Have I got ‘news’ of another example of blatant hypocrisy for you! No, not about the ongoing Laurence Fox ‘saga’, nor about the wails of metropolitan MSM editors about the dastardly Tories daring to ‘gamble on the motorists’ votes’, as iNews screams on their print edition’s front page while some Red Tops think it’s a good idea. It is about the hypocrisy of the Westminster ‘elites’ who have been preaching to us peasants that we now live in a secular society, that churches and priests have no say about how we live our lives. The one exception is when bishops and archbishops preach full, industrial-strength wokery. These are occasions when the Westminster MSM tell us to do as yon bishops say.
Even so, I was puzzled and wondered why the DT saw fit to dedicate a whole ‘top story’ to the Archbish Welby’s issue with Ms Braverman. For your entertainment, here are the headlines:

Welby has always been against the Rwanda plan and, according to ‘sources’, has been ‘rebuffed’ (my emphasis):
“The Most Rev Justin Welby has “reached out” to the Home Secretary to discuss the Government’s policy on asylum seekers, but Mrs Braverman has so far failed to agree to any discussions in an apparent snub. Mrs Braverman’s approach to immigration has created tensions with the Archbishop, who has branded plans to deport migrants to Rwanda “against the judgment of God”. (paywalled link)
How does Welby know that ‘God judges’ this Rwanda plan? Which ‘God is this anyway? The one who allowed Welby to close the doors of all churches during the lockdowns? Also, I cannot recall that Rwanda is mentioned anywhere in the Bible, but then, I’m not an Archbish. However, the DT kindly provides us with the clue for why this story has suddenly seen the light of day:
“The row threatens to plunge the Tories into a war of words with the Church ahead of the Conservative Party conference which starts in Manchester on Sunday.” (paywalled link)
Ah! So it’s not so much about Welby calling down the wrath of God but about rhetorically attacking the Sunak government! The following quote shows that the good old Archbish has had friendly helpers in the mostly WFH Whitehall corridors who told the DT about yon Archbish having tried to speak to Ms Braverman. Speaking to the Minister for Immigration wasn’t sufficient, it seems. Those ‘sources’ also managed to get their moans about another Braverman issue into the DT:
“Speaking to The Telegraph, a senior Government source accused the Home Secretary of “stoking” the ECHR issue behind the scenes with a group of Right-wing MPs, sparking tensions No 10. […] The government source said: “Suella is stoking the ECHR issue behind the scenes at every opportunity. She’s running a shadow campaign with a tiny group of Right-wing MPs. It’s causing real tension and undermining our Supreme Court Case. She’s probably hoping we lose in the courts. That way she can blame the ECHR and those of us who know how difficult and damaging it would be to leave. No 10 knows exactly what she’s up to and isn’t happy.” (paywalled link)
Oh dear: dastardly ‘right-wing’ Tory plotters, making ‘No 10’ unhappy? How awful! The archbishop would soon show her the errors of her way, innit, with fire and brimstone … I do wonder though where the CofE is housing yon poor migrants and where their fabulous programmes are to help them once they’re here. Surely they’d tell us if there were any!
Moreover, does anyone still have to ask why our immigration policies are so ineffectual? It’s another nice example for the way Whitehall torpedoes Tory policies. But there’s more – at least the DT did report this:

So answer me this: how come that we’re told that being a secular society where ‘Teh Church’ no longer tells us how to behave is ‘an excellent thing’ while the same Church, hand-in-hand with the Westminster MSM, pushes their wokery onto us, preaching ‘the wrath of God’? Will we now see Labour, atheist as a matter of course, side with ‘Teh Church’? And where, in the name of diversity, are reports of chief imams and chief rabbis telling off Ms Braverman?
That’s all I have for today. I’m sure there’s something in the Bible about the fate of shepherds who’ve either sold their flocks for profit or left them to perish, and about the sin of hypocrisy. Have a good weekend.

Indeed he does but, of course, will not so just has to be ignored or criticised whenever the opportunity arises.
Sunak is a practicing Hindu and Braverman is a Buddist. I doubt they feel the need for ‘guidance’ from Welby as Braverman’s ignoring of him indicates. His career of political meddler, in his no doubt desperate attempt to be relevant, has run its course. The King, as head of the CofE, should tell him to wind his neck in.
Last night was the Together organisation’s 2nd anniversary bash held in the Methodist’s Central Hall opposite Westminster Abbey. Mrs Stout dragged me along as assorted friends in her various WhatsApp groups were going. Initially reluctant I warmed to the idea of going on discovering there would be two bars inside and so opportunities for time out should the speeches bore or irritate. In any case, it would be a trip down memory lane as Central Hall was the venue of many a rally during the referendum and the years of the rotten parliament 2017 to 2019. One of those events had been when Tice, now of Reform UK, headed Leave Means Leave and held an event in Central Hall. Mrs Stout spotted him last night searching for a seat, but I doubt he was there out of nostalgia. More likely he came in search of policy tips, being the follower he is rather than leader.
Together began as an anti-mask, anti-lockdown, anti-vaccine mandate protest group but has grown nationally as anti-ULEZ and anti-LTNs having led or been involved in successful local campaigns up and down the country. It’s latest policy is ‘No to Net Zero’.
The two founders had their moment in the sun with (in my view) redundantly repetitive speeches. One of them is Dr Renee Hoenderkamp, a GP, who was dressed as though for the red carpet in Hollywood. At least she made an effort. The evening’s compère then appeared – Julie Harley-Brewer. She must have been nervous before such a large audience (some 1700 to 1900 people) in a vast hall very different from her normal, cosy studio, because she spoke too quickly to be intelligible half the time. She sounded more like a giggly, nervous school girl.
The first serious speaker was Matthew Goodwin. Nothing new for those of us who follow him, but a clear, articulate speaker and a pleasure to listen to. Next was Laura Dodworth (author of the very good ‘A State of Fear’ and not quite so good ‘How to Free Your Mind’). She was in a bright pink sort of jump suit – I’ve seen her more soberly dressed at UnHerd events – that said notice me. She should stick to writing as she’s not a particularly good public speaker.
Dr Jay Bhattacharya (of Great Barrington Declaration fame) joined via a live link from Stanford in California and told of his experience of being censored and gave an update on the federal court case that ordered social media companies to stop censorship at White House request (as happened during covid) which is now going before the Supreme Court. He was followed by Prof Carl Heneghan, Professor of Evidence-Based Medicine at Oxford, who told of his own experiences of censorship and then compared excess death rates in Sweden, Florida and the UK and finishing with “and so it turns out civil liberties are good for your health!”.
The final speaker was Sherelle Jacobs (wearing sandals and a very distracting hair do) who should definitely stick to writing in the DT. Absolutely hopeless public speaker. Garbled to the point of unintelligible.
Overall, an enjoyable evening – the size of the event rekindling hope – marred only by early closure of the bars (as I discovered while trying to escape Sherelle) and interesting for how such an event packed Central Hall on a Friday night. Most intriguingly it was a nearly all white event. I hope opposition to restrictions on liberty and net zero insanity is not just white man’s politics.

Welby makes me sick, he looks like a pervert. Have a look at the first few minutes of this Neil McCoy-Ward video, although an interesting video in its own right, the first few minutes has some shocking footage of the looting taking place in Oxford street and other places in Europe, particularly Paris. Look at the faces, the vast majority of the are one particular colour. That little vermin Welby needs to mind his own business.

Bishops are members of the House of Lords and have therefore always been political. (There’s no denying that Welby is an idiot, first class).
The Rwanda plan is ridiculous.
(1) Rwanda is allowed to send people to us in return.
(2) It’s using a teaspoon to empty an ocean. We have tens of thousands of illegals here. Sending a few hundred to Rwanda is a drop in a bucket. Illegals coming here will know there’s little chance of them being sent to Rwanda.
