‘We’re doomed …’

Tomorrow the fine spectacle of Peak Hypocrisy will start. It’s that Green Jamboree called COP27. A quick look at the ‘other news’ first (link). The truly earth-shattering news, as far as some of our MSM are concerned, is that Mr Musk, now owner of twitter, is sacking lots and lots of twitter workers. My comment:

There’s also the wail about another stealth tax, affecting all who are saving for their pensions. I do wonder why it is that our beloved MSM editors and ‘correspondents’ are so upset about this ‘stealth tax’ when other stealth taxes are utterly disregarded.

No worries though – Sunak has given an interview (sorry, I couldn’t find a proper link) where he “has warned that people cannot expect the state to “fix every problem” (link, paywalled). Who knew! I won’t expect his government to retreat from nudging and micromanaging us. It’s what the public service has been living for ever since TBlair.

Obviously, the one ‘problem’ he and the rest of the world is going to try and fix for us is yon Climate thingie. Equally obviously, it’s the one thingie where we’ll be made to bear the brunt of all those ‘planet-saving’ schemes. I’ll just mention Miliband’s (Lab) green surcharge on our energy bills …

Before I delve into the manifestations of green hypocrisy I’ll just mention the strange incident of a U-Turn not being ‘a bad thing’. La Truss, remember, was lambasted for u-turning at every opportunity. Dear Rishi’s u-turn regarding his participation at yon Climate thingie: not a word of criticism.

To set the scene, please read this brief note regarding a strange contradiction, published a few days ago in ‘Tallbloke’s Talkshop’ (link): temperatures in good old Europe have risen at ‘more than double the rate of the rest of the world’ while at the same time ‘greenhouse gas emissions had decreased 31% between 1990 and 2020.‘ (link).

Sadly, this strange contradiction hasn’t raised any eyebrows, nowhere. And so, keeping this notice in mind, see this report, the first of many to come, showing that it’s only about peacocking and ‘green credential displays’ (my emphasis):

“Rishi Sunak praised the King’s “longstanding and far-sighted leadership” on climate change as he joined him at Buckingham Palace for a reception before the Cop27 conference. More than 200 international business leaders, decision makers and campaigners gathered yesterday to mark the end of the UK’s presidency of Cop26, before talks begin in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, tomorrow. Meanwhile, António Guterres, the UN secretary-general, warned that rich countries must sign a “historic pact” with developing nations or the world “will be doomed”.” (link, paywalled)

Oooh – I’m so impressed! After the ‘we’re doomed’ of the covid thingie and the other ‘doomed, I tellsya’ because of Putin and ‘nuclear armageddon’, we’re back to ‘doomed because of climate whatevah’? Blimey.

Unsurprisingly, even while ‘the state can’t fix all problems’, we’re back to the usual demand which has accompanied every climate summit I can remember: give the ‘poor nations’ more money or else. It has worked so well during the past ten or twenty or thirty years, hasn’t it. Even the UN head honcho ought to have realised by now that ‘the rich nations’ are impoverishing themselves at an accelerating rate, thanks to their ‘sanctions’ policies.

Never mind that though – al Beeb published a report which I expect to see taken up in the print media. It is utterly shameless. Under the headline “COP27: Climate anxiety is rising – it might be a good thing” we read:

“It is no surprise that climate anxiety is rising, particularly among young people, who have mostly only known a world affected by climate change. But experts and activists have told BBC News that these fears can actually be good news for the planet. “People are who really aware of climate change may be more motivated to take action,” University of Bath environmental psychologist Prof Lorraine Whitmarsh says.” (link)

Words fail me! Never mind that ‘climate anxiety’ has been manufactured and nudged to rise by the international green crap acolytes – here are the same meejah now ‘celebrating’ the rise of anxiety in the young which have bemoaned the rise of ‘anxiety and mental illness’ in that age group, even cautiously hinting that perhaps yon lockdowns might have had something to do with that rise.

You couldn’t make it up – but it has method, even though this method isn’t mentioned. However, here’s a report in The Times about those ‘stop oil terrorists’ where we read:

“Just Stop Oil organisers asked protesters to sign contracts that committed them to taking action that would lead to arrest, an investigation has found. The commitment applied unless a “dramatic event” such as a death of a relative prevented them from participating in protests.” (link, paywalled)

This article is based on a paper just published by the think tank ‘Policy Exchange’ – here’s the link to the whole thing – but the dear old Times is carefully trying to maintain a fence-sitting attitude (my emphasis):

“The contracts were circulated at workshops and recruitment events held ahead of protests in March. Those who signed up had to commit to being arrested “at least once” by the end of the month. They also pledged to attend a one-day “non-violence training” session. The forms included what Policy Exchange described as “cult-like” statements warning people not to back out of protests because of the “unimaginable horror” that would occur if Just Stop Oil’s demands are not met by the government.” (link, paywalled)

See – it’s not The Times calling this organisation ‘cult-like’, it’s yon think tank. After all, those ‘stop oil’ people are from a social group which could be reading The Times. This is an international organisation, their acolytes, glueing themselves to roads or works of art, are everywhere.

In Germany their actions recently led to the death of a young woman in a traffic accident because the emergency services couldn’t reach her in time. The irate question from German readers is one which we can ask here as well: how come yon terrorists are treated with kid gloves by the police – the same police which waded in forcefully, kitted out in paramilitary gear, at demos against lockdowns and vaxx passports?

Since the state can’t solve all our problems, as the current PM has informed us, perhaps we peasants should take matters into our own hands. No – not by ripping those climate terrorists from the places they’ve glued themselves to! No, that would be violence! Instead, I suggest we organise a General Strike: no traffic, no food in supermarkets, no work in no offices or WFH, no electricity, no gas, nothing.

After all, it might provide some necessary lessons to yon climate cultists. The bonus: we can practise how to survive under total blackout conditions. Anyway, whatever we do:
