BORIS JOHNSON is set to be crowned the new leader of the Conservative Party today in a landslide victory that will give him a mandate to strike a new Brexit deal with the EU. After a month of hustings, the winner of the Tory leadership contest will be revealed at 11.45am this morning. The winner will then enter No10 tomorrow after Theresa May is given a final send off in the Commons at Prime Minister’s Questions.
Mail
Boris Johnson will today appeal to his warring party to unite behind him after an extraordinary attempt by one of his own MPs to prevent him becoming Prime Minister. Barring a last-minute shock, Mr Johnson is set to be named as the Conservative Party’s new leader this morning following a six-week contest that has been dominated by Brexit. Sources in Mr Johnson’s camp last night predicted he would secure more than 60 per cent of the vote, giving him a ‘free hand’ to sack his enemies and steer the Tories on a new course.
Telegraph
Britain will learn who its next prime minister will be today as the result of a Tory leadership contest dominated by Boris Johnson is announced. Mr Johnson is clear favourite to take the crown over his run-off rival, Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, an outcome that could spark more Government resignations. Ministers opposed to his “do or die” pledge to pull the UK out of the EU on October 31, even if there is no deal in place, could exit before Theresa May formally gives up the premiership on Wednesday afternoon.
Prorogation
Independent
A cross-party group of MPs and peers is taking legal action to ensure the UK’s likely next prime minister Boris Johnson cannot suspend parliament to force through a no-deal Brexit. The group is seeking a ruling in Scotland’s Court of Session that the prime minister cannot lawfully advise the Queen to use a mechanism called prorogation to suspend sittings of the House of Commons in the run-up to the 31 October deadline for Brexit.
Express
THE QUEEN could be forced into the Brexit melee when a new Prime Minister is installed, as those on both sides of the debate turn to the monarch as a final hope. Boris Johnson, the frontrunner in the Tory leadership race, is widely expected to take over as Prime Minister this week. Mr Johnson and his team have caused alarm among some Tories over the potential to prorogue Parliament and force through a no deal Brexit, which has been blocked in a vote of MPs.

PANICKING EU countries have been secretly trying to woo Boris Johnson in a bid to thrash out a new Brexit plan that would avoid a no-deal outcome, it emerged yesterday. Senior Irish politicians and diplomats have held peace talks with two of Mr Johnson’s Cabinet allies. German and French figures, as well as the Dutch and Belgian governments, have also established contacts with Mr Johnson’s team and signalled an intention to do a deal.
The Economic Voice
If recent reports are to be believed, then the EU looks to be getting more and more alarmed at the prospect of a no deal Brexit. According to a report from The Times, five EU member states have been secretly talking with the Boris Johnson team to try and prevent what they see as a no deal disaster. According to the report, senior politicians from the Irish Republic have had talks with two of the Boris team, while the German, French, Dutch and Belgian governments have also indicated the willingness to come to some sort of arrangement.

Boris Johnson is prepared to turn on the spending taps by borrowing money to help the squeezed middle classes if he is confirmed as the new Tory leader on Tuesday. The former foreign secretary is in favour of a policy of “fiscal loosening” that would reverse the tight controls on public spending imposed by Philip Hammond. He is determined to honour promises to give tax breaks to everyone who earns less than £80,000, and is ready to pause the current policy of bringing down the deficit.
Times
Boris Johnson has held secret meetings with Philip Hammond, David Gauke and Rory Stewart as part of a charm offensive amid concerns that they will prove to be a “nightmare” on the back benches. The former foreign secretary organised the meetings as part of a bid to unite the party amid opposition to his “do or die” approach to leaving the EU with or without a deal on October 31.
Guardian
Boris Johnson has been put on notice by rebel Conservatives that he will not survive long as prime minister unless he drops his no-deal Brexit agenda, as he stands on the brink of entering Downing Street. Johnson is expected to be announced as the choice of the Conservative party to be the next prime minister on Tuesday morning after running a campaign against Jeremy Hunt that promised to take the UK out of the EU by the end of October “do or die”.

SUPPORT for Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has plummeted after a new poll has shown a shocking loss of backing from his own party members. The YouGov poll found that 43 percent of 1,100 members surveyed said Mr Corbyn was doing a bad job as party leader, a considerable increase on the 19 per cent recorded in March 2018. Just 56 per cent those surveyed found that he was doing a good job which is massively down on the 80 percent surge of support he saw last year after a successful 2017 General Election which brought the Tory majority to an end.
Telegraph
Jeremy Corbyn’s new proposals for dealing with anti-Semitism were condemned as a “cop-out” by Labour MPs on Monday night, as the party confirmed it had only expelled eight members in the past six months. In an attempt to end a long-running row, Mr Corbyn has unveiled plans which hand one of his closest allies a role in disciplining members accused of anti-Jewish racism. Under his proposals, Jennie Formby, Labour’s general secretary, would join a special panel to rule on serious cases.
BBC News
Jeremy Corbyn has proposed changes to Labour’s complaints system to speed up the expulsion of members over anti-Semitism. He told his frontbench team he wanted to “confront this poison”, but the process sometimes took too long. A statement from shadow cabinet said they supported the proposals, but still backed “independent oversight” as well. Labour said eight party members were expelled in the first six months of 2019 over anti-Semitism allegations.
Times
Jeremy Corbyn set out plans yesterday to expel antisemites from Labour more swiftly after the party admitted that as few as eight had been removed in the past six months. Mr Corbyn wants Labour’s internal disciplinary panels to be able to eject those accused in the most extreme cases without having to go to a second committee. The plans fall short of calls by Tom Watson, the deputy leader, for an independent process to handle complaints.
Independent
Jeremy Corbyn has outlined proposals to accelerate the expulsion of antisemites from Labour‘s ranks, as he vowed to “confront this poison” at an emergency meeting of the shadow cabinet. Following weeks of damaging internal rows over the party’s handling of antisemitism allegations, the Labour leader told his top team he would propose a “new way of dealing with the most extreme cases”. His remarks came ahead of a meeting of Labour’s governing body – the National Executive Committee (NEC) – on Tuesday to discuss options geared at improving disciplinary procedures already in place.
Guardian
Jeremy Corbyn has set out new plans to ramp up the expulsion of antisemites from the Labour party at an emergency shadow cabinet meeting, though MPs later angrily questioned why the proposal did not have detail on independent oversight as demanded by senior MPs. The proposals, which were backed by the shadow cabinet, came before a restive meeting of MPs on Monday night, where MPs including Yvette Cooper and Peter Kyle called on the Labour leader to reflect on why antisemites might be attracted to join the party.

Boris Johnson risks losing millions of Tory voters to the Liberal Democrats under their new leader Jo Swinson because of his no-deal Brexit strategy, a cabinet minister has warned. David Gauke, the justice secretary who will resign tomorrow, told The Times that no-deal will “play into the hands” of the Lib Dems, who now have an “energetic and passionate” leader. Ms Swinson, 39, yesterday became the first woman to lead the Liberal Democrats as she was elected with nearly two thirds of the votes cast by party members.

JO SWINSON could win millions of Tory voters to the Liberal Democrats according to a sensational claim by outgoing Justice Secretary David Gauke. Ms Swinson was elected as new Liberal Democrat leader ahead of today’s conclusion of the Tory leadership race. The new leader was previously a minister in the coalition Government and has vowed to do “whatever it takes” to stop Brexit. Mr Gauke is set to resign tomorrow, and says no deal which both Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt have said they would be prepared to push forward with, would “play into the hands” of the new “energetic and passionate” leader.

Jo Swinson promised yesterday to do “whatever it takes” to stop Brexit as she became the first female leader of the Liberal Democrats. The MP for East Dunbartonshire was announced the winner of the party’s leadership contest, beating the former cabinet minister Sir Ed Davey, 53, by 47,997 votes to 28,021 in a ballot of party members. She said she was delighted to have been given the task of leading the most avidly pro-remain of the main parties, adding that she was “ready for the fight of our lives”.

Jo Swinson has been elected as the first ever female leader of the Liberal Democrats after she inflicted a crushing defeat on her challenger Sir Ed Davey. The 39-year-old mother-of-two will succeed Sir Vince Cable after she secured more than 47,000 votes in the contest with Sir Ed trailing far behind with just over 28,000. Politicians such as justice secretary David Gauke, who will resign tomorrow, have now stepped in and said the Tory party could lose voters to the ‘energetic and passionate leader’.

Britain’s Liberal Democrat party elected a new leader Monday, with the successful candidate using her first messages to party members to promise that she would be doing everything in her power to prevent the United Kingdom from leaving the European Union. Jo Swinson became the first female leader of the Liberal Democrats Monday, when she took 62 per cent of 76,429 members’ votes cast in the leadership ballot against Sir Ed Davey.

The number of migrants arriving in Britain so far this year having crossed the Channel is more than double the figure for the whole of last year, the home secretary said yesterday. Sajid Javid told the Commons home affairs select committee that 1,150 people had tried to cross the Channel so far this year, of whom 750 arrived in the UK. The remainder were intercepted by the French authorities. In the whole of last year, 297 migrants arrived in the country after making the journey on small boats from France.

Britain will seek to create a European-led maritime mission to protect commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, Jeremy Hunt announced yesterday as he resisted pressure from Washington to join a US-led task force against Iran. The Foreign Office is starting to look more like a department in Donald Trump’s administration – with top officials having resigned, been suspended or been busy trying to become prime minister. All of which is not very helpful in the middle of a major crisis with Iran. The secretary of state, Jeremy Hunt, is unsure if he will have a job once he probably loses to Boris Johnson in the PM race.

BRITAIN has announced plans to put together a Europe-led warship mission to help protect tankers after a UK-flagged vessel was seized by Iran. Foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt announced the plans in a statement to the House of Commons as tensions rise between Britian and Iran. Junior defence minister Tobias Ellwood has called on the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to recognise the poor state of the Royal Navy when they take power, in comments that follow a British owned tanker being seized by Iranian gunboats in the Straits of Hormuz. The Royal Navy is too small to do its job, Conservative cabinet member at the Ministry of Defence Tobias Elwood has said, amid an ongoing crisis which has seen a British-flagged oil tanker boarded and captured by gunboats of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

Children are dying because Britain has a ‘second rate’ baby screening programme, a report has warned. The UK lags behind most other developed nations at identifying rare diseases through its screening of infants, commonly known as the heel prick test. The NHS screens babies for just nine genetic conditions – compared with 57 in the United States and 43 in Italy. A report by the charity Genetic Alliance UK said this ‘cruel’ system means children miss out on life-saving treatment because their conditions are not detected until it is too late.

GPs’ receptionists will divert patients to see pharmacists in a bid to relieve pressure on family doctors. The NHS plan aims to prevent 20 million GP appointments, with many of those telephoning for help instead offered a “same day” slot at a local chemist. Health officials said the moves would mean more accessible and convenient access to services. But patients’ groups said the measures were “worrying” – with fears that critical decisions could end up being taken by those with little training in how to assess patients.
Times
Up to 20 million GP appointments a year will be dealt with by pharmacists to cut waiting times. From October patients who phone the NHS 111 helpline with sore throats, headaches, earache and other minor ailments will be offered a same-day appointment with their local pharmacist. Eventually, GPs and A&Es will also refer patients to pharmacies, allowing patients to avoid lengthy waits for medical advice.

A summer of disruption for holidaymakers moved a step closer yesterday after British Airways pilots voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action, saying that the airline had refused to change its position despite three days of intense negotiations. Ninety-three per cent of the 4,000 BA pilots who are members of the British Airline Pilots’ Association (Balpa) backed action on a turnout of 90 per cent over a pay dispute. About 500 BA pilots are not members of the union.

Carl Beech, a narcissist, fantasist and now a convicted paedophile, must have been cock-a-hoop. Tom Watson, then a backbench MP and soon to be elected the Labour Party’s deputy leader, had granted Beech an audience. This was Beech’s opportunity to tell Mr Watson of the sexual abuse he had suffered at the hands of a murderous paedophile gang that had operated from the Palace of Westminster. The meeting would set in chain the perfect storm.

Police and politicians who promoted lurid claims of an establishment paedophile ring faced condemnation last night after the man behind them was found guilty of making false allegations. Tom Watson, Labour’s deputy leader, was urged to make a full apology to public figures named by the paedophile Carl Beech, who was convicted of 13 charges of perverting the course of justice and fraud.

Labour’s deputy leader Tom Watson is facing calls to quit after he championed paedophile Carl Beech’s lies about being abused by a murderous VIP sex abuse ring. Beech – known as ‘Nick’ – made up preposterous tales and ruined the lives and reputations of some of Britain’s most distinguished public servants. Daniel Janner QC branded Watson a ‘paedo-finder general’, slamming the ‘moral panic’ after it included Beech accusing his father, Lord Janner.
Loch Ness Monster

Conspiracy theorists risk hypothermia and drowning if they follow through with a plan to storm Loss Ness in search of its infamous “monster”, the RNLI has warned. Nearly 60,000 people have signalled their interest in “storming” Loch Ness to find the fabled monster, prompted a warning from the local lifeguard crew about the treacherous nature of the loch. The viral event comes after more than a million people pledged to attend a similar gathering at Area 51, the US military base in Nevada linked to alien activity by conspiracy theorists.

THOUSANDS of monster hunters planning to swamp Loch Ness have sparked a safety warning. About 18,000 have signed up to “storm” the Scottish loch to try to find the fabled Nessie. It follows an online move to descend on the Area 51 US military base which conspiracy theorists say holds alien tech. But the RNLI says the 230m-deep loch’s 6C waters could cause cold shock and hypothermia. “With no US Army involved, Loch Ness looks a little less hazardous than storming Area 51, but here we have our own set of problems,” the RNLI team said on Facebook.
Some voters resemble new submariners ! ! ! ….. In a full-on force 10 storm, the surface of an ocean is not the place to be, but a submarine can dive to a quieter depth. Voters that are the blood and bone of a political Party, will dive with the submarine and later resurface to check for any damage. – Voters who are lighter weight supporters, continuing the analogy, will go AWOL in that weather and not rejoin the submarine’s compliment, even though they will face some Courts Marshall or other punishment.
Conservative and Labour fair weather supporters, will defect to the Brexit Party or Liberal Democrats. Afterwards their punishment will be to live in the state that the Nation is in, after the storm ! ….. Now spare a thought for UKIP supporters. – Their submarine was found to have holes in it, unable to put to sea, and so stayed on the surface to be utterly destroyed ! Those holes were made by some of its officers. – They said it was to let some clean air into the submarine, but of course it only assisted the storm’s total destruction of the submarine !
Any vessel, surface or submarine, is not taken by the customer from the ship yard, until it has been given full sea trials and signature given as to acceptance of it ‘Being a Well Found Vessel’. ….. The HMS UKIP was signed off by Captain Batten, but since a nonsensical mutiny against him, the vessel was lost. That loss included a most able Captain and crew who all perished, while the mutinous officers stayed ashore, to find what else they could destroy !
Hope you enjoyed this story kiddies. ….. Now off to sleep, and God Bless !
The submarine needs to be rebuilt, another refurbishment, simple closing visible holes and captain change will be not enough. The vessel will keep taking water and finally will sink. New blueprints need to be work of a team of excellent designers to avoid all faults and possible hazards – both internal and external. I fear the vessel could be the only chance to have safe future of our island – other ships heading straight to icebergs or are too small to allow alternative transport for islanders.
So Boris has been crowned Conservative party leader, and thus will become Prime Minister.
While I’m glad this charade is now over, it does reveal again just how much contempt for democracy our ‘elected’ Members of Parliament and Government have.
A ballot was taken of Conservative party members, and they have by some margin voted for Boris Johnson to become their new party leader.
And what is the first thing that many Tory MPs and Cabinet members will do? Show absolute disdain for their paying members, by plotting to undermine Boris and bring down his Government, or just by throwing their toys out of the pram and resigning their ministerial position. Just to ‘stop Brexit’.
As well as showing contempt for democratic decisions, it just shows a lack of respect all round.
What makes things worse is that a majority of Tory MPs voted for Johnson to actually stand in this contest!
Its a bit like the majority of MPs voting in favour of having a referendum, voting in favour of enacting Article 50, and then having a major hissy fit about actually leaving the EU!
Politics is just a joke. And a very unfunny one at that.
Surely you have ALL heard the adage……….’The Devil you know is better than the Devil you don’t know’.
Whether the country likes it or not – and whether UKIP likes it or not – the ‘Tommy’ supporters DO have a vote, even in our odd version of Democracy – do they have sufficient support to make a significant difference or sway an election? Time will tell.
What is significant to me, and still puzzles me somewhat, is EXACTLY WHY Gerard took the apparent risk in involving himself, one way and nother with Tommy. History will ultimately disclose his full reasoning. For me? I like Gerard immensely – and the main reason was because of his dogged British courage to ‘beard the lion’ at every turn. Nobody could fault him for guts! We may now disappear into the abyss without men of his great quality – Yes, the grass is lways greener……………!
Mister P, I feel that a great proportion of those for whom grooming gangs in historically immigrant communities is an important factor in party choice, also hold the importance of issues which many associate with EU membership. In other words, many of us hold islamification, immigration and Brexit to be high if not the highest factors for who to vote for.
And running through all of that is the fact that Brexit alone has and is consuming people’s attention politically, and questions on grooming and free speech about which Tommy and many others are campaigning, are having to take a back seat. Brexit and all the associated BS the scum in Parliament are putting us through is completely eclipsing the other issues voting-wise, and let’s hope to God it’s temporarily.
We just gotta get out the damn EU, then we can tackle the next item down the list (importance-wise, only just below), be it islam, immigration generally, social care, the number of RN ships – whatever.

This comprehensively falsifies all the IPPC’s claims regarding the effect of human-caused carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere on surface temperature.

In the light of the above methinks all energy-related policies based on this falsified hypothesis should be reviewed.
In particular, plans to blow up any more coal power stations in Britain or destroy any of our energy infrastructure based on IPCC opinion on Global Warming should be stopped immediately pending rigorous review.
Perhaps shares held in renewables should be sold. Short-selling could be considered.

According to kipper Central: UKIP Head Office Cancelling Memberships Of Gerard Batten Supporters (https://kippercentral.com/2019/07/22/exclusive-ukip-head-office-cancelling-memberships-of-gerard-batten-supporters/)
“Members who protest to UKIPs Head Office and tell them that if Gerard Batten is not on the ballot paper they will not renew their membership are having their membership automatically CANCELLED by Head Office”
I also tried to follow the videos from UKIP leadership candidates, tried as these are boring, without a trace of any spark and none of remaining 4 candidates is a leader material (my opinions only).
Mike Hookem – people like him are reason behind long ongoing demise of the UKIP rather than solution. He dreams to be mainstream.
Richard Braine – Gerard Batten substitute, even less charisma and I do not believe that survive can be branded as success.
Ben Walker – his “grassroots revolution” lacks in details and as far as I can understand it still will be the leadership (NEC) who will decide on selection of policies.
Freddy Vachha – described himself as the “unity candidate” with a solution to any problem party is or will face, I am surprised that he did not single-handed make the UK to leave the EU yet. Baron Münchhausen in my opinion.
All candidates are flirting with idea of direct democracy within the party, but not ready to implement it fully which will not help at all.
And one of them has a criminal record.
You need to do a bit more research. Google is your friend.
You also should have attended a husting.
I am not using Google – friendly spy. I recommend duckduckgo.com. I could not attend I am no longer member – just supporter. What have I miss?
There is no compromising with Hammond, Gawke and co. Boris needs to be ruthless and implacable in destroying their careers. As for the millions of “Tories” voting for the LimpDims in the event of a no deal, a) they aren’t really Conservatives b) even more millions coming back from the BXP will more than make up the difference.
Very true.
Kev you sound like a man who would be much happier with the Conservative Party, especially after events today.
What is it about UKIP makes you want to hang around, I mean the Tories at least have a proven track record of getting people elected at a GE.
Hi Rob. I’m a free agent now. My UKIP membership lapsed on Jul 1. I am now party – neutral. However I do back BoJo- for now- as I can’t see any other way of getting Brexit at a practical level and until we get that , all other policies or ideas are so much hot air.
I don’t like TBP, mainly because they stitched up Catherine Blaiklock, who I consider a friend, and because I think there are a lot of pure hangers on within TBP snuffling in the Brussels money trough.
On the UKIP side I like Freddy, again I consider him a friend and so remain loyal, however I think that UKIP is going to have a hell of a time regaining any influence.
Trust you are well my friend !
