility which is why it is so dangerous. No matter which NEW party comes on the scene to beguile you the EFFECT on the constitution is exactly the same.
Alarm bells should have rung when Farage said he wanted to sweep it all away instead of restore it to proper working order!! A VOTE FOR ANY party is a transfer of power from you to them and no guarantee they will honour the pledge. The whole party system is geared to prevent honesty prevailing.. Get real.
I do hope that this ‘mass resignation’ includes the half-wit Martin Costello?
The only thing that UKIP ‘obsesses’ about is LeavEU –
We have the Local Elections on 2nd may – are the Gloucester group standing in the as Brexit Party I wonder?
I think Deidre has posted this Sargon-Sky News link before, but it’s certainly worth posting again:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oq_7-cQvisI
I think Carl’s control of the interview, and his performance in general, was excellent.
Added below is the actual Sky clip broadcast of the interview:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfRffGdeXDg
I think, particularly in respect of Gerard Batten and Carl Benjamin, it’s pretty obvious that UKIP Gloucestershire don’t know good players when they see them!
Personally, I’m very thankful that they’re both on our team.
HK,
Could not agree more, if anything I do believe that this self pruning will prove in the long run to be beneficial to the party.
Just a suggestion!
I’ve watched a number of You Tube videos of Sargon and have reached the opinion that he seems a very intelligent chap and an articulate, calm speaker. Perhaps, his on screen language is a bit on the strong side for me, but he appears to say what he believes with courage. His response to – the IMHO horrible – Jess Phillips may have been an angry spur of the moment decision. It wasn’t something I would have put into print or speech but must admit I’ve thought words in my mind far worse than that to people I despise and if many of his detractors were honest, so have they.
I’m not sure that as a newish joiner, Carl Benjamin should be the lead candidate. It didn’t go down well when Farage and his gang booted out the Parliamentary candidates to make way for Reckless and Carswell without much consultation, and I’m disappointed with Gerard saying he thought the comment to Phillips was satire, Benjamin IMO was just being his brutally honest self. However, Gerard has done wonders for UKIP. Those that disagree with his leadership will soon have the opportunity to vote for a leader that they prefer, so it’s a shame some have left.
JF,
I do agree with mst of our post but differ in so far as I believe it is for the best they do leave as with their mindset I would rather have them out than in.
Carl Benjamin is sadly learning the hard way on how the media operate when it comes to smearing people. It appears the ‘rape tweet’ that everyone is getting so upset about has been taken out of context.
He explains this in an interview with KipperCentral: https://kippercentral.com/2019/04/23/exclusive-carl-benjamin-talks-culture-politics-his-quest-to-become-an-mep/
Considering how much abuse Jess Phillips claims she gets, as well as the death threats and rape threats, if someone tells her “I wouldn’t rape you” that should be taken as a compliment. Jess Phillips was my MP three years and she is an awful MP.
I don’t use Twitter myself, and I’m glad I don’t, it seems like another reality there.
As for UKIP Gloucestershire, well if they want to up sticks and go back The Brexit Party then that’s their choice. I’m tired of hearing this same old tired nonsense about how Gerard Batten and UKIP have lost focus on Brexit, being too busy ‘obsessing over Tommy Robinson and Islam’. These people have actually created this narrative, or are at least perpetuating someone else’s narrative, all the while designed to disrupt and damage UKIP. Its always ironic that the people who spout this nonsense then strangely end up joining Nigel Farage…
There’s always a chance that UKIP might do badly at these European Elections, but lets face it, who really cares? And what difference would it make anyway?
Farage is spouting a lot of rhetoric at the moment, but just peel back the onion, and see that all this rhetoric is just a repeat of 2014 all over again. UKIP did brilliantly at the 2014 MEP elections, and while they did help to secure the referendum, did they really change politics and have they been able to deliver Brexit? So what chance does The Brexit Party have of doing the same?
Very valid points Stuart.
Yep I agree with Stuart
Putting a label on someone and dismissing them is wrong,
whether it is with the N-word or the R-word “racist” or S-word “sexist” etc.
Yet that is what the other 8 parties do
An honourable party should treat all types equally & have due process, not tantrums.
If you believe in whitesupremacism, greensupremacism, redsupremacism, liberalsupremacism
.. then you should be in another party, not UKIP
The story has a big title, but who resigned ?
– Richard Ford who has 4 job-titles
– Christina Simmonds, Cheltenham MP candidate
– Stroud Chairman Stuart Love,
– Cotswolds Chairman and 2015 and 2017 Parliamentary Candidate Chris Harlow
– Forest of Dean Chairman Averil Summers
So that is 5 plus possibles… “as will many other County branch officials.”
It is not true that Sargon refuses interviews
Sky did an edited 7 mi hit job 2 days ago and yesterday Sargon’s team put up the full hour on Twitter
.. a few hours later the Twitter account was suspended
Brilliant post Stuart and excellent analysis. If the corrupt MSM and equally corrupt Establishment cannot find anything to smear us with, they will make it up and they will ALWAYS take it out of context. We just have to stand up to them. No grovelling apologies and no backing down.
Sargon is a more than a breath of fresh air, he is a whirlwind with his mischievous and provocative satire and his determination to embrace free speech – remember THAT? He makes Nigel look like a tired old hypocrite who has become a ‘useful idiot ‘ for Remainers and Parliamentary snakes alike. He may fool some of the people some of the time, but ……. he and his band of phoney celebrities and cowards are NOT going to deliver Brexit, how CAN they?!
And for the record, Gerard is gaining a great deal of respect and admiration from the people who MATTER for his courage in addressing crucially important issues the Government and the MSM wish to ignore and censure; issues which impact heavily and adversely on innocent citizens, making their lives miserable. Bravo Gerard!
I will counter that nonsense, I’ve been a member of UKIP for 12 years
Nigel had my support, then left and allowed the party to collapse. Not a mention, not A Vote UKIP, not a sale of signed merchandise, the only times mentioned were in criticism.
We were about to be declared bankrupt when Gerard took over. I believe those using the nonsense about Tommy Robinson etc are using it as an excuse,
I will resign from the party and withdraw thousands in donations Gerard is forced out.
Well said Carl. Perhaps the people who have resigned are still resentful that Gerard was not ungratefully unseated by the infamous, failed, (Nigel supported?), vote of no confidence at the NEC last December.
CD,
I followed Farage for years when he resigned I did feel physically sick, then we entered the dark period.
I was at the EGM on the 17th Feb when we gave bolton the hard word, IMO bolton was a farage conduit giving nigel a rhetorical route for input.
I did come away from Birmingham with a feeling of elation having Gerard Batten as leader and have had no regrets since.
To my mind what really triggered farage and his Pearl Harbour type attack on Gerard / party was
the GB / TR personal advisor link, he can see the potential power the party has.
The farage now has his true colours showing regarding UKIP and his use / abuse tactics and many are recognising that fact.
Personally I would have Tommy in the party tomorrow because in my mind before the day is out we are going to be needing a great many more Tommy Robinsons.
Likewise Carl – Gerard is the best thing that has ever happened to UKIP and I can’t contemplate it without him.
Nigel, ironically, has become UKIP’s biggest enemy!
It is really annoying to have your details remembered for future use, and yet every time you wish to post a comment you have to retune all your details. Can someone in moderation do something about this please
I’m sorry you find putting your details in aggravating, however, he comments facility is what it is. We had worse …
We do not want to use disqus for obvious reasons. We looked and trialled several different comments programmes which fit with the wordpress site. This was the smoothest. It works for many blogs and bloggers.
So, I’m sorry but you have to put up with it.
Anjela, could it be you are using a program to clear your browser cache ? I did that and I had to re-enter it (one time) recently. Or that you are using your browser in Incognito mode? These could be the reason the browser forgets who you are each time.
Why are we doing this to ourselves??? Both Tommy Robinson and Carl Benjamin would have brought new members in their thousands to UKIP. I don’t know a lot about CB but I know a good deal about TR and to my mind, he is an amazing man — tough, determined and resilient against TPTB. OK, he is no public school boy, just a rough, tough Luton boy, an organiser, a leader and a patriot. Is Gloucestershire being just plain snobbish – ? If so, go on then, push off, join the Brexit Party if you dare and on your head be it if we are caged in the European Dictatorship, for who knows what Nigel Farage will do next — leave his current party stranded before the Count?
Let’s put it this way: if Gerard is defeated in the next Leadership Election in spite of what he has done, and tried to do for UKIP, or refuses to stand (and I wouldn’t blame him, with all mud that is being thrown at him), and if Tommy decides to start a new party — I’ll join!
And Rob, I’m surprised and disappointed at what you say in your letter above. Very.
Sonya
S,
Very good post, I am in total agreement.
How very predictable. We as UKIP need to stand strong with Gerard. Why are people yet again creating waves and destroying our chances.
UKIP has a habit of infighting when we begin to win. We always hand a golden egg to the media. Carl Be Jami. Is squeaky clean and a very articulate speaker. He is bringing in many working class and disaffected you get voters. His meets and greets around Swindon and Bristol have gone viral. He is a typical Kipper in that he will not be pushed into a corner.
He is not controversial in the sense that Tommy May be to some. Yet these silly people think by walking away they are doing us no harm. They are in fact doing the utmost harm and the media will go to town. Why don’t they use their brains and look up the ‘tweet’ and it’s background.
I am beginning to wonder if some officers will never be satisfied to let the leader lead. I am in despair and wonder if they have planned this through their love of Nigel. We seem to be very unlucky with loyalty at management level
Agreed.
Angela I hadnt thought of the fact that these people making waves might actually have a ‘Nigel’ agenda – you could be right. Because many of us are certain that Nigel has tried to kill UKIP off for a long time. Let’s just be positive, as someone commented, the remaining saboteurs are being weeded out! That is ultimately all to the good.
AK,
For that very reason, we are standing strong, the way it has been for 25 plus years through a
blitzcrieg of hate / smear, moles, etc, and not only still standing but gaining ground on all fronts.
While Gerard Batten is leader I will support him and vote UKIP.
Carl Benjamin : Jess Phillips who sniggered at male suicide being discussed in parliament .
It seems that this sexist woman, can dish it out..but cannot take it .
Please see here: https://www.altnewsmedia.net/news/jess-phillips-in-her-own-words/
T.R: Does Gerard have any real “Political” links to sever ?
I have supported Tommy and I do not believe him to be a racist.
Questions really do need to be asked about his treatment while in prison.
Please see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-Umjrnrp2s
I save my “contempt” for the msm who lie and suppress news that does not fit their agenda,
and for Parliament and the HoL .
TBP: Not one bit of me has any respect or trust for Nigel Farage or his party.
Maybe this is “contempt”.
I WARNED about ‘Sargon’ and co ages ago. No one listened.
What were your misgivings? The man is a normal human being. He doesn’t follow the political correctness agenda. But then neither do most working class people. He is squeaky clean. He hasn’t broken any laws. He hasn’t abused anyone. He is articulate, well read and measured in his thoughts. His meet and greets have been a huge success around Swindon and Bristol.
Please enlighten on why you think he is not right for UKIP
Good luck Anjela, Kev won’t give an answer to that cos I don’t think he knows. He just hates anyone in UKIP that the ‘press’ can pounce on.
UKIP still has a large proportion of old guard Faragists. Funny thing is, in the old days kippers were proud of being non-PC, but apparently not any more.
Rob. Get real. Any wannabe politician in the public eye CANNOT use language like ‘N****r’ ‘Ch*nk’ ‘F*g’ or ‘R*tard’ no matter how ‘funny’ they think it is.
I don’t hate UKIP, UKIP has a leader who will not listen to reason and who cannot admit he is wrong. It’s childish.
Gerard just can’t admit on these subjects that he is plain wrong. It’s a shame, as he has many qualities.
‘Sargon’ , like most of the current crop, are in it for the money. IT”S ALL ABOUT SELF-ENRICHMENT.
IT’S A RACKET.
They are all taking the p*ss.
Mr Bav, I have watched the changes in UKIP and firstly I have to say that we owe Nigel a great deal in this country. I hope we never forget that in the future whatever he does. However, I am now 70 and conservative (with a small c). I see around me older people who are very patriotic and wish the best for their country as well. Most of our age group is ‘tied’ into doing things politically in a steady way. Works most times, as Nigel has shown.
Things have changed in the world and this is no longer just about the UK and the EU. It is about the people’s fight for democracy in the western world. All around us we see most of our leaders of the ‘free world’ going the wrong way and a move away from democracy. Democracy is in danger and we must fight to restore it to the people of this country and other western nations. Most of the ‘leaders’ in the western world have forgotten that they should do the people’s bidding in a democracy.
Gerrard, in my opinion is right to ‘allow’ UKIP to move to a more radical stance and we need younger astute people versed in the modern way of thinking and doing. Carl summed it up on a video when he said to a news reporter “I reach 5 million followers, how many do you have ?” He followed up with calling the MSM “you dirty, dirty smear merchants” – and he was right wasn’t he, to show no respect to the MSM who are obviously in someone’s pocket ?
UKIP under Gerrard, is looking to the future where democracy will need intelligent people like the new flush of younger people like Carl, Tommy (not UKIP of course) and many others, fighting for their country and they and others will encourage the youth to fight as well. There are many other groups around the world doing the same thing.
I look forward to Katie Price joining ?
MB,
Good thing we didn’t then a ?
Oh great! Just as I re-join UKIP this happens! What planet are these people on? I listened to the full interview with Sargon/Sky Journalist today – he was excellent – patient, measured, intelligent and exactly what UKIP needs to be putting out, because it’s what people nowadays, except the permanently offended brigade, want to hear.
https://youtu.be/Oq_7-cQvisI
Here is the full version, well worth a listen.
Since when was UKIP a home for the Politically Correct?
Or has my return jinxed the Party?
I very much hope a years subscription plus donation hasn’t been money wasted!
Deirdre,
A very warm welcome back to you.
How apt that you rejoin just as some pc, msn lapping up, not moral enough to check actual facts, happy to slander types decided to self weed themselves out 🙂
More enemies within
TS,
Self pruning can prove highly beneficial to a party.
By the by enemas within is more apt i believe.
How very sad and how very predictable.
Gerard had only one job to do when he became leader and that was to focus 100% on Brexit, not obsess about the self publicist Robinson or Islamism, which can’t be fully addressed whilst we’re controlled by the EU.
It’s difficult to see where the party goes from here. Farage should never have resigned the leadership after the referendum; he should have known that the Establishment would try to overturn the result. Had he stayed on I reckon in 2018/19 UKIP would have been polling in the high 20’s. That would have forced the Tories to deliver Brexit in full. Farage has to take the blame for not foreseeing this, however the Brexit Party is the only game in town at the moment and for those of us that want Brexit we have to back the likely winners.
Farage new exactly what he as doing. He wanted a break to try his luck in USA then he wanted to walk back into the UKIP leadership when he was ready. It didn’t go his way. The party had to suffer a number of election let downs. The public loved him but were not quite ready to vote for his divisive and abrasive nature. I am not convinced the labour heartlands are ready yet. After all he has used particularly abusive language to their working men and women, many of whom follow Tommy Robinson.
UKIP had a number of years of extremely bad leaders. All chosen and promoted by Nigel in order he could pull the strings whilst working on other projects. Why should we let Gerard down, having given him the opportunity to make UKIP a voice to be heard. In my opinion he has succeeded because we are not just rattling Nigel, we are rattling the estab,ishment.
How sad that yet again some in UKIP just cannot grasp that we are talking for the working class and not the middle class shires.
JB,
Then goodby.
Afore you go did not Gerard Batten write The road to Freedom pointing out just what would happen
on winning the referendum.
One word of advice, if we have to take to the trenches then make bloody sure farage is in front of you.
Like almost everyone in UKIP I was grateful to and a supporter of Gerard when he became Leader over a year ago.
He was supposed to be a safe pair of hands for an interim period to allow for a proper contested election in which other, reasonable, longstanding members of the party could put themselves forward and the party could advance under the Leadership of one of them. He himself stated he had no ambitions for long term Leadership as he looked forward to retirement this year when he is 65.
Instead Gerard has allowed his obsession with ( barely articulate ) S Y~L , and also his mistaken perception of the importance of social media ‘stars’ to deflect UKIP into what now looks like a blind alley.
And the NEC have had plenty of opportunity to simply call the Election for Leadership but have, themselves mistakenly, continually postponed it because of the inconvenience of holding such whilst elections are in prospect ?
Between the NEC and Gerard ( well meaning but disastrous, stubborn, not susceptible to reasoning ~not unlike Mrs May in a number of ways ) UKIP is being destroyed as a serious, political, entity.
I support our NorthEast Regional Lead candidate because I know of his important work for UKIP during many many years, and also how good he will be as an MEP, if it comes to that. Sadly, Gerard’s and the NEC’s behaviour now makes it look as if the Brexit Party will either split the vote ( thus letting in the LIBs or Tories as the 3rd MEP for the Region [ the first two will always be Labour ] ) or carry off the seat themselves.
But after the Euros vote surely there will have to be a Leadership election ? Why do the NEC not call it now anyway ?
Rhys your “He was supposed to be a safe pair of hands for an interim period …”
Indeed, how dare he help bring in thousands of new members… the cheek of it.
And how dare he say things, truthfull things, that no one was allowed/or they were scared to say, that the majority of people thought themselves and starting to wonder, are all politicians treasonous cowards. – HOW DARE GERRARD STAND UP AND BE COUNTED.
Your rather snobbish “Instead Gerard has allowed his obsession with ( barely articulate ) S Y~L , and also his mistaken perception of the importance of social media ‘stars’ to deflect UKIP into what now looks like a blind alley”.
How dare tommy warn years ago about the muslim ‘right hand possessions’ gangs (muslims taking kuffar woman as sex slaves, sanctioned by islams teachings and legal system (sharia), after all he is just a common working class man.
You did not give him your permission to expose it did you!! let alone all the other things he has exposed and been attacked for.
We are sure of course that you were fearlessly exposing all the things tommy did, for many years and getting death threats etc etc.
As for Gerrard, how dare he see the importance of social media being one of the few, maybe only avenue for passing on of facts, where people sick of political correctness, the lies of the mainstream media etc could gather share and pass on information.
I tend to be blunt, you inspire…….. nausea.
I gather preparations are underway.
Standing against UKIP candidates is an odd way to say thank you for the support he received from Gerard and the party while he was in prison and subsequently.
He is t standing against UKIP. He wanted to join UKIP and some of the members said a big fat no. He doesn’t belong to us. If he has been asked to stand by his followers, which he has, then why shouldn’t he stand. In my opinion, it is us that has treated Mr Robinson carelessly. He was and is extremely supportive of us. He has thousands upon thousands of followers and he has encouraged them always to vote UKIP. However those followers asked him to stand. Go to his TRNews site. He didn’t stand to upset Gerard. He stood because his followers felt he could talk for them better than we could. I am certain Gerard has given his full blessing because Gerard effectively knows we now have two chances of winning the NW.
If Tommy wins he will work his socks of for his supporters and he will always promote UKIP and Gerard. He has a huge regard for Gerard. My gut feeling is he will win and labour will come second. The Brexit party is too middle class and Tory.
If we had seen the real movement of the people and had trusted Gerard, Tommy would be standing for us and he would be winning. Unfortunately we have far too many Tory leftovers. Gerard knows our party needs to shift and talk for the working classes. There is no genuine Brexit or national party for those outside London. Gerard was building this. Once again he is having to deal with some tantrums from folk who have no grit.
How does being an MEP allow him to do anything for the working class in the UK? Surely standing as an MP would be more suitable for that aim. UKIP could withdraw from whatever constituency he chose to maximise his chances.
Voters cannot cast two votes so two chances of winning is far from obvious. It’s not an alternative vote system. There are many voters, I am sure, that would vote for both if they could – but they can’t. So the vote will be split. Hard to see how that is a good thing except as a beauty contest between Tommy and UKIP.
.
Tommy wouldn’t have had to if he had been allowed to join the Party, would he???
Sonya
SY,
To me it is odd that he is denied membership what have people against him ? is he an enemy of the state ? a child molestor ? an arch villain ? many of those types wear pinstripe.
Let those without sin cast the ………o
He has a number of convictions for a range of offences , a couple, at minimum, such as the one related to mortgage fraud and the other related to using a false passport, having nothing whatever to do with ‘political ‘ behaviour.
Is UKIP a serious political party in the United Kingdom ? There is NO serious political party in the country which permits anyone with a conviction for a serious offence to be a spokesperson / MP / associated with the Leadership of the party ~ NONE !
When a LIB Cabinet Minister was convicted of lying about going through a red traffic light he immediately became a non person as far as the LIBs were concerned.
When a LABour MP was convicted of the same thing recently she was IMMEDIATELY ( even before her appeal was lodged ) denied the whip in the Commons and she will never be a LAB party candidate ever again.
These are just the two most recent examples of how serious political parties treat persons with criminal convictions : they are NOT allowed anywhere near the Leadership, nor allowed to be candidates for office.
RB,
Are you for real ? comparing that den of rodents in the HOc with Tommy Robinsons?
Child molestors, thieves ec cons still wearing HMP jewelry and allowed to vote and draw pay as an MP, ask lord steel or vaz whom is still under investigation to confirm.
I didn’t know he had applied for membership. I knew Alan Craig had put forward a motion at the Birmingham conference for a rule change but it got pulled. I wish it had not been. We should have been allowed to debate the motion. It was ostensibly McIntyre’s decision but would in reality have been whoever pressured him.
So Gerard was attacked for having TR as an advisor ( therefore not part of UKIP) and now is attacked because that advisor as an independent is standing against all parties ( as is his right because he not a member of any party)….make your minds up please.
Are you saying that he is no longer seen as an advisor by Mr. Batten? Is that somehow official?
Gerard, as party leader, is openly supporting someone who is standing against UKIP candidates. Bad show.
S,
Don’t be bloody daft.
Follow the money Spon…….
Hear, hear Grumps. Ferrets in a sack again?
Well said
Others tempted to follow in the steps of UKIP Gloucestershire at this critical time should consider how much damage they would inflict on the Party. Gerard will be up for election shortly (he may not even stand) – that will be the time to resolve the issues that they highlight. UKIP is greater than any individual – and my expectation is that it will be needed long after the Tories have imploded, Brexit has been secured, and Nigel has lost interest. It is to say the least unhelpful to damage the Party for the failings of its temporary leader just when we need unity, even if we don’t approve of every last candidate.
Jim, I agree with most of what you say but Gerard should never have selected those two clowns over other more worthy candidates in my view, it is not fair to those who have worked much harder and longer and have not brought the party embarrassment like they have. As for his association with TR I feel that is up to him who he liaises with as it is up to TR whether he stands as an independent or not, I say best of luck to him I up he sticks it up the establishment.
What candidates. Gerard has been crying out for candidates. And anyway they are not clowns. Sargon is actually going viral with his meet and greets in Swindon and Bristol. He is getting the attention of a number of journalists for the right reasons and not the wrong. Just because you don’t like him or understand him, doesn’t mean that thousands of working class people are not clamouring to talk to him.
Mark meacham has a huge younger following in Scotland. He is our chance to win a Scottish MEP seat bearing mind that most of our Scottish MEPs jumped ship to follow Nigel and Nigel hasn’t used them. LOL.
Our party is not going to follow the same old same old. We have a chance to change the po,itics of this country and engage much younger voters. That. Use be a good thing and I take. Y hat off to Gerard for being ahead of the game
DAL,
I do wish we had a multitude of clowns of their calibre.
As for Tommy Robinson just be glad he is very pro UKIP, I would have had him in the party yesterday.
This is the main problem with UKIP: it’s full of non-entities full of their own self-importance. With or without Brexit, we are becoming a third world country by design in which Englishmen dare not speak their minds for fear of the though police who now by statute and custom hold sway over our lives.
To forthurst – “This is the main problem with UKIP: it’s full of non-entities full of their own self-importance”.
Please list one or 2 with actual factual reasons.
Please explain your understanding of the meaning of your phrase ‘full of’.
“With or without Brexit, we are becoming a third world country by design in which Englishmen dare not speak their minds for fear of the though police who now by statute and custom hold sway over our lives”. – says a member of the thought police.
Your self importantance severly clouds your mind.
I’m sure that GB is a good guy and generally has the party’s interests in mind. However he is politically inept and that failing is seriously damaging the party.
On the other hand those in Gloucestershire would do well to take a trip up North and observe the reality to which they are clearly not exposed down South.
Rubbish–gb is fine
Then why is he shunned by the press at this critical time using his assocation with TR and others as a weapon?
Right policy but wrong time.
He is being shunned by the press because they know UKIP is the real threat to the Tories and labour. Ask yourself this question…..Why, after 26 years of verbal abuse and smear campaigns, is Nigel Farage the darling of the press? Something is definitely not right. He attracts many disaffected Tories and middle class voters donating to his movement. He is beginning to treat UKIP in the same manner the press has always treated us and he is trying to destroy Gerard’s legacy.
The fact that Gerard has circumvented the press so far and used the medium of the future I.e. you tube and personal social media. The fact the Gerard is now videoing everything he says and all interviews he gives to the media, shows how astute he is.
The fact that a number of older kippers who just cannot grasp the importance of the new medium are throwing their tantrums is rather a shame. They and only they are damaging UKIP at this time. It was always thus, that the ‘tory’ faction within our party wanted to throw their weight around. Nigel walked away from it, so there is no point putting him on a pedestal. Gerard is made of sterner stuff and will carry the party forward.
On a point of Information ( merely ) re the ‘importance of new media’ ~ just what evidence is there that all these millions of ‘followers’ on social media translates into actual voting support ?
I didn’t notice it in Newport.
And I don’t notice it in current opinion polls where UKIP trails in single figures ( despite having all these wonderful Sargon types with their millions of ‘followers’ ).
Jus’ wondrin’.
JT,
Do you not realize that the MsM are enemas of the state ?
He’s not shunned by the press. He’s scared of being questioned. Yesterday he was INVITED to appear on Sky News. He refused to appear. He refuses to speak to LBC too.
Serious party leaders must expect to be grilled by journalists. It’s not personal, it’s their jobs.
UKIP now have ALL the HIGHLY PAID people around Gerard in Ilford standing in the EU elections. Including Kris Hicks ( the press officer)
Too busy to talk to Adam Boulton ? He’s the political editor of Sky News FFS.
Absurd.
There is definitely a North/South divide and there lies the problem.
Funny, but I call Gloucestershire “up north”.
In any event, Gloucester and Cheltenham are a stone’s throw from Birmingham, should any of these ex-kippers want a glimpse of their future.
Personally, the more I see of Sargon and Gerard the more I like and respect them. It’s a shame more people don’t have the courage to say “You can keep your political correctness, mate, because WE are for free speech”. It is absolutely pathetic the way people nowadays let themselves be influenced by the Far Left and have Victorian fainting fits as soon as they read or hear an off colour joke. Carl and Gerard (and AMW and Katie Hopkins too, for that matter) thank God are made of more robust stuff and we need to back them, not walk away. Bring back common sense!
JT,
Do you mean that GB not being bent is holding the party back ?
To the latter part of your post I do agree.
