We’ll need passports for everything while the covid war goes on – and on …
In a slight change to George Orwell’s famous quote, of having always been at war with Eastasia, it’s clear that we’ll always be at war with covid – thanks to the latest vote in the HoG (not a typo: it’s now the House of Ghosts, not the HoC). Yesterday, they voted to keep the ‘corona virus emergency powers’ on the books – until October, or ‘the end of September’, to make it sound less draconian. Brussels meanwhile was fudging the issue of vaccine export bans. There’s also the issue of ‘pub passports’: loud noises everywhere from everyone – but chances are that once the public fury has evaporated we’ll hear that everybody is happy with this: it’s ‘only’ going to be an app, innit, so no worries, innit …
Firstly, a brief look at the EU summit regarding their vaccine export ban: ‘tis a fudge. There’s a kind of backdown by Brussels because some of the minnows worded the document so that Ms vdLeyen’s face was saved (link, link paywalled). One of the staunchest Remainers, the staunchest EUphile writing for the BC, had to report that yes, there will be such ‘law’ but the EU members would rather that Ms vdLeyen didn’t use it (link). Crikey. Do they really trust her not to do so? The wannabe Napoleon threw the obligatory public anti-UK tantrum, but that was to be expected. Perhaps he had to divert attention from the fact that millions of AZ vaccine doses are lying about in EU member states, unused. Here’s the latest report from our friends at facts4eu.
And so to yesterday’s capitulation of our elected representatives to the covid politburo. It’s as if we’ve become so inured to covid madness that we don’t even question this latest instance of their sheepishly accepting the diktats of the covid dictators. This report serves to explain why the MPs voted as they did:
“Despite assuring the house “I am by nature an optimist”, he [Matt H.] had come armed with a range of known unknowns and bad tidings; vaccine-resistant variants, infection spikes on the continent and the ever-present spectre of long Covid. Jonathan Ashworth, Hancock’s opposite number on the green benches, had evidently borrowed from the same hymn sheet. Preaching the gospel of Jacinda; “zero tolerance” for “letting the virus roam unchecked”, he rhetorically personified the virus as a crafty killer. Covid “exploits ambiguity”, he warned, and “thrives on inequality”.” (paywalled link)
If covid ‘thrives on inequality’ according to Labour, then surely all we need to do is hand out the money wasted by the covid measures so far, from PPE to tests to jabs, to make everybody more equal, no? What a novel medical concept! It’s no surprise then that only 76 MPs voted against the extension of the ‘covid emergency powers’ which sailed through with 484 to 76 votes. Only 35 Tory MPs were amongst the Nay voters. A list of their names is here.
One Tory ‘rebel’ was a certain Sir John Redwood MP. You can read his brief statement in his Diary this morning (link). He correctly mentions that there’s now no official opposition. That confirms our view of being in a One-Party-State where only the personal taste for this or that colour determines whom we’ll vote for. The contents of their political programmes don’t matter any longer.
Sir John Redwood also writes that “we lack the votes to change things, but we have voices and public support which we need to represent.” (link) – well, the good Sir John doesn’t seem to have noticed that the voices of those critical of lockdowns and covid measures have been and are being silenced one by one. As for that ‘public support’ he mentions: that is a very silent support, thanks to the concerted actions of the MSM of non-reporting unless it’s permitted by the covid politburo. If nobody knows about us peasants’ dwindling respect for covid measures, the MSM seem to think, then fewer will dare to resist with quiet civil disobedience.
The true horror though, the reason why we will be at war with covid forever, is that Matt H was ‘unable to give a guarantee’ that there won’t be any more extensions. That didn’t matter one little bit to the covid MPs: ongoing covid measures means they can keep sitting at home doing nothing – well, alright, they tell their assistants to answer emails by irate constituents.
It doesn’t seem to occur to them that they have abdicated and handed over the running of this country to unelected ‘experts’ (I’m looking at you, SAGEs!) who decide which draconian covid measures are applicable at any given moment, disregarding the economy, the many problems besieging “Our Covid NHS” or trade agreements with other countries when they demand more ‘control’ over who can enter the UK from e.g. France.
Since “we” are going to be hit by that 3rd wave infesting the EU, according to the SAGE’s hand puppet Hancock, it’ll come as no surprise that the ‘Department of Covid Health’ and ‘Our Sacred Cow’ are already planning to make the nation get a ‘booster jab’ from October (link).
October? Ah – now the ongoing extension of those ‘covid emergency powers’ makes sense! Now it makes sense that Matt H. was unable to assure the HoG that this would be the last extension of those ‘powers’! Now they aim to combine the covid jabs with the flu jabs. We’ll be a nation of jabbees – and never mind that even so, even now, there haven’t been any covid deaths in the past week (link).
Moreover, there are certain to be ‘new variants’ which will be more horrible, more infectious and more deadly than anything we’ve seen before – until it turns out that they are not. You didn’t really expect that the covid politburo would give up their power, that the string-pullers, the SAGEs, would calmly relinquish those strings and retreat gracefully into the background, did you!
The momentary uproar in the MSM about that ‘pub passport’ is nothing but another fat squirrel, or rather: another swine being driven through the MSM village, to divert our attention from the real political scandal, that the ‘war against covid’ will go on and on, without our say-so because our representatives have abdicated.
Does anyone really believe that the various reports and opinion pieces in the MSM (e.g here or paywalled here) on pub landlords ‘pouring scorn’ over this proposal will make the covid tsars take a blind bit of notice? Pubs anyway are hotbeds of opinion exchanges – God forbid that covid resisters might ‘infect’ the good covidian lemmings in those places with their anti-covid opinions! Making life difficult if not outright impossible for pubs is surely a good thing, the covidians fondly believe.
Are we really going to let this situation continue, extended to October, to March 2022 and beyond? Have we become so used to making do with the tiny dollops of ‘freedom’ doled out by the covid tsars that we’ll be grateful for the ‘freedom’ of a ‘passport’ permitting us to go to our local? When will we realise that this is another thin wedge-edge, to make us accept that during this covid war there’ll be no life except with a covid passport for everything?
Such covid passport, documenting our vaccine and test compliance, is manifestly turning us into a two-class society where discriminating against a group is perfectly fine. Isn’t this contrary to all the ‘diversity’ and ‘anti-discrimination’ laws we’ve lived with for so long? I can’t believe that we really value our freedom so little!
Once more: it’s time for calm civil disobedience!
KBO!
By my reckoning on the numbers of votes on ‘that blll’ yesterday, some 90 MPs did nothing! In a vote as important as this one I would have expected that it would be required for ALL to vote. If they are going to abdicate responsibility for voting (as lawmakers) on a law as sensitive and contentious as this one, then perhaps they should all be considering their position and standing down so that the seats may be contested by by (perhaps) more committed representatives!!!!
Presumably it was mainly Starmers lot that abstained. A few defied their whip. there is a list in today’s lockdown sceptics.
This comment was posted to another website this morning. I’m sure the writer would not object to my reposting it here. It is a very good description of the situation we are in.
.
Twelve months ago, this government lied…….it lied to parliament by stating that a ‘catastrophic emergency’ had occurred – ‘emergency powers’ can only be invoked on those grounds.
It ignored its obligation to utilise the Civil Contingencies Act – which would see ‘emergency powers’ scrutinised by parliament on a MONTHLY basis.
It lied to parliament to secure the passing of the Coronavirus Act – saying lockdown would only be to safeguard NHS capacity.
It lied to the British people.
It has dealt in falsehoods every single step of the way – claiming there was a scientific basis for every measure: social distancing, masks, lockdown itself and vaccination; all of which do far, far more harm than good.
It handed control of public health policy to platoons of narrow-minded, unelected academic-scientific odd-balls and blackguards, most of whom have no interest in public service or welfare – they have been pursuing the agendas on behalf of globalists, they have attempted to preserve their own reputations or they have enjoyed working on this mass experiment. ALL HAVE BEEN ON FULL PAY – AND WILL DOUBTLESS BE ‘HONOURED’.
It has misrepresented deaths and death certification
It has manipulated language to term asymptomatic people ‘cases’ or ‘infections’…….all on the basis of the scandalously inaccurate PCR-tests……….any doctor knows that a ‘case’ means illness; and in fact that statistic is also being collected officially as ‘notifiable illness’.
It has thrown peoples’ rights, freedoms, livings, businesses, education and indeed their lives into a pit of destruction and despair – thousands have committed suicide.
It has halted or denied proper medical treatment – treatment that the people have paid for – to people who badly needed it. Consequently, many thousands have died at home instead of getting treatment, and many, many thousands more will have missed life-saving diagnoses.
It has allowed rampant venal corruption, enabling the theft of £billions of the public’s money.
It has sought to terrify, bully, brow-beat and bribe the British people into accepting all of the monstrous things it has done – what kind of government does that to its people?
It has put our freedoms and democracy in danger of being permanently extinguished……
…….and it has bribed the media to NOT look into their litany of falsehoods and anti-democratic behaviour……..it would not be unreasonable to believe that it has not done the same with its own MPs.
THIS TORY GOVERNMENT IS PUTRID, CORRUPT, INCOMPETENT AND DISHONEST. AS A MATTER OF URGENCY IT MUST BE REMOVED
Even though I resigned my membership of the Conservative Party six months ago largely as a result of Johnson’s incompetence surrounding the EU Trade Talks and the lack of action over the English Channel Migrant crisis, I still get letters from both Central Office and the local office, so obviously they don’t understand the concepts of GDPR in addition to not being able to run the country properly. The last letter I received this week was a begging letter requesting donations to cover the cost of using Royal Mail to post out their local election leaflets to all residential addresses. The cost was apparently £10,000 to do this. I read that their activists had voiced concerns of delivering leaflets and contracting Covid 19 in the process. Apart from the utter laziness of the Conservative Party and the contempt they obviously hold for the electorate, why for heavens sake are they not using their ruddy useless Borough councilors (all 45 of them) to do this. From what I have heard on the grapevine, it is not so much as concerns of contracting Covid 19 that lies at the route of the problem with their activists, but the fact that they are all browned off with Boris Johnson’s style of premiership, as are most people who are concerned at the routine trashing of our freedoms and civil liberties. I only joined the Conservative Party in February 2020 so it didn’t take long for me to fall out with them. I am standing as an Independent in the local elections and am in the process of delivering 15,000 leaflets, with just a handful of helpers. If we can do this, how is it that the ruddy useless Conservative Party can’t do it with all the manpower resources at their disposal. I feel they are going to become unstuck at these elections………..
An excellent post Bohma, I think it should be directed to my MP as he voted with the government. What a disgrace.
As Vivian writes : “Moreover, there are certain to be ‘new variants’ “…..Yes Viv, right on ! Covid-19 is in the family of Coronaviruses, which are always mutating, hence Covid-19 can be relied on to mutate from here to eternity, guaranteeing Covid Terror and Lockdowns without end.
But the bad news for our Whitehall & Westminster fans of Chinese political culture is that the Rhinovirus family, the viruses that mainly cause the common cold, can move in and chuck the Coronaviruses out. Rhinoviruses are notoriously tough survivors, tougher than Covid apparently, and there are over a hundred types of them in the Rhinovirus family .
Whenever I’ve had to put my face mask on (in shops, buses etcetera ) my nose starts running, maybe that’s the good old common cold that’s kept me safe. (If my grasp of virology is a shaky Helena, please put me right).
Thanks Ralph. My nose keeps running too, so I also have the common cold. A friend mentioned it was going round at the moment and she has not previously been outright sceptical about the covid restrictions.
I’d rather take note of your virology than Helena’s.
But Pauline, Helena has worked in microbiology/virology for decades, I’ve only looked into it since the Covid Terror started a year ago.
Strange isn’t it Ralph. I still believe you !
Ralph P https://www.vernoncoleman.com/main.htm Health section second article down
He says dont be bullied into wearing face masks and states what the law actually says.
Sod the “experts”, to me the muzzles are a sign of tyranny and slavery. VC’s writings maintain they do more harm than good
In a normal democracy it is the job of the opposition to, well, oppose
the government. This has not happened since the start of the scamdemic
with Labour demanding ever stricter measures to counter the virus. The
reason for this becomes clear when you realise that Keir Starmer is a
serving member of the Rockefeller Trilateral Commission. The
Rockefeller Foundation produced the Lockstop document 10 years ago which
describes how governments can take total control on the back of a
pandemic. This is playing out before our very eyes. https://in-this-together.co…
Thanks bohma. I assumed Starmer was not sure he had control of his own party. But yes, it’s obvious that they will take over the dictatorship if we do get a G.E.
Then probably no more elections.
I do not know where the vaccines come from before Britain. But one thing is obvious. All Britain does is Packaging. We are the packaging industries apologists. We do not make anything .We pretend by putting some lie Union Jack on our packaging. We cannot get much less pathetic. All this does is highlight how TAX has sucked the life out of us.Packaging is NOT manufacturing. It’s delusion.
Quite so TGS! My sentiments entirely! The amount of real manufacturing left in Britain is woefully small given out history of being a manufacturing and trading nation.
SQUIRRELS T.G.S.
Sorry.
I went to J.R.’s Diary before coming here today, and also commented.
When I was reading the comments they were overwhelmingly SUPPORTING JR’s vote AGAINST EXTENDING lockdowns. Many also likened our present situation to the worst totalitarian states.
There IS growing unrest among the people.
His Diary is a good place to make our opinions known. Nudge to you all – get on there and speak up!
Pauline I didn’t know comments were permitted! I’ll go and look. Thanks for the heads-up!
Agreed but I have a problem in that he did not like what I was saying most days so my post disappeared as quick as I typed it!
So I left and deleted his app- so much for free speach
Yes Mike, I forgot to say I have not trusted or taken JR seriously since he dropped out of the Major era leadership challenge and backed errr……….KENNETH CLARKE!
Well I read all about that and it seems to me he acted in good faith throughout. He dropped out because he did not get enough votes to continue. The same thing happened to other contestants during BJ’s election. It is the way their system works.
They got BJ elected as leader because Brexit was THE important issue at that time. Now it is the dictatorship that is the issue.
If I remember correctly he put his career on the line over Major. Was it Maastricht? I don’t remember Kenneth Clarke taking the leadership. So on that occasion the Eurosceptics failed to get control of the Party. They didn’t give up though.
I am NOT a committed Tory, have never been a member even.
I joined Ukip and worked to get Brexit.
Now I wish to do whatever is right for MY COUNTRY and I think that means getting out of the Covid Dictatorship by whatever means.
Mike. It does seem to disappear but that is just the way the site works. It has to handle a lot of comments landing all together.
Presumably you were not going out of your way to insult or slander him.
I don’t understand what you mean by deleting his app. Just google john redwoods diary and open it. Read it then click on comments.
I suspect, Pauline, that JR’s Diary is populated with comments similar to your own. Perhaps a better medium might be Conservativehome, the grassroots Tory site. There you will find some voices similar to those here, but many of the wet, subservient to state and party authority line. These are the ones that need persuading that, ” Johnson’s legacy will be a police state on the Chinese model…….”
No there have been comments arguing against J.R. on his Diary. I’m sure it is quite genuine.
However I may summon up the energy to argue my case on Conservativehome.
Pauline. Its good that JR and a couple of score other Tory MPs voted against extending the lockdowns but it will have no effect whatsoever on the outcome. Farage told us long ago that there is only one thing the Tories fear – rejection at the ballot box. Lets try to make that a reality in May.
Johnson’s ‘legacy’ will be a police state on the Chinese model with relentless surveillance and withdrawal of social life if you don’t obey. Why can’t everyone see it.
Michael. Add to that his commitment to Build Back Better, the mantra of The Great Reset. It’s a bleak prospect.
MN. Think London already has the greatest number of CCTVs of any city in the Western world! Nothing much the Ruskies or the Chinese can tell us about spying on their own people.
Because Michael they have been subjected to relentless propaganda.
There’s someone on Conwom (Puffoon) ( who hides their profile ; Hm) who maintains that BoJo is actually MITIGATING all these evils. A totally idiotic view IMHO!
BoJo knows full well the evil and misery he is causing but dooesn’t care. He’s not the main driver, there are his string pullers and thousands in Cabinet Office etc etc who are driving all this, along with him. But he’s in it up to his neck and I get really annoyed when anyone makes excuses for him. BoJo would never have any mercy for anyone who got in his way. and I get really annoyed when anyone makes excuses for him.
One of his comments is on this article https://www.conservativewoman.co.uk/from-china-with-thanks/
I am going to send this to my useless MP who of course supported extension of lockdown
Oh mary, how I wish I could send that to my MP. But honestly it is not possible with my system.
I hope you really did send it to yours.
I’m definitely sending it tomorrow morning, yes. will either send email to local constituency office or use write- to= them, copypasting the link, or quot ing the full text. . I’m puzzled why your system wont let you do that
PS Sent, gone. No probs
Just in case you do look back mary, I’ll explain.
The ‘hardware’ is an HP Pavilion dv6000. My computer man said it does not have the capacity for modern operating systems. If you remember microsoft’s ‘vista’ version of ‘windows’, it was about then I found out for myself.
So it uses Ubuntu as an operating system and Firefox as a Browser.
I can not explain it any more than that.
I could buy a completely new set up. But there are a number of personal reasons why I continue as I am.
Not helped by lockdown which has almost certainly prevented my computer man coming into my home, or me into his workshop.
