What a surprise! The lying liars are lying again but there’s no latter-day Jeremy Paxman trying to nail their lies. When we accept that the majority of people in the UK are still reading the papers as if they were gospel, that they still watch the State Television because they’ve always done so and that a huge chunk of the younger age cohort – the ones who blame ‘Teh Boomers’ for everything – don’t ever watch or read News but are instead relying on Tik-Tok ‘influencers’ to tell them what to do, how to look and what to eat – well, it’s no wonder that the lying liars get away with murder!

I must be lenient – some writers here and there in the MSM are permitted to point out this or that lie. For example, in the wake of calls for Dominic Raab to resign because he was on holidays and therefore the catastrophic situation in Kabul is his fault, we read in The Times of all places that, ahem, the top mandarins in the Foreign Office as well as in the Home Office and the MoD are also on holidays:

“Sir Philip Barton, Matthew Rycroft and David Williams, permanent secretaries at the Foreign Office, the Home Office and the Ministry of Defence, are all on leave. Their absence emerged as the row intensified over whether Dominic Raab, the foreign secretary, should have returned from his own holiday as the Taliban advanced.” (link, paywalled)

Labour is of course incensed. Of course, no mandarin ever went on holidays while Blair and Brown were in No 10. Meanwhile, The Times editors in their editorial are giving an interesting spin to the question of what our government could have done and might have to do in future. On the one hand they acknowledge that:

“Britain’s military contribution to the US-led campaign is minimal; almost all its combat troops left in 2014. But the Foreign Office ought to be doing more to assist the evacuation of British nationals and Afghans. Instead there is barely concealed tension over the perception that diplomatic staff are leaving swiftly while defence personnel are having to be the mainstay of this urgent logistical exercise.” (link, paywalled)

On the other hand these editors, these opinion makers for the Westminster Villagers, describe a Britain struggling

“[…] to project a convincing image of a confident nation seeking a new place in the international order. Britain’s defence alliances remain in place, but the very fact that it is powerless to alter President Biden’s decision to retreat from Afghanistan shows the limits of its influence in the much-vaunted special relationship. Relations with France and Germany are especially poor after the diplomatic rupture of Brexit, and in the deep freeze with Russia and China.” (link, paywalled)

Yay! Brexit! As if the EU has been ‘projecting a confident image’, as if Brussels is doing anything about the looming influx of refugees! Still, “we” are struggling but need to ‘project’ more power while being de facto ‘powerless’ – interesting! Are they advocating an increase in defence spending by any chance, something any good Westminster Villager has been rejecting for many years?

Next, we’re in formed that Biden said that actually, all the other NATO allies could’ve stayed in Afghanistan and prevented the Taliban from taking over. The DT reports:

“On Thursday Mr Biden said it had been a joint decision to leave, and that Britain and other Nato nations had had the option of staying. The president said: “Look, before I made this decision I met with all our allies, our Nato allies in Europe. They agreed. We should be getting out.” Asked whether those allies had a choice, he said: “Sure, they had a choice. Look, the one thing I promise you – in private Nato allies are not quiet.” (paywalled link)

So there was ‘an agreement’, yee-hah! But note: US forces were being withdrawn from May 2021 onwards but the NATO Summit was on June 14th, after the fact. The MSM still seem to believe BJ should have stomped his feet and stayed in Afghanistan, regardless:

“[Biden’s] suggestion appeared to contradict the British position that it could not carry on the mission without America. Boris Johnson told Parliament on Wednesday that the West could not continue in Afghanistan without US support and air power.” (paywalled link)

What’s wrong with BJ’s assessment? Does anybody in the newsrooms and editorial offices of our beloved MSM really believe that BJ should have sent more of our troops to Afghanistan to prevent the Taliban from taking over? Most of our armed forces had already been withdrawn in 2014.

And which armed forces are we actually talking about? Those which have been reduced in numbers, those who have barely sufficient equipment, those whose specialists are going to be amalgamated into a ‘new high-tech strike force’ sometime in the future? And the covid-infested country would have accepted a new engagement without murmur?

The opinion-makers for the Westminster Villagers seem to believe that the current Defence secretary is correct when he talked about a looming US isolationism and that “Britain should equip itself to do more without the Americans.” (link, paywalled). How? Doesn’t the RN has fewer ships than in centuries, the RAF fewer planes and the Army is reducing the numbers of soldiers while struggling to get functioning equipment?

I can already hear the combined Left’s screeches that all that money would be better spent on the Sacred Cow. And don’t we need more money to feed all the new, incoming refugees? Rishi will be delighted to print more money to pay for covid debts, NHS, more Armed Forces, refugees – and then there’s the green stuff.

I’m delighted to tell you that the priestess of greenery, Ms Thunberg, has now come out of hiding and has told the world that the UK is ‘lying about its climate credentials’. She spoke at a UNICEF press briefing and told the world that global leaders still treat the climate crisis as a “faraway, distant problem”, telling the international press:

“There’s a lie that the UK is a climate leader and that they have reduced their CO2 emissions by 44 per cent since 1990. But if you include things like aviation, shipping, outsourcing, and… consumption, for instance and the burning of biomass, it doesn’t really look that good. So I’m really hoping that we will stop referring to the UK as a climate leader, because if you look at the reality that is simply not true.” (paywalled link)

Oh dear oh dear oh dear! I do agree that our political leaders are lying about everything and I’m not surprised about what Greta said next:

“They are very good at creative carbon accounting, I must give them that, but that doesn’t mean much in practice… We hope that they will actually start treating this crisis like an existential crisis. And I don’t know how many times we’ve said it, but we want them to stop talking and start acting.” (paywalled link)

The funny thing is of course that she and the credulous, greenery-obsessed MSM are so analytical when it’s about pushing their green agenda. However, they’re never looking with the same analytical eyes at the whole globull warming numbers.

And now Tony Blair has made it into one headline – or rather: his ‘Think Tank’ has, not he himself. That would be awkward, given that he’s one of the culprits who got us into the Afghanistan mess in the first place, twenty years ago.

His Think Tank uses the same sly arguments which Mr Blair himself used when he got us into the Afghan and the the Iraq mess: it’s only a tiny little sacrifice, it wont hurt at all:

“Climate change can be tackled with small reductions in flying and driving and we can continue eating meat and dairy, according to a report by Tony Blair’s think tank. It rebuts claims that meeting the UK’s legally binding target of net zero by 2050 will require a “total transformation” of people’s daily lives and says the number of behaviour changes needed over the next 15 years is “relatively limited”. It adds that the emissions savings needed to hit the target would not require a reduction in living standards.” (link, paywalled)

Yay! So BJ and all the analysts in his government lied about this? Perhaps it’s the climate sceptics and economists who lie? Or is it Blair and his Think Tank who are lying liars? Hm …

I’m left to wonder if perhaps the lying liars aren’t lying because they’re malevolent but  because they’re frightened to be found out. Rather than acknowledge past and present errors they lie through their teeth in the hope we’ll forget. “Events” however always show up their lies for what they are. Thus I leave you with a statement from the US Secretary for Defence, demonstrating that all the pious talk, from Biden to our own government and the MSM editorial ‘wise’ writers, was actually so much tosh:

“At a Pentagon briefing Wednesday, when Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was asked about the U.S. military’s capability to get its citizens out of Afghanistan, his answer was jaw-dropping: “We don’t have the capability to go out and collect large numbers of people.” (link)

Ah! So that was another, costly lie then! Why do we keep listening to all those lying liars, from covid tsars to Greta, Blair, Biden and BJ? Why do the MSM propagate the lies from those lying liars without ever questioning them? What are they afraid of?

KBO!
