They’re not coming for you today, they’re striking
Today, the ambulance drivers are on strike again. The government has proposed legislation to ban strikes for workers in occupations affecting ‘life and limb’. Labour is totally against that. Oh, and there’s the ongoing Aitch dross still commanding pages and pages of our wonderful MSM. Here’s the compilation of this morning’s papers.
I’ve wasted too much time already on looking at the online guff, broadsheets, Red Tops: no difference. Still, regarding the proposed legislation, have a look at the report in the DM (link). It was, after all, the lead article for their print edition – one’s got to scroll down and down and down to find it online. Since there’s nothing we can do about it I’ve simply put it here ‘for the record’. After all, it’s good to know what to expect when the Westminster cabal gets their fond wish fulfilled with Starmer in No 10.
There was one article though which demanded a closer look. Under the headline “1,000 excess deaths each week as the NHS buckles – Excluding pandemic, figures are worst since 1951” The Times has a carefully worded report, describing ‘what is’ (this and the following emphases are all mine):
“Fifty thousand more people died last year than normal, with NHS delays blamed for one of the most deadly 12 months on record. Excluding the pandemic years, 2022 brought the highest excess deaths total since 1951, according to an analysis by The Times. There were 1,600 more deaths than usual during Christmas week as long waits for ambulances, cold weather and surging flu infections increased mortality rates by a fifth.” (link, paywalled)
These excess deaths clearly cannot just have occurred during the Christmas period. Some attempts at explanation followed, for example:
“Covid accounts only for a minority of recent extra deaths, focusing attention on “compelling” evidence that the crisis in the NHS is killing hundreds of people a week. Untreated health problems as people were urged to stay away from surgeries and hospitals during the pandemic are also thought to be contributing to the deaths. Experts have also cited lingering after-effects of Covid infection.” (link, paywalled)
Blimey – the Sacred Cow is killing hundreds of people, “Because: Crisis!” Clearly a case for giving ‘moar money’ to the NHS! The report goes on quoting ‘experts’.
Not one quote, not one sentence mentions the covid vaccines and the now well documented, devastating effects of those vaccines. Only the long waiting times especially for ambulances are blamed instead:
“Adrian Boyle, president of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, said the latest death figures were “shockingly high”. He acknowledged it was “extremely difficult to determine the causes” but pointed to studies showing deaths rose with longer waits at A&E. “Our own analysis indicates that an estimated 300-500 patients are dying per week across the UK associated with long waiting times in emergency departments,” he said. “This is awful, distressing and completely unacceptable. The health system is not functioning as it should. Our priority should not be to quibble about the data, but to mitigate the harm of this crisis.” (link, paywalled)
Oh – we don’t need no data to quibble over? Then why use these data to demand ‘moar money’? Since this terrible situation has been going on ever since lockdowns, why is it that all those experts haven’t done anything about this?
We know that A&E departments are ‘full’ because there are no beds elsewhere in hospitals. Why is that? Might it be because hospital managers are still keeping up all covid ‘distancing’ measures? Might it be because the ‘gatekeepers’, the GPs, are still not ‘seeing’ patients? Might it be because vast NHS resources have been wasted on vaccinating everybody, again and again?
These are all questions which can be answered only by those who do not interpret everything NHS through the twin spectacles of ‘covid’ and ‘moar money’. There is however a graph in this report which made me wonder why neither the reporter nor anyone else seems to ask why.
Look at this graph – and ask yourselves why it is that more males die, from age 0, than females who only die more frequently in their high old age, probably because there are more surviving females in each age group.
Does this happen because ‘men live more dangerously than women’? Does this happen because ‘men don’t see their GPs’ in time? Not even when they’re babies and infants? There couldn’t be an anti-male bias in the NHS, now could there!
I think this is a question which deserves research and answers. I don’t think anyone will even try because our whole culture is now geared towards ‘abolish white patriarchal supremacy’.
This report has saddened me. It illustrates how far we’ve sunk when valid and relevant questions like the one about vaccine side effects aren’t even asked, when this blatant gender division in death numbers isn’t even worth mentioning.

A cardiologist remarked to Andrew Bridgen that the vaccine damage was “…the biggest crime against humanity since the holocaust”. Bridgen has lost the Tory whip on the grounds that “Misinformation about the vaccine causes harm and costs lives”. One could say, yes, the misinformation is that the so called vaccine is completely safe or that it prevented you from catching covid (demonstrably false now) or stopped transmission (also demonstrably false now). It has also been demonstrated to wane in effectiveness (whatever that might be) within weeks so at best, if there is benefit, it saves lives for a few weeks only. But, we can’t discuss this or quote cardiologists and other doctors risking putting their heads above the parapet.
Mention of the holocaust was unproductive hyperbole, but Bridgen’s fate shows how debate is being shutdown. Challenge govermment orthodoxy and see what happens to you. Tory MPs are also warned against challenging transgender teaching in schools and the 15 minute city protests in Oxfordshire.
Matt Hancock “hit out” at Bridgen’s “disgusting, antisemitic, anti-vax conspiracy theories” at Prime Minister’s Questions and Sunak said he was “determined that the scourge of antisemitism is eradicated”. An injudicious comparison to the holocaust is not antisemitism, but framing it as that is the well used formula of distraction and slur to shut down debate. Handily, this manufactured storm in a teacup, also distracts from the now 1000 excess deaths a week, up from 500 last week, and the ever intensifying crisis in primary and emergency care.
I can understand MPs getting hysterical over trivia. It is now so bad outside the Westminster bubble, and their abilities so inadequate to the task of running the country, that the temptation to lose themselves in manufactured nonsense must be overwhelming. Anything to avoid facing reality. I’m approaching that frame of mind myself.
As to sex ratios in death, (see graph mentioned above) the ratio at birth has been consistently (in the UK and around the world ignoring infanticide) about 105 males to 100 females. Thus, there are slightly more males in any population available to die. It is as if nature knows males die at a greater rate than females and compensates at the get go with some extra males. If you tot up the totals for 2022 in the graph mentioned above, the final result is 102 male deaths for every 100 female deaths. Now that coronary care is more or less a thing off the past, next year’s death ratio might get back to 105 males for every 100 female deaths.
Perhaps what Andrew Bridgen needs to do right now is to hole the Conservative Party blow the metaphorical waterline and defect to one of the centre right parties. Whilst I don’t really have any time for Reform UK as it presently stands, even defecting to them would I believe make some other Conservative MP’s question in their own minds what their party actually stands for and whether indeed it is truly conservative. From my standpoint, the Conservative Party don’t stand for terribly much and have done precious little conserving anything for at least 10 years and are patently not conservative at all. Personally I think the Conservatives are finished as a viable political party. They have a had a good innings and have been around for 200 years, but nothing lasts for ever and nor should it do, and they are now past their sell by date and need to move over and allow a party with real conservative values to take their former mantle.

Fully agree Lisa. The lads at the pub all watch his monologues too.
And I would say high salary increases for MP’s over the past few years including last year where they paid themselves a further £2300 per annum have sowed the seed for the present strikes. Government ministers may say now that the country afford the increases that the unions are after for their members, but I didn’t hear the same thing being said last March/April when the MP’s decided to pay that huge increase. It was said at the time, that it was not them who paid these large increases, but their pay review body. Its double standards all the way with our out of touch politicians, and it matters not whether they are Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat, SNP or Green. Yes, it was argued at the time that something needed to be done to bring MP’s salaries up to the same level of senior civil servants and to attract the best candidates blah blah blah, but that argument could be applied to any sphere of employment.
They would have done better Colin, to reduce the pay of senior civil servants!
