You want Summer Holidays? Make everybody get a jab!

It’s a marvel: Lockdown sceptics are prophets! Didn’t we say that the mass vaccination drive would lead to the introduction of vaccine passports, only for ministers and the Lockdown MSM to pooh-pooh our warning? And lo and behold – vaccine passports are coming. Then there’s the door-to-door mass testing. While we’ve not yet heard if this exercise was successful in finding who all harboured those terrifying covid mutants, it must have been very successful for the covid emperors because, lo and behold, we now find that government is planning a door-to-door exercise to ‘persuade’ what they’ve labelled ‘vaccine refuseniks’ to change the error of their ways. More on all that below.

Firstly though, let’s look at that other ‘marvel’, that ‘lockdown exit strategy’. The wonderful thing about that is that it’s tailor-made to appease the denizens of Audi Avenue: schools opening, outdoor exercise and sports to be permitted for groups, meetings permitted outdoors, ‘al-fresco’ meals in restaurants to be permitted – even outdoor markets to be allowed to resume. These are the ‘goodies’ being dangled in front of our eyes, devised to make BJ look good because he’ll allow us to get back to some semblance of ‘normal:

“Boris Johnson’s plans for a release from lockdown in the spring will prioritise open-air contact and set out dates for the opening of retail and then hospitality after pupils return to classrooms. Outdoor activity is likely to be permitted first in each phase. Team and individual sports such as golf and tennis, along with limited social gatherings outside, would therefore be possible within weeks of a planned return of schools from March 8.” (link, paywalled)

Before you start rejoicing – note that BJ is still keen on keeping schools closed, However, there are some SAGEs who are dancing out of line, just a bit:

“Paul Hunter, professor of medicine at the University of East Anglia, suggested some primary school years could even go back before the March 8 date proposed by the prime minister. “Case numbers have dropped far more rapidly than I was expecting with this new variant. That’s what’s driving my optimism,” he said, predicting that a gradual reopening could mean social gatherings by the end of March with pubs and restaurants opening shortly after.” (link, paywalled)

So these covid mutants are suddenly not as scary as we were told earlier this year? Who knew! What’s more, there are SAGEs who – in a perfectly ‘personal capacity’ only, you understand – are keen to see schools going back to ‘normal’. One wonders if they and all those other civil serpents who are nicely WFH have had enough of looking after and schooling their kids. After all, even when they have a back garden, this time of year kicking their kids out is a bit cruel, what with the cold and wet weather.

Now even some Tory MPs seem to think enough is enough as “increasing numbers of Tory MPs have publicly called for schools to be opened before March 8th” (paywalled link). They’ve perhaps picked up a statement like this one:

“Professor Andrew Hayward, a UCL scientist and member of SAGE. said yesterday that while the present situation was still “serious”, a turning point could come when all those over 50 were vaccinated — most likely at some point in the spring.” (link, paywalled)

Well, BJ is clearly not – yet – thinking of opening schools before 8th March, never mind his MPs grumbling. Given that this ‘exit plan’ aims for permitting all those outdoor activities’ only ‘within weeks’ of school openings, this brings us elegantly to Easter at the beginning of April. Decisions haven’t been made:

“Government sources said that the plans were “tentative”, and that only the date for the earliest return of pupils had been agreed. […] A new set of indicators to be used to judge whether England can move to the next stage of the release is being prepared. Johnson has said that he does not want a return to regional tiers.” (link, paywalled)

Gawd, aren’t the mandarins busy! I’m sure they’ll follow the SAGEs who “believe that any reopening needs to be very gradual” (link, paywalled), even though Rishi’s remarks criticising the SAGE strategy of goal-post shifting seems to have rung some bells:

“The Telegraph has found that at least four other Cabinet ministers share his view, with one source saying: “Several Cabinet ministers are worried about the scientists trying to push back on the promises the PM has already made. How can anyone plan if once a target is met, another one is suddenly set?” One member of the Cabinet said: “There are Cabinet ministers who agree with him.” (paywalled link)

Yeah, well – good that they’ve noticed! We’ve said so for months. Mind though, they’re not doing anything about it because they seem to believe that it’s right and proper that ‘all must have jabs’ first. Surely you couldn’t have failed to notice that these ‘sunny uplands’, these ‘jam tomorrow’ promises all depend on more people being vaccinated, now including the over 50s. This is where the horrific proposal by the vaccine tsar Nadhim Zahawi comes in. He told MPs yesterday that:

“People who have not accepted vaccination offers could get knocks on the door from council staff in an attempt to convince sceptics “home by home”. He told MPs that he wanted to use councils to seek out those who had refused offers and see what might convince them, after local authorities successfully deployed door-to-door contact tracers to find people whom national services struggled to reach.” (link, paywalled)

See how this works? Nobody complained about door-to-door testing, so why would anybody complain about local council employees – these aren’t medics, I don’t think! – to ‘persuade’ those horrid vaccine refuseniks to go and get their jab? It’s also pure coincidence that these door-to-door jab-canvassers are approaching the elderly who generally seem to be more credulous and submissive when someone ‘in authority’ tells them to obey.

After all, surely even a hard-core vaccine refusenik can be made to toe the line so that kids can go back to school and people can plan their summer holidays, armed with that vaccine passport! Surely they’ll understand the plight of those poor people inside the M25, forced to WFH, deprived of summer holidays or short get-aways to sunny foreign shores – and will gladly change their refusenik minds!

And so to those ‘vaccine passports’. It’s not just “us” who want them if this means “we” can have a summer holiday. There are countries who are or might demand such passport. And lo and behold – this is what our WFH Whitehall mandarins have been working on:

“British officials have started work on a “vaccine passport” as Greece prepares to waive quarantine rules for tourists who can prove that they have been inoculated against coronavirus. A certification system is being planned, The Times has learnt. The Foreign Office, Department for Transport and Department of Health and Social Care are working on options for travellers to countries that may demand it as a condition of entry.” (link, paywalled)

I had to rub my eyes and double-check that I was reading what correctly when I saw the reason for this sudden activity:

“British tourists may be welcomed to Greece in May provided they can provide proof of inoculation against the coronavirus, tourism officials said. Government officials have told the Greek Ministry of Tourism that Britain’s vaccination process is so advanced that British holidaymakers will save their lucrative summer season. About two million Britons visit Greece every year, second only to the Germans, spending more than €10 billion.” (link, paywalled)

Let’s turn this around: in order to allow a certain segment of the population – yes, ‘tis the WFH crowd – to enjoy a holiday while feeling good about saving the Greek tourism industry, local employees must go door-to-door and persuade vaccine refuseniks over 70 to get that jab and never mind that refusing such jabs is legal and comes under ‘human rights’.

Refuseniks cannot be allowed to refuse their jab because that would throw into disarray the government’s plans to get the over 50s jabbed, starting from mid-February, and the lovely exit strategy of getting people out again, within limits and very carefully, after schools open from March onwards. Any bets that there’ll soon be an app to show that one’s been jabbed, perhaps with a sweet little lapel button for those who don’t own a smartphone? Is this how our civil freedoms are meant to be restored to us by this covid government?

I leave you with news that it’s no longer ‘politics by tweets’, faithfully copied into ‘political articles’ in ‘Our MSM’. It’s now going to be ‘politics by influencers’. Influencers are, as many will know, those beautiful people who swan around the world, covid or not, promoting themselves and some products on Instagram. They have, to no-one’s surprise, huge hordes of followers. So now see this:

“Labour has urged its MPs and staff to cultivate relationships with social media influencers and celebrities in a bid to spread Sir Keir Starmer’s message in advance of local elections in May. […] Labour officials wrote to parliamentary offices yesterday to push the importance of endorsements from celebrities […]. “If politicians have a good relationship with celebrities, influencers, potential endorsers with large social media following […] we would really appreciate your help in cultivating and maintaining these relationships so that we can make an ask through you for our key campaigns,” they said.” (link, paywalled)

Yes, that’s right: luvvies endorsing Labour aren’t sufficient – Labour now needs vapid Influeners and even more celebrities to spread the Kneeler’s message. This is another step towards the lemmification of the Nation.

Why not simply hand the HoC over to influencers? It’s run by Zoom already anyway, so who needs MPs when someone sitting at a swimming pool in Dubai can tell their followers what to do! Again, and as so often nowadays: words simply fail me!

KBO!
