Are you sitting comfortably? Then I shall begin, with the parable of the lonely ewe and our society. A parable is “a short, simple story that teaches or explains an idea, especially a moral or religious idea”. The ‘story of the loneliest ewe’ provides us with the material for such a parable.
There was a ewe in Scotland which was lonely because she was stranded at the bottom of a cliff. She was discovered by an intrepid female kayaker – in 2021, who informed the ‘authorities’ whose “experts’ said it was far too dangerous to retrieve the ewe. This lady was aghast when she saw the same ewe in the same location – two years later.
And so, two years on, a ‘campaign’ was started, with petitions to the Scottish version of the RSPCA. There was even a gofundme page set up to fund the rental of some hovercraft. Now this made it even into the national press now since there were photos of said ewe. And so, for the weekend, there was a report in the DT:
“Britain’s loneliest sheep has been rescued from a remote shore in the Scottish Highlands where it had been stranded for two years. The ewe, now named Fiona, had been marooned at the foot of some cliffs on the Cromarty Firth. An animal welfare charity had previously said any attempts to rescue her would be “incredibly complex”. However, a group of five men managed to haul her up a steep slope and said she remained in excellent health. They plan to shear her overgrown fleece before handing her over to a farm park. The rescue mission was organised by Cammy Wilson, a sheep shearer from Ayrshire, after seeing media coverage of the ewe’s plight.” (paywalled link)
Let that sink in: ‘experts’ said rescuing yon ewe was ‘too dangerous’ – and then five white men, ‘led by an actual sheep farmer and old’ only in the eyes of Gen Z, but definitely white, simply went and got the ewe, dangerous or not. They certainly knew what they were doing. Remarkably, there was even a piece in The Times, where we find this ‘confession’:
“All week, while the rest of us had been signing petitions and praying for hoverboats, a team of people with a special set of skills had been discussing a rescue via the cliffs. Leading the team was Wilson, a former police officer turned sheep farmer based in Ayrshire. “We needed people who were not only expert at handling sheep but also able to get down the cliffs and up again safely using all the right equipment,” the farmer explained.” (link, paywalled)
And so: is all now well ? You, as well as the readers of the Sunday papers, might certainly think so. However, yesterday evening the DT reported:
“Britain’s loneliest sheep ‘in hiding’ after animal rights protest in rehoming row – Animal rights campaigners have raised concern over plans to transport her almost 300 miles to a petting zoo in Dumfries” (paywalled link)
There are some nice photos in yon report, of the shorn ewe and of those ‘protesters’ who seem to think that the poor ewe would do better in some sanctuary in Glasgow. Funny how said protesters didn’t utter one squeal while that ewe was stranded for two years.
But never mind that – the far more important message here is the one touched upon by the Times reporter, that “we” are happy to accept decisions by experts while also emailing petitions, perhaps even some money, when called upon. Moreover, too many of these emailing, petition-signing people have initially accepted the verdict of ‘experts’ about the impossibilities of ‘doing something’.
This is the mindset of the ‘middle classes’, the Audi Avenue dwellers. This should concern us because it is this mindset which polls generally document as ‘public opinion’ on which all politicians base their own attitudes. It’s the mindset we’ve been so thoroughly indoctrinated in during the covid years: “experts” know best and we better do as they say.
Why this is so dangerous for our society is aptly demonstrated by Matt Goodwin in his analysis of a poll regarding the planned ‘pro palestine’ march in London on Remembrance Sunday, writing:
“Only one in five British people think a planned ‘Million March for Palestine’ in London during Remembrance Day weekend should go ahead. That’s the finding from a new, nationally representative poll of more than 1,600 British adults, undertaken by my firm People Polling on behalf of GB News.” (paywalled link)
If that doesn’t already send shivers down your spine, then watch this video from Paul Joseph Watson, on the ‘protests’ which have already taken place where he highlights the attitude of the police.
And so we arrive at the lesson of the parable of the loneliest ewe: our ‘experts’ prefer doing nothing when it looks ‘dangerous’, for fear of producing ‘bad photos’ or ‘bad reports’ while we accept the verdict of said experts, despite the proof that they are ‘experts’ only because we accept their own say-so. Furthermore, when some actual people do something, there will always be a group of ‘activists’ moaning, screaming, holding placards, getting into the national news, but equally supine when it comes to doing something practical.
That’s all I have for today. I leave it to you to think about one more lesson from this parable, the one about the five white men and ‘the experts’. Have a good day.
Lord Biscotte….I’ve never been into the House of Lords, so you are right you didn’t see me in there, and I would certainly not go in there by choice. However, I have been into the House of Commons though, but not as an MP. And you’re right I haven’t picked up any litter in that inner city dual carriageway you mentioned. I do this in the west Kent countryside as a Countryside Ranger twice a week. And 17 bins, what are you talking about? We have a black wheelie bin for general waste, a green wheelie bin for plastics and tins, and a brown wheelie bin for garden waste, oh, and a green box to place paper and cardboard. So there you have it, which is pretty much the same everywhere (I think).
Certainly the same here Colin.
So clueless Sunak has put Law and Order at the centre of his agenda for the coming year prior to an general election….Don’t make me laugh, he doesn’t know what time of day it is whether it be Law and Order, the Economy, true Independence from the European Union or Immigration and securing our porous borders. The man is an utter plum of the first order, and his plan is to suspend all prison terms less then 12 months. Being tough eh on the causes of crime, its an absolute joke, and more like a thieves charter…….
And/or Misuse of public funds and taxation and (Theft ). And Influence peddling. The ONS must be clean.
It would be nice if the BBC was.
Armistice protests. Why are we even discussing this?
Tell them to imagine they are fire fighting through the Blitz for their freedom. Then, put the flamethrowers on them to make it more realistic.
This will allow these dregs of the World, wrongly allowed to live here, to better understand. Understand our culture, understand our traditions, to understand what this once British country stood for, and to understand its fight for freedom, for years and years before they racked up here with their hands out.
I am definitely with you Biscotte.
“dregs of the World” indeed. Why, if needed, they were not allowed in on annual work permits and time-limited visas is beyond me. Other countries I have worked in do it so why not here?
The only conclusion I can reach is a deliberate attempt to trash our country.
One here you’re gonna love Viv!

Harry Again…………says Nadine Dorries, and who believes her. Like Boris Johnson she is a waste of space for throwing her teddies out of the pram because Johnson did not elevate her to the House of Lords. Apart from sort of getting us out of the European Union in 2020 he delivered bugger all and totally wasted that 80 seat majority he had in the House of Commons. He is a thoroughly discredited individual who should not darken the corridors of power ever again. She should have shown a bit more loyalty to those who elected her in mid Bedfordshire and then resigned at the next general election, but as it is through her own sheer stupidity and selfishness she has handed her old constituency to Starmer and his utterly useless party. The Conservatives are finished as an electoral power house and will be lucky to get much over 100 MP’s at the next GE. Labour will finish off the job that the Conservatives started by shafting this once great country good and proper. No wonder there are some many Conservatives clamouring for Nigel Farage to rejoin their party and perhaps take over the reigns of leadership. However, to do that he will need to be elected to the House of Commons as an MP. Will it happen? Personally I am not that convinced he will, but he says one thing and then another. We need a brand new party of the right that’s for sure as the Conservative Party has had its day and will follow the old Liberal Party into obscurity, hopefully……….
“said (ewe) remained in excellent health.”
I wonder did it occur to any of the ‘experts’ and rescuers that said ‘Fiona’ (the loner) was in fact quite happy living in isolation?
She may have had some insight to what her fate would have been if she climed out on the route dhe took to get to err ‘Safety’.
Last para: One smart sheep that, with more intelligence than a lot of humans!
Great parabole. It reminds me of something I heard before the (clearly rigged) last A-Merican election.
If President Trump helped to invent a cure for cancer, there will always be someone to say he is putting surgeons out of work. (He is not an expert and should not be allowed).
Two years on a beach OK. 300 mile motor transfer might kill the poor thing. It is not as though the scheepije has to walk there!
Life has moved on from computer says no, to today. Elfin Safety says no to everything and anything. Aaarrrg, a paper clip. Ok ‘team’ – main conference room right now to discuss this dangerous trip hazard, for two hours.
We need more “five white men” in this world although I don’t know what the significance of their colour is. I suspect it’s the newspapers’ way of implying something that isn’t there.
Thinking of experts, I remember them giving advice on mask wearing..

Lest we forget.
A young girl in a particularly obscene looking black muzzle, making her look like Hannibal Lecter.
Experts on everything but master of none, springs to mind, A population so risk adverse they sit back and do nothing. A previous generation had a name for people like that, not one that is heard much these days presumably because it would be ‘hurty’ .
Norman………..and too many people who are professional protesters and do bugger all else. It reminds me of a walking holiday I took where this chap who boasted that he was a Green Party PPS and made a point of sitting at the dinner table every evening reading a book on litter and waste. I told him that I went out for two days every week to pick up litter in the countryside and asked him whether he did likewise. Oh no he said ‘my job is to educate people and give talks. The moral of the story there is always going to be the ‘talkers’ and the ‘doers’…….
CH- So you live in the country Colin. Advice, put your waste stuff in the 17 bins provided at your cost by the council taxes. Then you wont have to pick litter up twice a week.
Lord Biscotte old chap, its not my waste or litter I am picking up. If I am out I put my rubbish in either my rucksack or coat pockets and then dispose of it at home. The litter I am picking up is dropped by people walking through the countryside who cant be bothered to take their plastic water bottles home with them, and cyclists who toss their cans of Monster Energy into the hedgerow when they have finished drinking that disgusting sugary substance, and of course motorists having eaten their takeaways throw the packaging, cartons, cups and plastic knives and forks out of the window with baby nappies that their children have either peed in or worse. And not forgetting, the wannabe druggies who drop their laughing gas (nitrous oxide) steel canisters anywhere and everywhere along with their cigarette stubs and the odd hypodermic needle for good measure. Education only goes so far and the local authorities haven’t picked up rubbish along country roads for years now. The sad fact of the matter is that a substantial minority of the population have no civic pride, have no respect and want to treat our precious countryside as their own personal municipal tip. As an aside, I hope you kept your gob shut in the House of Lords today whilst the King announced this governments latest round of pledges that will not be abided by or adhered to. Or did you assist Black Rod knocking on that big wooden door to let those utter wasters in from the Commons?
Col. Aitch – Suggest you put the gardeners on the job ole fruit. Nothing much going on for them at this time of year. And check the 17 bins for correct disposal.
A few weeks back, I suffered the indignity of walking (yes walking) along a inner city dual carriageway pavement. Never seen so many nave plates (hub caps) ever before. And there was all the litter you missed – absolutely coated with litter as you describe above. It occurred to me this would be a useful job for immigrants with nothing to do except moan about their unsuitable hotel accommodation and our ‘meagre’ handouts to them.
The Lords – Need to get the furry togs out now and again. Me, comment? Snooze in the warm more like! Didn’t see you there Colin.
Elsewhere, I have seen Summer parties organised by major coys. They consist of the coy family groups turning up on say a Saturday morning – given black bags and ‘pickers’. Each time this happens, those attending collect six plus tons of litter, junk whatever from around the place where they work. Oh, and in the afternoon everyone goes off to a yooge barbeque with jelly, ice cream and ginger beer.
