A secret image of Westminster MSM’s News editors …

It looks as if the ‘Silly Season’ couldn’t become more sillier, given the ‘news’ our ever so glorious MSM present to the Nation this morning. Those ‘news’, picked by the august ‘news editors’ to fill their pages might, if I’m generous, indicate that some at least are having a larf. To think they might be serious is actually quite troubling.

First, a quick look at the collection of front pages on offer to those who still buy their printed papers: “Newspaper headlines: ‘Mickey Mouse vs Home Office’ and ‘time to talk up Brexit’.” (link). Did Auntie Beeb’s ‘staff’ responsible for creating that headline have a secret giggle? After all, only iNews fulminated against the horrid HO, stomping on gentle ‘poor refugees’ trying to be creative … Labour would of course have instituted Art Courses for said ‘refugees’, to enhance their creativity, paid for by us.

Meanwhile, there’s a report in The Times, regarding  Blair’s aides teaching Starmer’s lot how to ‘run No 10’. What could possibly go wrong with such ‘teachers’:

“Labour staff have had lessons with Blair-era veterans in how to be effective special advisers as the party steps up its preparations for government. Political advisers were told “don’t be a knob” in a 90-minute session this week that warned them not to model themselves on Malcolm Tucker, the foul-mouthed spin doctor from The Thick of It, if they wanted to get the best from the government machine.” (link, paywalled)

It has come to this: people need to be told that a TV series isn’t ‘reality’. And these are the people to whom we entrust the running of our country? I think that the Whitehall Mandarins will run rings around them.

Then there’s a hair-raising report on ‘guidance‘ from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) of which Starmer was director in ye olden days (all emphases are mine):

The CPS has listed nine types of behaviour which could amount to abuse of trans or non-binary people by their partners or members of their family. These include “withholding money for transitioning,” which would include either spouse refusing to pay for gender surgery, counselling or other treatment in a way that amounted to coercive control or abuse. Other behaviours could be “criticising the victim for not being ‘a real man/woman’ if they have not undergone reassignment surgery,” or “threatening or sharing pre-transition images,” or refusing to use their preferred name or pronoun.” (paywalled link)

At this point I stopped reading: using the ‘wrong pronoun’ in a family setting is now worthy of court cases … words simply fail me. However, if you, like me, were thinking ‘God help us’ when reading how and on what our institutions are wasting time – stop it! The ArchBish of York has told his flock that

“Calling God “our Father” is “problematic”, the Archbishop of York has said. The Most Rev Stephen Cottrell said the phrase is “problematic” for victims of abuse as well as people who have suffered under “oppressive patriarchy”.” (paywalled link)

It is such an ‘important’ issue for our secular society that the DM has also sacrificed pixels on this ‘news’ (link) as has The Times where I found a quote from a priestess, a campaigner for female bishops. Here it is – why should I be the only one suffering from acute nausea reading this:

[The (female) Reverend] added: “There are multiple layers why the term ‘father’ is really difficult for people in the church. It’s the way it’s been set for so long and so we’re stuck. Because Jesus called God ‘daddy’, we think we have to call God ‘daddy’. And the big question is, do we really believe God believes that male human beings bear the image of God more fully and accurately than women? The answer is absolutely not.” (link, paywalled)

The terminology of this ideological swamp dweller is breathtaking. I’m not aware that, anywhere in Scripture, Jesus was calling God ‘daddy’. Moreover, how ‘awesome’ is it that this lady knows what and what not God believes? Never mind that the likes of her and indeed all priests and vicars have studied – or ought to have done so – how to explain ‘difficult’ terms to us sheepish lay persons …

I leave you with “BBC News”. One report quotes the ‘former’ BBC Chair Mr Sharp – he who had to resign because of money shenanigans involving the erstwhile PM, BJ. As the government is considering the fate of the telly tax, his proposal is sure to be welcomed by Labour:

Wealthier households should have to pay more for the BBC, Richard Sharp has suggested […]. Mr Sharp said the licence fee could be replaced by a tax on broadband bills or a household levy based on the value of the property as the current system of a flat fee is “regressive”.” (paywalled link)

Yes, dear friends – it’s terrible that ‘households on low incomes’ paid the same fee for this service as ‘Teh Rich’! Unsurprisingly, “Lucy Powell, the shadow culture secretary, suggested earlier this year that a Labour government would consider means-testing the fee.” (paywalled link)>

Could it be more obvious that the BBC is ‘State Telly’, the government’s propaganda ministry, when ‘seers’ like yon Labour lady and yon Tory think out loud about ‘moar tax’ or means-testing said telly tax?

And finally: one eejit actually lost his complaint against the BBC, or rather against one of their employees. The Times dedicated a report on this case. You can also read about it in the DM (link). In a nutshell:

“An Irish radio presenter who posted a comment in Gaelic on social media sued the BBC after a colleague responded by calling him a leprechaun. […] He told an employment tribunal in central London that he had posted a photograph of an Irish landscape alongside a traditional saying which was written in Gaelic. His colleague was said to have quipped: “Is that the call of a leprechaun?” (link, paywalled)

Well, I’m clearly racist because I think that quip is very funny, but then I’m an old, cynical lady who thinks people ought to get a grip, especially those employed in the meejah.

That’s all I have for today – and it’s quite sufficient to make one lose even the remaining vestiges of faith one has had in the ‘wisdom’ of our institutions and media. Have a lovely weekend.
