The Supreme Court: resting on hollowed-out foundations

The dismantling of our society is gathering pace. Professional qualifications are no longer needed. We saw this in the NHS plans to create ‘apprentice doctors’, now it’s the turn of the judiciary. More on that below, after the obligatory glance at the print front pages of the MSM: “Newspaper headlines: Welby ‘clashes with ministers’ over small boats bill” (link).

The ArchBish howled that the Migration Bill was ‘morally unacceptable’. The DM placed their report of Tory MPs asking yon ArchBish on their print edition’s front page. They asked what was moral about not stopping people smugglers. One’s got to scroll past a lot of dross to find that article in the DM’s online edition (link).

Perhaps yon ArchBish might also answer why it’s morally acceptable to park a barge for 500 ‘migrants’ at the coast of Portland, Dorset, a place which already lacks infrastructure for the residents (link).

Turning from this continuing blight on our country here’s the latest government proposal. The new Justice Minister has announced that “Senior legal executives will be allowed to become crown court judges as ministers scramble to reduce the backlog of serious criminal cases.” (link, paywalled). That was quick – he’s only got his feet under the table on the 21st April this year!

Did the MoJ mandarins want to push this scheme but Mr Raab wasn’t playing ball? Was this the reason for the defenestration of Mr Raab? I’m only asking … Here’s the official reason for yon scheme – but read carefully (all emphases are mine):

“The move announced by Alex Chalk KC, the justice secretary, will break tradition on the crown court bench, where judicial posts have gone primarily to barristers, along with some solicitors. Officials said the updated rules would result in up to 4,500 more lawyers from diverse backgrounds being eligible to become judges in the crown courts and in the upper tribunals, where they will hear complex civil law cases.” (link, paywalled)

‘Lawyers from diverse backgrounds’ – ah! The move means ‘legal executives’ who are not barristers or solicitors will be appointed as judges. Of course they have a professional body which has a CEO who let the cat out of the bag:

“Chris Bones, the chairman of the chartered institute, welcomed the move, saying: “Women and ethnic minorities are under-represented in our judicial system and we need a judiciary that is representative of the society we live in to promote confidence in the rule of law.” (link, paywalled)

Of course “we” need a ‘diverse’ judiciary, especially since the government wants to tackle the backlog of cases, and the reason for their initiative is the same as that for creating apprentice doctors:

“The crown courts are clogged with a backlog of about 62,000 cases, which ministers have vowed to reduce to 53,000 by early 2025. Ministers have also argued that recruiting legal executives to the bench will make the judiciary more socially diverse. Members of the chartered institute are not required to have university degrees and can gain their legal qualifications while working.“  (link, paywalled)

No need to study at Uni: qualify by working ‘on the job’ and you can also become a judge, especially if you’re ‘socially diverse’, in which case qualifications don’t seem to matter any longer: not for the judiciary, not for the NHS which has announced yet another scheme:

“Thousands of hospital doctors without the highest level of training will be drafted into GP surgeries under plans to reduce waiting times and free up appointments. NHS bosses want to allow an intermediate class of doctors, who do not reach the level of consultant, to work in GP surgeries for the first time to ease pressure as the health service struggles to train enough family doctors.” (link, paywalled)

Now we understand why the NHS needs apprentice doctors in their hospitals! They need to replace, somehow, those doctors the NHS wants to send to GP surgeries, to ‘reduce waiting times’.

‘Intermediate’ doctors, ‘intermediate’ judges: what could go wrong! Hard work to earn a professional qualification is so elitist: clearly another instrument of oppression, of white privilege and patriarchism.

When will we see ‘government initiatives’ replacing those ‘intermediate’ professionals with AI? It’ll certainly be cheaper, and fewer ‘socially diverse’ people need to worry about having to study and work hard.

When will we hear an outcry in the Lefty MSM about this government creating a two-tier society where we, the plebs, are served by ‘intermediate’ professionals while ‘the elite’ will be served by top qualified doctors and barristers!

Finally, I’ll just point out that nobody in Westminster asks how come there are all these backlogs. Hint: lockdowns and covid years …. But we’ll not mention that. We better prepare ourselves to become just  numbers, just attachments to our smartphones which can be ‘ruled’ by AI, those rules implemented by ‘intermediate’ doctors and judges.

That’s all I have for today. I wonder which new ‘scheme’ Whitehall will come up with. What about ‘intermediate’ generals and admirals? Mind you – I’m sure we’ll never see ‘intermediate mandarins’! Have a good day.
