After shedding his tears, he’s happy …

Some dreadful people have reappeared in the MSM – and I don’t mean the Taliban. One is weeping crocodile tears amidst proposals on how to go forth now that the Taliban is in power. This is none other than Sir Mark Sedwill. His article will be given our “From Behind the Paywall” treatment because it is significant. Apologies if you’re now feeling a bit sick – it has to be done. The other are the feminist MSM writers who have suddenly discovered their hearts for Afghan women, accusing us for callously leaving them to their fate. Don’t ask about their decades-long disregard for the situation of women in all other islamic states and here at home in our ‘diverse communities’!

There are many articles in the MSM about how Afghan women are now scared  being raped by Taliban soldiers. There’s even a breast-beating opinion piece in the DT telling us that, yes, this is ‘our fault’ for ‘abandoning them. Words failed me utterly though when I saw a report about how “we” recruited and trained female Afghan soldiers. Firstly, read this astonishing bit of re-writing history:

“Back then, regime change was made more palatable by talking up the rights of women. In 2001, Cherie Blair spoke of a new transitional administration giving back a voice to Afghan women. A week earlier, Laura Bush had been on the radio speaking of the Taliban’s disregard for women’s rights. Wasn’t that nice? The wives of the Western leaders caring about the lives of Afghan women?” (paywalled link)

“We”, went into Afghanistan to ‘help Afghan women’? Who knew! Did Cherie browbeat her hubby to do this ‘for the wimmin’? At least, the finger is nicely pointed at the two leaders who did get us into Afghanistan in 2001. I’m sure our soldiers who fought and died in the years up to 2014 are glad to know they actually ‘did it for the women’! Perhaps our current feminist crop might now re-think their campaign ‘against the white patriarchy.

There’s more. We know the aim was to establish a western-style, democracy and that the Allies trained and equipped the Afghan soldiers – those who now downed their weapons, weapons which are now in the hands of the Taliban, making them the best equipped armed forces in the region, with German reporters pointing out that the Taliban now has more airworthy helicopters than the German Army.

However, I was totally unaware of that, in the name of ‘gender equality’, “we” recruited and trained Afghan women to fight in that Army. The DT, under the headline “’I’m scared I’ll be raped and killed’: Afghanistan’s female soldiers fear for their lives”, writes that there was:

“a massive recruitment drive of women launched in 2010 by the Afghan Government with Nato’s backing in a bid to create a modern army acceptable on an international level. […] The original ambitious aim was to make the military 10 per cent female by 2020. But when The Afghan Army National Officer Academy – known more colloquially as ‘Sandhurst in the Sand’ – opened its doors to women in 2014, uptake was slow. Cultural taboos around women working alongside men and staying away from home overnight meant that they were often accused of prostitution.” (paywalled link)

Words fail me utterly! Not just because we never heard of this ‘drive’ but because even then our political and military leaders seem to have been singularly ignorant of islamic culture. Did they really believe that they could eradicate centuries of islamic tradition, that they were actually ‘helping’, by training female soldiers because they were needed, as the unfortunate female soldier explained to the DT:

“It is an Islamic country and we need female soldiers and police to conduct house and body searches. Men aren’t allowed to do that here,” (paywalled link)

What were these people thinking? Moreover, what were the feminists thinking who are now suddenly discovering their hearts for Afghan women? Did they think this was ‘a good thing’? Why didn’t they inform us about this ‘success’, in glowing words, during all those years? What the fluff were they thinking? Oh never mind – this is ‘our fault’, and for twisted arguments with a dash of tear-jerking you won’t find better than this:

“There are intellectual arguments about how the CIA armed the Mujahideen against the Russians, about how every intervention is an indictment of Western colonial power, but this? This leaving a population of women to be raped and massacred and imprisoned proves what exactly? That America is strong – or that America is scared of alienating former Trump voters?” (paywalled link)

Gawd – the Westminster ‘elite feminists’ cannot even now refrain from dragging in Trump as if he alone is responsible for this disaster, as if he even in 2010 forced the hands of our politicians and generals to create female Afghan soldiers! There’s more – have your hankies handy:

“For this, women will die, and those that live will have lives most of us would not recognise as living at all. This is a morally devastating act of abandonment. The Taliban treat women as less than human. To see the rest of the world do the same is beyond shameful. The refugees will be, as ever, mostly young men. The women and their dreams become but nameless shadows left behind.” (paywalled link)

Yes, well – women generally are treated as ‘less than human’ in islamic countries, it’s not just the Taliban. Amazing, isn’t it, how this is suddenly an issue for the MSM. Usually, all who did try to point this out, who did try to argue that the principle was the same, from ISIS and Taliban to the ‘diverse communities’ here in the UK, were and are labelled ‘islamophobic’ and told to keep their mouths shut.

It’s good to see though that the writer of that article acknowledges that mostly men, and mostly young men are fleeing the country. The unspeakable scenes from Kabul’s airport, broadcast around the world, are sufficient proof. So where are the feminists’ outcries about a culture where the men abandon their womenfolk to the enemy they themselves run away from?

Still, ‘our man in Kabul’, the British Ambassador who is staying behind, is doing his best to get out as many as possible, helped by 600 paratroopers (paywalled link). There’s huge concern to get out those who worked with our troops and rightly so. Meanwhile, BJ has said that women and children will be given priority (link) – how nice! The Times however couldn’t resist reporting a sob story:

“The daughter of a 79-year-old woman stranded in Kabul has said that her mother has been abandoned by the British embassy. Layloma Hafizi, a British citizen from Coventry, flew to Afghanistan last month to attend a funeral but was unable to get a flight home in the turmoil once the Taliban insurgency began. She went to the British embassy for help but was “dismissed” by employees, who did not even take down her details, according to her daughter, Fereba Hafizi, who claimed that the embassy was prioritising diplomatic officials and Britons working in Afghanistan.” (link, paywalled)

Oh dear! Let’s not ask why a 79-year-old lady flew to Afghanistan when that country was and still is on the ‘red list’ because: covid! Let’s not ask if perchance that embassy official was an Afghan with scant regard for females. Let’s instead be outraged that an old lady wasn’t given instant priority to be rescued from a dangerous situation into which she’d put herself.

The important point here is this: apparently even four or so weeks ago the Foreign Office travel advice for Afghanistan only warned about the dangers of covid, not about the dangers from the Taliban. However, I’ve learned from ‘a source’ – yes, I do have them as well, LOL! – that Japan’s FO warned all Japanese citizens not to go to Afghanistan and warned all Japanese citizens in Afghanistan to return home immediately.

That official Japanese warning was given  — on the 25th of June 2021! That’s scant two weeks after the G7 meeting. I wrote yesterday that I think the G7 leaders were aware of the Taliban’s inevitable success. Apparently Japan acted on this – our government clearly didn’t. Why not? Perhaps someone can ask Mr Raab to explain himself but don’t expect anything but waffle from BJ.

Meanwhile, the usual suspects shed crocodile tears and beat their breasts, already telling us whose fault this actually is: not Trump’s, but ours. Don’t expect an explanation for why we mustn’t mention islam while being blamed for the treatment and fate of women in Afghanistan but not here in the UK. Just weep already.

KBO!
