Parliament has NOT been prorogued, the Supreme Court has adjudicated.
The chairman of the court, Baroness Hale, has just announced that prorogation was void and had no effect. The Speaker of the Houses of Commons and Lords will now decide what to do next, and they can take immediate steps to ensure that both houses meet as soon as possible.
Lady Hale said that the decision to advise Her Majesty the Queen to prorogue was unlawful as it had the effect of frustrating or preventing Parliament carrying out its functions.
Wearing a huge diamond spider on her shoulder, Lady Hale said the decision of the 11-strong panel of justices was unanimous.
Would those of you who may still have an ounce of faith in our ‘legal system’ explain why Robin TILBROOK of English Democrats has been utterly frustrated in appealing the judgment of ONE clearly Remain Judge, at every turn, when the likes of Gina Miller has her way cleared to obtain an appeal to the Supreme Court (a misnoma if ever there was one) as if by a military land-mine squad? Yes, we certainly are living through strange times.
Our judicial system is completely infested with pro EU Quislings and completely corrupt.
If it was ”unlawful” perhaps they should have explained what ”law” was broken.
Yes. Can someone please explain what specific law has been broken.
From Black’s Legal Dictionary.
.
“What is UNLAWFUL?
That which is contrary to law. “Unlawful” and “illegal” are frequently used as synonymous terms, but, in the proper sense of the word, “unlawful,” as applied to promises, agreements, considerations, and the like, denotes that they are ineffectual in law because they involve acts which, although not illegal, i. e., positively forbidden, are disapproved of by the law, and are therefore not recognized as the ground of legal rights, either because they are immoral or because they are against public policy. “
Any lay person who has ever had the misfortune to rely on ‘British Justice’ will be well aware that the entire charade is a money-making exercise for first-class liers and deceivers – God knows why they even sat for the pantomime to take place. The reason for this ‘theatre’ is simply to do with the abandonment of Brexit. When will we see a court case brought by the Leavers to demand that the Referendum is adhered to?
Will we have a unanimous decision in THAT case? Sheer unadulterated corruption by experts in corruption, the judiciary. God help us!
Are you sure that was a diamond encrusted spider on Ms Hales shoulder and not a diamond encrusted turtle with the motto “When I strike, I strike hard” (Fabian Society).
Or, was it a can of worms?
Jake! No…..more likely a Scorpion!
it was the bilderberg badge the others were doing the hand sign
The huge diamond spider on Lady Hales shoulder reminded me of SPECTRE.
Ridiculous decision. Tories fault for not repealing all legislation and quangos created since 1997 including this Blairite ECJ wannabe. Mainly because they WERE Bliarites themselves by 2010.
New BXP policy : scrap the “supreme” court as well as the BBC licence.
So, proroguing parliament, which was lawful for hundreds of years has suddenly become unlawful? How have we sunk so low? This is a leftists’ stitch up.
Peter Hitchens wrote – “Actually, there is no such thing as the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. They can call it that if they like, but the title is a fiction. There is nothing supreme about it.
Until we leave the EU, our actual Supreme Court is, as it has been for many years, the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. But if we ever manage to escape from the EU, then Parliament is a far higher court than this self-important assembly of lawyers in suits.”
I wonder who will now make the next move in this exceedingly long pantomime parliament?
Dame Widow Burcow I expect?
Act 2.
The government has said it will “abide by the ruling” of the Supreme Court. But the ‘baddy, Mr Johnson – is in Fairy Land for a UN climate conference, – has refused to rule out seeking to be a bad boy and prorogue Parliament for a second time if the ruling goes against him.”
“Oh no he wont.”
“Oh yes he will.”
What are the odds that Burcow will recall Parliament, recognise the assembled gnome/dwarf Remainers as the Government, and pass laws saying that Parliament no longer exists and we are to be ruled by Big Bad Brussels?
.
It really is now more of a farce than a panto. KBO.
Hello Bernard from Bucks. It’s no laughing matter is it. You put your finger on the point. “If we ever manage to escape from the EU.”
Isn’t the House of Lords the Supreme Court of the land? Well that bit of Parliament is only marginally better than the pantomime of the Commons.
I’d realised the EU was an evil octopus like creature but I did not know just how much it was determined to destroy our Constitution. All because their Empire will disintegrate without us.
Hi Pauline, all Empires eventually collapse. It’s just a matter of time. A ‘real’ Brexit by Britain, continued determination to resist in Italy and insoluble debt/liquidity/growth problems in the eurozone will eventually combine to make the European Union history. And good riddance to bad rubbish. It’s just a shame we are all having to wait so long. Don’t despair, fight on.
Well said Bernard – “this too shall pass away……” But, the sooner the better.
