Get used to having your day ruined by seeing his face!

 

Times are already rather dire but they will get worse under Labour and Starmer. This is not me having a morning moan after scanning the papers, there’s proof. More on that below. Firstly, the general ‘news’: “Newspaper headlines: ‘AI told me to kill Queen’ and ‘7% rates forecast’” (link). This compilation is to be treasured: the Star is in second place in this compilation, not at the bottom as per usual. Did ‘staff’ want us to have a morning giggle?

I leave it to you to decide if this ‘excuse’ is valid. I wonder when the first politician will demand ‘legal restrictions’ on AI use, just as they condemn certain video games after mass shootings or riots as Macron has already done. As for criminals trying to exculpate themselves by saying ‘AI made me do it’: I do wonder if the listened to their AI app – or did they actually read it?

And so to the ongoing proposals to dismantle our country – past, present and future. Two days ago the Daily Sceptic published a remarkable article, titled “Labour’s ‘New Britain’ Constitution Will End Parliamentary Democracy” (link). If you missed it, do go and read it. The following should be kept on file for the election battle (all emphases are mine):

“The proposals of Keir Starmer’s ‘A New Britain‘ constitution, written up by Gordon Brown, are designed to destroy Parliament forever – and by extension anything approaching popular sovereignty in Britain. These are: the subordination of Parliament to the judiciary; universal English devolution; the reorganisation of Britain as a multi-national state; and the enshrining of the current social order as a constitution.” (link)

Generally I don’t refer to or quote from Alt Media because I know you read them all already but this article provides the perfect background to Cur Starmer’s latest foray into making Labour look like a cuddly sheep, hiding the rapacious wolf underneath. It is of course about ‘education’, Labour-style, cloaked with the usual proposal of making things better for ‘our’ children. The headline already says it all: 

“Sir Keir Starmer wants speaking lessons for all pupils – State school children lose out to privately educated, says Labour leader as he promises language skills at heart of national curriculum” (link, paywalled)

See – he’s found yet another reason to bash private schools, that’s not news. However, this acknowledgement is interesting, not least because inevitably ‘experts’ are quoted:

“In an article for The Times the Labour leader says that the “almost exclusive” focus on reading and writing at present is “short-sighted” as he calls for oracy to be given priority at every level of a child’s education. The ability to articulate ideas is key to “getting on and thriving in life”, Starmer says, arguing that children with poor language skills at the age of five are six times less likely to reach the expected standard of English at 11. Experts say that poor oracy leaves children unable to learn as they cannot acquire the vocabulary to understand the curriculum or answer simple questions.” (link, paywalled)

Now what could possibly be the reason for children aged five and six being unable ‘to acquire the vocabulary needed’? Is it really because their parents aren’t posh? Or is it because their parents haven’t learned English properly because they were taught at school that grammar is oppressive, that it’s fine to write as they speak, that their slang is ‘authentic’ and thus beyond reproach? Then there’s this:

“Children are routinely taught a range of oracy skills in private schools, but Starmer is concerned that those in state schools are being left behind and face increased barriers in life. The ability to speak clearly and make cogent arguments, he says, “opens up a lifetime of empowerment”.” (link, paywalled)

How it is ‘empowering’ to spout nonsense because one has ‘learned’ to speak clearly – no idea!  If teaching ‘oracy’ becomes more important than teaching how to read and write plain English, how are those ‘oracy-enabled’ kids going to learn and study? Well, “we” do have AI now and all manners of apps, making reading and writing obsolete:

“The rapid growth in artificial intelligence means oracy is even more important, according to education leaders. Some private schools are moving away from setting essays over fears that artificial intelligence can be used to cheat and using oral assessments instead.” (link, paywalled)

If posh private schools don’t set essays any longer then clearly Starmer’s state schools must follow! Let out kids be taught how to ‘speak clearly’ to apps converting speech to writing – no need to learn those hard ‘arts’ themselves. After all, ‘boko haram’, innit loike! Finally, let this sink in:

“Yes, it’s in part about good public speaking and debating skills, but in reality, it is about so much more,” Starmer writes. “Above all else it’s about finding your voice. To work out who you are and what you believe. If read-ing opens up a world of imagination and possibility, then speaking and listening opens up a lifetime of empowerment — a chance for those who too often feel invisible in their own country to be heard. It is about the confidence to speak out, to call out injustice or harm.” (link, paywalled)

Does he mean ‘speaking out’ like those eco-zealots do, or how easily and in which ways the ‘invisible’ made themselves heard in France. I doubt they all had lessons in oracy, never mind in plain French. Perhaps Starmer thinks MPs and mandarins will ‘listen’ to oratorically enhanced voice mails …

Someone ought to tell him that this proposal isn’t ’empowering the downtrodden’ but will create a new class of oppressors: those who can still read all those legal texts, for example, and who can write them. Starmer must have cancelled History when he was in school because otherwise he would have known that reading the printed Bible empowered the actual, medieval peasants. 

I suggest that Starmer and his experts have come up with this proposal because they’ve suffered so much from the tongue-lashings provided by JRM and perhaps because, as lawyer, Starmer was oratorically overwhelmed by a former Attorney General, he of the booming, mellifluous voice. 

It is regrettable that ‘experts’ in education are paving Labour’s and the Lefties’ way to dumb down our children even further. Instead of ‘oracy’ they ought to emphasise teaching and learning the language of this country, to ‘empower’ children to read and find out for themselves even such mundane, prosaic items as the latest government ‘guidance’. Let’s not mention literature and history – those have objectively already been cancelled in schools.

That’s all I have for today. I expect the next iteration of AI to be spoken, using the likes of ‘Siri’ and ‘Alexa’ as vehicles. ‘Brave New World’ and all that … but that’s a ‘boko’ and therefore ‘haram’. Have a good day.
