An unapologetic warning: prepare for his come-back as puppet master …

Nothing is more nauseating than having to observe the Westminster journaille in full-strength pearl-clutching outrage, hunting an MP “because: Sex! Drink!”. Other news items? Oh, more flights are cancelled – that’s a blow to the holiday-making dwellers of Audi Avenue – and the price for air travel will rise and rise. Ah well – that’s inflation, innit, and anyway, air travel is so un-green, so it’s a good thing most of us won’t be able to afford it. ‘Tis just a pity that so many English seaside hotels are booked out as permanent residence for all those illegals who’ve intrepidly crossed the Channel in their borrowed dinghies. In other ‘economic news’, we’re told that BJ’s government is thinking about a 50-year-mortgage which the children of those proud debtors can inherit. Still, today is a red-letter-day: not one paper has anything about the Ukraine on the dead-tree-front pages – not one! Check it out here.

Those of us with good memories recall the last days of the John-Major-Premiership where suddenly the Tories had become a bunch of unelectable sex maniacs whereas Blair’s Labour was as pure as the driven snow. Today certainly feels as if the Westminster MSM are aiming to create a similar situation, omitting to mention anything detrimental to Labour. Suddenly, it’s even ok to use the word ‘champagne socialist’ for those Labour politicians going to Glyndebourne (link, paywalled). However – we must never forget that Labourites are not, cannot be hypocrites, nor can they be ‘sex pests’. That, and drunkenness, is the realm of the Tories, or so our esteemed hacks are working hard at banging into our heads. After all, anything the Westminster MSM don’t write about hasn’t happened and doesn’t exist.

So let’s look at the drunken ‘Tory Sex Pest’ who resigned from his office as deputy whip and has now had the whip withdrawn by BJ, a PM who is not an enemy of wine and women, as we all know. What I find nauseating about this whole tale is that the papers are turning this into a ‘clobber BJ campaign’ – not that he deserved to be clobbered day in day out – while hiding their selective reporting under a cloak of moral outrage’ as female Tory MPs are busy making this into a ‘look, we’ve acted immediately to clean up this mess’ item:

“Pincher’s suspension followed an event at the Carlton Club on Wednesday at which witnesses described him as being excessively drunk. Concerns about his behaviour were raised by Sarah Dines, a fellow whip, following an event organised by the Conservative Friends of Cyprus. The alleged assault is understood to have been witnessed by at least one Conservative MP, who is prepared to corroborate the claims.” (link, paywalled)

If you think this ought to have been it, then you’re wrong. Now, as this MP has become fodder for the MSM, the intrepid news researchers got busy and dug out more, e.g. that his proclivities had long been known, that allegedly he’d even been given ‘a government minder’ to keep him out of trouble (paywalled link). We ‘re also given a blow-by-blow account of Tory MPs demanding ‘something must be done now’, of BJ procrastinating, of allegations that Mr Pincher was ‘protected’ because he was a BJ loyalist, unlike that ‘Porn-MP’ who was made to resign immediately, triggering a by election which the Tories lost.

I have questions going begging which our Westminster correspondents aren’t asking, for example: if Mr Pincher’s behaviour was so well known, why was he given that constituency in the first place, never mind having been made deputy whip? Is it credible that both the Tory Party and the incestuous Westminster journaille were totally unaware of his behaviour which seems to’ve been of long standing? Was he perhaps given ‘exemption’ because he is gay? Was he perhaps protected because, being a known drunkard, he was a good “source” for gossip which the hacks so rely on?

Verily, this is a malodorous political swamp, made even more swampy thanks to the hypocrisy of all involved, from the PM down to the lowliest ‘reporter’. I can’t help thinking that this latest Westminster ‘outrage’ is being used by the MSM and interested parties to push Labour into No 10. Now my suspicions make sense. I was puzzled in the week just gone when suddenly a number of reports on a certain Tony B. appearing in the broadsheets, from TB giving ‘advice’ to Starmer, not to support strikes of public sector unions (link, paywalled) to a puff piece about Blair trying to ‘rebuild the centre ground’ (link, paywalled) and a report about TB saying that Brexit is ‘settled and won’t be overturned in a generation (paywalled link).

Having observed this daily drip-drip-drip of TB articles, I wondered if he was planning a comeback. Well, it seems I was right: he is indeed planning a comeback, but not for himself. The DM’s Andrew Neil confirms my suspicions in his piece today, writing that TB aims “to be the mastermind behind a centre-Left government that would replace the ailing Tory administration of Boris Johnson at the next General Election.” (link). Well, lookit there: how interesting! Is that why we suddenly hear about Labour front benchers being so ‘cultural’ that they even go to Glyndebourne? Has TB advised them on making themselves palatable to the Tory-voting shires?

I apologise for messing up your weekend, reporting on the spectre of Blair coming back, pulling the strings of a Labour government, with the help of the Westminster journaille. To make up for that peccadillo, I’m linking to three articles which are a must-read. One is the translation of a speech given by the grandson of Charles de Gaulle (link). The other two are translations of a long interview of Jacques Baud with a German paper: first read this one, then this one. I hope that’ll keep you out of mischief over the weekend.
