“Taxi! Now!”

 

“Immigration” is again dominating today’s front pages. The Red Tops’ print editions also have some gruesome photos of the former NHS and Lockdown boss, Hancock – just what I wanted to see with my first cup of coffee! Scroll down here if you can stomach it.

However, before I delve into the various ‘migrant’ reports, here’s one article which confirms once and for all that the nudgers, the ‘speech regulators’, are hard at work and are now shamelessly coming out into the open. See this (my emphasis):

“The BBC may be urged to avoid terms like “tax burden”, according to sources connected to the report, as this implicitly presents taxes as unwelcome and to be avoided. Sources have suggested that by unintentionally framing debates about tax in this way, BBC coverage may be undermining its commitment to impartiality, as the choice of language could imply cuts are positive and more spending is negative. Experts close to the review have suggested that comparisons of the UK economy to a “household budget” or a “credit card that can be maxed out” are similarly unhelpful and inaccurate, as these analogies prejudice the public against borrowing that would be normal for the state but irresponsible for households.” (paywalled link)

I wonder who these anonymous ‘experts’ are. Never mind that it’s blatantly ridiculous to demand BBC hacks be told how to express themselves ‘in order to be ‘impartial’, it’s obvious to me that those experts are deeply into Orwellian Newspeak. After all, if we must no longer hear or talk about a ‘tax burden’, it’ll go away, innit like. Those who complain can be ‘cancelled’ because they are clearly tight-fisted, hard-hearted, ‘extreme far ultra right’ populists or summink like that, especially once Sir Kneeler is in No 10.

The BBC news writers and presenters will of course do as they’re told. After all, they’ve already informed us that they will use the lovely word ‘migrants’ for all those invaders. Mustn’t hurt the feelings of those criminals. Oh – I forgot: we mustn’t use ‘illegal’ which means ‘criminal’ because that is also bound to hurt someone’s feelings. 

Speaking of invaders, Nigel Farage had some hair-raising news yesterday evening on GB News. You can watch the video clip here, but the DM, astonishingly, picked up one of those news items. Their headline says it all:

“Heroes kicked OUT so migrants can be let IN: Lifeboat crew on training course are thrown out of three-star hotel to make way for asylum seekers” (link). 

Providing us with a most exemplary instance of how to ‘frame the narrative’, the DT also picked up an item from Nigel Farage’s GB News video clip. It’s the one where he showed that letter from Kent local councils:

“Fourteen largely Conservative councils wrote to Mrs Braverman warning that Kent was at “breaking point” with health, social care services and schools already under “extreme pressure” from surging local demand and the cost-of-living crisis. The councils covering Kent and Medway said incidents of “far-Right activity” continued to grow at sites housing migrants after the firebomb attack on Border Force’s quayside reception centre for small boat arrivals in Dover. “We are deeply concerned about the potential for a further outbreak of disorder,” they said.” (paywalled link)

Does this mean that ‘mostly Labour Councils’ aren’t complaining because they’re  happy to receive ever more invaders? Or does this mean that the Home office mandarins are following TBlair’s wishes, to ‘rub the Tories’ noses in’, by forwarding yon invaders to ‘Conservative Councils’?

Perhaps we’re simply not told because the Westminster MSM are doing what they have done so successfully during the covid years: publishing ‘nudge’ articles only so that we peasants will accept all those poor ’migrants’. Perhaps Dan Wootton’s interpretation of the reason for the Braverman bashing is correct? Read it here, it’s not paywalled.

It’s all our own fault anyway because the Albanian PM said so: “we” simply ought to have provided Albanians with visa, according to reports in the DT (paywalled link). The Times in their headline is already following the BBC’s ‘newspeak regulation’: “Albanian PM tells Britain: Don’t blame us for your migrant crisis” (link, paywalled).

Both papers are utilising the Albanian PM’s tweets to lambast Ms Braverman yet again. Note also that nowadays even such important international policies like immigration are conducted by tweets. Clearly, “we” don’t need diplomats nor, actually, foreign secretaries.

Funny, innit, how the Westminster swamp dwellers try to nudge us into accepting the diktats of diktators of tiny countries. Funny how there’s only this one paragraph in the DT report mentioning criminal gangs:

“Some 12,000 Albanians have reached the UK this year after crossing the Channel – a quarter of the total 40,000, with Home Office officials attributing the “exponential rise” to Albanian criminal gangs gaining a foothold in northern France.” (paywalled link). 

France is also totally helpless against those criminal people traffickers. The Times reports:

“People smugglers are using “taxi boats” to ferry migrants to dinghies waiting to cross the Channel in a tactic designed to thwart French police. Officials say migrants are being picked up in estuaries and sometimes further upstream where they can wade to the waiting boats, undetected by police. The migrants are then taken to dinghies to cross the Channel. French officials say the tactic arose only in the past few months. They have noticed that two or three taxi boats are used each week. They see it as a sign of the growing sophistication of the smuggling networks, which are bringing increasing numbers of migrants.” (link, paywalled)

The Frogs just shrug their shoulders in typical Frog manner: nothing they can do about this. Perhaps “we” should give them some more money? Perhaps “we” should also give some more money to Albania? There’s a rather interesting report in the DT this morning, headlined “Albanian wallets fat with cash as cities are stripped of their young heading to Britain” (paywalled link) where we read that:

“[…] the spoils of illegal migration and crime are set to receive an amnesty. Any Albanian citizen living at home or abroad can put €2 million (£1.7 million) into the banking system, no questions asked, under plans being finalised by Tirana. They will get to keep the cash in return for up to 10 per cent tax.” (paywalled link)

If that isn’t an incentive for criminal people traffickers then I don’t know what is! Instead of blaming us, the Albanian PM ought to praise us for providing such incredible financial support for his country. After all, it’s easy to earn cash in the black economy when housing, food and electricity is provided by us stupid tax paying plebs!

Never mind all that! I’m sure the BBC will come up with another regulation to make us feel good, like using ‘migrants’ for criminal invaders. And if their ‘experts’ decide that it’s uncouth to talk about ‘tax grabs’, as The Times does in their headline on Sunak and Hunt’s budget plans (link, paywalled) then we’ll happily accept that our ‘contributions’ to the Treasury’s coffers, formerly known as ‘taxes’, are well spent on ‘poor migrants’.

After all, the saying that ‘charity begins at home’ is so last millennium!
