Gossip: ‘Have you heard…? Everybody knows! It’s a fact!

Another romp through the news this morning (link), another morning where the ‘news’ demonstrate that we’ve elected untrustworthy, stupid seekers of personal attention to the HoC rather than the competent, experienced people as which they’ve tried to portrait themselves.  In times of turbulence like these, their character flaws come out like pimples on a face.

I’ll be generous though: it’s not just MPs who suffer from this weakness of “#MeFirstNow”. Our MSM writers suffer as well, and thanks to social media we find that so do the ‘politicians-in-waiting’, the various SpAds and research assistants. I am of course referring to that scandal of the porn-watching – allegedly – MP. More on that below.

I make no excuse for not not writing about the ongoing SMO in the Ukraine. I am no military expert and am as wary of the reports in the few Russian MSM outlets we can still access as I am of ours. If you want concise reports of what the Russian military did, then the site of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation is accessible here – in English.

It ought to be clear by now that we, the various western media types included, cannot know what really goes on, nor can the various excellent commentators and bloggers. Neither can we and they know what Messrs Putin and Shoigu are planning. There are various Russian journalists embedded with the Russian and LDPR troops publish their videos on social media, mostly on ‘telegram’ but also on Twitter. These are not ‘official’, but they are informative. “We” must of course disregard those because: “propaganda!”

However, here’s a strange thing: The Times – yes, that august paper! – has published a report today under the headline “Bloodied Briton is paraded on Moscow TV” (link, paywalled). That evokes that image of a poor, hapless Brit sitting under glaring studio lights, with military handlers at each side, handcuffed. In reality The Times showed a video clearly made in the battle zone, clearly made by one of those journalists but not by a production team, clearly made to be published on social media.

Was it really shown on ‘Moscow TV’? How should I, how should anyone know not living in Moscow! However, the fact that this video clip graced The Times and not a clip of the actual TV production tells me that our MS correspondents are obviously watching the relevant social media channels. They must therefore have the same information all others have who blog or comment about the SMO.

That none of this information, documenting the collapse of Ukrainian troops who’ve either died or surrendered, is making it into our MSM ‘reports’, demonstrates like nothing else their bias and that they are indeed just propaganda instruments of this government. That’s why none of them dares to ask why “we” are supporting this war, with money, weapons and indeed men. That is the true scandal. No amount of fabricated ‘outrage’ about some British mercenary having been wounded and taken POW in this fight can hide that.

Instead, our MSM are tickling our prurience with reports of  that ‘porn MP’ scandal. He was named and shamed yesterday evening. He’s now forever “‘Porn MP’ Neil Parish” and the DT for example tells us in their headline that he ”refuses to quit as he loses whip – MP for Tiverton and Honiton says he will continue to carry out duties as wife says: ‘It’s so stupid. He’s such a good person” (paywalled link). The DT also informs us that “He later suggested to reporters that he had opened pornographic material “in error” and apologised, saying he understood the upset caused.” (paywalled link).

What struck me is that the DT is working hard to portrait themselves as indefatigable investigative hacks who ‘got’ their man and forced the hands of the Tory whips, albeit with a bit of blackmail:

“It was only after being told of an imminent report by The Telegraph that the Tories removed the whip from Mr Parish, meaning he now sits as an independent MP in the Commons. Mr Parish was elected in 2010 and is the chairman of the environment, food and rural affairs committee – a position that means he is regarded as a “senior MP”.” (paywalled link)

Interesting, isn’t it, that he is being removed just at a time when food and food shortages are threatening. We’re of course not told who his ‘accusers’ are. Instead, our marvellous coterie of hen peacocks is on again about sexism and misogyny. The Speccie’s report last evening is indicative of this fake outrage:

“Women in parliament seem to be increasingly frustrated and prepared to speak out about their own experiences, including Anne-Marie Trevelyan. The International Trade Secretary today said that most of her female colleagues had been subjected to ‘wandering hands’, and that she herself had been pinned up against the wall by a male MP who is no longer in the House. This evening Procedure Committee chair Karen Bradley told Radio 4 that this could have an impact as big as the expenses scandal, arguing that ‘total disinfectant’ was needed to deal with it.” (Speccie email newsletter)

Oh dear. At a time when we’re sliding into war, at a time when our economy is driven hard against the wall, at a time when inflation is rampant, our female MPs would rather waste time on this stuff than on the issues which surely concern their constituents.

There’s also that Labour MP, Mr Liam Bryne, who has been accused of bullying and is being investigated by the Parliamentary ‘independent complaints and grievance scheme’. The accuser told ‘i news’ that this system doesn’t work because it didn’t protect his anonymity (link). I leave it to you to ask how come we need a system which permits accusers to remain anonymous. What are they scared of?

What does this tell us about the mental attitude prevailing in the Westminster swamp when ‘grievances’ and another “#MeToAsWellLikewiseAlso” campaign are deemed to outweigh the serious issues which face our nation! What does it tell us about those who’d rather waste time and money on issues which are utterly irrelevant to us!

I thought that normal people know by now that human beings, MPs included, have feet of clay. But wait: apparently we’re back to the times where MPs must have a shiny public image to maintain and are thus open to blackmail, from whips and colleagues to MSM hacks. I learned one other expression yesterday – thank you, Speccie (my emphasis):

“It’s also worth pointing out that the name circulating Westminster for most of yesterday was not Parish, meaning a lot of people have been pronouncing very confidently – and wrongly – on the identity of someone. It’s an example of what is known in the SW1 village as a ‘Westminster Fact’, where allegations are treated as being proven merely because ‘everyone knows about it’.” (Speccie email newsletter)

Let’s ask ourselves: how many gossipy ‘news’ from ‘sources’ have we been treated to by our MSM which turned out to be nought but ‘Westminster Facts’? Too many, I’d say! But that’s how we are governed in these dangerous times. And that’s why we, with the help of the incompetent MSM, are sliding into the abyss of inflation and possibly war.

At midnight today one third of 2022 are gone. Doesn’t time fly … So celebrate May Day tomorrow – the weather will be nice and we must store up lovely memories against the hard times to come.
