After covid, did we need another example of the pernicious symbiosis of government and MSM? We surely did, and “ISIS-K”, the muslim terrorists who killed 12 US soldiers – these were Marines and one Navy paramedic – and 60 Afghans at Kabul Airport provided it.

We can leave aside the inevitable Biden-bleating, that he or rather the US will ‘hunt down’ those responsible and ‘make them pay’ (link). This comes under ‘he would say that’, but the MSM lap it up without asking how he’ll do this. Far worse is that now, after the fact, we learn from a ‘senior associate fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI)’, a Mr Raffaello Pantucci, writing for the DT, that this is

“An organisation that until now was largely unknown outside keen South Asia observers, this dramatic assault helps announce the organisation to the world while pouring salt on the many wounds which had already been exposed in the chaotic Western withdrawal from Kabul airport.” (paywalled link)

So far – so interesting. However, the following quote demonstrates that ‘our MSM’ have again been derelict in their duty to inform us. Perhaps their ‘sources’ in Whitehall told them not to mention this because it might upset us plebs? There’s this:

“It [ISIS-K] has previously been responsible for some of the most atrocious massacres in recent years in Afghanistan – including attacks on hospitals, places of worship and more.”  (paywalled link)

How interesting! I’m not aware of any reports coming out of Afghanistan about the terrorist attacks of that group or indeed anything else prior to the withdrawal.

However, surely the USA must have known? Surely the CIA, whose director general had a meeting with the new Taliban Leader on Monday, must have been aware? After all, didn’t the MSM mentioning their first reports on that massacre that ‘Western intelligence’ informed the Taliban a short while before those bombs went off? Or did they know but the Taliban wasn’t interested?

The researchers at the RUSI clearly were aware of that group. Since RUSI has been ‘in the business’ for two hundred years (link), one would surely hope they kept the relevant mandarins and indeed MI5 and MI6 informed. However, were the MSM aware of their research? Did they check the RUSI website or did they simply wait for a pre-chewed PR release, useful only when gaps in their pages need filling?

Cynical old me however believes that this is another example of the general policy of both Whitehall and the Westminster MSM to dumb us all down even further by withholding information. Cynical old me also thinks that we surely should be told if BJ and the Cabinet were aware of this threat. After all, shouldn’t we know what they’re going to do about the now even higher threat of such terrorists having entered our country, hidden amongst the flood of Afghan refugees coming here? Perhaps we’ll be told again that it’s racist to mention this threat.

Let me just ask if it’s not also racist by the MSM to disregard such information because it’s ‘only a fight between muslim factions’ over there, far away, of no possible interest to us:

“Fighting against Isis-K is not a new experience for the Taliban. Since the group emerged, the Taliban have been actively going after it, seeing it as a competitor organisation that was trying to undermine their influence, go after their recruits and steal their funders.” (paywalled link)

This threat really ought to worry us because the Taliban reportedly released 5,000 prisoners held at Bagram Airport – and ISIS-K members were amongst them. We might also ask if the Taliban were content to let this terrorist act happen because it was aimed at the USA (link) – or if they’re as inept in fighting ISIS terrorists as our intelligence and police forces are here at home. The outlook is certainly grim.

Meanwhile, our ever so well informed opinion piece writers have already concluded that this terrorist attack demonstrates the weakness of the G7 without the USA. Yeah right. Fraser Nelson who penned that piece warns about a Sino-Russian alliance:

“Both are close to the Taliban and now have plenty of influence in Kabul. Both have been hit by American and European sanctions and have been working together to get around them. A Sino-Russian foreign ministers’ summit earlier this year ended in agreement to “support each other’s efforts to safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests” (paywalled link)

Well, given how China and Russia are dealing with their own muslim inhabitants, it’ll be interesting to watch how they’re going to work with the Taliban in their fight against ISIS-K. I found this observation illuminating as well:

“It doesn’t take a strategic genius – or a conspiracy theorist – to see what’s likely to happen now. When a global power is in retreat, its enemies will probe its defences and see what happens. […] Sergei Lavrov, Putin’s foreign minister, says that he’s out to create a “truly multipolar and democratic world.” On his last trip to China, he said this vision was “being hindered by western countries, particularly the United States.” With American influence waning so fast and so visibly, these two new allies have their perfect chance” (paywalled link)

Well, they certainly have that chance now! Meanwhile our government has provided them with an image of being mired in the ‘war against covid’, with other priorities given to woke culture and the climate hoax. Our own government obviously has no free capacities, intellectual or factual, to deal with this new Sino-Russian alliance – that’s not a priority, it seems.

How pathetic we actually are is best exemplified by the week-long wail about how cruel it is not to evacuate the 200 cats and dogs from Afghanistan, from a shelter run by a Brit and that it’s all the fault of the MoD  (e.g. link).

It is beyond belief that at a time like this animal-rights activists – some being ‘friends of Carrie’ – here in the UK are bombarding the Defence Secretary with an antisocial meejah campaign (link), lapped up by our MSM. Do they, do the MSM think this makes us look caring in the eyes of the world? Do they think this’ll give Russia and China something to think about?

On the same page in this morning’s DM we find another wail – this time from a SKY reporter who blames the MoD for having evacuated him – sorry: for having kicked him out (link). I can well imagine the outcry had that reporter or had those cats and dogs  been wounded in the Kabul Airport massacre! 

We certainly have our priorities right. If it’s not cats and dogs then it’s the NHS. GPs, who’ve been conspicuously absent since the start of lockdown are now going to have their absence rewarded, according to an ‘exclusive’ in the DT (paywalled link).

I’ll look at this in more detail tomorrow. After all, this is our money, shelled out via the NHS. “We” cannot afford to keep that triple lock on state pensions because a rise, thanks to wage increases, would be ‘unfair’ and “we” can’t afford this. “We” have however got the money to ‘reward GPs’ for increasing their online consultations …
