Roaring with anger, getting ready to attack: the British Lion
The Nation is aghast and furious: BJ has cancelled Christmas even though a few days ago he told the Nation that this would be inhumane. We can now call him ‘inhumane’ and it’s not hate speech because this came out of his own mouth. Who spoke last to BJ – the unholy you V & W? Hancock? Someone else? We know by now that BJ does what the last person he speaks to tells him to do and never mind what he proclaimed earlier.
I’ll not bore you with the various opinion pieces and editorials in our papers: the authors have as much covid-knowledge as we all do, simply because this is a new virus about which nothing was known. Therefore, nothing much was there to be studied and they as well as we started from level zero.
In contrast to the MSM authors we however have been reading papers and articles by sceptic scientists, we were listening to podcasts or watching videos with open minds. We weren’t tied to editorial guidelines which clearly determined how ‘Our MSM’ have been reporting on covid since this ‘pandemic’ started nearly a year ago. I surely don’t need to remind you that the best source for proper covid ‘news’ is Lockdown Sceptics. Their Newsletter for today (link) is no exception.
Now let’s look at the “reason” for scrapping our Christmas which BJ, V & W have presented us with. Let’s look at some ‘details’ which certain authors dripped into their articles. They provide us with an excellent basis from which to ask ‘why’, from which to criticise the ‘scientific reasoning’ used by the Covid mafia to try and clobber us into submission. The following quotes are from the mouths of the three horses, the prime horse first:
“The prime minister said he understood how important Christmas was to people, but warned that without action “infections would soar, hospitals would become overwhelmed, and many thousands more would lose their lives. He said: “When the virus changes its method of attack, we must change our method of defence. And as your prime minister, I sincerely believe there is no alternative open to me.” (link, paywalled)
Note the use of ‘would -would -would’: it’s a projection, there is no evidence. As for saying out loud that the virus has ‘changed its method of attack’ is so scientifically inane that words simply fail me. It’s still covid, mutation or not, and the ‘method of defence’ is the same we’ve been clobbered with since March: lockdowns. Now see the second horse:
“The chief medical officer for England, Chris Whitty, said the mutant strain did not appear to cause higher death rates or be any more resistant to Covid-19 vaccines but was up to 70% more infectious.” (link, paywalled)
For ‘more infectious’ read: more PCR test results. We surely know by now that ‘case numbers’ are not ‘dying in our hospitals’. We surely know by now that this mutant has been around since September. Have the test labs been told to look out for this mutant since September – and only ‘found’ it in the past couple of weeks? Some infectiousness, that! The BMJ, not exactly a source of ‘antiscience covid conspiration’, has published a summary regarding this mutant which you might like to read here. Lastly, here’s the third horse:
“This [new variant] is a particular constellation of changes, which we think is important,” said Sir Patrick. He added that there was “no evidence” the new strain was more virulent but there were “theoretical reasons” to suggest it may alter the human immune response.” (paywalled link)
Why, a perplexed and angry peasant might ask, do we need to cancel Christmas when scientists, even the government’s own scientists, say that there’s no evidence that ‘we’re gonna die’ from this new mutant? Here’s a rather interesting quote regarding mortality, from the deputy director-general of the European Bioinformatics Institute in Cambridge, Ewan Birney, who told the DT that: “he did not think it likely the new strain would impact on mortality.” (paywalled link). Indeed, there’s no excess death as EuroMOMO documents. For their latest graph of UK data, scroll down here. Are these official data unknown to the PM and his health czar? Words fail me!
Old cynic that I am, I think that there’s one main reason for this inhumane decision to rob us of our Christmas. It’s to ‘nudge’ us into accepting mass vaccination. After all, if “we” want an end to these draconian covid measures, all we have to do is get vaccinated. Even the mutant strain doesn’t mean we shouldn’t clamour to get that jab.
The third horse said so, and there’s a supporting, warbly opinion piece in The Times, praising the vaccines and vaccination under the shouty headline “Vaccine is only weapon against perfect pathogen” (link, paywalled). This was penned by a professor of immunology at Imperial College London – the Ferguson place. So forgive me when my reaction was ‘he would have to say that’. There’s more, again by a professor of immunology at Ferguson’s place, a Professor Altmann, who told the DT:
”As far as I can see this [spread of the mutant] greatly strengthens the case for all to get vaccinated as soon as possible: the vaccines induce neutralising antibodies to several parts of spike (‘epitopes’) and most of these would be unchanged by the mutations – so the vaccines will still work.” (paywalled link)
There it is: vaccination will work, it’ll ‘defeat’ the virus, mutated or not. ‘Teh Science’ has spoken.
Finally, there’s a truly cynical explanation for the scrapping of Christmas in the DT, by their ‘global health editor, Mr Nuki, from whom we’ve not heard for some time. After explaining why poor BJ could do no other, he writes:
“Almost every year British hospitals fill up in the weeks following Christmas threatening a crisis in the NHS. This is caused by a range of factors […] but a large part of it is dictated by Christmas itself and the rules of contagion. A paper published early this month in the Journal of Infection describes how pneumonia in older groups is associated with holiday periods. It suggests that children and young people catch respiratory infections in the run-up to Christmas and pass it to older groups who come down with pneumonia a few weeks later. The same is likely to be true of Covid.” (paywalled link)
Words fail me – again! Actually, I am speechless. Yes, we all recall the annual wails from ‘Our NHS’ after every Christmas, about being unable to cope. Why then did we not have lockdowns, why did we not have our Christmases cancelled in previous years, all the way down to the foundation of “Our NHS” in 1948? Was ‘Our Sacred Cow’ not worthy of protection in those years?
What has changed? Has covid totally impaired rational thought in our governing classes, even that of the government scientists? Why is it that vaccination has suddenly become the be-all and end-all of covid treatment? Why have doctors suddenly abandoned the principle of prophylaxis, i.e. prevention by early treatment? Is it because they can’t control what many of us plebs are already doing to protect ourselves, for example taking Vitamin D?
Here’s another thought. We remember that ‘Test & Trace’ has been the preferred government instrument of ‘controlling’ the virus and that the best ‘test’ is PCR. Never mind the many articles showing that the ‘case numbers’ produced by this method are giving false pictures due to the many false positives. Now however the WHO – the organisation which has pushed T & T on the world, has come up with a disclaimer. LockdownSceptics reports:
“The World Health Organisation has issued a medical alert drawing attention to the limitations of PCR tests and reminding users that for clinical diagnosis an examination of symptoms is required” (link)
In my view – I’m only a lowly, retired scientist so what do I know – this could mean that we’ll see a retreat from the ‘test & trace’ control. Our health czars would then need another control instrument – and lo and behold, here it is: mass vaccination. Look at the timing: the various mRNA vaccines have now been approved here and in the USA. The EU is still shuffling papers but will follow. Who will now believe the various statements by politicians that there won’t be mandatory vaccinations or ‘vaccine passports’ …!
But that’s for the future. While people are already saying that they won’t let their Christmas be cancelled and won’t follow that rule, there’s one aspect which bodes badly for our political future. BJ rushed this announcement out after he’d sent Parliament into their Christmas recess. MPs had no way or means to scrutinise this decision, never mind the ‘promise’ of Hancock. The Tory ‘Covid Rebels’ have now
“called for the latest changes to the rules to be put to a vote in Parliament at the “earliest opportunity”, even if doing so meant recalling MPs just days after they rose for the Christmas recess.” (paywalled link)
Sir John Redwood also chimed in, in his Diary this morning:
“Parliament needs to debate and vote on these measures. It appears Parliament will have another chance to debate and vote on these controls only later in the new year.” (link)
What good is scrutiny when it only comes ‘after the fact’? What good is scrutiny when the Tory rebels have already swallowed the ‘belief’ that mass vaccination is the only ‘way out’? Why are they not asking the relevant questions, about PCR tests, about ‘case numbers’, about evidence for excess deaths? Yes, words fail me again!
It is obvious to me that “we” unruly peasants are being given what amounts to a preemptive punishment by this inhumane cancellation of Christmas. It’s meant to make us even more submissive. Muzzle wearing is no longer sufficient – ”we” must get the jab if we want to celebrate Christmas in 2021.
Where are the MPs who surely must remove this PM now? Cowering at home, behind their Zooms? Playing with their WhatsApp? Or are they hiding to let us, the people, take the initiative even as protesters keep getting beaten up by police, without one murmur of a voice raised from those allegedly representing us?
I’ve been fewmin with anger, for hours. I’ve been spitting feathers while bouncing off the walls in fury. That’s why words fail me!
KBO!

Viv you are not on your own I have been spitting feathers too and so have most rational people. Family won’t visit but friends are coming for Christmas day. Go figure as they say. I am hoping for a political tsunami in the New Year it’s the only thing stopping this very small drinker hitting the bottle.
Thank you, Lisa – and if it’s a consolation – not a recommendation, mind – this would drive even a non-drinker to the bottle.
Don’t worry about it, there WILL be a political tsunami in the New Year. Boris Johnson committed political suicide by placing much of the country in Tier 3 a couple of weeks ago and increased Kent for instance from Tier 1 to Tier 3 at a stroke. He has now sealed his political fate by increasing much of the South East to Tier 4, and to cap it all that prize plum Matt Hancock has compounded it today by announcing that this large area might be in Tier 4 for months, yes months. I once thought that the Conservative Party stood for business and keeping the economy in good shape, but that notion is well and truly in the past. It is one thing to confine the population behind closed doors, but quite another in effectively closing the economy down as well. How will these businesses large and small cope being forced into closure for months on end, the answer is that they wont, and will not resurface at the other end, if indeed there is an other end at all. This will undoubtedly cause catastrophic unemployment on a scale which we have never seen before. It is indeed a frightening scenario, and this government headed by Johnson and Hancock seem to think this it is a worthwhile proposition. Well, there will be consequences for this government and the Conservative Party as a whole, and that will inevitably start in May 2021 at the local elections. Much of their traditional vote will emigrate to other parties, and this has process has already started. Some councilors are talking in terms of defecting to up and coming parties which will take the place of the Conservatives on the centre right So yes, that tsunami is coming and is gathering pace right now.
UK Column said Friday (towards end of broadcast) that the elections for Police Commissioner were particularly vital. The present incumbents in various parts of the country are particularly unsavoury and need challenging. The way some of them have waged vicious war on inoffensive members of the public is appalling.
What a tonic all this is. I am surrounded by females scared f**tless by all the 24/7 brainwashing to the extent that any mention/ questioning of the response to Kung Flu is best suppressed.
Dear Viv,
‘Where are the MPs who surely must remove this PM now? Cowering at home, behind their Zooms? Playing with their WhatsApp? Or are they hiding to let us, the people, take the initiative even as protesters keep getting beaten up by police, without one murmur of a voice raised from those allegedly representing us?
I’ve been fewmin with anger, for hours. I’ve been spitting feathers while bouncing off the walls in fury. That’s why words fail me!’
This sounds more like ranting than reporting. UKIP is a political Party still with some standing, representing our membership. A few succinct words in the national media, pointing the direction of travel for Britain at this confusing time would work wonders rather than hopping mad in the privacy of our daily newsletter, where every member and reader are in accord with your sentiments.
Whatever made you bring UKIP into this, Jean? It’s two years since this site became independent and non-partisan!
As for accusing me of ‘ranting and not reporting’ – I hope you understand that this daily column of mine comes under ‘opinion piece’, not under ‘report’.
I quote from the MSM – generally the paywalled ones to which readers have no easy access – to illustrate, with sources given, what the chatterati who drive politics in this country talk about. Forgive me if yesterday’s cancelling of Christmas made me angry – as angry as many other people up and down the country. Why shouldn’t we be?
And btw – not being a member of UKIP, it’s not for me to speak for them. How and especially why do you think it’s my task to place ‘a few succinct words’ in the MSM? Does UKIP not have a PR secretary who should do this?
Oh – and ‘privacy of our daily newsletter’ – what privacy? This site is open to all, to read and comment. This site has no ‘members’. Nor are readers ‘in accord’ with my sentiments – they may be today, but so are millions of others who don’t read this site but who express those same sentiments any way they can, even in the heavily moderated comment sections under the articles were it’s permitted.
Forgive me, but I suggest with all due respect that you’ve got this site, the readers, the authors and especially the purpose of this place wrong. Perhaps take another look at our masthead where it says: ‘independent’ and ‘for grassroots’. Thats’ what we’ve been standing for for two years.
And yes, the grassroots are angry, furious and indeedd hopping mad. Nothing wrong with that, on this day, is there!
Well said Viv! (Your answer to Jean Romsey.)
Thank you, Pauline!
+ 1. I concur
UKIP, a party with some standing. Don’t make me laugh, its a mere shadow of what it was. It has very little standing at all, and still there remaining councilors continue to defect to other parties. I am given to understand that its current membership is less than 4,000, down from 45,000 In case you hadn’t noticed The Brexit Party took over UKIP’s mantle in 2018, and now other parties are coming to the fore that will make UKIP even more irrelevant than it is now.
Quite so Colin, and UKIP has lost most of its funds as well through failed legal proceedings, brought by its NEC against Richard Braine last year. Legal proceedings that were likely to fail from the outset. It’s almost as if some UKIP bigwigs were trying to bankrupt the party. Makes you wonder what’s going on.
Yes Viv. He does whatever he was told to do by the last person that spoke to him.
I.M.O. He is quite simply a COWARD.
Oddly enough though I don’t think he means to be a bully. Most cowards are.
So near the end of the transition period for Brexit. If we can just get that done W.T.O., well I don’t think I care what happens to any of them after that. Chuck ’em all in the deepest ditch.
Bravo Pauline. We won’t owe them any minute gratitude since their party and the opposition got us into this mess in the first place and Tories have spent nearly five years making a cringing pig’s ear of getting us out. The shame is eating my soul.
Lies, more lies and damned lies; all government has to offer. Sadly too many are willing to believe them. I wait with bated breath as the month end approaches. Will we be free of EU control or not?
Hot advice from a retired GP “friend of a fiend” this morning
Attending church service this morning would be “reckless”
And no doubt mass roll-out of a brand experimental-technology vaccine developed in record time (by cutting all the corners and indemnifying the manufacturers) to the old & vulnrble (and easily bullied/brainwashed/controlled) elderly is carefully considered and supremely cautious.
UK Column looked into the “qualifications” of some of the trash pushing this jab. One of them had only a qualification as a vet. A horse doctor, As UK Col said, just shows how much in complete contempt they hold the populace; we’re just animals to them
Trouble is, so many dimwits who wear muzzles in the street and swallow all the lies aren’t much more intelligent…….
The upside is the Viv’s of this world, the real bulldog warhorses !
Stuff their filthy vaccine where the sun dont shine and get the whole lot of parasite politicians by the scruff of the neck and clean ’em off the face of the earth
Oooh: a bulldog warhorse! I love it!
Perhaps some of our gifted readers could create a cartoon of a warhorse with a bulldog face? We could then use it as mascot, as badge for all our readers and writers: bulldog warhorses one and all!
I sincerely hope I’m included in that description. What a superb mental image!
Of course you are! How could you ever doubt it!
🙂
Of course you are Debbie, it goes without saying !
🙂
“When the virus changes its method of attack, we must change our method of defence.”
Fat bar-steward.
Mmm. Speaking as an electrical engineer, my understanding is that corona viruses have, thus far, all displayed a pronounced propensity to evolve. Hence I’d like to aver that this would also apply to this new corona virus that was made in COMMUNIST China.
I’ve also read in the past that we don’t have a vaccine for the common cold [a corona virus] BECAUSE they change so quickly, thus rendering any vaccine INNEFECTIVE.
Is THAT why we have Christmas cancelled and this huge smokescreen going on?
They wouldn’t want us saying “Since the virus has changed already, what is the point of a vaccine” now would they?
Divert! Divert! Divert!
People in high places being paid to not understand and being paid to persuade the general public to not understand?
Running a massive diversion AND cancelling Christmas. I believe they have a saying for this in Communist China.
It’s a Win Win.
Or so they might think. Christ is King.
Yes Michael Keal. Totally agree.
As you say Michael K, the vaccines are likely to be rendered ineffective as the Covid-19 virus mutates. But the vaccines don’t have to be very effective anyway, because Covid-19 kills about one in fifty of the people it infects, if that. Almost all of the people it has killed were already either very ill or very old, or both.
Ignore it all. The Govt’s policy is complete and utter bollox. Happy Christmas. I hope you all have the strength of character to spend it with whoever you want to, wherever you want to.
Lost for words or not you have produced the perfect oxymoron: “rational thought in our governing classes”
How many cycles are used in the UK’s PCR tests?
JF
Mmm . . . Bit like ‘artificial intelligence’ isn’t it Julian.
And in my crazy mixed up brain I just thought the peremptory closure of parliament had something to do with getting them out of the way for Brexit surrender purposes.
I’ll still bet a Brexit extension and Covid lockdown will be tied up some way.,
Will Frost be detached from Brexit and called in to man the pumps to save us from Covid drowning?
Tbh I’m in a kind of Zen state of mind these days and let most of it go over my head. I have been sceptical about the TPTB’s reaction to this since Feb and have long since ignored the increasingly unjustifiable diktats and will continue to do so. I spoke with my family when they Duo-ed me to tell me of Fathead’s latest authoritarian psycho babblings and we all agreed to meet up as we going to before and travel hither and thither across this great Medical Dictatorship of ours. I may have to resort to single tracks if the Stasi erect roadblocks. The Tier4 rules also conveniently free up the SE motorways for all the lorries held up at Dover by EU intransigence and Civil Serpent footdragging.
