I’d been looking forward to this march since the last one. Every news item, every new announcement from the government making me more determined to fight against them. And I had a feeling there would be even more people there than before. The tide is turning, more people are waking up and most have just had enough.
And sure enough Hyde Park was rammed with people ready to march. A heady mix of music, loud voices, smoke flares, horns, drums and tambourines told me exactly where the meeting place was.
There was a crush leaving the park as there were so many of us – it’s like the tube used to be! I told the man I was squeezed next to. And then we were off into the road heading for Oxford Street. Banners, flags, posters all flying high. Their messages were ever more angry and clear as to how we are all feeling. There were so many of us, the crowd moved slower than usual. I counted we were at least 15 people wide as well as stretching as far as the eye could see in front and behind – a beautiful sight. I always like to stop at Trafalgar Square and look down the hill at all the people snaking along.
I remember on one freedom march looking through a gap in oxford street and seeing thousands of specks of people way ahead of us below blocking the traffic as they walked. An amazing view.
One woman had a mask stuck on her forehead with the words I’M DONE” written on it. I couldn’t have put it better myself. The whole Matt Hancock debacle this week has really finished it for me and I think for many others. How do we get rid of this government? How do we end this nightmare? Why isn’t Matt Hancock in stocks in the street? Why couldn’t we see our families and friends while he ignored his own rules?
People sang, chanted, shouted, played music – there were blokes with speakers on a small trap led by a bicycle borrowed from the Hare Krishnas playing 70s music to keep us upbeat – music certainly helped us keep going as tiredness set in. Some sat or stood by the road to watch the crowds go by. I met random friends along the way but soon lost them in the crowd. Never mind – I felt at one with every person marching.
Suddenly there was a scrum to greet David Icke, then David Scott from UK Column.Julia Hartley Brewer was with us and of course many other well known faces. I knew Piers Corbyn and David Kurten would be in the crowd with us as always.
We stopped to rage at Downing Street and at Chris Whitty’s house. The crowd sang and chanted and threw tennis balls with messages. But I saw no violence – not one incident. And I noticed that this time the police were low profile – they know we are mostly peaceful and they have no chance of controlling us anyway. The media may ignore us but the police know our numbers are huge.
The crowd was a mix of mostly ordinary people concerned about jobs, the vaccine, lockdowns, vaccine passports and government hypocrisy, interspersed with a few other issues people decided to bring into our domain. The banners portrayed anger but mostly with humour. .
It was a good day for freedom – a light in a sea of bleakness – some may have enjoyed sitting at home on furlough but I believe even they must surely be worried about what is really going on and the new agenda.
We faced a few hiccups getting caught in the middle of traffic and roadworks at Piccadilly but we made the round trip back to Hyde Park. What has certainly changed is that now when we pass cars that are in a jam because of us many of the occupants are smiling and in support of us.
The tide is turning. More and more are saying enough! and joining us in our marching. There are small protests every day in London now.
JOIN US NEXT TIME – WE NEED YOU!
Let’s say no to the new normal and get our lives back!

Great article thank you Janice. I wish I could be at one of these marches too but it cheers me up no end to see so many people rebelling.
Thank you Janice North. Both, for being there and writing about it. I’m sure there are many more people like me, that would join in these demonstration if they could.
Great article by the way Janice!
But I can see that tonight the Sun has bowed to the diktat from its ‘main subscriber’ to put out the ‘news’ that there has been a 70% increase in COVID cases this week with the largest case number recorded in a day since January!!!!!!! What the F£££ is that all about? If they are vaccinating so many millions of us – not me I hasten to add!! – what is causing all these new cases? Over 22000 they trumpet on the headline! I wont bother to read the article…..the headline popping up in my notifications box is enough to have my blood pressure up on the roof again!
They are softening us up for ‘moar’ lockdown sure as eggs are eggs. We must not let this happen! Will no-one rid us of this ‘troublesome’ government????? (Just me paraphrasing Henry II).
So good to see so many rising up against the new authoritarian assumptions of an administration intoxicated and literally as per Hancock turned on by its new powers it never wants to lose – Interesting and inspiring that in the US states like Florida and Texas are outlawing any sort of vaccine passport and have returned to complete normal much to the chagrin of Biden’s socialist Whitehouse – There will be retribution for the pointless ordeal politicians have so enjoyed administering – The G7 so illustrated the ‘Animal Farm’ the Elite enjoyed having frolicking fun while their Mask Mandated servants served the Lobster – Lets hope the cock up of the pointless Masks and Lockdowns is not reflected in the medium and long term effects of the experimental Vax of an entire nation for a disease where most have to be tested to know they have even got it.
March of the idiots!
The Downing Street resident clown said today ‘the signs are good for the 19th July re-opening and that they will unlock as far as we can. The most important words in what he said were ‘as far as we can’ which may mean opening up gyms and nothing much else, so no doubt the face masks will continue to be written in law to be worn inside places in addition to social distancing etc. At the end of the day our civil liberties and freedoms are not his property to give back at his whim, and talking as if he is doing us a big favour. The clown who has no backbone and frightened of making a decision like whether or not to dismiss Hancock who so blatantly broke the rules that both he and him put into law without so much as a debate in parliament, needs to resign himself. We are in need of real leadership in this country and we’re not getting it.
Excellent report Janice thank you. Shame we don’t have big demos being organised in all major cities.
You’ll like this two minute rant by Katie Hopkins about Angela Merkel; hits the nail on the head I’d say.
“Katie Hopkins: Angela Merkel banning Brits from EU. Alright for her to fly to G7 Though?”

Ever since the England football supporters were told not to sing Ten German Bombers during the match against Germany I can’t get the tune out of my mind. It goes beautifully with my mare’s hoofbeats as we clip clop round the country lanes on our morning hack.
Katie on Handycock and his ‘chipolata sausage’ is even better! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1lrz0uNvfk
Great to see you back as an author Janice
