LIZ TRUSS is looking to keep up her record of bolstering Global Britain as she heads to Mexico today to boost economic cooperation.
Ms Truss became a firm favourite among Tory members after securing dozens of post-Brexit trade deals as International Trade Secretary. Taking on her new role as Foreign Secretary last week, Ms Truss is looking to continue promoting trade with the UK around the world.
The South West Norfolk MP will today travel directly from the UN General Assembly in New York to Mexico City.
During her visit she will hold talks with her Mexican counterpart, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard.
Mexico is due to be the world’s seventh biggest economy by 2050 and boosting trade with the Central American country is a key part of the Government’s post-Brexit strategy.
Earlier this year the UK applied to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

Boris Johnson and Joe Biden privately expressed astonishment at France’s heated reaction to the Aukus pact, as the Prime Minister urged Emmanuel Macron, the French president, to “get a grip”.
Mr Johnson and the US president are understood to have discussed their surprise at the fury from Paris when they met for talks at the White House on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the Prime Minister deployed franglais as he told the French to “prenez un grip and donnez-moi un break” over the row – roughly translated as “get a grip and give me a break”.
He later said he was “taken aback” by Mr Macron’s response, which included withdrawing ambassadors from the US and Australia.
On Wednesday night, there were suggestions that the French could withdraw from Nato’s integrated military command.
Speaking about the row, Mr Johnson said: “There are no easy ways of having these conversations. It’s a very human thing to delay the frank conversation until the last possible moment. I don’t know if anyone has been in that situation in their emotional life, but it’s very human to put it off.
“Everybody has been a bit taken aback by the strength of the French reaction, and we all want to reach out to Paris and sort something out.”

GERMAN Foreign Minister Heiko Mass has suggested “resentment on the French side” caused the breakdown of a key meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
It comes amid an ongoing dispute over a new security pact in the Indo-Pacific between Australia, Britain and the USA, known as AUKUS.
The deal’s announcement caused anger in France as it led to the end of the nation’s own deal with Australia, worth £27billion (31.5m euros).
French foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian described it as a “stab in the back”, and suggested it amounts to “unacceptable behaviour between allies and partners”.
A meeting of foreign ministers from the US, France, UK and Germany was due to take place during the UN assembly, taking place from September 20 – 24.
Mr Mass said: “There is resentment on the French side, which I can understand well.”

The Home Office’s top mandarin today admitted that Priti Patel‘s ‘pushback’ tactics for Channel migrants will only be used on a ‘small proportion’ of boats.
During tetchy clashes with MPs, Matthew Rycroft dodged saying when the policy would be put in place, or even categorically that it will be.
However, he insisted there was a ‘legal base’ for the manoeuvre to be carried out in ‘certain limited circumstances’.
France previously responded with fury after Priti Patel ordered the tactic to be developed amid mounting alarm at the numbers attempting the Channel crossing.
Experts also questioned how it could be used without either sinking the unstable boats and risking passengers dying, or breaking maritime law.
Giving evidence to the Commons Home Affairs Committee, Mr Rycroft said Border Force officers had been ‘preparing and trialling’ the ‘new maritime tactic’.
However, he confirmed it had ‘not been deployed yet’ and this would only happen when ‘all of the circumstances are in place to allow them to be deployed in a safe and legal way’.

Eco-activists who have caused chaos to drivers could be banned from the entire motorway network.
Government lawyers were last night examining whether to apply for sweeping powers that could see protesters locked up if they set foot on the trunk roads.
It comes after an interim injunction was granted banning them from the M25, the scene of five disruptive protests in the past ten days.
Breaching the injunction could lead to up to two years in jail, an unlimited fine and confiscation of assets.
However, just hours after the injunction was granted yesterday, activists blocked the road outside the Home Office in London and burned copies of their police bail papers.
A spokesman for Insulate Britain – an offshoot of Extinction Rebellion – accused Home Secretary Priti Patel of ‘missing the bigger picture’.
‘Currently 8,500 people a year die unnecessarily in the UK because of their frozen homes and climate collapse presents an incalculable threat to our way of life,’ the spokesman said.
‘A more measured way in which she could discharge her ministerial responsibility would be to ask the Prime Minister to start the process of insulating Britain’s leaky homes.
‘As soon as the Government makes a meaningful statement that we can trust, we will leave the motorway.’

Cop26 must be a “turning point for humanity” in just 40 days’ time, Boris Johnson has urged in a call to arms to fellow global leaders ahead of the climate summit in Glasgow.
Addressing the UN general assembly in New York on Wednesday evening, Johnson warned it was time for humanity to “grow up”.
“It is time for us to listen to the warnings of the scientists – and look at Covid, if you want an example of gloomy scientists being proved right – and to understand who we are and what we are doing.”
“The world – this precious blue sphere with its eggshell crust and wisp of an atmosphere – is not some indestructible toy, some bouncy plastic romper room against which we can hurl ourselves to our heart’s content,” he added.
He compared humanity to an impetuous 16-year-old “just old enough to get ourselves into serious trouble”.
“We have come to that fateful age when we know roughly how to drive and we know how to unlock the drinks cabinet and to engage in all sorts of activity that is not only potentially embarrassing but also terminal,” he said.

Another 800,000 households fell victim to the energy crisis on Wednesday with the collapse of two more suppliers, as ministers admitted they were considering a windfall tax on companies profiting from record gas prices.
The failure of Avro Energy and Green means that seven energy companies have gone bust in a little over six weeks, with a total of more than 1.5m households now being shunted on to a new supplier and forced to pay hundreds of pounds more for their gas and electricity a year.
With soaring gas prices threatening the viability of all but the biggest firms, the business secretary, Kwasi Kwarteng, warned the government had to prepare for “long-term high prices”, and would consider “all options” to tackle the crisis.
Boris Johnson, speaking ahead of his speech to the UN general assembly in New York, said the crisis was the “growing pains of the global economy coming back to life”.
Pressure is mounting on ministers to find ways of providing some financial support for households, which are due to be hit with a £139 increase in bills next month – some of the most expensive energy bills on record.
Combined with the £20 universal credit cut and rising inflation, Labour and some Tory MPs have warned of a potentially catastrophic cost of living crisis.

The woman who created the Oxford vaccine has said Covid is unlikely to mutate into a much deadlier variant and will eventually just cause the common cold.
Professor Dame Sarah Gilbert said ‘there aren’t very many places for the virus to go to have something that will evade immunity but still be a really infectious virus’.
She said viruses tend to ‘become less virulent as they circulate’ through the population, adding: ‘There is no reason to think we will have a more virulent version of Sars-CoV-2’.
Dame Sarah said the virus which causes Covid-19 will eventually become like the coronaviruses which circulate widely and cause the common cold.
Her comments come as Professor Chris Whitty warned that almost all unvaccinated children will become infected with Covid at some point in the future and around half of youngsters have already caught the virus.
Speaking at a Royal Society of Medicine seminar, Dame Sarah said: ‘We already live with four different human coronaviruses that we don’t really ever think about very much and eventually Sars-CoV-2 will become one of those.

I’m not very convinced this was a good selection or even good evidence, the chap was obviously spaced out of his head.
There was one bit when the agony finally ended, where the chap gave evidence of his training and how a governmement department evaluates its patients, cost benefit seems to be the major criteria, a couple of deaths at 5 million dollars each total cost doesn’t cut much ice.

Now I am upset. I learned from GB News this morning that the Starmer vision is 14,000 words spread over a mere 29 pages, not enough to kindle any of my stockpile of cow pats I have been saving pending the demise of the cow.
