The Albert Hall – another bastion of patriotism sacrificed on the altar of woke

Will no one rid us of these meddlesome, ‘woke’ priestesses?  I’m paraphrasing Henry II because, thanks to ‘gender equality’, it’s laydees who are taking the axe to our institutions and culture, blatantly pushing the BLM ideology.

I’ll look at three items which had me fuming since yesterday: the BBC’s “Last Night at the Proms”, the British Library and ‘Our NHS’. It goes without saying that the broadsheets have again copied from each other.

Let’s start with ‘Our NHS’. It has taken five months for ‘Our MSM’ to report officially that ‘Our Sacred Cow’ told Care Homes to put out a blanket “DNR” (Do Not Resuscitate) notice on all their inmates (paywalled links here and here) This has been mentioned in local papers and on blogs such as Lockdown Sceptics ages ago.

What is infuriating isn’t just the fact that this was put into place by ‘Trust Staff’, not by staff in those care homes, nor that this was also applied to those with what is coyly called ‘learning difficulties’, it’s this:

“Staff also warned that some hospitals were operating a ‘no admissions’ policy for care home residents – even for non-Covid-19 conditions such as heart attacks – and some said they had struggled to make appointments with GPs for elderly people.” (paywalled link)

I apologise to all the good GPs and doctors out there – I understand that they’ve been told not to speak out in public. However, I have to say that a large number of them seems to have broken their Oath by letting managers, not clinicians, make such life-and-death decisions. That some are even unwilling to treat patients with non-Covid illnesses just because they’re in a care home is unforgivable!

There’s another piece to put into the Post-Covid Madness puzzle. It shows clearly how government, in the form of Hancock, is going to sell mass testing, aiming to test four million people a day from next year onwards. It’s to catch all those ‘asymptomatic’ CV-19 lepers:

“Matt Hancock […] has contracted Deloitte as consultants to help develop a mass testing regime that would identify asymptomatic carriers of the coronavirus, most of whom are currently missed by the current test and tracing. Such mass testing would allow ministers to see exactly where outbreaks are and stop infected people unknowingly spreading it. Mr Hancock also sees it as a critical to easing remaining restrictions on businesses and meeting family and friends.” (paywalled link)

Leaving aside the point that we peasants will have to pay astronomical fees to a management consultancy, we’re now being fed the next reason to comply with post-covid madness edicts: get tested or it’ll be your fault when local businesses collapse!

But if we comply like good little sheep, letting ourselves be tested regardless – will our GPs even look at us when we come down with something else? Who knows if an elderly person needing to go to hospital might not end up in the mortuary, thanks to ‘DNR’? How do we know that doctors or GPs are basing their decisions on clinical data and not on the latest covid-edicts given out by NHS managers?

And so to the BBC and the ‘Last Night at the Proms’. The Times reported yesterday that:

“The BBC is discussing whether to drop Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory from the Last Night of the Proms in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement. The traditional anthems are hugely popular with the flag-waving prommers who ordinarily cram into the Royal Albert Hall, but organisers fear a backlash because of their perceived association with colonialism and slavery.” (link, paywalled)

You really couldn’t make this up! And do note how the sloppy language used in that report implies that the Prommers might be ‘perceived’ to be associated with ‘colonialism and slavery’ because they love these ‘popular anthems’.

This jaw-dropping report was dutifully picked up by the DT in yesterday’s late afternoon. They’re not even hiding that they’re regurgitating what The Times published. Apparently, they’ve not been able to find a BBC spokesperson to deny or reaffirm that the BBC is trying to run the Proms in support of BLM. That doesn’t outrage either The Times or the DT! Instead, the reason given is … Covid! See this:

“This year’s concerts will be performed by a smaller orchestra, and without a live audience. Jan Younghusband, the head of BBC music TV commissioning, confirmed that the performance of Rule Britannia was under review. “We have a lot of problems about how many instruments we can have. It is hard to know whether it is physically possible to do [Rule, Britannia!]” she told the Sunday Times. “Some of the traditional tunes, like Jerusalem, are easier to perform … We also don’t know if we’ll be in a worse situation in two weeks’ time.” (paywalled link)

‘Rule Britannia’ was composed 250 or so years ago – it doesn’t need a huge modern orchestra! No – this is about BLM, about ‘woke culture’, about cancelling the musical oiks who wave the Union Jack!

Well, if there’s no live audience anyway, why would anyone want to watch whatever the BBC and the mostly female protagonists are going to replace it with! And yes – this is driven by women:

“Dalia Stasevska, 35, from Finland, who is conducting the Last Night, is among those said to be keen to modernise the evening’s repertoire and reduce the patriotic elements. A BBC source said: “Dalia is a big supporter of Black Lives Matter and thinks a ceremony without an audience is the perfect moment to bring change.” (link, paywalled)

She is conferring with the South African soprano who would have to perform ‘Rule Britannia’, both being “concerned about how to strike a sombre tone during a global pandemic and how to respond to the ongoing debates over race equality”. Oh yes, let’s all go about in sackcloth and ashes because of BAME and Covid!

This is how it used to be done (it might cheer you up!) – and that’s why the woke BBC wants to scrap it! Here’s the woke reason for silently also dropping “Land of Hope and Glory”, another of our favourite, patriotic songs:

“Edward Elgar wrote the music to “Land of Hope and Glory” and Arthur Benson added the lyrics in 1902, extolling the virtues of empire. They were said to be inspired by Cecil Rhodes, who left a fortune plundered from southern Africa.” (link, paywalled)

Yep – ‘tis because of ‘Empire’ and ‘Rhodes’, so un-woke! Meanwhile, the outgoing BBC Director General will give a speech today, as reported in both broadsheets, with The Times copying the DT this time. Do take some tranquilisers now, before reading this:

“Britain needs the BBC more than ever to promote the country’s “voice and values” after Brexit, Lord Hall will claim on Monday. […] The BBC needs more taxpayers’ money to combat a “second pandemic” of fake news spread by Russia and China, he will claim.” (paywalled link)

Words simply fail me! Not a penny for this woke organisation which is trampling our culture into the dust and which is now even trying to eradicate songs that have stirred us in the darkest times!

The BBC is in ‘good company’, though. The British Library, the deposit of all things published in Great Britain, is now also going ‘woke’:

“Internal emails reveal a policy-guiding staff group claimed racial “colour blindness” and believing mankind is “one human family” are examples of “covert white supremacy”. As an “anti-racist” antidote to perceived prejudice, resources disseminated at the library urge employees to give money to Black Lives Matter and support the work of Diane Abbott, the Labour politician. White staff also asked “fellow white colleagues” to educate themselves with a reading list covering their purported racial privilege, and the works of Marxist authors.” (paywalled link)

Some Tory MPs are now demanding the British Library should lose taxpayers’ funding when they were informed that:

“Leadership at the library, which receives more than £92 million in funding from the Government, declared in July that the institution would become an “actively” anti-racist organisation following feedback from staff. Members of the Bame Network, which helped compile material seen by this newspaper, will now lead a working group steering the library’s future approach to race.” (paywalled link)

We are paying for our national library to become ‘woke’. We are paying for our patriotic songs which have cheered millions to be scrapped because: ‘woke’. We are paying for not being treated by our GPs and ‘Our NHS’. Are you angry yet?

As for Brexit – well, Gove is working hard on it, but note this little piece of info, slipped in, surreptitiously:

“[Gove spends] the bulk of his time preparing for a no-deal departure. The latest talks between Lord Frost, the UK’s lead negotiator, and Michel Barnier, his EU counterpart, made no progress last week.” (link, paywalled)

So David Frost has been ‘created Baron Frost of Allenton in the County of Derbyshire’ – on August 12th 2020 (link). That has totally slipped past me – I guess I’m not the only one …

I leave you with news that our dear Mandarins have been busy, drawing up plans for a ‘worst-case scenario’:

“An emergency blueprint for responding to a no-deal Brexit coinciding with a sharp rise in coronavirus infections has been drawn up at Whitehall. The plans include deploying the army to the streets to help police manage public disorder and sending the navy to sea to prevent clashes between British and EU fishing boats, according to The Sun on Sunday.” (link, paywalled)

Nothing about illegal immigrants – they’ll probably stay in France during the harsh autumn and winter weather. I do wonder though what sort of ‘public disorder’ those mandarins are envisaging. Hordes of muzzle-wearing Remainers clashing with muzzle-refusenik Brexiteers?

Perhaps singing “Rule Britannia” and “Land of Hope and Glory” in public will now become a public order offense?

Never mind – it’ll all be paid for by us peasants!

KBO!
