A Bank Holiday with no rain? That’s unbritish!

Yesterday’s big Jubilee event was the Thanksgiving Service in St Paul’s Cathedral. This was the occasion for the fashion writers and the society gossip columnists. Who cares about the Queen when one can write about Harry & Meghan and William &Catherine! Oh the drama! Every time when I think surely our MSM cannot sink lower – they do. For the record, here’s the collection of this morning’s print front pages.

Today is the 3rd day of the Platinum Jubilee Bank Holidays, celebrating the Queen with street parties all over the country. Of course, this being Britain, there will be rain and worse. Because this country has been so dumbed down that people cannot be expected to check weather forecasts for themselves,  the DT writes:

“Jubilee party planners are being warned to check the weather forecast as a flood warning was issued. […]The Met Office said that while many areas in the yellow weather warning area would be unlikely to see a thunderstorm at all, it was not possible to predict where they would hit.” (paywalled link)

I note with delight that the august Met Office is hedging their bets, saying they couldn’t possibly ‘predict’ where those thunderstorms might hit but ‘warns’ anyway. The Express, always the first with the most lurid predictions, has this headline: ‘UK weather: Horror as washout set to soak Jubilee weekend revellers with ‘torrential rain’ (link) – oh dear! Soggy sandwiches and rain-watered drinks: the horror. Perhaps everybody ought to stay home?

But the Express also hedges their bets by paraphrasing the Met Office’s predictions: “Platinum Jubilee revellers are set to be soaked with the risk of heavy showers on Saturday, according to the Met Office.” (link). No, I cannot explain how one can be ‘soaked with the risk’ … writing headlines and subtitles is a chancy business, especially when the aim is to generate clickbait rather than inform.

As you know, for some time I’ve been looking at the sites of news agencies in order to find information not tainted by ‘senior sources in Whitehall’, telling the MSM how to spin something. Here is a report from Brussels by the news agency Reuters, reporting on the EU’s latest, inane ‘sanctions’:

“The European Union on Friday blacklisted Russian military commanders who it said led troops involved in atrocities in Ukraine, describing them as the “butchers” of Bucha and Mariupol.” (link)

I’ve picked this as a striking example for the way  politicians are basing their decisions not on facts but on unmitigated Ukrainian propaganda. If their ‘decisions’ weren’t affecting all our lives then we might just shrug and walk on. However, we are all paying for the wilful blindness of those politicians, with rising inflation and the prospect of a miserable winter where people won’t be able to afford to keep warm.

That’s also the reason why our government is giving away even more of our weapons because they believe Ukrainian propaganda. This is made worse by western MSM whose editors, toeing the government line, don’t touch Russian sites with a bargepole, not even in order to try and find some balance.

Are they really not aware of the huge losses in people and material which the Russian Ministry of Defence publishes daily, e.g. here? Shouldn’t investigative reporters worth their salt at least try and refute those lists with ‘facts’ , critically looking at those claims rather than take the Ukraine Propaganda production as holy gospel?

I’m tired of having to point out the inanity of reports regurgitating Ukrainian propaganda even though the internet is full of reports contradicting them. Worse – our wonderful editors also overlook significant developments reported in the USA.

Yesterday, Larry Johnson wrote bluntly in his blog: “Told you so. The U.S. and NATO have been lying about what is actually taking place on the ground in Ukraine.” (link). He is looking at US media trying to wriggle back out of this mess. Read the whole thing – it’s very instructive. Shouldn’t a proper journalist at the very least be aware of those US reports which can clearly not be Russian propaganda?

Then there are the numerous war porn videos littering the social media. If they’re coming from Ukrainian ‘sources’ they are of course the plain and simple truth because soldiers in combat and under artillery fire have nothing better to do than making a quick TikTok video.

Sadly, the providers of such material have been found out. Even more sadly, Brits are implicated in producing Ukrainian war porn. Here’s a must-watch video by the brilliant iEarlGrey on this issue. He doesn’t take Russian statements for gospel but asks if there are other sources supporting those claims. Watch the whole thing – it’s well worth it. Why can he do this but not our esteemed MSM hacks? Are they frit of damaging ‘Teh Narrative’?

While our MSM regurgitate ‘the war party line’, more and more of us are using other sources of information, for example those which are ‘forbidden’, like Russian news outlets. Even more watch the videos of utubers who seem to have a better grip on events, from the economy to ‘war news’. Yes, these authors have their own special interests – we know that. However, they use material which is available to all of us if we had the time to do the research ourselves.

It’s a pity that the MSM ‘opinion formers’ are not even able to give us their own opinions but adhere strictly to the official spin. I wonder if these writers and the Westminster ‘opinion forming sources’ are aware that fewer and fewer people read their pieces, that more and more people simply look at their articles to have a good laugh.

Thus I leave you with a ‘report’ which ought to elicit hollow laughter from our female readers. This article in The Times demonstrates nicely how green crappery is trumping women’s ‘right of choice’ even as they cloak the ‘advice’ with a woman’s right to choose:

“Gas and air in labour ‘harms the planet’ – Pregnant women wishing to make an environmentally friendly choice for pain control in labour should pick an epidural over gas and air, anaesthetists have said.” (link, paywalled)

Can we next expect anaesthetists telling us that ‘gas and air’ for pain control for operations should be cancelled, to save the planet? Why not abandon invasive medical procedures altogether and just let people die – to save the planet?

Green propaganda, war propaganda, health propaganda: when will the MSM reach peak ludicrousness?
