We took freedom for granted.  There seemed to be no reason to fear because, for the most part, nothing has seriously threatened our way of life for more than a generation.  No warfare has actually reached our shores; we have weathered the ups and downs of the economy and the attempts of politicians to bring financial calamity down upon us.  We accepted the ‘peace and plenty’.  Consumerism abounded and all seemed well. We left the politicians and the ‘Sir Humphreys’ to get on with the job of governing in our names. In hindsight, a big mistake. Not even the swelling tide of immigration caused more than a faint ruffling of feathers amongst those who dwelt in the largely calmer waters of the shires.

We felt more angst about the effects of the EU, growing ever more rapacious with its insidious diktats and power grabs than the, more damaging, concept of the loss of freedoms that were steadily being targeted by those with neither conscience nor patriotism.  But even when the EU became insistent on ‘ever closer Union’ and Gordon Brown signed the Lisbon Treaty, it failed to alert many of us fully to the fact that the more imperial the EU became, the more our freedom was threatened.  For centuries the concept of Magna Carta had been held up as the watchword of the British Constitution. Few would be able to quote ‘chapter and verse’ but almost all Britons would be aware of the concepts contained therein, granting our right to freedom and Nationhood under the law.  

Perhaps the 2016 referendum was the catalyst that forced the ‘EU-centric imperialists’ to realise that their long-held vision of a supine and obedient population across a whole continent (and ultimately the World) was in danger of being overthrown by an insolent rabble of British upstarts.  The shockwave that probably reverberated inside the EU inner sanctum nerve centre must have been apocalyptic!

Thus began the next four years of ‘damage limitation’ strategies.  At all costs the British must not be allowed an easy exit.  That same conclusion, emanating from within the EU corridors of power, was also reached by those ‘Remainer’ politicians within the UK whose whole careers had been shaped and nurtured by the EU and the irresistible lure of its gravy train for the chosen and favoured seeking ultimate power.  The British dream of freedom must be stopped.  Before it could infect other elements of the empire-in-waiting, the UK must be brought to its knees.  That conclusion was fully supported by the ‘home-grown’ imperialists whose dreams of everlasting largesse and future influence were rapidly evaporating.

Despite constant and unremitting pressure by the ‘remain’ camp, to recant and see the error of their ways, the British People were adamant.  Leaving the EU and regaining our right to be a free trading Nation again became ever more deeply embedded in the British psyche.

Then, when all seemed to be lost for both the EU and its British political adherents, there came a gift …. COVID-19.  An initially insignificant seeming virus emanating from within the borders of the Chinese Communist empire became the ultimate tool of the despotically inclined British political establishment. 

Within 12 months a psychological war had been waged upon the populace.  A willing and complicit media conveyed the concept that here was a killer virus (on the scale of the Black Death!) waiting to consume all who refused to bow down to authority and ‘follow the rules’. So successful was this psychological onslaught that –  notwithstanding the questionable reputation of Neil Ferguson and his often discredited previous modelling – a very large part of the population was taken in and willingly accepted the sentence of ‘house arrest’ and segregation from other human beings, absolutely on trust!

Another manifestation of the consequences of this psychological ‘conditioning’ has been the division of the Nation into ‘terrified, unquestioning believers’ and ‘questioning sceptics’. Families and communities have split into the two different camps.  The consequences to social cohesion will be felt for many years to come.

Those who questioned the ‘science’ (from such a small and select band of government appointees as to be derisory in its narrowness of thought and process) and the ‘rules’ were silenced, ignored, and effaced.  Peaceful protests were banned and that ban was ruthlessly enforced by an increasingly brutalised Police Force.  That same Police force that had ‘taken the knee’ and turned a blind eye to the much more violent demonstrations by BLM and XR!  

Who could ever have imagined that the personal freedom restrictions and the travel bans that were commonplace in the Communist regime of the USSR would ever have been possible, in the once free and libertarian, United Kingdom. That same UK that had held its democracy and freedoms up as an example to the World!

A ‘so-called’ vaccine was rushed out and given emergency authorisation.  A promise was made that, as soon as the ‘most vulnerable’ were given the ‘vaccine’ our freedoms would be restored.  Empty promises from a thoroughly perfidious government.  It is obvious that freedom as we once knew it will never again exist in Britain under the current regime.  It is doubtful whether those freedoms would ever be restored were any of the other ‘one-party-state-thinking’ political groups ever to be handed the levers of power in Britain.  

Now it has become apparent that the so-called ‘vaccines’ are probably not the panacea that was claimed.  More and more people are realising that they have fallen foul of one of the most heinous and widespread scams ever perpetrated.  A scam so damaging that it has probability destroyed the health and well being of the whole Nation for many years to come.  How to extricate ourselves from this most damaging situation has yet to be discovered.

Meanwhile, the incessant invasion march of so-called migrants ‘fleeing war-torn Europe’ via the seas primarily on our southern coast continues apace and unchecked.  Yet another manifestation of the duplicitous government that Britain is enduring under the current one-party-state system that offers no checks and balances to the oppressive atrocity that living in Britain has become today!

 

Oh how did our proud lawful Nation

Become so degraded and weak 

Why did we allow those who govern

To make us so fearful to speak

Throw off this yoke of enslavement

Recover our freedom and voice

Take back our Country and culture

For in truth there is no other choice.     April 2018
