Why did Boris Johnson want to be Prime Minister?  I am puzzled to understand why he should have wanted the job at all!  He recently told us all that he cannot live on the Prime Ministerial pay.  He was quite open about that fact.  Why, feeling as he did, did he not resign at that point and pursue another path – either back to his journalism or take to the road as a travelling political lecturer.  After all, other previous ‘has-been’ PMs have made a very healthy fortune out of their time spent in the ‘corridors of power’.

We all chose to ignore the warning signs from Boris’s statement.  Perhaps we believed, naively, that he was being altruistic – staying in post to ‘do the right thing’ by the Country.  But did his stance as ‘benign papa’ caring only for the welfare of his children, mask a much darker global intent that has been long in the planning?  That is the question that has been much on many people’s minds during the last agonising months of almost continuous lockdown.

The British people have been inculcated into the belief that they could trust their Parliament to act in their best interests.  However, over time, the people have been hypnotised by the lure of ‘good-times’ consumerism; low unemployment and a ready supply of ‘bread and circuses’ entertainments.  They were blinded to the stealthy way in which the old checks and balances of government were being systematically eroded.  Fixed term parliaments.  An Upper House stuffed with ‘cronies’ who, rather than holding government administrations to account, became supine, greedy accomplices to ‘The Commons’ iniquities.  Unelected hangers-on who now seem to have carte-blanche to worm their way into positions of influence in public life to which they have no right.  

Neil Ferguson has told us exactly what method has been used to debase the Mother of Parliaments, thus bringing the once democratic process to ruin and decay: ”We didn’t think we could get away with it. Then we realised, we could!”

Over the last few decades the malevolent influence of the EU has seeped into every corner of established governance in Britain.  It has resulted in the degrading of every moral principle. The  system of checks and balances, that once ensured that this Country would retain its freedom, has been overthrown.  Our Parliamentarians have been willing participants in this treachery.  They have sold the birthright of their Country and its people for the ‘mess of pottage’ that is the present corrupted system of governance that rewards its venal proponents with status, power and money.

Fixed Term Parliaments and a decline into ‘one party statism’ have meant that there is no effective, or honest Opposition.  Governments are no longer challenged, robustly by Opposition or Peers.  The fear of being thrown out of office is almost a thing of the past.  Resignation for malfeasance or misdemeanour is a rarity!

Treason used to carry a heavy penalty.  Blair had the treason laws altered (deliberately?) to circumvent the consequences of being found guilty of betraying one’s Country.  

The Judiciary has become so ‘left-leaning’ that the Scales of Justice now tip firmly in favour of the perpetrator rather than the victim.  There is plenty of public money available to entice unscrupulous lawyers to fight for the rights of those who would harm our society.  Those rich pickings have skewed British Justice out of all recognition.  There is no automatic recourse or legal aid for honourable citizens to assist them in their quest for justice.  

From the often unjust and draconian system of ‘justice’ prevailing in Dickens’s day – when one could be transported for stealing a crust of bread – the pendulum has swung to the absolute opposite of the end of the spectrum.  At this point, the malefactor is ‘rewarded’ for his crime and the victim is punished!

It is time to change the system.  It has long been the custom for Eton/Oxbridge/private means politicians to dominate the upper echelons of Parliament.  Their belief in their ‘divine right to rule’  has been to the long term detriment of democracy.

The system of selection of candidates from among those willing to ‘serve the party’ rather than Country has reached its nadir.  The cost of contesting a Parliamentary seat makes it almost impossible for the ordinary person to consider standing for election. ‘Ordinary’ persons who actually have experience of life outside the realm of the rarefied atmosphere of the political scene have little chance of being selected by parties!  Yet these are the very people needed to break the cycle of the PPE, university degree current incumbents who have been parachuted into the lucrative and corrupted trough of our parliamentary system.

The Civil Service circumlocution office is no less corrupt than the current system of ‘party politics’.  It is a self perpetuating organisation that has set itself up to ensure that it will survive despite anything that politicians do to try and change the way it operates.  

Academia; the lobbyists for big business and financiers all have their fingers in the political pie for their own gains.

Meanwhile, the interests of the people who pay their taxes and expect to have their ‘investment’ used wisely for the good of the Country as a whole, end up at the bottom of the pile.  Taxpayers fund this heap of ‘stinking corruption’.  It is time we had more say in the way we select and monitor those who govern; those elected ones who should be putting our interests first. 

We are being manipulated by a government led by a Prime Minister who may or may not be being led by ‘others’ who have malign intentions that will change all our lives for the worse forever.  Some people are beginning to realise this and are trying to alert as many others as possible.  But…..will it be too late?
