This dungheap is useful – the Whitehall one: not so much

I love it when one is vindicated, out of the horses’ mouths, regarding the state of Whitehall and the civil service. I am however sorely puzzled: why is this coming out now, and why has nobody said a word earlier? I am talking about revelations coming out of Whitehall, reported today in the DT in two articles and one ‘op-ed’.

Firstly, a quick look at what the print editions of the MSM present to their faithful readers, the few which they have left: “Newspaper headlines: HS2 row and smoking ban for next generation” (link). Well, I’ll believe in yon ‘HS2 brake’ when I see it. All this ‘jam tomorrow’ is making me sick, tomorrow. Moreover, ‘banning’ something for ‘teh yoof’ will simply make them do it on purpose because the forbidden always has an extra thrill.

If these ‘leaks’ are coming from ‘sources’ in Whitehall then we know why the other broadsheets didn’t touch the DT’s revelations: they cannot afford to offend their leaking, gossipy ‘sources’ else they’d have to do their own research, i.e. work.

And so to the three piece gracing the DT’s front page this morning. Here are their headlines:

“Civil servant revolt at ‘woke takeover of Whitehall’ – Letter to Cabinet Secretary warns government policy risks being improperly influenced by imposition of gender ideology” (paywalled link)

“Thirty days of Pride and lessons on white supremacy: inside Whitehall’s woke training regime – Government staff were urged to ‘dress up for Pride’ and bombarded with material on white privilege, leaked internal communications reveal” (paywalled link)

“This obstruction and wokery is designed to stop democracy working – It is completely unacceptable that Whitehall has been politicised through radical ideology” (paywalled link)

I delved into the three pieces but was left quite dissatisfied. The main article is about a letter:

“The Cabinet Secretary has been warned by senior civil servants of a “woke takeover of Whitehall” that risks “improperly” influencing Government policy. Simon Case was told in a letter signed by 42 staff from 16 departments that ideology on gender promoted by trans activists has become embedded in the Civil Service in a “significant breach of impartiality”.” (paywalled link)

One has to scroll down quite a bit to get to the important information, namely the date on which this letter was sent:

“The letter was sent to Mr Case on April 18, and it was more than two months before the signatories got a reply. It came from Fiona Ryland, the Government’s chief people officer, who wrote back on June 30.” (paywalled link)

So this ‘problem’ isn’t brand new then, is it! Why was it leaked now, or rather: did the DT sit on it until now? The next quote gives us an inkling:

“Mr Case and Rishi Sunak now face questions over their alleged failure to tackle the problem.” (paywalled link)

Is it now ‘open season’ on Simon Case and that’s why yon letter was leaked, or published now by the DT?  We’re told that it was very unusual for such letter to be sent to the Cabinet Secretary in the first place. We also read that all the Mandarins of Mandarins had received this letter.

We’re not told if, and if so, what those top mandarins did to ‘tackle’ this problem. Perhaps they couldn’t do anything without ‘guidance’? When one sees the little graph in the first report we find that 54.5% of civil serpents are women – biological, not trans, I assume. So permit me to surmise, maliciously, that wimmin cannot function without having ‘rulz’, or rather: guidance.

The other report brings details about what other wokery ‘training’ was inflicted on the poor civil serpents, e.g. BLM and gender toilet issues. It seems that a huge number of NGOs were permitted to bombard Whitehall departments with their ‘issues’. I’ve not found numbers regarding how many working hours were lost to obligatory attendance on these ‘training’ programmes’. Still, there’s now ‘Guidance’:

“A government spokesman said: “As required by the Civil Service Code, and as the public rightly expects, all civil servants must act impartially. “Where any individual is found to be breaking the Civil Service Code, appropriate action will be taken. We are introducing new Impartiality Guidance which will provide added clarity to staff on maintaining impartiality on diversity and inclusion issues.” (paywalled link)

Well, there’s nice, innit! Horse – stable door – bolted comes to mind. As for JRM’s piece: it’s fluff and self-exculpating. Only the title, being a direct quote from the text, is important. Clearly, JRM dindu nuffink while in office. He does however mention that attending ‘schooling course’ will give a rise in salary …

We’re left with unanswered questions: why make this public now? Why did JRM not notice when he was in government? Why did the mandarins of mandarins not do anything when they received this letter in April? Did they spend all these months coming up with the ‘guidance’ I quoted? And why did our glorious Westminster MSM know nuffink or publish anything about this until now?

Finally: why do we waste our money on a civil service which spends more time on making sure everybody is woke rather than on dealing with the problems besetting our country? No wonder nothing works properly any longer! If you think that Labour will clear up the steaming dunghill the civil service has become – think again.

That’s all I have for today. I think it’s time for a tax revolt: why pay through the nose for a government which permits itself to be indoctrinated by NGOs which, incidentally, receive our tax money in support? Have a good weekend.
