The Leave Means Leave Event was packed – people were queueing outside when we arrived even though we were half an hour early. It was very upbeat – everyone was given Union Jack flags and banners were waiting for us on the seats.
All the speakers were excellent including the organiser Richard Tice. Even Tim Martin (Wetherspoons) surprised me with an eloquent and uplifting speech. Ian Duncan Smith was extremely entertaining and came across as very genuine and a true believer – it’s a shame we haven’t heard so much from him lately!
Of course Nigel Farage brought the house down – he received a standing ovation on the way in and when he finished. Nigel needs no notes and didn’t use the plinth either – and he remembered to thank all the young banner wavers on the stage too – shaking hands with them. It makes you realise how much he is needed in the House of Commons.
The whole event certainly made me feel much more upbeat. The week has been difficult and it feels that we Brexiteers are being battered from every side. But it was good to be in a hall packed with ‘our own’ and I came out feeling happier, positive, and looking forward to the future, back straight and full of fighting spirit to do my bit. I started to feel the drive and nervousness we all had before the Referendum – totally fired up. The idea of fighting for Brexit again seems unfair, but after the Rally I felt ready to do it if I have to. It was fun too – lots of booing and laughter at the mention of any arch Remainers.
I spotted lots of old faces too – ex-Kippers and some who were still in the party but not as active, milling around and even giving out helpful leaflets etc. It was good to see them. The event drew us all together.
The message of the event was ‘’Let’s Go – WTO” and we were asked to shout it a few times at the end. As Nigel said, it would be great to have a good free trade deal with the EU, but we have to be clear that if our government cannot get their act together, we are leaving on WTO rules.
I’m glad I went along – I know we may end up fighting for Brexit all over again – and I feel a whole lot more confident about it now – we also have powerful, intelligent and committed people on our side.
We are in this together. Country before party – a lesson both the Tories and Labour could do with learning!
Parliament may be full of traitors, but on Thursday night Central Methodist Hall Westminster was full of Patriots. Bring it on!
67% of constituencies voted leave, this has not been ignored by the Tories, to do so would be electoral suicide. We will leave with no deal and £39billion in pocket. Relax.
I agree, the Leave means Leave rally at the Methodist Central Hall on Thursday was extremely well run, professionally put together and was a sell out. When I arrived, there was a queue about 300 yards long to get in. The speakers were truly superb, and Nigel Farage gave a real barnstorming speech, made without notes and verbally delivered without fault. He is the best prime minister we will never have, and got a standing ovation both prior to and after his speech Iain Duncan-Smith was also at the top of his game, and was really entertaining, and have to say he really surprised me to the point where I will listen to him a little bit more Don’t forget Esther McVey, she too was also equally impressive, and another politician that previously I had overlooked but will not any longer.
However, and this is the big however, where the hell is UKIP these days, they are being outplayed, outclassed and eclipsed by all and sundry. It is all very sad that the only true political party in this country fully committed to an independent nation outside of the European Union, is off the ball park altogether and nowhere to be seen and the days pass by without so much as a whimper. By rights, the party should be at the very forefront of the Brexit debate not occupying the sidelines, and should be putting on these type of events themselves. Unfortunately the leaders have allowed themselves to become distracted and are not focused on the main issue which goes to the very core of its existence. I just cannot fathom it out, as to how it has come to this.
Brexit has shown up Westminster to be full of evil shysters, chancers and spivs, not worth our time of day, never mind our vote. Whatever happens on 29 March we have surely lost our trust in parliament. We voted for Brexit and expected and were reassured that it would be acted upon. In the event the reverse happened, those that lost refused to accept the result and have toiled ever since to make sure Brexit never happens while trying to pretend it is all in our best interests. But we see them, we are onto them, they are an utter disgrace. But how do we rid ourselves of them? Who do we vote for next time? Our democracy is failing us.

One of which was that the top of ukip was bady put together, ill conceived and lacking in stature. Several attempts to remedy that were smothered. It remains so. However it remains a powerful machine to be used.
At the same time, Leave means Leave was top heavy, and equally oddly conceived and organised. The ability, largely unused, of LmL to get listened to, and expound and be believed was equalliy powerful.They had ‘Spokespeople’ available for everything , mostly MPs, mostly with authority. of their position.
If there is one thing lacking for the last 30 years in our uk. It’s organising. It’s all a bit brutish.
On BBC this morning this pretty girl was Claiming to be an organising Guru.
“The idea of fighting for Brexit again seems unfair”. Absolutely so; I am afraid that if it is allowed to go ahead there will be:
– either more than 2 options on the ballot paper
– the option to remain in the EU
Nothing is beyond the scum in government. We might also be in a position of not being able to abstain, so giving credibility to the ballot which government will also play on.
The whole shebang stinks like a barrel of rotten fish.
Seems unfair? It is more than unfair, democracy in this country has been ground down into the dust on the floor of the HoC. After the defeat of the WA it should have been immediately announced that we would be leaving on WTO terms, the legal default position in the event of a deal being rejected.
Instead the rats have been given some other garbage to gnaw on, and gnaw they will, using it as a mere tactic to achieve their aim of stopping Brexit without realising or caring about the longer term implications about what they have done/are doing.
Whilst opposing this as strongly as we can, we will need to play whatever hand we are dealt. In particular I am strongly of the opinion that we must not abstain in any future referendum, just making any kind of righteous gesture would be futile.
The big danger I see is the make up of the questions as you have pointed out. More than two options would lead to one stay option and two or more half baked, pseudo leave options and then it’s all over. For this reason I personally favour the same questions exactly as put in the first referendum, to deny another avenue to cheat.
Until very recently I never harboured the thought that our government and leaders would physically cheat the electorate, I do now!
