“Vote Labour to get moar bird shredders”

It seems that the Silly Season starts earlier every year, as a quick scan of both the print front pages and the online editions of our glorious MSM demonstrates. One might have thought that yesterday’s vote in the HoC, on the ‘Partygate Report’ of the Privileges Committee, would have been of national interest – but no. “We” have to be anxious about the fate of a billionaire.  Only the grauniad’s and the Mirror’s leading article is on the HoC vote – scroll down here: “Newspaper headlines: Hunt for Titanic sub and mortgage rates rise” (link).

Oh – ‘that’ vote? It was 354 to 7 for yon report. Phew. The one political news item which really concerns us all however has been relegated to the wilderness. This is about Cur Keir’s ‘vision’ for the future. The DT has buried their report somewhere in their ‘Politics’ section, under a headline which ought to’ve made it to the top:

“Starmer vows to override residents’ objections to onshore wind farms – Labour leader says ministers will be able to use ‘mechanism’ to stop objections and pledges to ‘back builders, not blockers’” (paywalled link)

That’s a nice slogan: “back builders not blockers”! Anyone living under a Labour-controlled local council knows that this is what Labour has been doing for a long time. They’ve turned a blind eye to the hacking down of trees, ‘backing builders’, not blockers, so that more ‘housing’ – not even social housing but ‘town houses’ for the affluent –  can be built.  Why then would they change their successful policies of riding roughshod over people’s objections when they can shine with imposing Green Crap on the whole country!

Delving into the report in The Times, usually such staunch supporter of Starmer, we find some interesting snippets. Firstly, there’s the blatant bribe stated in the report’s subtitle: “Opposition leader says push for renewables would bring down energy bills by £1,400” (link, paywalled). Who wouldn’t want to see their current home energy bills drop by that amount!

This is beautiful ‘jam tomorrow’ country. Not only is there no evidence of how this sum is calculated,  these things, desecrating our landscapes, also need to be built before “we” can reap this reward. Of course, there are also no calculations about how much this would cost the nation’s tax payers.

We can however be certain that this bribe, this sum, will feature prominently in Labour’s campaign because it is so useful for bashing Tories for letting the building of yon ‘farms’ stagnate. See how Starmer argued that this is why “[…] bills were higher than they should be, promising that his drive for renewable power would bring bills down by £1,400.” (link, paywalled)

Never mind the gas shortages on the world markets, not least thanks to sanctions, never mind closing down coal fired power stations “because: CO2”, never mind dragging out the building of new nuclear power stations “because: green!” – “we” suffer those high energy prices only because there weren’t enough onshore wind farms.

Finally, we get to see who has had his fingers in this particular pie, nicely ‘supported’ by findings of his own Think Tank (all emphases are mine):

Sir Tony Blair has said that Starmer needs to face down the nimbys and strip local residents of the right to object to new wind farms and pylons to meet clean energy goals. The former prime minister’s think tank said that Britain was decades behind Labour’s target of a clean power grid by 2030, and that the planning system must be ripped up to force through a doubling of grid capacity and a tripling of renewable generation.” (link, paywalled)

If only we had kept Labour in  No 10, we’d already be close to Green Nirvana! If anyone believes that ripping up the planning system, that stripping local residents of their right to object will only apply to the building of yon ‘wind farms’, they better think again – and think hard. This stripping and ripping up will apply to all sorts of other building issues.

Of course, the inevitable carrot is also presented. It’s not just that ‘jam tomorrow’ reduction of our energy bills, it’s the offer to “local communities [of] financial incentives to consent to development.” (link, paywalled). We all know where those bribes will come from: our taxes!

Am I the only one who, reading these phrases,  is reminded of the times of Five-Year-Plans, the ripping up of laws and stripping off of people’s rights which took place in a certain country, under a certain dictator whose name escapes me because, unlike that of his counterpart, he’s never mentioned?

You might like to read Richard Littlejohn’s scathign article in the DM (link). He points out that another Labour Green grandee was involved: a certain Ed M., proud instigator of the ‘green surcharge’ burdening our energy bills.

I leave you with news of Mr Laurence Fox. He proudly made a private stand or stunt against the LGBetc crowd:

“Police are ‘assessing’ video of Laurence Fox burning ‘LGBTQ+’ bunting in his garden while actor says he ‘hopes officers pay me a visit’ following Father’s Day stunt” (link)

Yay! What ‘crime against humanity’, what brave stunt/stand:  burning a few pieces of bunting in his garden! I’m sure that, at the very least , he’ll be fined for polluting the environment, a far more heinous crime than destroying our landscapes for green crap.

There’s a tiny glimmer of hope: by the time the GE comes around, the economic situation in Germany will have become so catastrophic thanks to their Green Policies that, Blair and Ed M. notwithstanding, Cur Starmer will have to shelve his grandiose ‘green’ plans if he wants to get into No 10.

That’s all I have for today. When will the Uniparty and their Westminster mouthpieces notice that their green crap is doing more to destroy the environment, here and across the planet,  than using fossil fuels? Have a good day.
