Here’s another one! They’re everywhere!
No surprises at the start of another week: the fodder for those still buying the print editions of the MSM is worse than ever: “Newspaper headlines: ‘Fergie cancer battle’ and ‘Elton bids farewell’.” (link). Oh give us ‘royalty’ to make us believe they’re ‘just like us’, and give us ‘rock royalty’ because: why not! Squirrel-hunters like me are having a field day!
Meanwhile, to keep us in the state of fear to which we’ve become accustomed, we have ‘Putin’ and ‘Russia’, in the wake of the strange ‘uprising’ of the chef of ‘Wagner’, the mercenary troop. From ‘Putin is doomed’ to ‘Putin will become even more aggressive’ to: “UK ‘must prepare for sudden collapse of Russia’ – Whitehall issues warning about stability of Putin’s regime after failed coup attempt” (link, paywalled), there’s something for everybody. What there isn’t are reports about the ‘success’ of the fabulous Ukrainian counteroffensive.
I’ve kept well away from that morass. Those of you who are interested have long since found the various ‘alt’ sites and blogs where this war and indeed the ‘uprising’ are being discussed by more knowledgeable people. I’ll just observe that ‘Whitehall warning’ is not precisely filling me with confidence …
However, as inveterate squirrel-hunter, I would like to point out that we’ve already had two big fat squirrels during the last week: the submersible imploding near the Titanic and, after it was found, we got the ‘Russian uprising’, with a ‘happy-making’ dose of Glastonbury for the peasants. This begs the question: what did the international propaganda mouthpieces want to hide?
Well, there’s the unfortunate case of Prez Biden’s son who got his collar felt – only ‘because: taxes!’, not because of sex with underage girls documented on his laptop, or because of his and his dad’s shady involvement in Ukrainian gas deals (link). He only pleaded to a ‘misdemeanor’, something that can befall any gentleman. You might like to read what Congressman Jim Jordan thinks about this (link)!
But then again, why should we worry about all that jazz when there are such beautiful squirrels to gawp at, like ‘Elton John’s Golden Good-Bye’ (link)! However, as I sifted through the propaganda dross I came across a report which begged the question: is The Times a paid-up Labour propaganda paper, or are some editors slowly trying to disengage, some sly digs at Auntie Beeb included? Look at this headline “Rishi Sunak is a sociopath, claims Ben Elton on BBC show” (link, paywalled), reporting that:
“The BBC has been criticised after the comedian Ben Elton accused Rishi Sunak of being a “mendacious narcissistic sociopath”. He was reacting after the prime minister told people who were struggling financially to hold their nerve over interest rate rises and distanced himself from Boris Johnson.” (link, paywalled)
Oh dear! A former ‘comedian’ who has always been a Labour mouthpiece, is actually a psychoanalyst as well? Who knew! But then again, from policemen all the way down to MSM hacks and certain politicians, Westminster is riddled with secret psychoanalysts who know immediately after a knifing that the perp was ‘mentally ill’ and not a terrorist and above all had nothing to do with the religion of peas, his name notwithstanding. There’s more (all emphases are mine):
“[Ben] Elton was a guest on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg to discuss her interview with Sunak. He said that it was an “extraordinary Orwellian, meaningless, evasive word salad. Really? A Labourite expected a Tory PM not to act like a Tory? Yes, I believe that, of course I do! I’m grateful to The Times for printing Mr B.Elton’s own ‘word salad’:
“This man literally, he seemed to be making a principle of the fact that he resigned from a government that he’d served loyally and tried to keep propped up for numerous years. He seems to act as if being born into Downing Street six months ago was a miracle birth. No, he was a part of a 13-year cycle which has got us to this point. He’s the prime minister. He owes us honesty but we got nothing but mendacity, evasion and vanity, just dripping with vanity.” (link, paywalled)
Let me just point out in aside that Mr Sunak wasn’t even in the HoC when this ‘13-year cycle’ (whatever Mr B.E. means by that) started. But precise data are simply petitesses for Labour supporters who generally overlook gracefully the economic wreckage left behind by the last Labour PM, a certain G.Brown. Anyway, no Labour PM – erstwhile or in waiting – is vain, ok?
In an extraordinary display of fairness The Times next quotes three (!) Tories, one of whom said that most people were more interested in another Elton, another who said that: “The BBC these days seems like one long party political broadcast for the Labour Party. It’s becoming just a soap box for the left. It’s a disgrace.” and, for good measure, adding one other Tory MP who said: “Elton sounds even more out of touch with mainstream opinion than Keir Starmer.” (link, paywalled)
Of course, being so very non-partisan, The Times also spoke to Auntie Beeb: “The BBC said: “We feature a wide range of guests . . . and ensure we meet our due impartiality commitments.” (link, paywalled). Yes, dear Auntie – we know! In general, we also know that our beloved Westminster MSM are unsurpassed in their display of ‘impartiality’, don’t we!
Sadly, there was no outcry by proper psychoanalysts demanding that lay people refrain from analysing politicians. Personally, I think the whole of Westminster is either mentally ill or mentally deficient, but what do I know! I’m neither a psychoanalyst nor an old, has-been ‘comedian’.

Just looking at the 2024 election betting odds. Most of the betting is for most seats by top three or four parties. Only here and there, is a mention of Reform Party.
UKIP does not get a mention at all. Reform and UKIP are not expected to get any seats.
Oh, and the ‘bent’ snp party is forecast to lose half its seats – meanwhile a labour landslide across country.
Biscotte………..well its going to be a long uphill struggle to get the UK Independence Party into the public limelight once again, but I would rather involve myself in a long uphill struggle with UKIP than waste my time with Reform UK which has got absolutely nothing going for it. The present Conservative Party is bad enough as we all know, but I consider Reform UK to be Conservative Lite, nothing more nothing less. Pollsters and betting companies are biased just like everybody else and will try to influence the mindset of the electorate if they can. Its just as well I have never done any betting, gambling, National Lottery or anything else in my life, as the whole concept bores me to tears. They can say what they like to the gullible of this world, but one thing is for sure come the next general election there will be a catastrophic collapse in the Conservative vote which is nothing more than they deserve with all the garbage we have had to endure from them. And some party(s) will be the benefactor of this collapse, one of which will hopefully be UKIP. It is imperative that UKIP gives a good account of itself in Uxbridge and South Ruislip as the Conservative Party need to be on the end of a sound thrashing to send a message to clueless Sunak who is about as useless as they come.
Politics seems to me to be a belief system of notice -interest-,education ( Indoctrination) – belief -activist,… With the political goal being the Activist. ( cheap Army ?).Ukip and Reform seem not to need to follow this path which seem s the only route to power.. The harmless route both Reform and UKIP seem to follow seems to satisfy them and the conservative Parties. This can only be enemy action.
So, to me, this is a purely theoretical exercise leaving only the path espoused by Viv of the XXX INDEPENDENT

TG Spokes……….I wish I knew what you were driving at here with this comment. That fact of the matter is, the UK Independence Party is and was poles apart from Reform UK. Not in relation to the type of politics that they pursue, but the way in which they are run. UKIP has always been democratically run, whereas the same cannot be said of Reform UK. UKIP had a large network of local branches which these days is not so large now for well known reasons, and which had a degree of autonomy from the central party in that they could decide who their branch officers would be, were permitted to hold bank accounts with a view to raising funds and recruited activists and most importantly of all the party had a governing body which held the leader(s) to account and was able to rid the party of those leader(s) if not performing satisfactorily. Whilst Reform UK has some semblance of local branches, the party is essentially run from the centre and people are appointed into positions and think elections can be run by a handful of people and via social media. The way I see it, a party cannot preach about reform without first putting its own house in order. Reform UK will never get anywhere unless there is radical change., and insofar as I am concerned I would much prefer to spend my time promoting a party that is democratically administered even though it might not have so much money at its disposal and may be an uphill struggle.
Cannot find too much to comment on today, but the photo of the Squirrel is great though. The bird on the left has obviously piqued his/her interest. And the squirrel reminds me of a colleague when I was at work. I always thought of her as a squirrel as she had some behavioural similarities to them, and I regularly put some ground nuts in her tray. to keep her occupied.
They ( the squirrels) are being thinned out now as reported in the DT!

Footage shared online shows the bird gobbling down the animal, which may have been eaten alive….
