There’s nothing like examples of “one rule for them – one for us” to outrage us peasants, such as the infamous G7 ‘event’. The latest instance perpetrated by this covid government however truly takes the proverbial biscuit. Contrasting this with the way schoolchildren are being treated is sufficient to make even the most mild-mannered Brit howl with fury.

It’s scant consolation that some MPs are now demanding to scrap the daily horror show of ‘case numbers’. Not even the plan to scrap a ‘covid passport’ suffices – we know by now that the covid empire giveth with one hand and taketh away with the other at the drop of a hat or rather: at the rise of ‘cases’ in what is now best called the ‘casedemic’.

Let’s first look at the blatant hypocrisy regarding quarantine rules for travellers. The travelling plebs – shoulda stayed at home, innit! – will have to undergo a ten day quarantine when returning from covid-infested holiday countries. The last few weeks have shown that this government will declare any country as ‘red’ or ‘amber’ as soon as case numbers rise, never mind that days ago they’ve declared such countries ‘green’ and safe for travel.

Their latest ‘edict’ on this issue is scandalous. If you happen to be the CEO of a ‘big business’ company, these rules won’t apply even if you come from a ‘red’ country:

“Britain has reintroduced quarantine-free travel for senior executives to head off European efforts to win Covid recovery investment, prompting protests from small businesses who remain excluded from the scheme. The Department for Business has told executives jetting in for important meetings that they will no longer need to remain shut in a hotel for 10 days, after becoming alarmed by a post-Brexit charm offensive on top US banks from French president Emmanuel Macron. However, the rules will only apply to companies with hundreds of workers, meaning that smaller players will miss out.” (paywalled link)

You noticed the name ‘Macron’ in that quote, didn’t you. Yes, this is a BJ knee-jerk ‘rule change’ because France is trying to entice big banks to Paris, post-Brexit:

“There was consternation in Whitehall after JP Morgan boss Jamie Dimon met Mr Macron in Paris on Tuesday, but snubbed the UK because of its strict travel rules.” (paywalled link)

Macron is happy: JP Morgan has created a ‘trading hub’ in Paris after that meeting, to stick one up the City. In their zeal to ‘do a Macron’, BJ and his covid henchpeople however are now damaging smaller firms by giving this ‘covid freedom pass’ only to CEOs of industries employing more than 500 people. It’s really coming to something when The Times wades in with this observation:

“The decision prompted suggestions that the government was pursuing “one rule for the rich and another for the rest”. It follows controversy over a decision to exempt from quarantine an estimated 2,500 VIPs, Uefa officials, politicians and sponsors to allow them to attend the semi-finals and final of Euro 2020. (link, paywalled)

‘Tis painful, isn’t it, when even those who deem themselves to be VIPs must follow the rules like all us plebs! It’s good to see that even The Times recognises that there’s now one small class of overlords – G7 PMs, top Bankers, some top industrialists – and they themselves are excluded.

Those who’ve profited from the earlier exemption rules might perhaps find it in themselves to protest against the whole range of covid rules depriving all of us of freedom. Perhaps more covid lemmings might become furious now that Big Business is getting exemptions like the UEFA VIPs.

Ms Merkel is not going to give up her demand that the Euro Cup Final not be played at Wembley (link) – certainly not now that the English team beat the Germans 2 : 0, their first victory in an international cup tournament for 55 years! I’m sure she’ll become even more insistent when she learns that covid ministers will ‘shelve’ a covid passport for mass gatherings after they’ve gracefully return some of our freedoms on July 19th (link).

Compare and contrast this with the ongoing destruction of the education and indeed the childhood of our schoolchildren. Keep in mind that MPs are clamouring to drop the daily ‘casedemic stats’ while the DT’s science editor Ms Knapton reports that these ‘cases’ are due to more T&T, with no relation to hospitalisations and deaths (paywalled link). Also keep in mind that Whitty made vaguely reassuring noises, telling the covid cabinet that:

“[…] the increase in coronavirus cases was not leading to a sharp rise in people needing hospital treatment. [He] said that summer was the time to ease as many restrictions as possible, provided there was not a rise in Covid-19 patients in hospitals, and that winter would be harder because the virus spread more when people were indoors.” (link, paywalled)

These are points we lockdown sceptics have been making for over a year now. So why is it that our schoolchildren are the ones who have to bear the brunt of the insane quarantine ‘rulz’? The DT reports (my emphasis):

“On Tuesday it was revealed that a record 385,500 pupils are off school as a result of Covid – the vast majority of whom do not have the virus. Youngsters in the most disadvantaged parts of the country are almost twice as likely as peers in wealthier areas to be forced to self-isolate.” (paywalled link)

You might like to check out the article in Lockdown Sceptics (link) where various MPs are quoted, demanding an end to this madness. Well – the covid tsars are making suitable noises, saying they’ll think about ‘rule changes’ for the new school year in September. Amazing, isn’t it, how this covid cabal can ditch their ‘rules’ for VIPs and top CEOs, when it’s about footie or about trying to catch up with Macron – but are unwilling to let perfectly healthy kids go back to school because: “Rulz!”.

The weasel words of both the education minister and the new DHSC head honcho show that they are not precisely going to change this situation:

“Williamson said hours after the figures were published: “We know that the best place for children is in the classroom. That is why I am working with the health secretary, alongside scientists and public health experts, to relax Covid measures in schools in line with wider work to remove restrictions across society. I’ll be looking closely at the issues around the need for ongoing isolation of bubbles and the outcomes of the daily contact testing trial, as we consider a new model for keeping children in education.” Sajid Javid said in his first address to the Commons as health secretary: “The impact that [isolation] is having in terms of their education, mental health and in so many other detrimental ways is exactly why I’ve asked for fresh advice on this to see if there’s anything more we can do.” (link, paywalled)

Yes there is, Messrs Williamson and Javid: scrap these rules in the first place – now! After all, your own ‘case numbers’ have been shown to be a testing artefact because they don’t translate into hospitalisations and deaths.

So – why are so many schoolchildren ‘forced’ to self-isolate? Is it perhaps something to do with mass testing? Is it perhaps because the vaccine tsar and the covid emperors need ‘numbers’ to enforce the mass vaccination of our kids who don’t catch covid anyway? Perhaps it’s because all those lefty teachers and their unions have been craven ever since last year, demanding tests and ‘rulz’ to protect themselves because kids are such dangerous transmitters of covid – not!

And here they are again, getting their wails in first, before the event. They don’t moan because a proposal being floated is for kids to be tested daily in schools so the ‘bubble’ of kids won’t need to self-isolate should one of the test +ve (link). This is something which should be abhorrent to any parent, but the teachers unions don’t question this – oh no! Here’s why they are against it:

“Yesterday the Association of School and College Leaders said it would lead to ‘more educational disruption’. Geoff Barton, general secretary, said: ‘It is completely unacceptable for the DfE to tell schools and colleges without any consultation and in the vaguest terms that they may have to set up something akin to field hospitals at the start of next term. There appears to be no understanding of the scale of the logistical challenge involved.’” (link)

Dearie me! These unions are clearly not thinking of the welfare of the children, they are more concerned with not having been ‘consulted’ and with the prospect of teachers perhaps having to do some more work. None of them ask why this regime is necessary anyway when teachers surely have now all been vaccinated! Perhaps they are willing helpers in the unspeakable campaign of vaccinating perfectly healthy children against something which doesn’t make them ill in the first place.

I leave you with some delicious news on the aftermath of yesterday’s footie game where England beat Germany. Here, the crowds enjoyed the event – in Berlin however the weather gods doubled down on German misery:

“Devastated Germans watching the Euros were drenched by thunderstorms that broke out in Berlin at the moment their heroes were defeated by the Brits.” (link)

The photos in that report speak for themselves. As for me – I won’t deny that I indulged in a bit of ‘Schadenfreude’. It’s of course the fault of Madame Merkel who wants to take the finals away from us, so: serves them right! Keep it up, Angie – your interference might make that Cup ‘come home’.

KBO!
