Today, we’ll have a lesson on how to create ‘fear and hysteria’ in one easy ‘report’. Before we get to that, there are a few other CV-19 items which are of interest, such as reports on ‘test and trace’ and on the collateral damages to our health through Lockdown.
Starting with that last item first, we read that ‘it has come to light’ that the government’s message to “Save the NHS” by staying at home, a.k.a. ‘Lockdown’, has led to an increase in deaths from heart attacks:
“The study, led by the University of Leeds, tracked more than 50,000 patients who had a heart attack and were treated at 99 major hospitals in England before or during lockdown. It found that, overall, the number being treated for the most common type of heart attack […] fell by 49 per cent in the two months from March 23. Deaths from such attacks rose by 39 per cent in the month after lockdown, with 30-day mortality rates rising from 5.4 per cent to 7.5 per cent. The number of people being seen for the most major type of heart attack fell by 29 per cent, the study found.” (link, paywalled)
The conclusion reached by those doctors was that the government message to stay at home was ‘too effective’:
“The research prompted warnings that the Government’s “Stay Home” message may have had a “devastating” impact by deterring thousands of patients in medical crisis from seeking help.” (link, paywalled)
Odd, isn’t it, that no mention was made about GPs barricading themselves inside their surgeries, only ‘open’ to telephone consultations. Odd, isn’t it, that these doctors did not mention the actual and reasonable fear of people of catching the virus when going to hospital.
A report on a poll amongst members of the Royal College of Physicians shows that their members had reached the same conclusion:
“A Royal College of Physicians survey found that 60 per cent of doctors were concerned that their patients had come to harm after delays in diagnosis or treatment during the pandemic. The poll, which involved 1,029 senior doctors and consultants, suggested that cardiology, cancer, diabetes, care of the elderly, lung disease and illnesses of the digestive system were the most common areas affected. […] Clinicians said the message to “Stay at home, protect the NHS, save lives” may have had the “unintended consequence” of deterring people from seeking urgent help when they developed heart attack symptoms.” (link, paywalled)
Odd, isn’t it, that lockdown sceptics, many clinicians amongst them, have been writing about just this ‘collateral damage’ caused by Lockdown. Odd, isn’t it, that saving ‘Our Sacred Cow’ has turned out to have been at the cost of our lives, lives lost not to CV-19 but to other illnesses and diseases. Don’t expect ‘Our MSM’ to accept the blame for this situation!
There’s another oddity which has come to light. The all-party Home Affairs committee of the HoC was told by experts that:
“Experts from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine told the MPs that they calculated up to 10,000 infected people, largely from Spain, France and Italy – including families returning from half-term breaks – imported Covid-19 into the UK.” (paywalled link)
Interesting, isn’t it: these findings are based on ‘calculations’, not on tests which didn’t exist at that time. Moreover, it’s noteworthy that these findings don’t mention the daily flights from e.g. China or the subcontinent whose passengers surely were also infected. I wonder why that is … perhaps the government at that time didn’t want to be called ‘racist’, as ‘Our MSM’ called President Trump when he stopped flights from China at the beginning of the outbreak.
And so to the lesson in ‘how to create fear and hysteria’ in one article. Yesterday afternoon (it’s now hidden away) the DT published a shock-horror report under the headline:
“Councils can demolish contaminated buildings under new powers to stop second coronavirus wave – Care homes, factories, offices and even private homes could be bulldozed as last resort if virus starts to run out of control” (paywalled link)
Omigawd! Has Johnson now totally lost it? You may very well think so! After all, it’s his photo, at one of those daily press conference lecterns, which tops the report. A closer look however shows that this report is based on a government publication issued by the Dept of Health on July 17th. So it’s not precisely breaking news, is it, nor does it seem to have worried our intrepid CV-19 reporters at that time.
That document gives far-reaching powers to local authorities as government tries to shift its CV-19 policies from national to to local lockdowns. You can read the whole document here. The article however raises fear, hysteria and outrage by headlining just one sentence in that government text while quoting the relevant passage lower down in the report:
“The document, published by the Department of Health and Social Care, advises councils that, under the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984, they can apply to a magistrate “to impose restrictions or requirements to close contaminated premises; close public spaces in the area of the local authority; detain a conveyance or movable structure; disinfect or decontaminate premises; or order that a building, conveyance or structure be destroyed”. (paywalled link)
Yes, it’s a CYA exercise by government, attempting to cover all eventualities. However, a local tinpot dictator must first apply to magistrates before going on a rampage so Johnson isn’t calling out the bulldozers, is he!
The headline for this report, based on that one sentence, was calculated to create unnecessary fear and outrage. People generally read headlines rather than the whole thing, so this paragraph near the end probably didn’t reach the attention of the readers:
“It raises the possibility that care homes, factories, offices or even private homes could be bulldozed as a last resort if the virus starts to run out of control, although such measures have not been considered necessary during the outbreak.” (paywalled link)
So it is only ‘a possibility’, but let’s get in the phrase ‘if the virus starts to run out of control’ while shamefacedly mentioning that even at the height of the outbreak such demolitions haven’t taken place.
That report was about creating more fear and hysteria while not addressing the fact that local authorities are being given more powers – and they’re taking it:
“Councils across the north of England are to set up their own track-and-trace systems to plug holes in the government’s £10 billion national scheme.” (link, paywalled)
Local authorities believe that they’re better able to trace possible CV-19 infected people than the national NHS scheme, with NHS ‘tracing’ staff now saying that it would have been better if this scheme had been ‘local’ from the beginning:
“Those being contacted were likely to be more willing to disclose their contacts and co-operate if they were being called by “someone you know and trust from your local GP surgery” rather than a stranger, […] Many calls from the service’s 0300 number are being ignored, and tracers have to leave a voicemail.” (link, paywalled)
It’s not, as government authorities seem to believe, about people being unwilling to come forward to be tested nor about “only about 80%” of people being ‘traced’, it’s about something else. See this analysis in the Times:
“Strangely, the system finds it hardest to reach contacts living in the same household, tracing barely half of them as against three quarters of those living elsewhere. While people will informally speak to family members, the system wants to speak to them itself given concerns about household transmission in the northwest.” (link, paywalled)
I leave it to you to puzzle out why “The System” wants to speak to everyone in the same household – does “The System” not believe that people may ‘speak informally’ with others in their own household? Perhaps it’s just another box-ticking exercise aimed at getting even more data for government, via ‘Our NHS’.
I leave you with a remarkable piece of WHO ‘News’ – on vaccines. The WHO has warned Russia not to ‘rush its vaccines to market’:
“A WHO spokesman said: “There are established practices and there are guidelines out. Any vaccine . . . for this purpose should be, of course, going through all the various trials and tests before being licensed.” (link, paywalled)
Russia aims to introduce their vaccine in October, but has so far not done any 2nd and 3rd-phase trials according to the WHO. Rest assured though, the DT has ‘previously revealed’ on August 1st that:
“Britain would be likely to reject a potentially game-changing coronavirus vaccine from Russia amid strong reservations about the trial process there, the Telegraph can reveal. That approach chimes with the US, where Anthony Fauci, America’s top infectious disease official, raised doubts about the testing regimes for potential vaccines in both Russia and China. There are strict international protocols governing the development of new drugs.” (link, paywalled)
So no Russian vaccine for us – but where’s the WHO warning about Chinese vaccines? Was the warning not to rush out vaccines meant just for Russia? Doesn’t it apply generally? Answers on a postcard!
Apologies for delving into the CV-19 madness stoked by ‘Our MSM’. Sadly, given their ongoing aim to keep us cowering in fear, it was useful to show how they work, how they set about to create that climate of fear where people don’t dare to see a doctor or go to hospital.
What would the intrepid CV-19 reporters possibly write about if that virus weren’t there! Let’s hope that with the end of the Silly Season we’ll also see an end to this MSM-induced madness.
KBO!
Why is it never said that people’s reluctance to seek hospital attention is that they KNEW they’d be on their own? That their nearest and dearest wouldn’t be with them. That was enough to keep everyone at home and hoping against hope they didn’t need to be ”taken away”.
” IT’S A SORT OF NATIONAL ACTION JIM, – BUT NOT AS WE KNOW IT. ”
Or if you wish …..
” COVID 19 ! – THOUGH FRANKLY MY DEAR, I DON’T GIVE A DAMN. ”
Then again, preferred by many …..
” THIS IS NOT THE END. – IT IS NOT EVEN THE BEGINNING OF THE END.
BUT IT IS PERHAPS, THE END OF THE BEGINNING. ”
or
” NEVER IN THE FIELD OF HUMAN ILLNESS,
WAS SO MANY ERRORS MADE, BY SO FEW,
AT A COST TO SO MANY, AS WELL AS THE NATIONAL ECONOMY ” !
These are the disconnected thoughts of an unhappy man, who has been
brought low mentally by house arrest, and living alone. – Now obliged to
wear a mask with a 5% benefit, to keep a Government happy !
WHEN WILL IT END, so I can be with all the family again ?
Lying in bed this morning I am pretty certain I heard the newsreader (on Classic FM) mention a HoC all party committee that dared to question the “gubmint’s” decision not to close airports, and thus to allow untested travellers entry to the country.
A “gubmint” spokesperson replied that they were, “…only following the science”.
I was so angry that, having struggled to the kitchen and boiled the kettle, my first cup of coffee and a fag were quite spoiled.
I was making comparisons with the Nuremburg Trials. The defence that, “… I was only obeying orders” did not save the accused from the hangman.
So it must be with Boris the Clown. As PM he is (theoretically) head of “gubmint”, so he must bear the responsibility.
The “science”: Choose a dodgy scientist whose modelling has been discredited to create another model…
.. ignore the fact that said “scientist” is from Imperial College which has received monies from the same country that gave us the virus… Keep all entries to the country wide open, including the Dover Dinghy Service… Dump covid cases from hospitals onto unprepared care homes with the expected unpleasant outcome… massage the ONS statistics to show inflated Covid deaths; deaths WITH rather than FROM.Covid-19… Close down businesses, lock away the people, impose face-masks and trash the economy…all to save “our NHS”… “Project fear” in full swing.
Many years ago Ealing Studios made good comedy films. What could they do with that story-line. I would cast peter Ustinov as PM, I’ll leave the rest of the cast to your imagination.
The big difference is that those films had happy endings… I doubt if this real life tragedy will
“The System wants to speak to everyone in the same household” – Well that won’t be allowed by many especially as there are so many non english-speaking people in them and have no say in the way their lives are lived.
Brexit – What a load of horse manure. Just change the WA agreement and they can take it or leave it.
Migrants – return them immediately they are picked up, job done.
Too much common sense for government or are they working to someone else’s agenda? Probably both.
With regard to GP’s “barricading themselves inside their surgeries”. Yesterday morning I noticed blood coming from me in a place it shouldn’t be coming from. I phoned my surgery just after 8am, had a telephone consultation with a GP at 8.40am and was offered a face-to-face appointment to be examined at 2pm.
Other people arrived shortly after me, also for face-to-face appointments. My surgery has, apparently, been offering such appointments all through lockdown. All credit to them.
‘… doctors did not mention the actual and reasonable fear of people of catching the virus when going to hospital ..’ Why should they, as long as they’re protected in their surgery bubbles.
probably wasnt all fear of hospital. ‘That nagging ache can wait a bit as the NHS is busy. its my duty to not bother them now.’
My apologies. I had quite forgotten that the far right on here doesn’t tolerate anyone who disagrees with them.
Brenda, I think you mistaken. I haven’t seen any far right views expressed on this site for a long time now. Maybe the odd one or two who still feel that UKIP should not have got rid of Gerard Batten etc.
BR – apologies to whom, for what?
Are you using the bbc defn of far right? = just right of Marx and Engles? Oh, sorry that is called bbc hyper-right wing.
In truth I envy you. A doctor’s appointment. When I was younger I used to dream of . . . and dentists!
Only three and a half months with teeth pain. Not allowed treatment, or we shall alll die.
See also my comment below and time stamp,
Brenda – kindly provide examples where this ‘far right on here which you apparently detected is, in your words, “not tolerating anyone who disagrees with them”.
Throwing such accusation around with no proof, in the fashion we know from representatives of the ‘far left’ who populate the grauniad, is unacceptable.
Oh Brenda. You so nearly got away with it because, contrary to your conditioning, most folk on here are honest and genuine and willing to listen to ALL views and take comments at face value. And if you were a regular you would know that.
Then you ruined it. You could not resist revealing your prejudice.
And by the way, it is the far-left, well actually now the Left in general, that doesn’t tolerate anyone who disagrees with them. That’s pretty much the reason we are still in this mess; people who know better are kept off the airwaves. Anyone would think the Left was using this convenient crisis to push its agenda.
BR – that’s not my experience of recent doctors appointments today. You must be the exception that proves the rule.
Better off going to accident and emergency. Even then, slim pickins. And if / when they keep you in, they hold you for three weeks beyond treatment, cos you likely have the *killer* virus (picked up from those hazmat suited *angels*). And it keeps the *numbers of saved* up.
“Has Johnson now totally lost it? ” I’m not convinced he had it in the first place, he was the only choice amongst a bunch of poor alternatives and now needs a string of solid decisions to have any credibility. We need a strong and reliable alternative.
Climate change, multiculturism and globalisation. This government must be the best behaved member of the UN in the whole world.
..not forgetting compliance with other aspects of the UN Agendas? If so that is the worrying part and the reason behind apparently stupid actions or lack thereof.
Johnson has steadfastly been following orders from his globalist masters, the moves might look stupid to intelligent people BUT its all in the moves to global political domination. There are no “reliable” alternatives, its long past that stage of the plan. Rebellion is now the only option. Start that by guarding where you spend your cash, boycott as much eu goods and food produce as possible for a start
What is really going on is explained very well here

I agree Jim. we desperately need a “Tri-Bred” man for Prime Minister, a man with the qualities of Oliver Cromwell/Winston Churchill/Enoch Powell and a government totalling 250 English men, 40% being English ex servicemen.
We got what we voted for, warts and all. Free loaders, career pollies, a few sincere in their wish to respond to their constituents, but far, far, more highly averse to losing the party whip. Some of us voted for a party, some voted against a party, a few voted for a person. Whichever, WE VOTED them in, deceptive manifesto and all. If your party representative in parliament is not doing what you expect of him/her, but instead doing what the party requires, recall them for an annual review. Unless, of course, you’ve already swallowed the lie that parliament is sovereign.
Excuse naive question but new concept to me .. how would you go about recalling for review?
I guess the Welsh, Scottish and Irish could be included too as long as they are all singing from the same hymn sheet. Of course it would be necessary to dissolve the devolved parliament which have been an unmitigated failure.
JimR, you’re not wrong there. We certainly need an alternative to this totally fake Conservative Party. Since February it seems to have evolved into a Green Liberal Democrat Party mark 2. I think our best hope is to wait and see what Nigel Farage has up his sleeve, as The Brexit Party is starting to stir from its 8 month hibernation, with the three surveys sent out recently to its registered supporters I just hope to goodness that we don’t have to wait that long because May 2021 is only 9 months away for a party to get back on its feet, put in place a manifesto of policies, recruit activists and get election candidates selected. The Brexit Party should be looking to sweep the Conservatives from power in the local elections next year. Being walloped at the polls is the only thing they understand, and that is what they deserve in my opinion.
