More ‘natural beauty’ for the plebs – in the name of social justice!
There’s an overarching theme to the news items I’m looking at today. It’s the overt or covert disdain in which the ‘intellectuals’, the ‘elite’ which think they are the ‘rulers’, hold us, the general public. For example, it’s polling day for 800 local councils in England, but not much at all has been made of this in our glorious Westminster MSM: plebs, after all, are irrelevant.
This morning’s front pages reflect this nicely: “Newspaper headlines: ‘Ring of steel’ around King and ‘protest warning’” (link). How grateful the news editors must be for the Coronation: there’s no better page filler possible. I bet that we’ll not get much political punditry about the meaning of the election outcome: Saturday is the Coronation, Sunday we’ll get acres of ‘Coronation News’ and Monday we’ll be told about how the wimmin journalists ‘felt’ during and after that event. Every single twitch by every ‘Royal’ will be noted and interpreted.
Of course, the urban ‘elites’, the Westminster opinion makers, are busy already, telling us that actually, more and more people don’t really ‘want’ the monarchy. Prominence is being given to ‘protesters’ who cry ‘Not My King’ and reports about a ‘Ring of Steel’ safeguarding the King are presented as if this is a grave injury to free spirits. It’s strange though that such ‘Rings of Steel’ were seen as necessity when they were erected for e.g. NATO and G7 summits. After all, ‘protecting’ an American President is fine, doing the same for the King: oh the horror!
Inevitably, the grauniad came out with pre-emptive wails from the usual suspects, in addition to the ‘Ring of Steel’ horror. The Met Police will be staging:
“[…] the biggest live facial recognition operation in British history. The force said on Wednesday it intended to use the controversial technology, which scans faces and matches them against a list of people police want for alleged crimes and could identify convicted terrorists mingling in the crowds.” (link)
The police checking for terrorists? Outrageous! It doesn’t’ matter that the Met police “insisted the technology would not be used to quell lawful protest or target activists”, campaigners simply don’t believe them. Here’s one whose ‘concerns’ provide an excellent example for the hypocrisy of grauniad writers and readers (all emphases are mine):
“Emmanuelle Andrews of the campaign group Liberty said: “The fact LFR is being used at the coronation is extremely worrying. LFR is a dystopian tool and dilutes all our rights and liberties.” […] “We have already seen a huge crackdown on protest ahead of the coronation, with new measures brought in this week to further restrict the ways in which people can make their voices heard. Now it’s likely that facial recognition will be used to monitor anyone who wants to exercise their right to protest – an extremely worrying development.” (link)
I dunno why they worry: if they have nothing to hide those LFR should be of no concern, correct? It’s what they keep telling us about smartphone tracking and all. Doesn’t Antifa cover their faces anyway? And do ordinary people not have the right to enjoy the spectacle of the Coronation without being disturbed by ‘protests’
And so to the local elections and to the one report in Remain Central. The headline caught my eyes: “Independents in local elections to benefit from voter disillusion” (link, paywalled). Is this the first time that ‘voter disillusion’ has appeared on the radar of the MSM? The report is a bit of a page filler but the first paragraph is definitely noteworthy:
“Since 2018 the number of independent councillors elected in England and Wales has leapt by almost 50 per cent, from 1,588 to more than 2,300, about 200 behind the number of Liberal Democrats. It is a reflection, perhaps, of a disillusionment with traditional politics and a desire, at local level if not in national elections, to pick community champions over party representatives.” (link, paywalled)
I think the much lamented ‘voter apathy’, described disdainfully by the Uniparty and their Westminster mouth pieces as ‘laziness’, is actually due to disillusion, caused by the contempt in which those ‘ruling elites’ hold us. We’re not stupid, why would we vote when we know that nothing will change anyway?
I leave you with the latest ‘campaign’ issue for social-justice warriors. Yesterday, Remain Central presented their readers with a most dreadful finding: “Eight million households lack access to green spaces”. There’s a ‘government pledge’, as the subtitle points out:
“The government has pledged that everyone in England will be within a 15-minute walk to natural beauty — but it has yet to spell out how the goal will be measured’” (link, paywalled)
A 15-minute-walk? Seriously? At a time when other social-justice warriors demand more housing and forget ‘green belts’? This is what those campaigners actually aim for:
“The report found that being in a rural area was no guarantee of nature being accessible, because of private land and a lack of rights of way in some places. Some public spaces in the countryside can only easily be accessed by car, the authors found.” (link, paywalled)
What a surprise: ‘private land’ is an abomination! A ‘15-minute walk’ must be the norm. I wonder if these people want an ‘area of natural beauty’ inside every 15-minute city. How? We’re presented with ‘deprivation’ data (46% of deprived areas …!) aimed to shock us but with no explanation. What does ‘natural space per person’ even mean? Don’t ask – see this;
“It’s a social justice issue. The most disadvantaged and marginalised communities are most likely to be left cut off from nature,” Richard Benwell, head of the WCL, said.” (link, paywalled)
Oh the scandal, the injustice! Don’t ask those campaigners, those social-justice warriors how they propose to alleviate this ‘injustice’. Above all, don’t even think of mentioning the reports of vandalism where saplings, freshly planted in city parks, i.e. ‘nature spots’, have their little crowns broken off ‘for fun’. Let’s also not mention the tons of rubbish left in municipal parks after nice weekends where the nature-hungry urban masses go and have ‘wild’ barbies …
That’s all I have for today. Go and vote if your council is up for ‘renewal’. It’s the local councils which implement the Net Zero policies, from moar cycle paths to 15-minute ‘cities’, and never mind the inconvenience and downright burden for the despised local citizens. Have a good day.
What a wet blanket Nigel Farage has become. This evening on his GB News programme he announced that he thought it a good idea for King Charles to embrace the idea that his coronation on Saturday should be a multi-faith ceremony. So in other words forget the fact that this country is a Christian country, and has been for well over a thousand years. I am not religious at all, but what he said was utter cobblers. What other traditions does he think should now be reigned in so that this country can pander to minorities. However a chap he was interviewing with regard to this who was of Indian heritage did not agree with his stance and intimated that it was act of vandalism. And Farage’ reply was ‘interesting, interesting’. In fact he has sold out and been shown up for the fool that he has become. I don’t know I really don’t.
Roger Turner, regarding your diatribe last night, you have every right to be angry at the absolute garbage that constitutes healthcare and government interference. My only surprise is that they were not referring to gender issues as that is the most insane and dangerous propaganda at the moment. Or maybe they were!
Indeed Lisa. What makes me really angry is the ongoing support of the WEF, WHO and UN by government using our money. We need an updated Treason and Sedition act with retrospective powers to deal with the likes of Sunak, Bojo and all other PMs who have supported those organisations. Only one penalty is necessary; that which makes absolutely sure that they cannot repeat their crimes against us and our country.
Freedom to protest! Just wear a “letterbox “.
I didn’t watch GB news and Nigel Farage as I only tune in to Neil Oliver’s monologues, but would expect the interview with the Donald to be scripted. I think he would have been much better at bringing the two sides together as I don’t think he would have financed Zelensky’s corrupt regime or supported the UN in their warmongering. The criminal activities of the Biden family would have come out far sooner too. Apparently Zelinsky is in Finland and may never go back. Hope he loses everything when the banks fail couldn’t happen to a nicer person.
Anyone watch the Nigel Farage interview with Donald Trump yesterday evening on GB News? I couldn’t help thinking that the line of question and answering was all scripted in advance like I’ll ask you that question and you answer it that way sort of thing. Trump ludicrously stated that if he had been in power Russia would not have invaded Ukraine at all, and that he could have ended the war within 24 hours. I mean that really is so far fetched it defies belief. To my way of thinking the war between Russia and Ukraine has its roots in the eastward expansion of both NATO and the European Union, and Russia whether it be under Putin or somebody else was never going to take that lying down, and a bit of foresight should have been employed by western leaders at the time including our then prime minister. And of course all this happened before Trump became President of the United States, but what he do whilst in power to roll this back and reduce its impact. The fact of the matter is that Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania should have remained neutral countries and should not have been accepted into the North Atlantic Treaties Association. This situation is like the Cuban missiles crisis of 1962, but in reverse. Why didn’t Farage pursue the line of questioning about the lack of United Nations involvement in this conflict by trying to get the two countries around the negotiating table. And I wish Trump would stop saying how he knew and understood every world leader and had a good relationship with them and that everything was ‘great’ and ‘fantastic’. And of course he said much the same sort of thing about the late Queen Elizabeth 11 and how King Charles 111 would do a great job etc etc, but obviously he was trying to be tactful and diplomatic unlike the present President of the US. Give Trump his due though, whilst initially he was initially traded insults with Kim Jong Un of North Korea via his childish trademark tweets, he did in fact go the extra length to meet up with him and try to thrash something out. It didn’t work, but the Americans should have pursued dialogue with that country. As Sir Winston Churchill once said ‘jaw jaw is better than war war’. And what has our own country done to foster better relations with North Korea. As far as I can see, bugger all like most things of importance.
“… roots in the eastward expansion of both NATO and the European Union”
Absolutely Colin and, given the population reduction target of the UN and others, we may expect more provocation with intent to start a war.
Nigel Farage is certainly good at some things (making himself money?) and we all know he’s a great friend of The Donald so to think his questions were scripted is very likely. However, Nigel is no journalist. I have listened to him ask questions and he insists on putting in his own opinions, whereas a journalist would not. You should not be able to discern the personal views of a proper interviewing reporter and that’s why I don’t listen to Nigel on GB News. Pity really.
Debbie…thanks for that insight into what goes on. Its good to read that I’m not the only one to think that the interview was all rehearsed in advance. It sounded all a little bit too false and stilted for my liking, and Trump did repeat himself a couple of times, probably forgetting that what he said had been said already, and in his mind thinking have I said what was in the script. You are right, Farage is far too keen in promoting his own views when interviewing people, and I suspect one doesn’t get the best out of people doing that. His programme has become too formulaic and he unfortunately has become a tad boring and predictable. As someone said to me recently his programme is the Daily Star of the airwaves. Time for him to return to what he does best me thinks, but if he is not careful he will be overtaken by by someone like Ben Habib.
Already is as far as I am concerned- Ben Habib out runs a lot of todays politicians!
As a radio commentator asked the other day, who is the King of Norway? In contrast, the whole world knows who the King of England is. Dreary republicanism would be economically destructive. The benefits of tourist visitors may not be visible in provincial towns, but when the tax contribution of London is diminished by becoming a republic, when the pageant of the changing of the guard or state opening of parliament is no more, when our history is pulled down literally, the reasons to visit the UK will also be removed for a significant number of Americans and Asians and the reduced tax receipts, which would be significant, would impoverish the provinces even more as what in effect is the London subsidy to them would diminish. Republicanism would be levelling down to the detriment of all.
There are obstacles to ending the monarchy. The Crown is so embedded in our legal system that it may not be as simple as an act saying for the Crown read the President (or Prime Minister if no President). And who would the President be? It would be party based as an open election of 10,000 wannabees would not be practical. So President Corbyn, Blair, Cameron, Clegg, or May? When polling support for the monarchy, respondents should be asked if they would like to see any of these people replace the King. The results might not show the alleged increase in support for a republic.
This illustrates the quote from Disraeli I posted two days ago about the dilemma of change and whether it “should be carried out in deference to the manners, the customs, the laws, and the traditions of a people, or whether it should be carried out in deference to abstract principles, and arbitrary general doctrines”. The not-my-King republicans are pursuing an abstract principle that they elevate over all other considerations and without regard to consequences in practice. The 15 minute city, net zero and now green spaces for all are other principles even more impractical perhaps than abolishing the monarchy.
A 15-minute-walk? No thank you, I’ll stick with my much longer walks and resist any attempt to confine me in one of their “15 minute cities”; perhaps better known as the concentration camps they are no doubt intended to become.
There have been two more banks that have gone under this week, First Republic is gone and Pacwest is as good as gone and it will be official very soon, in the coming weeks and months, hundreds more banks will go bust. Ignore the mainstream media. I’ve been studying this and we’ve come to the end of the road, losses so far exceed the 2008 financial crisis and it’s going to get a lot worse, there will be no money printing this time or zero interest rates, there will be no Fed pivot for some time. Get ready, it’s looking very likely that we’re heading into a savage depression!!!
I’ll be posting more on the above in due course but in the meantime, here’s a video that shows just how much contempt the elites have for us. It’s all about ALADIN, Blackrocks formidable AI robot computer that has been created to take over all of the world’s money, assets and resources and the real reason that: “you will own nothing and be happy.” If this video isn’t a 100% accurate, it is I’m very sure, very close to the truth.
