… it’s only yours if you share the bank’s “values”
There’s one news item only today which should be of national importance: Nigel Farage and the bank. It’s the modern equivalent of a witch hunt.theI found it amazing how our esteemed MSM reported – or not! – on this issue. ‘Manipulative’ is the description which fits best as Auntie Beeb’s headline for their front apes compilation demonstrates: “Newspaper review: ‘Heatwave from hell’ and Farage’s finances” (link).
Oh Auntie! It ain’t about Mr Farage’s finances even though it was your ‘staff’ which came out with the gossip from yon bank that Mr F was ‘too poor’ to be allowed to keep his account there. See this from the DT’s report on the Coutts’ dossier (all emphases are mine):
“Earlier this month, the BBC and the Financial Times reported claims that the reason Mr Farage’s accounts were closed was that they fell below the financial threshold required by the bank. The BBC quoted sources “familiar with” the Coutts decision. Yet in the 40 pages of documents released to Mr Farage after he made a subject access request to Coutts, the bank repeatedly says he “meets the EC [economic contribution] criteria for commercial retention”.” (paywalled link)
That’s what happens when a formerly reputable news organisation relies on ‘sources’ rather than on their own, proper research. That’s what happens when a formerly ‘unbiased, impartial’ news organisation prefers to report smears rather than investigating the truth of the matter, for blatant, political reasons.
There is far more to worry about though. It’s not just about Mr NF and his ‘finances’. The DT reports on the actual timeline of how this decision was reached. It’s chilling:
“When the wealth reputational risk committee at Coutts met on Nov 17 last year, its members were handed a dossier on Nigel Farage that ran to no fewer than 36 pages. […] The committee members were told that a personal banking triage team had “uncovered adverse press” about the former Ukip leader, including such apparent revelations as his preference for Britain to leave the European Convention on Human Rights.” (paywalled link)
So this bank has not just a ‘reputational risk committee’ but they also have a ‘personal banking triage team’ whose ‘work’ is so efficient that only last year they ‘uncovered adverse press’ about NF’s political stance! I am amazed by their perspicacity! And how amazing is it that Mr NF has kept his political views so secret over the years that only last year the dossier writers noticed …! There’s more:
“The dossier noted that “there is no evidence of regulator or legal censure of the client,” that he was unfailingly polite to staff and that he had recently been downgraded from a “higher risk politically exposed person [PEP]” to lower risk, and was on the way to being classed as no risk at all. Closing his accounts was not justifiable on a monetary basis because “the client’s economic contribution is now sufficient to retain on a commercial basis”. ” (paywalled link)
There was no evidence of anything to justify closing Mr NF’s account, according to their own findings. More and more, this looks like a desperate attempt by the ‘dossier creators’ to find something, anything, to justify their decision. Lo and behold – they found something:
“[…] the bank decided that having Mr Farage as a client was no longer “compatible with Coutts given his publicly-stated views that were at odds with our position as an inclusive organisation”, according to minutes of the meeting. It added: “This was not a political decision, but one centred around inclusivity and purpose.” (paywalled link)
Since when are ideological values not political? No matter how they try to spin this: it was a decision based on ideology alone, used with impunity to ‘cancel’ customers’ accounts. Moreover, the bank’s ‘committee’ and dossier makers knew full well that even this argument was as weak as watered milk:
“As Coutts’s own minutes of the Nov 2022 meeting acknowledged: “Although he does not align with our views, is likely [sic] to be the same for a number of the bank’s customers.” (paywalled link)
Will yon bank now close the accounts of all those other customers? They ought to if they want to keep their pristine reputation of impartially adhering to their ‘values’ of ‘inclusivity’ because nothing screams ‘inclusivity’ as loudly as removing all those who do not ‘share our values’.
It doesn’t stop there. Apparently, yon bank had already tried earlier to ‘get Farage’, ‘reviewing’ him for this ‘reputational risk forum’ in 2018 already “[…] focusing solely on NF’s alleged ‘Russian ties’” but since nothing was found, they “reviewed this case “on a more holistic basis” this time around.” (paywalled link).
If you wonder about this new criterium ’’holistic’, if you wonder why another review was instituted after 2028 – well, look at this: in 2019 a new director of yon bank took over:
“Dame Alison Rose: the bank boss who steered Coutts’ diversity drive – The chief executive of NatWest has overseen a pivot towards saving the planet and LGBT rights since taking the helm” (paywalled link)
I leave it to you to decide if this new, female director imposed her views on the male-dominated bank or if she was selected because lower management was already well indoctrinated in those values and demanded a figurehead. How far has the whole banking industry sunk into deep, wokeristic ‘values’? Isn’t this the slippery slope towards a Chinese system of social control and social engineering?
Will the banking ombudsman point out to any ‘value-holding’ bank directors that they can only decide about removing customers due to financial reasons, not political ones? What does it say about the other directors of yon bank that they clearly have caved in to ‘political values’ when all else – from PEP risk to Russian connections to ‘wealth’ – has failed?
Furthermore: why did all other British banks refuse to open an account for Mr NF when the Coutts’ decisions had clearly nothing to do with financial probity or ‘risk of PEP’? Are they now all so woke that we will need a ‘politically clean’ certificate before they touch our money? Or will we need to show our ‘watermelon’ credentials once Labour is in office?
That’s all I have for today. I’ll only note, for the record, that just as in the ‘Bud Light’ saga, just as in the mess of water companies unable to do their duty, it’s always ‘wimmin’ who made those decisions … Have a good day.
BNP denied banking facilites
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/barclays-bank-shuts-down-bnp-accounts-553495.html#
Many years ago I marched into our Barclays Bank and closed my business account and my private account.
‘Why’? asked the bank manager.
‘Because Barclays is denying the BNP banking facilities ‘ I said.
‘Are you a member of the BNP’ he asked
‘No’ I replied
‘Then why should you care’ he said.
‘I believe banks should remain apolitical and that as long as any account holder is not doing anything illegal then to deny banking facilities to a political party politicises your bank and set’s itself to be used by powerful politicians, lobbyists and individuals to close down legitimate debate. Today it is the BNP but tomorrow it could be my party UKIP” I said.
Don’t remember Nigel being outraged in 2004 at the above incident but now he knows what it feels like to be an outcast.
Jake…………you’re right there. I don’t remember Farage being outraged then either. And whilst I feel for him about his banking issues I am sure that we are not being told the full story of his predicament either. Also, to devote the whole of his GB News programme as he did last night to that one single issue to the exclusion of everything else strikes me to be about ‘me, me, me’. I sincerely hope he now realises that it is not good enough to be shouting from the sidelines from the safety of radio/tv station studio, and that he needs to be out there again on the political front line leading a loose coalition of centre right parties and giving the electorate of this country a proper choice. But has he got the bottle to do it?…..
There are few institutions that have not been captured by the ‘progressive’ or ‘woke’, an insidious process that has been going on unimpeded for some time. It has reached a point where £5m a year Dame Allison espouses ‘inclusivity’ as a justification for excluding someone. Par for the Orwellian course we are now on. The Stasi style dossier – Stasi like for existing at all and for including gossip – contained slurs that would please any Guardian reader. The self-righteous and sanctimonious, on a moral crusade to bend the world in their own image, may have overreached with Farage in that government ministers are at least muttering about this. But, I very much doubt there will be any real change.
We are not winning the culture war – occasional push back, a minor win here and there is not winning the war – and so there is no cultural space for conservatism and the return of values that were British. The land of fair play is being corroded away.
” Isn’t this the slippery slope towards a Chinese system of social control and social engineering? ”
That just about says it all. What happened to Farage is what we’ll all have to get used to if TPTB get their way.
The least we do to fight it I think is to refuse to have a digital ID. This will start out as voluntary, called a green /health pass and will only be needed eg by people wanting to travel abroad. This of course being the thin end of the wedge, as in their slimy way TPTB will extend it to shops or train journeys.
Farage:
“his preference for Britain to leave the European Convention on Human Rights.”
An absolute necessity to remove their interference and deal with the illegal immigrants, also known erroneously by many as “asylum seekers” which, under the rules of the UN itself, they are not.

NF + Tice + ukip + Org. = * ***
NF – Tice – ukip – org = – 0
TG Spokes……how many bottles of Single Malt did you consume before writing above. I mean what is ‘Org/org’ And why mention of UKIP (ukip) when Farage resigned from the UK Independence in 2019 and Tice has never had a connection with UKIP, apart from stating pretty recently that talking about Immigration was ‘a Ukippy thing’ Just about sums Tice’ arrogance up. Please explain though, I’ll be listening with all three ears.
As Colin H said here – that what you get when using a toy town bank (like Coutts).
Biscotte………in reality how many members of this country’s population are experiencing problems with their bank? I have never had a problem personally and have never heard of anyone else saying they have either apart from the usual complaints of long queues, and mortgage rate too high and interest rates too low etc. Having said that when I and others from our UKIP branch association went into a certain High Street bank to change the bank mandates with the required forms and handed them in over the counter, the bank repeatedly stated that nothing had been received, and we did think at the time that this was a deliberate act We had to do this several times before the mandates were updated, and then when we came to close the account, that also presented a problem. There seemed to be a lack of communication between local bank staff and those in the business section of the bank in another office. I think it is true that most banks do not like holding accounts for political parties. Of course it did mean that until the bank mandates had been properly updated we could not use the account by presenting cheques etc. And when me and another chap started a local Independents Party, most of the banks we contacted stated that they no longer accepted accounts from political parties.
It’s all part of the general attempt to enslave the population through their finances.
The other part of the attack is the attempt to do away with the money in your pocket.
On a lighter note..
I went to the bank to apply for a loan.
The banker said okay, but I’ll need some information first. What do you do for a living?
I’m a dentist.
A fine profession! And are you married?
Yes.
And what does your wife do for a living?
Well, it’s a little hard to say….
I must know if you want this loan!
Well, she sells seashells by the seashore!!
Chris……….sorry I don’t get it….
It’s even harder to say when you’ve consumed some of TG Spokes’ Single Malt.
Chris and CH: I dont get it either
Woke women at the helm, thats not all, the Police Crime Commissioner appointed a woman as Chief Fire Officer for Northamptonshire even though the Fire Brigade Union pointed out that she had had no fire service training , qualifications or experience. She resigned after eleven days not because of this but because of her ‘friendship’ with the PCC. and Interestingly this was not the first time that a Chief Fire Officer was appointed who had no fire service operational experience.
Another fine mess created by the unwanted adoption of Police Crime and now Fire Commissioners to oversee our emergency services that have on their watch mostly adopted the ‘woke’ mantra, and all instigated by that political giant of the conservative party and one time Prime Minister David Cameron.
Norman………….to a degree this practice also exists in the police service these days as well. When I was in the police the senior ranks ranks all came through from the bottom, although a limited number were through accelerated promotion schemes. More recently due to government interference and Police and Crime Commissioners, a policy was adopted whereby direct recruitment was introduced into the Superintendent rank and above without the need to have had any experience whatsoever of policing the streets. And I dread to think what type of training they received. And politicians and the like wonder why the clear up rates are so low, well that is the answer. These people recruited into senior police ranks without any experience or training from industry are dictating policy and priorities. Or incompetent politicians have a lot to answer for….
Norman- no experience and no quals – did she become an mp I wonder?
And get it right – pm Cameroon was not a giant, but ‘humungous political giant!’.
Biscotte…………Cameron….a pipsqueak more like, who didn’t play by the rules. At least however he had the good sense to stand down when he realised that he had lost the argument.
Not in the same league (sic) of importance but symptomatic nonetheless less, is that TNT, replacing BT Sport Football coverage, is to be fronted by all-women. I don’t recognise any names except the ex-5-Live travel reporter.
I realise commentary is different but it still brings to mind that the much lauded three times Women’s World cup winning US team were thrashed by a local Tampa Bay team of 15-year-old schoolboys.
Women’s uS national football team played the FC Dallas U-15 boys academy team on Sunday and fell 5-2, according to FC Dallas’ official website.
Now, 15-Year-Old Boys’ Soccer Team Demands Equal Pay For Beating U.S. Women’s Team.
It’s only fair,” said high school scholar Aiden Benton. “This is a clear case of sexism and age discrimination, that I get paid nothing to play and the women get a decent pay check.”
Nice. Thanks for the correction.
