Give one of these salutes to SAGE, the new puritans

 

When is an elected government incapable of governing? When powerful, unelected and unaccountable government bodies brief against it. When is ‘freedom’ not freedom? When the covid government proclaims ‘Freedom Day’. When is a ‘new strict immigration law’ no such thing? When the Home Office needs to ask the French for permission to implement it.

BJ yesterday proclaimed ‘Freedom Day’, announcing a ‘bonfire’ of covid restrictions, to the jubilation of the covid MSM. However, the SAGEs are having none of it, already warning that the autumn will become very very bad and every restriction must stay in place.

In a move which can only be described as briefing against the PM, SAGE ‘released’ papers yesterday urging BJ to keep e.g. muzzle wearing and WFH in place, regardless. The strange thing is that some of those papers are dated back to April this year. Others are not dated at all. 

I knew SAGE would try something – they must have been horrified beyond belief when they saw the footie fans celebrating the England victories: no masks, no social distancing, fans celebrating in towns and cities where there were big screens. That’s why I expected them to produce something because joy is anathema to these new puritans.

The DT has some quotes which demonstrate yet again that SAGE is about keeping us under their boot, of curtailing any joy we might find in the semblance of freedom BJ announced yesterday:

“One undated paper warns that “it is highly likely that transmission will increase in autumn and winter”. It says: “The healthcare burden of other infections through the year is also an important consideration. This may mean stronger measures may be desirable for autumn and winter.” […] The Sage documents say that “there is significant risk in allowing prevalence to rise, even if hospitalisations and deaths are kept low by vaccination. If it were necessary to reduce prevalence to low levels again … then restrictive measures would be required for much longer”. (paywalled link)

It’s well known that autumn and winter always bring sniffles and coughs, the respiratory illnesses which are transmitted by a host of respiratory viruses, most of them corona viruses. SAGE seems to think all those transmissions should be prevented, that the whole country must become as virus-free as a high-security bio-laboratory.

Here’s another quote which shows that SAGE isn’t even pretending to take into account that most people will have had all the jabs needed, come autumn:

“Keeping such measures could cut transmission by as much as a quarter, the minutes suggest, warning that “lifting restrictions may re-create the conditions for ‘superspreader’ events”. It says these could be “both person-driven (one highly infectious but possibly asymptomatic person going to multiple places) and setting-driven (nightclubs, religious events where crowding is experienced, low ventilation, loud activities etc).” (paywalled link)

SAGE seems to be convinced that the jabs aren’t working after all – else why warn of ‘super-spreaders’? And what the fluff do they mean by ‘loud activities’? Parties which ought to be forbidden? How puritanical!

The SAGE behaviouralists are of course demanding that coercive restrictions like mask wearing should be kept in place – no surprise there. But finally, here’s why SAGE wants our lives kept under strict control:

“An undated paper considering which measures are likely to be needed “beyond the end of the roadmap” includes a section on “the need for ongoing measures”. It says these would “significantly decrease ongoing transmission” and adds it is “notable” that countries such as New Zealand that have near-zero Covid retained measures such as the wearing of masks on public transport.” (paywalled link)

Oh dear. Is it really necessary to point out that Great Britain is not = New Zealand? Clearly, if SAGE had their way, we’d be required to be kept confined until they can achieve their dream of ‘zero covid’. Do these ‘great scientists’ really think that this is biologically achievable? Words fail me! They really do not want to let go of their power to keep us strangled, fearful, submissive.

BJ himself has already caved in, not only by permitting businesses and shops to set their own muzzle-policies but by keeping the destructive T&T quarantine rules in place. Even those who’ve had both those wonderful jabs must still observe the NHS-T&T quarantine, regardless (link).

Will we now see self-appointed muzzle ‘wardens’ telling people off because they might be ‘pinged’ by T&T and thus make ever so many ‘contacts’ go into enforced quarantine? If it can happen to the Duchess of Cambridge it can happen to anybody.

That’s why freedom isn’t freedom – because SAGE and covid cowards, from BJ all the way down, will see to it that it doesn’t really happen.

And so to the fabulous new, ‘strict’ immigration Bill which Priti will reveal today. You’ve got to give it to the Home Office mandarins: they’ve told us for days that it’s coming, and Priti has even written an article for the DM about this – link, if you really must …!

They’ve made a big hullabaloo about how border farce agents will have the power to ‘board vessels’ – would those be the overloaded dinghies? – and arrest ‘people smugglers’. Do those mandarins really think those smugglers are sitting in each dinghy?

There’s more, and this is where we can see that this whole new Bill is piffle, hogwash – unworkable except in the minds of mandarins (my emphasis):

“The bill will give the legal powers needed to enable Border Force agents to intercept migrant boats crossing the Channel and redirect the vessels and individuals on board back to France. But they will require permission from the French authorities to do so.” (link, paywalled)

The mind boggles! I can just imagine the captain on the border force vessel radioing the French captain, asking if they can send those vessels back, please, Priti please …! Are mandarins and their ministers actually living in the real world? That’s a rhetorical question.

And finally: there’s an intriguing little vaccine snippet reported in The Times. It’s nothing to do with the ongoing kerfuffle over vaccine passports – will they, won’t they be introduced? They’re still not ‘ruled out’ (link, paywalled), to no-one’s surprise. No, this is about the Chinese jab.

Apparently the Seychelles used this vaccine and achieved a near 100% vaccination rate. Now however, they’re experiencing ‘the world’s highest proportion of new infections’. There’s worse: the President of the Seychelles, Mr Ramkalawan, says that ‘two thirds of those in hospital had not had the jab.’ (link, paywalled).

But – weren’t we told that nearly 100% of the Seychellians have had the jabs? Or was that propaganda pure and simple? Other countries who used the Chinese stuff – some Gulf states, Thailand, Indonesia – are also experiencing a rise in infections, with some doctors in Indonesia dying of covid despite having had that Chinese vaccine.

But don’t you believe these reports – they are simply dastardly concoctions produced by bad ‘western’ minds:

“Hua Chunying, a spokeswoman for the foreign ministry, told The Wall Street Journalthat such reporting in western media “exposes their unhealthy mindset of denigrating China at every turn”. (link, paywalled)

Yes – that must be it! It’s all down to dirty western politics, denigrating China. That is ‘unhealthy’ and best avoided. After all, China could stop sending us vital items such as precursors to drugs which we in the West no longer manufacture.

I think it’s fair to copy that Chinese spokeswoman and declare that the freedom robbers, the SAGEs and their willing helpers, are doing so because they have an ‘unhealthy mindset’, denigrating us, the British people, at every turn. 

Illegal immigrants are doing this on a daily basis, so why shouldn’t we give the puritanical SAGEs the two-fingered ‘Agincourt salute’ as well!
