Wild Boar, hunted by humans and Neanderthals

It’s the silly season and proper news – not those from Tokyo 2020 – have suddenly become rare.  In the vast open and empty plains that are the MSM one nevertheless can sometimes detect gems, hidden under the poisonous weeds called ‘news’ which seem to crop up in a day and then wither. 

So, while I ponder the unbearable intellectual snobbism of the truly ‘elite’ journalists who even now can see nothing at all wrong in enforcing ‘vaccination’ on everybody, I found two gems which I’m sure you’ll enjoy as much as I did. Remember: “we” must follow ‘Teh Science’as reported by ‘science, health, environment reporters’, from covid to green blobbery and it’s they who’ve produced those gems.

The first article which caught my eye, as it was intended to, combined the words ‘sex with humans’ and ‘killed off Neanderthals’ in the headline “Sex with humans caused anaemia that helped to kill off Neanderthals, say researchers” (link, paywalled). Under that juicy headline we read that researchers had 

“analysed the blood types of three Neanderthals and found that they were particularly susceptible to a blood disorder that left their babies with anaemia that could prove fatal. The condition, called “haemolytic disease of the foetus and newborn”, or HDFN, is often worse in second and subsequent pregnancies and would have limited the number of offspring Neanderthals could have, reducing their “reproductive success”.” (link, paywalled)

The ordinary reader would of course have loved to know where those scientists found three Neanderthals to analyse their blood. We’re not told, nor are we told how the researchers did their analysis. After all, that sort of technical detail would probably be too esoteric even for the readers of The Times, so steeped in ‘covid science’ that they never question the blatantly distorted numbers, never mind ‘Teh Science’ which has locked us down and which is the driving force in restructuring our society. 

I’ll just mention in passing that surely even Mr Finkelstein of The Times must wonder, somewhere in the back of his mind, why it is that suddenly the whole lot of the political leaders, from Biden and BJ to Macron and the still reigning Merkel, are so hell-bent on forcing jabs on their populations. Funny how they never explain why the jabbed ones still must wear masks. Funny how they never explain why ‘cases’ are rising and falling like jojos when so many are double-jabbed.

Asking such questions makes one a dangerous ideologue, a cultist even, according to Mr Finkelstein’s Editorial today where he indulges himself in some cod psychology, belittling everyone who took part in Saturday’s freedom rallies. He ends his essay thus::

“The most serious threats from this new movement are widespread disinformation (mostly pseudoscience) and violence. A determined culture of countering disinformation — as embraced by the BBC and by this newspaper in employing specialist data journalists — is more useful even than social media takedowns. It just needs to be spread. The violence I don’t have an easy answer for. Certainly we should be intolerant of language that incites hatred and we have to hope the police and security services have their eye on this new ball.” (link, paywalled)

This is the iron totalitarian fist hidden under the velvet glove of what nowadays is regarded as gentle intellectualism, just about acceptable for Westminster village denizens. It’s the refined argument for ‘do as you’re told by us and the BBC’ – everything else is cultism and the language police will get you.

But back to the Neanderthals who had sex with humans. It’s only in the article’s last paragraph where at least some of the secret is sort-of lifted:

“The paper, entitled ‘Blood Groups of Neanderthals and Denisova Decrypted’ and published in the journal PLoS One, concluded that their findings “reinforce the notion of high inbreeding, weak demography and endangered reproductive success of the late Neanderthals, giving to our species the great opportunity to spread throughout the world”. Yay! Weak and feeble Neanderthals shouldn’t have had sex with humans! But wait – weren’t those early humans, like, well, colonialists and worse? Still, the article doesn’t describe how the researchers actually did their research. One can only assume that this particular ‘Science Reporter’ didn’t actually understand what and how had been done – but hey, ‘sex with humans’ as killer of Neanderthals: juicy, innit!

The pity is that this paper looks really interesting – you can look it up here where you’ll find that this research was based on screening genomes available at a Genome Project website. Sorry, they didn’t go out and dug up old bones nor did they find live Neanderthals for blood analysis. I suppose that writing this up properly would’ve been too dry even for readers of The Times who want their ‘science’ in juicy, easy bits as much as readers of Red Tops do.

And so to the wild boars. This is bad news for climate alarmists – and bad news for wild boars:

“Scientists studied the spread of wild pigs across five continents to produce the first assessment of their carbon impact. They calculated that the animals, numbering several million, were uprooting an area of about 14,000 to 48,000 square miles in countries where they were not native. They estimated that their digging released an estimated 4.9 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide annually across the globe, the equivalent of 1.1 million cars.” (link, paywalled)

Oh dear! What a conundrum – save the wild boar and ditch more cars? And what about previous ‘climate change events’? After all, wild boar were here before humans, no? Never mind that there are other wild animals – native or not – digging up the soil in search for food. Funny that the researchers – or the ‘environmental reporter’ didn’t mention that.

I can’t help but wonder if the label ‘not native’ contains a hint of wokery: surely these wild boar must be colonialists and therefore bad? Never mind – this is is serious because those wild boar release carbon into the atmosphere and:

“since soil contains nearly three times as much carbon than in the atmosphere, even a small fraction of carbon emitted from soil has the potential to accelerate climate change.” (link, paywalled).

Crikey – if wild boar release so much CO2 by ‘ploughing through fields’, how much more is released by farmers plowing their fields? No – don’t ask! Wild boar need to be ‘controlled’ because, according to those researchers, they

“[…] also had other negative effects, including preying on endangered species, damaging farmland and spreading diseases.” (link, paywalled)

Omigawd: wild boar are ‘disease spreaders’, how dreadful! We can’t have that, -not when we’re battling the deadly ‘bat flu’. Those wild boar might even harbour other dreadful viruses! Shocking!

And then the authors polish their green, CO2-reducing credentials when they suggest that those pigs need to be controlled by hunting, but warn that

“using vehicles to hunt them or building barriers to contain them also produced emissions, reducing the carbon benefits of limiting their numbers.” (link, paywalled)

Oh dear. Better start making reproductions of those medieval boar-hunting spears and breed hunting dogs! Oh wait – don’t dogs also carry diseases and eat, oh horror, flesh? Perhaps they can eat the flesh of the wild boar they’ve helped to kill …

Ah well – it’s the silly season and nothing should surprise us when we glance across those wide, arid pixel plains that are the MSM. However, once we delve into the stuff presented to us by the various ‘science, health, environment’ editors and reporters in our MSM we understand why they and all those covid lemmings, even unto BJ and Mr Finkelstein, are dazzled by the ‘covid science’ as perpetuated by the SAGEs and their acolytes.

They may be ‘experts’ in political shenanigans and ideology but they are science illiterates and, sadly, too lazy to think for themselves. After all, it’s easier to accuse us of being ideologues and cultists.
