Prime Minister Boris Johnson has survived a vote of confidence in the House of Commons this evening, but his premiership has been badly dented after 148 MPs voted saying they had lost confidence in his leadership.
The vote was forced following letters of no confidence submitted by at least 54 MPs to Sir Graham Brady, chairman of the backbench 1922 committee, who then arranged the secret vote.
The threshold of 15 percent of the Parliamentary party seeking a Vote of Confidence was passed yesterday and Sir Graham told the PM that a vote would take place this evening.
Mr Johnson needed 180 MPs to vote to keep him in post. Two hundred and eleven did so, with 148 – 41 per cent – voting for a change of Prime Minister. Mr Johnson’s predecessor Theresa May resigned after 133 MPs voted saying they had no confidence in her.
Mr Johnson will continue as Prime Minister. Under current rules there can be no further challenge to him for 12 months.
Only a deluded individual like Boris Johnson could claim that the 211 to 148 ‘no confidence vote’ victory was ‘great’ and ‘decisive’. It would have only required another 32 votes to put paid to his premiership once and for all. I would say that he has been holed below the water line and is taking in huge amounts of water and it will only be a matter of time before he is sunk. I voted for this absolute clown back in December 2019 to deliver a 100% independence from the European Union, not the half in half out shambles we have been stitched up with where part of our country has effectively been annexed by a foreign power with different customs rules etc, and I wanted him to sort out the borders issue and immigration, and instead what we have instead is thousands of illegal migrants flooding over the English Channel and given free accommodation, free medical care, free tablets and mobile phones and pocket money in addition to another 830,000 being given permission to enter the country. And I voted for 100% control of our territorial waters and fishing rights and what we have been lumbered with is more or less the opposite. And what I certainly did not vote for was for him to promise the earth in terms of supplying free weaponry and pledges of financial assistance a to a former Soviet Republic fighting against another, whilst at the same time depleting our own defence capabilities and ignoring the plight of our own citizens who are suffering hardship as a result of this war. This is not the brand of Conservatism I voted for in December 2019, far from it in fact, and apart from getting us out of the EU in January 2020, Johnson has been a walking disaster zone. Either the Conservative Party find an right of centre alternative to Johnson PDQ, or I and many others will return to the UKIP fold once again.
Well I guess we will have to hope that, as claimed, he broke the Ministerial Code and must be sacked.
Doris is uniquely gifted to be instrumental in the Tory party self-destructing whilst Farage is once more doing his utmost to save them again. When will Farage stop trying to reform the Tories? He of all people should know that the Tories are rotten to the core and will never, ever be a traditional small government party again.
Long live Doris!

I hope he goes. The tory party is in scorched earth retreat and their lasting gift to the nation will be a Starmer Coalition. Expect Boris will limp on with more Build Back Better nonsense.

The best prime minister that we’ll never have, that is Nigel Farage. However, one cant say it will never occur because I for one hope it will. He still has time to turn things around himself and get back out onto the political front line. As he said in that faultless presentation which would be worthy of any leader of a major party, the voters will punish the Conservatives at the nest general election if they did not oust Boris Johnson by voting for an ‘alternative’ At the present time there is no viable alternative available as the leaders of the smaller right of centre political parties seem content to sit on their laurels saying not very much. In my opinion only Farage can muster up sufficient support to get a political movement going and draw in voters in their masses in a relatively short space of time. His You Tube video was only made yesterday and already it has been viewed approaching 121,000 times. This highlights the magnitude of his pull factor. As far as I am concerned I would to think he would re-acquaint himself with UKIP, as after all he has mentioned that party quite a few times recently, or set up a completely new party altogether. Here’s hoping…….

His personal following is huge. But he is remaking all the same old mistakes. He needs help but I fear he is now too flying again. But even that would be better than nothing. But the second rate missuse, and the maneuvering and slipperiness of ukip would I fear be the end of Farage. I know. It ought to be perfect. But he is too good a target to be hooked onto and dragged back down by the feral ambitious.

If Johnson is replaced, we’ll only get someone else who’s just as bad. so I’m not getting excited about it. End destination if we roll over and accept it, CBCD, Universal ID, UBI and Social Credit system. Total tyranny under a totalitarian biosecurity state.
Yes totally agree m, it’s a complete stitch up and there won’t be any winners. My prediction Johnson will keep going until We all go over the cliff or the military step in.

Indeed Biscotte; now we know why their numbers were trashed by Blair. It is interesting to compare UK numbers with Thai numbers for a broadly similar population:
Thailand 360,555 active, around 200,000 reserves.
UK (latest 2015) 148,450, 37,420 Volunteer Reserves.
Why the comparison? I lived and worked in Thailand for some years and experienced 2 military coups. The first one was a bit of a damp squib but the latest resulted in military control from 2014 to 2016. The position of PM was assumed by a military general who appeared every evening at 6pm on TV explaining his action and policies. A great deal of corruption was rooted out.
I haven’t a deal of experience since the new government took over but am wary of a return to former ways. If only we could chuck out “our” government in a similar way…
The only military that will take over here if TPTB get their way, is UN “peacekeeping” forces to slap us down and force jab us.

Why should it take a no confidence vote to force Johnson to pull his finger out. It seems to me at least that he is only motivated to do the things that he was actually voted in power to do, if his own job is on the line. Johnson is a lazy individual and sloppy with it, and one only has to look at his general appearance in the House of Commons and elsewhere to realise that. His general demeanour and attitude doesn’t befit the role of prime minister. He could do with a bit of discipline and some square bashing on the parade ground, he is that slovenly. Are there any ex Regimental Sergeant Major’s in the House of Commons who could take him to task. In the absence of that, perhaps he could be forced to hop over the wall of Number 10 onto Horse Guards Parade and get a Life Guards RSM to instill some sort of discipline into him. Its either that or we get rid of him once and for all, the useless individual that he is…
