~~oo~~
When it comes to matters of life and death and personal security the world’s peoples choose their nation state. The COVID crisis has brought this home to all – except the arrogant globalist-corporate elitists who seek to “reset” the world in that very mould which has economically destroyed and alienated us all.
26 years ago I coined the term Nationism to describe the democratic sovereignty and therefore self government of free people who nevertheless reject chauvinism and nationalism (as they do its blood brother Supranationalism). Nationism is based on the peaceful interaction of free trading, democratic, enterprise-capitalist nation states with strong borders but open to fair commerce with all peaceful nation states. The enemies of Nationism are supranational powers, multinational corporations, corporatist and far left imperialism and the mass migrations which bring cheap labour for corporate and State profit.
These ideas are explored on this website’s home page under “About Freenations” and in the posts.
THE BITTER COST OF MASS MIGRATIONS
But perhaps the most moving and convincing argument for Nationism is to see how people in a crisis react when they are not at home in their own nation state and cannot freely go there.
When I lectured at the University of Mainz and I was preparing to come home for Christmas I recall watching sad Yugoslavs at the railway station saying goodbye to those of their family who could afford to go home while they could not.
A far more tragic case has arisen where a Polish patient (one of more than a million East Europeans who migrated for work) – whose name could not be revealed by order of the British courts – was hospitalised in Britain. Doctors had decided to allow him to die and, according to his family, to remove some of his organs because he had declared himself a potential donor.
His family and the Polish government requested that he be repatriated to his native country, where he could be treated with dignity. The Polish bishops had declared that they would cover all the costs. But the British courts decided that he should die in the United Kingdom. There are no more deep-seated desires at the end of one’s life than to return home – to the nation which gave you birth and gave you an identity (rather than a global number!). But this man and doubtless much of his family had been uprooted by economic forces (and EU free movement politics) to a foreign land.
As the above mentioned articles show there are of course fundamental alternatives to this brutal world view of the globalist elitists. When capital and goods and services can freely move then it spares individuals, families and whole peoples from becoming the nomads of the 21st century. But that is not what the corporatist EU or the world governing pretensions of the globalist cabal want. People and their aspirations are messy and of no consequence – so they must be moulded into phalanxes of workers and put at the bidding of supranational business. They cannot be allowed to stay at home and grow slowly and organically into a better life, attracting foreign investment and working for the land of their birth while preserving their language, culture and national history.
Yonko Grozev, one of George Soros’ former employees became a judge at the European Court of Human Rights, which on Appeal abandoned this Pole to his death in Britain. The ruthless corporatist George Soros and Klaus Schwab of the World Economic Forum never speak of individuals and their families and nations. They seek power and profit, even when, as in Soros’s case, he says the totalitarian Chinese Communist State must replace America as the world’s dominant power.
THE COVID CRISIS – GOING HOME
Since COVID struck, the UK population has fallen as EU citizens went home and immigrants from the EU stopped coming. Professor Jonathan Portes estimates the British population could have shrunk by 1.3m.
Early in the crisis the Italian Airline Alitalia said the four daily flights between Rome and London were “quite empty”. But on the return leg to Rome, its aircraft were “almost full” of Italian citizens who wanted to fly back to Italy. (Those people travelling to Italy had to fill in a declaration to say that their journey was essential!)
Such is the pull of the nation state. In a crisis the Italians in Britain knew where they wanted to be!
In Italy itself the care homes suffered a similar movement as East European nurses who worked the very long hours most Italians would not work suddenly left the country as the threat of border closures loomed. As a result, old people in need of care and disabled people, some without relatives, were left helpless and those care homes (as elsewhere) became centres of COVID infection.
Another Pole in Britain called Radek was walking by the sea as a relief from family problems and their effective imprisonment in the UK when he was arrested, handcuffed and strip-searched at the local police station.
“On top of that came personal family problems which we faced in the last months. They include the very serious illness of my wife’s brother and death of close relatives. We were not even able to say goodbye or go and attend the funeral in Poland.”
Only after 3 hours was he released and in a clear admission of the pointlessness of this fascist treatment he was released without charge.
Even within Britain it was evident that those who lived and worked in London (and were wealthy enough) took the first opportunity to move to their houses in the country. As with EU citizens living outside their own country many Londoners will take the long term decision to move and not return to where they felt trapped.
It is because the corporatist supranational elites and their centralised superstates fear this return to the world of nation states and democracy, to a world of national currencies and little migration that they speak of the “Great Re-set”. The will of free peoples and families with a love of their national homes and sovereign parliaments cannot be allowed to pull down the anti-democratic world of the globalist elitists. For that world was so carefully, secretly and ruthlessly established over decades.
But their edifice is crumbling and the people sense a change. Nationism will rise again.
Interesting article – made me think. An innocent question – Will the immigrants of the UK return to their countries – the Indians, Pakistanis for example or does it only relate to people born in the EU?
Graham. That sounds like the $64,000,000 question? Very interesting!
There are, to my mind, three relevant groups within society, probably a lot more, that can be considered as reactions to the present events used as a backdrop to Rodney Atkinson’s article.
One will support what is happening. They will support victimhood, abdicate the need to make decisions, refuse responsibility, and allow all to be brought down to the lowest denominator. They will berate anyone who does not agree with their laziness.
Or one will be a natural reactor without deep thought of ultimate consequences. But the knock will eventually be on their door too. They too will be herded.
Or one is a resister. They may be able to see where this is going and even if that vision is not complete are not prepared to allow it. They will refuse to be herded and will bear the brunt of oppression because they are not compliant. They will never ever consent, and never ever vote for any Conservative Labour or Liberal Democrat politician again.
Only the last group is righteous in my opinion
That’s a pretty accurate analysis of the situation Kim. It also serves to illustrate how deeply this Country has now divided along ‘sectarian’ lines. Extremely similar to the old religious divides that caused such troubles in our past. A very worrying trend.
Really ? I think it’s wierd.. It’s far too nit picky for me. Vomit is startng to rise. I really cannot be bothered by the difference between Nationism and Nationalism or indead many Isms. Make your bed and lie in it. It requires none of this stuff to feel compassion, or indeed guilt or anything else, but wallowing in it is tawdry, and more likely distasteful.. Stop incessiently moaning and help.. Build character not smother. We all help others occasionally, but we’re not all nurses.. A bit less Virtue signalling please.
I anticipate outrage. Dear God, I’m in trouble. Snigger.!
No outrage T.G.S. Your comment is clear. Perhaps that is how my brother would have seen it. He made his own bed and lay in it.
Here’s a laugh – snigger. He teased my mother, by talking about black men kneading the dough, at the bakery.

Roger. I have read a lot of articles but the above is one I’ve kept on my reading list. Hope it helps. Basically ‘they’ don’t want you to own anything. No privately owned property or goods! Everything will be provided for you!!! But of course that will entail you ‘behaving’ yourself and agreeing to abide by every decree (otherwise you might not get anything at all!). Much the same as serfdom!!
Hope this helps a bit. You could Google The Great Reset or try Klaus Schwab for more information.
Not owning anything? Everything provided but the benevolent provider can withold on a whim if you don’t ‘do as you are told’?
That is worse than serfdom – it sounds like being a child again.
To those who were loved and cherished by their parents that may not sound screeching alarm bells. But I was mentally abused. I hated the enforced dependence of childhood, I couldn’t wait to be self sufficient and independent.
It made me the libertarian and loather of socialism that I am today.
Helena Windsor. Thank you, thank you, for telling us that. In my case it was called ’emotionally abused’. It was by my mother. (My father sort of opted out as far as poss. He’d only married her on the understanding no children because of his weak chest and dying young.)
SHE was manipulative. My older brother found one way to cope. I was ‘passive’ outwardly but inside depressed.
Finally escaped to go to university as a mature student (got a grant), though she still expected me to return right up to her death.
Socialism – well yes. It is the ‘State Control’ that is loathsome, I agree. I never have voted Labour, though think I might have done, straight after WW2, if I had experienced that as an adult.
‘Not owning anything’? Not even ‘owning’ your own ‘self’, about sums it up for me.
“Let every man keep to his own caste, race and breed. Then whatever trouble falls in the ordinary course of things, neither sudden, alien nor unexpected”. Rudyard Kipling. Well, one doesn’t have to keep religiously to that!
Thank you Independence Daily for republishing this article here, where it can be discussed. That is one of the things I like so much about this site.
A few reactions to the article. I can understand the reluctance to use the word ‘nationalism’ but I would hope the word ‘patriotism’ can still be used !
Following from that:- What the hell is our future king doing supporting this ‘Great Reset’? I shudder at the thought.
Well we know our present P.M. is useless, so him going along with it comes as no surprise.
R.A.’s phrase ‘supranationalist business’ is key to my mind.
There is nothing wrong with capitalism. It has served Britain pretty well for a good many years – centuries in fact.
But it does depend on free trade between NATIONS.
This Global Reset idea is not to do with ‘capitalism’. It is part of cultural marxism’s plan to rule the world, in my opinion.
Rodney Atkinson, I certainly hope that you will be proved right. However, I have family members, who despite my constant attempts at discussion, refuse to accept that the concept of The Great Reset is in any way possible! I do not think that they are alone. The fact that so many have agreed, so easily, to subject themselves to the ‘vaccine’ (untried and untested over any sensible length of time) in the mistaken belief that it will protect them and give them freedom from ‘lockdown’, suggests that more minds are closed than open to the potential disaster that looms!
Those who plan such evil against the World and its peoples are without integrity, conscience or pity. They see only an ever ready harvest of ‘slaves’ to do their bidding or to be sacrificed on the altar of their psychotic derangement! Two World wars were fought to stop the advance of such evil. Many lives were lost in the struggle to keep the World free. But today, in the absence of true and patriotic leadership, the countries of the World stand upon the brink of the abyss once again!
Frederica you will have to bring me up to speed
I’ve heard of the Great Reset, probably on here, but memory of the details eludes me to the extent that I have’nt a clue as to its apparent to you and others toxicity.
Can anyone direct me to a double syiliable explanation?
I will Roger, ‘cos I had to look it up too. Google it (or whatever search engine you use). It was the name of the meeting of the World Economic Forum held in June 2020.
There is a Wikipedia explanation which might suit you.
Under the pretext of looking after all the worlds people during the Covid crisis and the Global Warming crisis, the leaders of the world, and the leaders of Global Companies, Greta Thunberg, Prince Charles, et al come together to spout a load of twaddle on how they are going to rule the world better in future.
This may help Roger. https://greatreset.com/
Roger my reply to you ended up further towards the top of this debate!!! I messed up trying to copy and paste the link!!!!
Thanks to all who have attempted to help me, I will look at all the sources you have given me, but it will take me a little while
But until then I can join in what I hope will be a crescendo of disapproval hopefully being generated on here.
How the hell red we going to inform thr rest of 95 per cent of our population who like me haven’t a clue, they won’t look it up, even if the MSM revolted and told them where to
Frederica. Yes, let’s hope that R.A. is right. He is pointing out that when threatened with a ‘crisis’ every person wants to return ‘home’ and that means our own country. Come to think – what has happened in the EU, over the ‘vaccine shortage blunder’? Haven’t individual Countries started to say we have the right to hang on to our own supplies.
Pauline I’m sure your right. I think I’ve read that too. Let’s hope that individual Nations are at last waking up to the fact that dictatorial ‘overlords’ aka the EU are ‘not good for their health’!!!!
I once met another Englishman in the remote mountains of Brazil. My fellow countryman was fascinated when I told him where I’d been living for thirty years and said: “but you are so English still, all of your travels and experiences have left you completely untouched.”
I have multiple citizenships and permanent residency status in many other countries but I remain British, specifically English. It takes more than a piece of paper to make you British or any other nationality, as we’re about to find out when we are forced into race wars.
We should never have fallen for this globalist, multicultural BS and we are going o pay the price for our naive stupidity.
That may be so but in Britain today most people with even a reliable and moderate income stream who find multi-culti urban life and mass immigration unaceptable opt to take the safer and easier option of joining the multitude of white flighters rather than become politically active. Becoming politically active on even the moderate right is fraught with hazards for your business or your career in modern Britain! Perhaps when they start concreting over the Cotswolds, Vale of York and a multitude of other salubrious verdant retreats of ‘Middle England’ to accomodate the sheer numbers wishing to relocate then panic may set in. Even then, the white flighters will be looking to others to stick their heads above the political parapet. But of course, it may well be far too late, if not already.
Anyone who was an activist with UKIP as I was for 20 years will know exactly what I am talking about regarding the appetite for recruiting political activists. Even when it came to the fevered height of the 2016 referendum campaign I could only rely on half a dozen people out of a membership just shy of 100 to deliver leaflets! The vast majority of our members were too afraid to even put a Vote Leave poster in their garden.
Jake. I’ve just patted myself on the back, reading your comment. I’d not lived here very long at the time of the Referendum but I had the courage to plaster my windows with every available poster saying why we must vote to leave the EU.
And I waylaid anyone I could to urge them likewise!
“Nationism will rise again.”
I trust it will but we must prepare to assist using any and all necessary means. A good start would be to rid ourselves of those politicians who meekly comply.
And the Prince of Wales it seems Jack. Though looking at U.S.A. now, republicanism is clearly not the answer either!
