I must have been around twenty five years old at the time. We were on passage from Charlotte Amalie on the U.S. Virgin Islands, heading towards Panama to transit the canal. The winds had been light and the passage had stretched to nearly two weeks. We were worried because the port authorities would only allow yachts to transit the canal in groups, maybe once or twice a week.
Eventually we moored up in Colon at the Caribbean end of the canal to process the endless paperwork that would be required before we could transit. By now it was the weekend and so we had time on our hands; four British sailors that had been at sea for two weeks, well, they could get into trouble in a place like Colon.
After tying up the yacht it was lunchtime and we decided to get something to eat and perhaps a beer. We found an air conditioned bar. It was a relief to get away from the sweltering heat. We had lunch and a few beers. The trouble was, at midnight we were still there. The ladies of the night had found us dressed in their ridiculously short skirts and low cut blouses, they sat on our laps, laughed, joked and played pool with us.
Sometime after midnight, a group of young men dressed in tuxedos walked into the bar. They too laughed and joked. They challenged us to a game. After a couple of games they suggested that maybe we would like to have a bet on the game, us against them. Young as I was, I was not naive – they were ace players and I knew they were out to fleece us. In parts of the world such as this, such men considered all Westerners wealthy and fair game.
In our drunkenness we agreed and as the night progressed the sums got larger and larger until there was a fair bit of money at stake. There’s a funny trait that I have: I am hopeless at pool but when I’m paralytic after about the tenth pint, I get my eye in and then I rarely miss. Friends have commented on this amazing ability.
It was my turn at the table and that last beer did the trick. Although I could hardly stand, I cleared the table and our pool shark friends owed us some money. At first, they were just embarrassed at being beaten by a drunken sailor that could barely stand but when we insisted on the money, things got really nasty. Eventually some US Marines from a ship in port came to back us up and saved the day.
The above is a lesson worth learning: when people want something from you, want to rip you off, they are always so friendly. It isn’t until things don’t go their way that you see them in their true colours. When you see someone in their true colours, the real person behind the smile, then you see just how nasty they really are and unfortunately I’ve seen this all to often.
We’ve certainly seen this behaviour from the European Union, haven’t we. The organisation that was going to end wars, create a peaceful and prosperous utopia. We’ve seen just how nasty these Eurocrats have become since the British people saw them for what they are and voted to leave. The nastiness goes on but there are still those naive people that yet believe in the false dream and refuse to wake up.
In the United States, I think the world knows that the 2020 election was stolen. It was fraud and now, slowly at first but gathering momentum, the truth is emerging. How do you think that Biden and the Democrats are going to react when confronted with the truth? Do you think they are going to be nice? My guess is that Biden will call upon the United Nations to back him up. The globalists have no intention of letting Trump back into power. The US now is a powder keg and one way or another we must expect trouble.
Our own government is realising that an ever increasing number of us just don’t believe them anymore and they’re becoming increasingly draconian, particularly now that we’re waking up to the Covid-19 fraud. Now it seems that if we embarrass the UK government, we can look forward to up to fourteen years in Prison.
Then there are the sixty to seventy thousand illegal immigrants that have turned up on our shores, with up to a thousand a day still crossing the English Channel in rubber boats. How do you think they will react when they don’t get their way? Already, they burnt down their accommodation at an army barracks. It was good enough for our soldiers but not for them. This is just the beginning though. What do you think will happen if we tried to deport them or refused to clothe, feed and give them money? I think that then we’ll soon see another side of them.
“The Great Awakening,” as it is known these days, is happening, not nearly fast enough but it is happening. It is when people wake up that totalitarian regimes throughout history have revealed themselves as the tyrants that they really are, the smiles and the reassurances give way to tyranny and repression. This is the point where we now find ourselves and we are soon going to have to face up to this.
Expect and prepare for trouble, it is coming our way whether we like it or not. We’re at a very dangerous crossroads, things have gone too far now and what we consider to be normal is not coming back until we’ve fought for it.
Humans are exploiters, among other things. I’m not saying that is necessarily a bad thing but a part of the human condition that has to be accepted.
Not only were the ‘young men in tuxedos’ looking to exploit but also the girls with short dresses, of course.
Now we are desperately looking for ways out of the mess our laziness apathy and selfishness has got us into. This generally speaking there is very little black and white.
This is also a time for exploitation.
Digital currency may be just one of the tricks in play to make short term profit from the panic. Rare metals could be another.
The best answer I have come across so far is community, love care charity and preparedness. Unless people try and prepare themselves they will be cursing themselves all the way to the concentration camps.
Common Law may also be a false flag. I haven’t worked that one out yet. Trump was in favour of vaccines?? I haven’t worked that one out either. Q Anon, where did that get the American people?
We are finding those we trusted have gone along with what is happening and those we were not sure of are on the ball.
Trust is always a problem. Thanks for the article.
I’ve often had the same thoughts about Donald Trump but the only conclusion that I can come to is this. Even if Trump was a complete scumbag, I’d still like him better than Biden, Harris, Clintons or any of the other Lefties and Democrats.
It’s a bit like hearing those tumbles of thunder in the distance. You count the seconds between the rumble and the lightening flash you try and gauge how long before the storm is dead overhead.
We are hearing those rumbles now. But the sight of all those people protesting in different cities including our own London gives hope that whilst the storm may well hit, it will not crush us!
There will be a struggle and a fight back I am sure. I just pray it will be soon and over quickly!
Frederica, a bit like you, flyer has been warning us of what? Revolution? At the moment I’m feeling it has to come or we will be crushed into slavery for ever more. So let’s get it over with.
Frederica and PB ; I hear it will start in USA. For one thing Trump supporters quite rightly, will not tolerate the fraudulent election result (now proven), plus mayhem for other reasons; people divided by propaganda against each other, power outages and possible cyber attack, race riots resulting in conflict through want, , the lot. I also hear it will spread here, fuelled by the invasion and collapse engineered by our own traitorous Government. TPTB will of course find a bolthole , a bunker in NZ or a yacht, till its all over.
About the short skirts, I had read it to mean the sailors were so drunk they had somehow ended up in the womens’ low cut blouses and skirts…..
mary – oh well that’s what happens when you write things in a hurry. I can assure you that we didn’t end up in the girls clothes.
As for the US, I don’t think that many people realise the full extent of what happened there, it was more than just a fraudulent election. There was foreign involvement, mainly China but others too and it seems that Biden and the Democrats are just puppets of China, this makes what happened a coup by foreign powers.
We should be worried because if the US falls to these Communists or globalists, then the entire Western world will fall shortly after.
I don’t think that it is regaining the presidency that is the problem for Trump, it is how to do it without starting World War Three but I suspect that it has already started.
As a Retired Merchant Naval Officer I have seen and support you Flyer In every word written, I sometime sit a wonder if the younger generations will fight or sink !
There is really only one chance
“The ladies of the night had found us dressed in their ridiculously short skirts and low cut blouses,”
Now that I’d pay to see. You must have looked very strange… sorry, sorry, couldn’t resist.
You’re right about things turning nasty. The EU is actively encouraging the return of the Irish Troubles. How sensible is that?

I wonder how many who firmly agree with the musings of Flyer meakly pay the BBC Licence which sustains and promote that which they profess to despise?
Jake. There is an upside to the cancel culture. We have cancelled our BBC licence. When asked why by the admin chap I said Jimmy Savile and Martin Bashir, for starters. He went very quiet. I could have continued with Gary Lineker’s salary and so on but he clearly had enough for his questionnaire.
Guilty as charged but we have an excuse. We’re working through a the episodes of Not going out and then we’re off.
Reasons? Too much agenda – climate change for example – not enough rigorous reporting – renewable energy, – Drax not investigated – lovely clean natural gas portrayed as the breath of Satan etc.
JF
Jake, I am one of those who still fork out the BBC fraud payment as I watch very little tv trash, but I do occasionally , so it would be stupid to spend money on other technology.
Mike Think you are missing the point – I didn’t say anything about not watching TV. I was talking about paying the licence fee.
