Yes, it’s a squirrel!

 

When I looked at the news this morning I couldn’t help but ask myself: what are TPTB trying to hide from us? Why has the fate of the submersible and its inmates dominated the front pages? Here’s the daily compilation by BBC staff: “Newspaper headlines: ‘Titanic claims five more’ and ‘recession fears’” (link). Delving into the MSM mess I found my answer: it’s another squirrel we’re meant to look at!

Firstly though, there’s the information that, just hours after the world was told that the people in the submersible must have died because the oxygen on board had run out, the first reports turned up:

“Top secret US Navy sonar detected Titan sub implosion HOURS after submersible lost contact with mothership – sparking questions as to why a multi-million dollar international rescue effort was launched” (link)

That is a good question: why was this rescue effort launched when clearly any navy officer must have known that this meant instant death! Here’s the DM summary:

“The U.S. Navy began listening for noise of the missing submersible as soon as it was reported missing Sunday morning – A senior official told The Wall Street Journal that they heard the sound of a suspected implosion at the time it was lost, but rescue efforts continued” (link)

Also, earlier this morning there’s a brief report by the BBC (link). It seems that higher-ups in the US Navy are already trying to justify their rescue efforts. The first critical reports about yon submersible have already surfaced. You might like to watch Paul Joseph Watson’s video published yesterday evening. All that begs the question: why did we have wall-to-wall coverage in our esteemed MSM? Was it piety? 

Perhaps some real news were deemed to be too unpalatable for our tender minds. Perhaps TPTB are unsure if they ought to go with the ‘mortgage crisis’ or the ‘inflation crisis’. Perhaps yon war in the Ukraine isn’t producing the desired success for Mr Z. but we cannot be told because that might lead to inconvenient questions.

Or perhaps it’s about NATO and about replacing the current SecGen, Mr Stoltenberg who was meant to retire a year ago but remained because of yon war? There’s a breathlessly furious report in the DT, headlined “Britain’s fury with US as Joe Biden ‘blocks’ Ben Wallace for Nato chief” (paywalled link). Mind you, I doubt very much that it was Biden who did this – I’m pretty sure that he doesn’t remember who Mr Wallace is. Still, ‘sources’ here have been busy:

“Joe Biden has done Britain a “bad turn” by blocking Ben Wallace’s run for Nato chief, government sources have said. The Defence Secretary had been the favourite with many member states to succeed Jens Stoltenberg, the current secretary-general, later this year. But Mr Wallace admitted on Wednesday that his ambition to take over the reins, which he had repeatedly expressed in public, is now “not going to happen”.” (paywalled link)

Did Mr Biden whine to his handlers that he wanted our erstwhile PM? Or did Biden’s handlers decide that they’d rather have someone more easily cowed than this UK Defence Minister? Someone who would dance to the pipes of the US MIC ? It seems there were other members who were aiming for ‘more diversity’. This is too funny:

“A government source said: […] “They’ve done the UK a bad turn with their preference for this Danish lady.” The US president is said to have initially favoured Mette Frederiksen, the socialist prime minister of Denmark, who is being backed by France and Germany. But one source said he cooled on her after she failed to impress him during a visit to Washington earlier this month.” (paywalled link)

Is that why we peasants needed to be diverted by a nice fat squirrel? Anyway, they seem to think, why not continue with the old set-up:

“It now seems likely that Mr Stoltenberg, the former Norwegian premier, will be asked to defer his retirement, originally set for later this year, by 12 months.” (paywalled link)

And why not! He’s been brilliant at keeping yon war going, even unto declaring to enlarge the NATO ‘first response force to 300,000. Apparently, our NATO allies France and Germany persuaded Biden to postpone a decision and keep Stoltenberg going, pulling the Brexit card:

“The Defence Secretary had backing in Eastern European countries, which appreciated Britain’s support over Russian aggression, but was spurned by Paris and Berlin. Their view is that, if it’s a European, it has to be someone in the EU so it doesn’t fall foul of the Brexit arguments and EU’s growing role in security,” said one source. “It’s not just France but many nations. EU leaders, foreign ministers and defence ministers meet very regularly so not to be part of that, they believe, would be suboptimal.” (paywalled link)

Interesting: Brexit is being blamed for Mr Wallace not becoming the new NATO SecGen. It’s of course not about EU ‘leaders’ being incapable of agreeing on a Stoltenberg replacement which also ‘pleases’ Mr Biden. And then, right at the end, there’s this:

“A senior European diplomat said that the move [to keep Stoltenberg] had broad support, given the desire to avoid a public spat between allies when “there’s no consensus candidate”. Many allies want to appoint a woman to the top Nato job for the first time and believe that such a senior role should only go to a former head of government. Kaja Kallas, the current Estonian prime minister, is favoured by some but is opposed by Paris and Berlin, who see her as too hawkish towards Russia.” (paywalled link)

Blimey – and here I thought ‘hawkishness towards Russia’ would have been a prerequisite for this job! Are there perhaps some less ‘hawkish’ military and political people in the background who recognise that ‘hawkishness’ might lead to a nuclear war? We do live in interesting times …
