If ‘water’ is traumatising, surely rain is as well?
It’s raining, again. Also: I’m ‘traumatised’. It’s irrational, I know, – but not as irrational as the MSM news editors who must at least believe their own headlines, mustn’t they. Else they’d be uber-cynical, and that can’t be the case. Here’s the compilation: “Newspaper headlines: ‘Immigration chaos’ and ‘Tory fury’” (link).
So today we’re meant to talk of ‘immigration’ and some Tories being furious’ about ‘immigration lawyers’. It’s not as if this can have been utterly unknown. There are two articles in The Times about the RAF not going to fly “immigrants” to Ascension Island, a barren piece of real estate in the Atlantic where water for the few who live there has been important. I wonder which fertile mandarin brain concocted this idea.
There’s one piece in the DT which exemplifies the cleverness of these ‘crooked’ immigration lawyers as well as the stunning, utter helplessness displayed by out ‘law abiding’ civil serpents who seem to kowtow peremptorily to any lawyerly argument because – as the Mirror showed in the headline gracing their print front page – the usual suspects would be ‘offended’ and might ‘protest’, from the HoC all the way down.
You just have to see the headline of yon DT report to ask if this is simply Silly Season idiocy or if the adults have really and finally left the building: “Migrants avoid move to Bibby Stockholm over ‘severe fear of water’” (paywalled link). It’s their lawyers who block this transfer, with the help of an NGO (emphases are all mine):
“As many as 20 migrants blocked their transfer from taxpayer-funded hotels to the Bibby Stockholm barge after lawyers backed by the Care4Calais charity said they were too traumatised to be moved. The first 15 boarded the barge in Portland, Dorset, on Monday. Care4Calais chief executive Steve Smith told The Telegraph: “They range from people with disabilities and survivors of torture to people who have been beaten, shot at, some arrested, some traumatised by seeing their friends drown at sea and who therefore have a severe fear of water. “There are therefore mental health concerns and a very worried and very traumatised community.” (paywalled link)
I am only surprised that these ‘traumatised’ people didn’t mention their dinghy journey as ‘trauma’! I also wonder how they came to arrive here if water has traumatised them so much: hidden on lorries? I’ll quote the final paragraphs of this article, to show the brazen demands by NGOs and lawyers on behalf of their ‘clients’. Mr Smith, the director of yon ‘refugee” NGO, ‘Care4Calais’, said:
“[…] the barge – which is surrounded by 20ft-high metal fences and where migrants are escorted or bussed through two sets of security gates – was more like a “prison ship”. He said: “We were talking to an Iranian human rights lawyer who had been in prison. The prospect of going into a barge with narrow corridors, limited ability to go into town using shuttle buses that go through two security checkpoints is, in a way, a bit like being back in prison. Where is the access to fresh air, being able to walk around, being able to integrate with the community? To house any human being in a floating prison’ like the Bibby Stockholm is inhumane. To try and do so with this group of people is unbelievably cruel. Even just receiving the notices is causing them a great deal of anxiety.” (paywalled link)
I am in awe of the dexterity with which a luxury barge – we’ve all seen the descriptions of the accommodation – is labelled ‘a prison ship’ because there are fences around the dock and thus becomes immediately ‘inhumane’. After all, an Iranian human rights lawyer said so …
Then there’s the demand that the poor things should be ‘able to integrate with the community’. Said ‘community’ must not be asked if they want hundreds of young men from different cultures swamping their own villages and towns. Said communities must accept that young men will be young men and harass their women and girls: that’s diversity, and complaining makes you a racist. And all that in the name of ‘humanity’.
I’m not even going to touch the wrangle about ‘screening’ processes which allegedly is too short, and I do have my doubts that Ms Braverman will be able to “withdraw the asylum seekers’ right to state-funded accommodation if they continue to refuse to take their places on the barge,” (paywalled link). I’m sure ‘immigration lawyers’ will make the HO pay …
I’ve reached the point where I think getting Starmer into No 10 and letting Labour deal with this mess, created by their own erstwhile PM, Mr TB, will be rough but suitable justice. I would like to hear some Labourites, ‘defenders of the workers’, explain to their downtrodden clientele that they must accept inflation and ever higher taxes to support those ‘poor refugees’ living in luxurious circumstances they can only dream of.
I am still puzzled why such luxury accommodation is worse than having to live in tents or cockroach-riddled former army barracks. I am also puzzled why rain isn’t ‘traumatising’ these poor things: it’s water, after all, no? but that’s just me. I’m no lawyer, after all.

It is one thing for these useless Conservative MP’s to bang on about lawyers and charities for stalling and holding up government policies to do with Immigration. Their party has been in power for 13 years and they have done bugger all to sort out this and other problems. It is high time that these MP’s realised that the real fault rests with the prime minister and nobody else, and we all know that May, Johnson and now Sunak have lacked the political willpower, conviction, backbone and common sense to sort this long standing problem out. The answer staring them in the face is to withdraw this country from the European Court for Human Rights which will enable us to return these illegal migrants to from whence they came. Instead they prevaricate and kick the proverbial can down the road because they haven’t got the balls to sort it out, and rely on the courts to do their job for them. I am sick and tired of Sunak who is a complete waste of time. If ever there was a person unsuited to the job he holds, then it has to be him. But the same could be said for Johnson as well, and we all know what happened to him….in the end. And the same will happen to Sunak, only he will be summarily dismissed by the electorate come the next general election, and his useless will be out of power for a very long time, and perhaps never again.

Entering the UK illegally is a criminal offence. The criminals on the barge are lucky that our ordinary prisons are full. They should celebrate not being held in one of those.
Care4Calais turned immigration into a racket some time ago and the racket is becoming ever more farcical. Thalassophobia will no doubt prove contagious. The government should broadcast that exposure therapy is best – it probably is in genuine cases – and the barge as a caring, therapeutic response.

TPTB have made all things upside down, and right/ wrong. turned on its head. Everything THEY do is unlawful if not illegal. While Humpty Dumpty law applies to us: what we do is OK or not according tp whether it suits their agenda.
Besides which, as I understand it , has not the UN decided with its UN Global Migration Compact that all immigration is legal and a right. How far has this been enshrined in UK/EU law?
Mary……….when I was in the Old Bill, I used to regularly arrest illegal migrants found walking the streets under the Immigration Act 1971, and yes it used to be a criminal offence to enter illegally and/or overstay Visa or leave to remain in the country. At the police station we called HM Immigration Service and they used to attend the station (eventually) interview the suspect and depending on the evidence and what the suspect said were served deportation papers and kept in the custody of the HM Immigration Service at the police station or transferred to an Immigration Detention Centre until that fateful day when they would be deported which used to occur very quickly. And if they were released on bail pending further enquiries, they were required to sign on at a designated police station every day or specific days of the week, and at a particular time, which was a requirement under the Bail Act. And if they didn’t do this they were promptly arrested and kept in custody. I don’t know what happens these days, but it seems to me that criminals and illegal immigrants have the upper hand over the law, government, the police and Border Force, and this needs to change back to how it used to be when wrong doers knew who ruled the roost, and it wasn’t them or their half wit lawyers. I just cannot understand what has happened since I retired which was only eleven years ago. This damn useless Conservative government, its prime ministers, ministers and MP’s just do not seem to grasp the basic concept of government at all and either have the disinclination to govern and/or allow themselves to be poleaxed by lawyers and do gooders at the drop of a hat. We need some decent politicians in charge of this country who know what they are doing rather than the utter shower of shyte that rule over us these days.

Hotels, barges, military bases, council housing .. how long before they’re all full? Where are they going to live when they’ve been processed? Hundreds of thousands of young men and hardly any women, what could possibly go wrong. Anyone entering illegally, crossing the Channel by small boat with no proof of identity should be assumed to be a French citizen and taken back to France. TPTB say we have no return agreement with France, but equally, France has no delivery agreement with the UK. It’s costing the taxpayer a fortune and we can no longer afford this madness.
As someone who hasn’t set foot in my native country for many years, I find this video by Neil McCoy-Ward very disturbing.
Neil and his wife left their home on the Isle of Man to go on their annual camping holiday but got robbed on the British mainland of their vehicle and thousands of pounds worth of possessions. The police treated them like an inconvenience and soon dropped the case, it seems that this kind of crime is too commonplace in Britain now for the police to bother about it.
Neil’s assistant had the catalytic converter stolen from his car and his CCTV showed him that there was a a machete wielding man waiting on his doorstep in case he interfered with the robbery. A machete is a tool used to clear a path in the African jungle (hint). So with immigration our streets have become violent, crime ridden, third world hellholes, perhaps like Harare or somewhere similar; the government and police however are going to great lengths to cover this up.

The police service in this country has definitely lost its way, and that is due in part to many of the Chief Constables who have come direct from Universities into senior positions without first having to serve in the lower ranks and on the street where it all happens. The policies they tend to pursue are those that are taught on left leaning graduate courses that depriving a criminal of their liberty is somehow against their human rights etc, and that some lower type of theft offences are crimes that should go unpunished. Then we have the politicisation of the police that was forced upon us without our consent by those by the imposition of Police and Crime Commissioners. The government, and yes it was a Conservative government, held a referendum on whether PCC’s should be introduced and the majority voted that they shouldn’t be introduced, but they decided otherwise and introduced them anyway, and some of these PCC’s are failed politicians who didn’t make it in parliament, and the Mayor of London is one of those that can dictate what is important in their eyes and what isn’t. Things started to go pear shaped at the latter end of my service when Stop and Search was frowned upon and the powers that be introduced ludicrous schemes like Restorative Justice which led to less offenders being arrested. In my book handcuffing and depriving an offender of their liberty for five to six hours, having their property taken away, being fingerprinted and having a DNA sample taken from them and put in a cell whilst the police gathered the evidence to put before them at a Taped Interview and then deciding disposal is a good way of teaching an offender that crime doesn’t pay. However, the video confused me a little as we were told that they were going on a camping holiday which to all intents and purposes was at a glamping site where everything is provided on site including the accommodation, so why would their be a need for a tent, one of the items which was stolen. Too much use of the word ‘Rob’ was mentioned, and Robbery of course is a serious offence which is a theft with the use of violence or threat of. As I see it the theft of their vehicle and contents was not a Robbery, but was a Theft subject to Section 1 Theft Act 1968. Undoubtedly the police attending the incident would have taken his name and address and contact details and recorded it as a crime and he would have been supplied with a crime number. The registration number of the vehicle would have been circulated upon the Police National Computer, which would mean if stopped the occupants of the vehicle would be arrested. And of course every vehicle on the road has an Vehicle Identification Number, Engine Number and Chassis Number, so if the registration plates are taken off and replaced with another, the stolen vehicle can still be traced As the vehicle was stolen there would have been no forensic evidence to take at the time. Even in my day the detection rates for Theft of motor vehicle or theft from motor vehicle were low because of lack of forensic evidence and cctv evidence. When I reported theft of motor vehicles on a street, I would always knock on doors to ascertain whether the occupants had seen anything suspicious. Whether that happens these days, I know not, but it is a fact of life that most people are not standing at their windows looking out. Getting back to my original point, police forces throughout the country are given guidance by the Home Office which is controlled by the government of the day. And of course all this breakdown has largely occurred under a Conservative administration. The party of Law and Order they used to say. I think not………
That story about anxiety explains why much of the public service is still working from home then, they must have some sort of anxiety neurosis, although one does wonder how they manage to get a diagnosis these days, we have to wait a month to get a phone ‘consultation’ with a G.P. It very much looks as if the ‘managed decline’ of the UK beloved by the civil service is now reaching the end game.
