Why not ask Truss and Sunak about gun-running illegal immigrants
You know it’s summer and definitely the silly season where nothing really happens when the papers are suddenly having a ‘Princess Di’ moment. The gleeful headlines are about the BBC’s confession that they let her down with ‘that’ interview (link). Because of this ever so earth-shattering admission, several other reports were relegated to the insides of the beasts.
It is worth mentioning that only the ‘i’ has a Mordaunt piece on their front page. It shows the dire straits of the Tory Party. Their MPs, who’ve’ already shown their cowardice by going for the ‘continuity’ candidates Truss and Sunak and dumping Ms Badenoch, are only interested in keeping their trotters in the HoC trough:
“Penny Mordaunt’s supporters are orchestrating a “stop Liz Truss” campaign to ensure the bookies’ favourite does not win the race to become Prime Minister, i understands. The move is partly in response to anger over hostile media briefings against Ms Mordaunt, which her supporters blame on allies of Ms Truss. Moderate Tory MPs are plotting to return to their constituencies to lobby their members to back Rishi Sunak as leader amid concerns that a government run by Ms Truss will lose them their seats.” (link)
I expect more of the same, more reports about MPs and Tory grandees trying to coerce their constituency party members into voting as they tell them to. All of this just goes to show how much they despise us peasants, even those who’ve pledged support by becoming Party members. It’s as if authority over the voting plebs has accrued automatically to those who can now stick ‘MP’ after their name.
Let’s look at other news, for example the rather important report in the DM about Channel crossers now also smuggling arms into the country. The DM has understood that people prefer reading the headlines only, so theirs are always crammed with information:
“Channel migrants landed in Britain with GUNS: Asylum-seekers triggered alerts on security databases and later vanished… and others were ARMED, scathing official report by borders watchdog reveals” (link).
This is precisely what some reporters have warned would happen, ever since they wrote that many of the weapons so kindly donated by NATO countries to the Ukraine have vanished, i.e. sold on the black arms market. So now they’re here … but let’s not ask what our authorities are doing to protect us from possible violence should these ‘guests’ become dissatisfied when the energy crisis means blackouts and cold rooms even in their cushy hotel rooms.
The dirty little secret is that the Home Office and the police will prosecute all who ask such questions, for ‘racially aggravated hate rime’. They simply don’t have the time to go after those gun runners, so die already. You might also like to read the report on the ‘charity’ which is plainly nought but the friendly face of people traffickers (link).
I somehow doubt that the two wannabe PMs will address this issue, never mind even being asked about it. “We” must talk about that blue-on-blue dogfight instead. I wonder if other ‘economic’ issues will enter this debate, for example the report that Tata is threatening to close their Porthcawl steel works unless government – i.e. us – is giving them £1.5bn. This isn’t about production this is a direct consequence of BJ’s green, Net Zero policies:
“Indian conglomerate Tata Group has threatened to shut Port Talbot steel works unless it is given a £1.5bn government lifeline to help reduce carbon emissions. The company’s Tata Steel UK business, which owns the plant in South Wales, has been in talks with the Government about decarbonisation plans over the past two years, but those have now stalled. As one of Britain’s largest industrial groups, Tata Steel UK is a huge emitter of carbon dioxide.” (paywalled link)
Oh, we can’t have that – Princess NutNuts would be so upset! Why not close the whole thing down and outsource steel production to India or China! Let them pollute the planet with CO2 – we wash our hands in innocence. Better be ‘green’ and throw 8,000 workers on the slag heap so “we” can proudly proclaim that we’ll achieve Net Zero!
I wonder how many other industrial plants are struggling with Net Zero policies and are going to demand ‘help’ from government. It’s only coming out of our taxes, after all, and “we” can and will pay, won’t we! How will La Truss balance the books when she promises to slash taxes while having to shell out financial support to Net-Zero-stricken industries? We should be told, shouldn’t we, especially since her colleague, Mr Sharma, has already threatened to resign should Net Zero be ‘dumped’ (link). Moreover, a Tory donor has waded in, denouncing Sunak for his ’ridiculous’ tax plans:
“Conservative donor Sir Rocco Forte […] who donated £100,000 to Boris Johnson’s election campaign in 2019, said the former Chancellor had been “captured by the Treasury orthodoxy” over his pledge to balance the public finances in the short-term despite the cost of living crisis. Increases to corporation tax and national insurance, announced by Mr Sunak in the wake of the Covid crisis, were “ridiculous”, “crazy” and “not a Conservative approach to doing things”, Sir Rocco said.” (paywalled link)
Perhaps someone might ask Sir Rocco and by extension La Truss how they will pay for ‘moar NHS’, for ‘inflation-cushioning pay rises’ for the public sector, on top of support for Net Zero industrial policies. Labour will gobble up gleefully this ‘tax fight’, where ‘teh rich’ want to keep theirs while the rest of us peasants pays and keeps paying.
Of course, the Westminster MSM are gleefully fuelling this ‘tax’ debate: it shows how much their hearts bleed for us unfortunate tax payers! We might as well all vote for Labour next. Not that they’ll reduce taxes, but at least they’ll take money from ‘teh rich’ as well as from us. that Labour will also be ‘captured by the Treasury orthodoxy’ in record time is neither here nor there.
I leave you with the news that Italian’s Draghi has indeed resigned now and the President has to call for a snap election (link). He’s done a runner and leaves the covid~ and war~mess to his successor. Perhaps the wannabe PM candidates ought to ponder about doing a runner as well. Why not call a snap election and let Labour deal with the mess created by Johnson so they don’t have to.
And finally, The Times, by placing this backslapping ‘report’ on their front page, documents that they’re great at producing click-bait while overlooking that they’ve contributed to the Nation’s peak idiocy. Under the headline “@sohoplace: West End’s new landmark is a relief for female theatregoers” we read:
“It is the first new-build West End theatre to open in 50 years and, in another first, there will be more lavatories for women than for men.” (link, paywalled)
Oh dear! More ‘lavatories’ for women? That’s so transphobic, that is! At the very least the reporters ought to have written about ‘more loos for people peeing sitting-down’. Wouldn’t have made for a good, click-baity headline though.
That’s all for today. No new killer heatwave in sight, so the bloodsport that is theTory PM race must provide the thrills. If all else fails there’s always Princess Di. After all, what are the MSM for if not to present us with inane and irrelevant reports while shying away from touching on matters of real concern, such as Net Zero destroying industries or vanishing illegal immigrants possessing guns.
Well here’s a fishy story if ever there was one.
https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/cargo-plane-crashes-near-greeces-northern-city-kavala-2022-07-16/
Yes Ceri, munitions from Serbia to Bangladesh in a Ukrainian crew! Hmmm.
I am seething with anger at something I have just read on the online BBC news service, in that the Royal Navy is training Ukrainian navy personnel on two Sandown Minehunter Class vessels in the North Sea, which they later intend to hand over to them lock stock and barrel. Not content with depleting our own stockpiles of weaponry and handing it over to the Ukrainians, this so called Conservative government (what an absolute joke that is) now want to hand part of our Navy vessels over to them as well. OK, the vessels date from the 1980’s but that doesn’t mean that they are unfit for purpose for our needs surely. The surface fleet of the Royal Navy is apparently the lowest it has been in numbers since Napoleonic times, and here we are about to hand two Royal Navy vessels over to Ukraine as well. It isn’t just Boris Johnson who supposedly led this utter shower of no hopers that needs to resign and hang his head in shame, but the whole damn lot need to resign and hang their combined heads in shame, including the two utterly useless candidates who are vying to take over as top dog, who have supported Johnson and his decisions over the past three years The Conservatives really couldn’t organise a proverbial drink up in a brewery if they tried, and should never be trusted with the levers of power ever again, let alone taking possession of the keys to 10, Downing Street. And what are we going to be replacing these two vessels with, and why in heavens name has this news only just been released to the public now. And then I read in a separate story that two Russian Submarines have been tracked in the North Sea, both of whom came to the surface independently off the coast of Norway. No doubt we will be told that the two news items are not connected. I am so sick and tired of this lacklustre neo Conservative government, which seems to work against the common interest of this country. We need a new right of centre political party staffed with commons sense politicians with common sense policies, and we need it quick, in fact double quick time.
Colin Hussey, those vessels could return the ILLEGAL migrants, and their weapons, back to France where they came from. I would say those responsible for this treason should hang literally.
On outbreak of war, My oldest uncle , half German was given command of a minesweeper. This later turned out to be a wooden fishing boat with a crew of 4 Norwegians with guns. The entire crew of five came to stay one weekend . They were very noisy and mostly drunk, but treated my brother and I ( Age 7 and 6 ) like fellow drunks. Wonderful. The point of this Colin is that perhaps minesweepers is a bit grandiose. Also , I had a factory once, with one division that produced vast ranges of parts and components for ex Navy ships, weapons, dockyards, and ports All over the world. A substantial business. So the MOD may be idle, overpaid, a bureaucratic swamp etc, but they rarely leave themselves open. A bit like foreign aid,. and leading to a lot of good business.
Just saying.
TG Spokes……..these two ships are NOT minesweepers and are much bigger in size than those type of vessels. Their primary role is to detect deep seated mines within the ocean, amongst other duties. My point is that we do not have sufficient surface ships these days just to give away and questyioning why the Royal Navy is training Ukrainian naval personnel to crew the ships upon handover. The tale that you have written about sounds to me like vessels that were deployed by the Norwegians to ferry trained SOE agents and those wishing to escape Nazi occupation from Scottish coastal waters to Norway and back on wooden fishing vessels that had been adapted for the purpose and were covertly armed with cannon and other weaponry which was commonly called the ‘Shetland Bus’. This operationh was cloaked in secrecy then for obvious reasons but which is well documented now. I knew of someone whose father was an SOE agent who travelled to Norway and back via the Shetland Bus.
Lisa……….exactly. I think I have read somewhere that the Border Force do not have sufficiently big enough vessels to return migrants to France even if they could. However these two vessels could do that job, if this blasted government had the will to do it, but they don’t and more importantly wont. They don’t want to upset the French and are afraid of being viewed in a bad light by the EU, our supposed ‘friends and partners’ as that hapless twerp Johnson used to refer to them on numerous occasions. And we have to endure this absolute load of shite for another 2 years before we have a chance of getting shot of the Conservatives, on a hopefully permanent basis. They are absolutely dire beyond belief.
I share your anger Colin; simply unacceptable.
Now that the House of Representatives in the USA have formed a pact with Sinn Fein in Northern Ireland and stated that there will never be a trade deal with this country, is it surely not time to be fully independent of the United States of America? This ‘special relationship’ crap that is forced down our throats by politicians over the years just doesn’t exist, and never has done to be brutally honest. The USA have never done this country any real favours even during WW2. It is high time that we were independent of thought, defence and everything else.
Yes Colin Hussey. Almost entirely agree.
Maggie hitting it off with Reagan is perhaps one exception. Apparently when she asked how can you reduce taxes yet spend more on health care he said keep two separate books (accounts).
We do of course need to improve our balance of trade. That is far more important than ‘reducing the deficit’.
That is one reason I want Truss, not Sunak. Strikes me there is far more chance of exporting to Oz, than to U.S.A..
Their House of Representatives needs to be considered our enemy. I guess they have always been IRA sympathisers.
I see there are many here too thick to see that there are multiple reasons to move away from fossil fuels and be independent of other dodgy regimes. Too stupid even to look at and comprehend.the easy to understand Wikipedia section on how they are killing us.
HarryAgain- Too stupid. A good intellectual opening gambit.
What is it about the self-righteous that they cannot advertise their own, supposed brilliance and superiority, without sneering at and insulting anyone with a different opinion. They actually advertise their closed mind, dismissive of inconvenient facts. You see it across the board with every narrative.
And calling those not bowing to the cult of Wiki, stupid, is ironic indeed.
HarryAgain. Wikipedia……..that old chestnut again. Wikipedia is definitely not Encyclopedia Britannica, and is written by the likes of you, me and the gatepost. Anybody can write a Wikipedia page on any chosen subject and/or update a page. HarryAgain are you competing with the BBC in terms of repeats?
Harold A. What on earth do you mean by lumping together FOSSIL FUELS and OTHER DODGY REGIMES?
First I’ve heard that fossil fuels are a scheming i.e. thinking, group of entities.
When you resort to offensive remarks, you have lost the argument, bur that happened a long time ago didn’t it Harold Armitage.
Viv- When I awoke to see the opening picture today, my first thought was ‘how did you get a picture of my gunsafe’.
Wide awake and stone cold sober, my heart sank. ‘Something has happened overnight that needs us to protect ourselves against out of control authority’. Find out quick, I’ll check / clean all the weaponry soonest.
On reading the article it took me back a few years – bbc’s crusade against all weapons (a stone in the sock = ban socks; knives for cooking = . . . and spades; axes; three ton electric cars oh sorry . . . . ).
A programme bbc put out stated (as a fact), one could buy a gun in any London pub for fifty pounds Sterling. Yes, fifty quid. Right!
Colin might like to chime in with the figures for ‘gun rental’ used and unused.
So why bother smuggling them in? Or is there so much buckshee armaments sloshing about (post ukranium comedian) the availability will be even cheaper.
But weapons imported to and in the hands of Birmhamstan, or Lundunstan, panic not quite over for today.
A Swedish MP this week spoke out about immigrants failing to integrate and lamented the existence of “parallel societies” in Sweden even though she is rather late to the party and several years behind the Sedish Democrats’ protests about exactly that. In Sweden, of course, the subcultures are a particularly violent and now numerous set of criminal parasites on a delusional Swedish state. Even Fraser ‘in denial’ Nelson is getting worried so it must be bad.
This prompted Mrs Yeoman and me to reflect on our own parallel society as we withdraw from politics …. but fail to do for we attended a lunchtime talk yesterday that included Martin Howe QC (he of the Star Chamber that advised the ERG group of MPs on the TCA deal with the EU). He is only moderately influential in the Tory party but now advocates giving the EU notice of termination of the TCA but in a few years time in order to permit proper preparation. HIs talk was witty but he seemed uncomfortable at times as the awfulness of what a Tory government did in handling Brexit becomes harder to deny. But I digress.
The parallel society, the hinterland within, that made this summer particualrly pleasurable, concerns music and cigars. The Marylebone Music Society puts on concerts in Manchester Square in front of the Wallace Collection (a fine museum I recommend anyone to visit if you ever come to London). This year we went to Opera Night with some fine singers and the Orion youth orchestra. The standard was impressively high and we were all on our feet at the end. Dinner afterwards in the museum’s couryard with one of the violists and the director of the orchestra was delighful. These were people dedicated to sharing music and their enormous talent. It was a parallel universe. They inhabit a world oblivious to what was going on around them ( a world in which there are no-go areas for police and law as thousands of girls are raped). Also on our table was a splendid music teacher who goes round schools trying to intoduce kids to music. It is not just playing fields that have been sold off. There are many schools with no musical instruments or proper music tuition at all. Stonewall et al get paid to go into schools and spread their poison. These volunteers are not paid and depend on donations. As a talentless clod the best I could do was give them a bung and encouragement. (Incidentally, the various arias were introduced by an ageing rock star, Rick Wakeman. Older readers will remember him as the keyboad player with The Strawbs and Yes.) Seeing very talented young musicians so obviously enjoying what they do and happy to share, was uplifting.
That balmy summer night, of civilisation and art, that oasis of culture in the midst of the barabarians of Labour’s London, was re-inforced by a garden party the following week at which I discoverd cuban cigars. I was chatting to a consutant neurologist (about Northern Ireland) and he was smoking a cigar. The sommelier had brought the humidor outside and after a very informative chat with him about various cigars I tried a Hoyo Epicure no 2. I am not a smoker, but oh how delightful that (beginner’s) cigar was. Drink in one hand, cigar in the other, and a live jazz band in the garden, and still in the afterglow of that muscal night the week before, I was momemtarily reconciled to life though cursing that I had not discovered cuban cigars before. Mrs Yeoman noticed my new benign countenance. No longer was I “we are all doomed” (even though we are) and while I will be dead if I try smoking at home, she has agreed to indulge me when we are out and about provided it is occasional only.
By the way, ladies, of the half dozen or so of us puffing at the edge of a garden party, one was a (Republican) American lady who invited us to dinner next week. Cigars are not just for curmudgeonly old men.
So there you have my recomendation on how to stay sane and avoid the summer of madness and despair: music and cigars. It reconciles you to life and helps make new friends. The alternative, of contemplating a Sunak and Hunt goverment, doesn’t bear thinking about it, does it?
Gawd, I’m so jealous of the civilised, cultured life Mrs Y and you – and of course a host of others – are able to enjoy in the barbarous place that is London! Mr Howe QC … sigh … and the music and cigars …
Yes, even without cigars music is the antidote to madness and despair, even if it’s just another record. After all, not even in London can man enjoy the stars now gone …
(Btw, speaking of stars: on a totally unrelated level, i.e. football: the German star of old whom some of you might recall, Uwe Seeler, died yesterday, age 85. Yes, he played in ‘that’ world cup match at Wembley …)
You will remember where Mrs Y and I took you for lunch a few years back. It was in that garden that I discovered cuban cigars.
London is barbarous but, paradoxically, for now, there is also much going on that is worth being here for (though we do need to escape from time to time).
I remember that place very well indeed! And the fabulous lunch!
Britain is following the same path as Sweden. Sweden in 2022??
– 26 women raped everyday on average
– Average 4 bombings every week
– 61 “no-go zones”
– Most shootings in Europe
– 40 000 women genitally mutilated
– Car arsons every night
– World’s first feminist government
Socialism destroyed Sweden.
One would think that if it was so bad (and I personally do think it really is bad) those on the centre Right would be joining centre Right challenger parties.
OK Stout. Now you’ve joined us few wicked smokers, I count you as a friend too.
That sounds delightful Stout Yeoman. I think I will stick to an occasional glass of wine or fancy cocktail (my husband is rather good at the rum cocktails when we have BBQ’s), As I am not a drinker, one or two is enough to make me forget almost everything. It’s good for the blood pressure too (I made that one up).
Jesus Christ! Tens of thousands of military aged men allowed to enter our country uninvited and now it seems they are both bringing and smuggling firearms. Wake up! I thought the first duty of our government was to defend the realm, they have failed to the point of treason.
I would comment further but not only do words fail me but surely you don’t need me to point out the insanity of this treasonous failure of our government. When our families and close friends are killed in the coming war, perhaps people will wake up. So much for multiculturalism this is an invasion and war.
Wonder what ‘Pretty the Barrel’ will say? Such as, ‘all my relatives believe in the religion of peace’??
Encouraged and largely financed by that old maggot Soros. Wasnt he on film sdaying he had no regrets about what he did as a child, in Germany during the war. Someone like that calling many of the shots in the “”running of our country. God.
I suggested ‘treason’ elsewhere yesterday for giving away our country to foreign influence. I got this reply:-
“Treason is only a valid charge if the accused holds a singular citizenship to the country they are being accused by. We have multiple MPs and perhaps ministers who hold dual citizenship and green cards that grant them safe haven in another country”
So thats obviously the reason why so many non-British-origin wasters are taking down our country. They know they are untouchable!
The whole Westminster cabal is a stinking cesspit. Unless the general populace engages with politics then nothing will change.
Net Zero is unavoidable. As well as affecting the climate, pollution from fossil fuels is killing us all. As these fuels run out, the last remanents will be in the hands of Putin, various ayatollas and their ilk. We can see the result of this in Germany today. The war in Ukraine is about the fossil fuel reserves there.
We need substitutes/replacements and it will take many years to make the change over/solve the associated technical problems. The longer we leave it, the worse it will be.
So don’t bleat about “Net Zero”, it’s unavoidable and vitally necessary.

Harry(Wikipedia)Again strikes again.
bisc. (otte?) Oddly enough Harry Again has said something sensible at 8.14am today.
Yes, fossil fuels will run out. Yes, Putin having plenty in hand at the moment is making him strong. And yes, nuclear power for instance, does take time to develope.
None of that excuses him from constantly plugging the Carbon Neutral, Sun and Wind produced Electricity, fantasy.
Just keep swallowing their medicine Harry…
There are thousands of ways of saving the planet. But everyone wants to become the person in charge, No matter how silly that person may be.
It is my suggestion, to satisfy the ignorant mob ( Includes those currently in charge ), the project should be split into thousands of tiny bits of their own choosing, targets and rewards. Banks ,proud of their ability in this sort of activity, could donate some of the profits from inflation into these prizes. The government meanwhille could do a few ” Hargreaves Timepiece ” operations. Sage could be invited to suggest a few blind alleys, and ways to do it quicker. Based on models.
Materials and activities of no valid consequence can also be offered to the more useless members of society presently enjoying the simple way of making money on scarce resources such as beer cans. or property.
That’s my Friday suggestion box offering on ” How to destroy, or save the Planet “
Would there be the sameclimate change hysteria and Net Zero emergency target were the fossil fuels primarily in the hands/territory of Western governments/corporations? Just musing.
Precisely Jake at 11.03am.
Let’s put it this way – U.S.A. is now a net IMPORTER of oil.
Drivel. And anyone who thinks quoting Wiki in support lends credence is away with the fairies.
Net Zero is wholly avoidable; er, just don’t do it. Easy! It is a scientifically illiterate solution that will have no effect whatsoever on the supposed problem but catastrophic effect on humanity’s comfort and progress, and is addressing a problem that does not even exist. That tells you it is a scam all about control and wealth.
Oh, and far from killing us fossil fuels have enabled the safest, healthiest and most prosperous and populous society to date. Life expectancy in this country hovered around 40 for centuries, until the start of the industrial revolution, 1850-ish, and then rose steadily and inexorably to about 80 where we are now. A similar but delayed effect can be seen in every country. Of course we should clean up pollution, genuine pollution, but CO2 is not pollution, it is a vital trace gas of which we need more. Vegetation extinction begins at about 180ppm CO2; Earth was about as close to that as it has ever been at around 280ppm, but thankfully naturally occurring CO2 is climbing away from it, whist man’s contribution is statistically insignificant. The CO2 scam was beginning to dawn on people so it was augmented with Methane, even less of a GHG, and now Nitrogen which makes up 78% of Earth’s atmosphere and like CO2 is vital for crop growth; wow, some pollution that.
Thanks Phil O’S at 12.43pm.
HarryAgain. Dear oh dear. Not content with one outrageously silly comment per day, but now we have two. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has nothing whatsoever to do with Fossil Fuels or Net Zero, but everything to do with the continued eastward expansion of both the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaties Organisation (NATO). The current situation in Ukraine is one of the West’s own making. It made a promise not to expand eastwards into the backyard of Russia, but has done it nevertheless. Remember 1962 and the Cuban Missile crisis when the Russians placed Nuclear missiles on Cuban soil, well this Ukraine situation mirrors that. Ukraine should never ever be part of the European Union or indeed NATO and should instead be a neutral state or a buffer zone. Apart from anything else why would a country like Ukraine who fought to gain independence from Russia then want to get into bed with Ursula von De Luyen and the European Union and be subject to their dictatorial demands.
Colin Hussey, 3.27pm. Agreed.
‘So don’t bleat about “Net Zero”, it’s unavoidable and vitally necessary.’
Net Zero is not unavoidable, Harold. It is actually unattainable with current state-of-art technology! Imagine what attaining it would require: somehow we would have to find and implement ways of recycling ALL the wastes and exhausts emanating from human society. Our current level of scientific and technical knowledge and understanding is simply not up to the job of doing that. There are also fundamental scientific reasons why it would be impossible (e.g. 2nd law of thermodynamics) that are well-known to physicists and engineers, although they are evidently less well-known to bureaucrats and politicians of the Green variety.
If you disagree with this assessment, please show us a successfully-working demonstration-model of a Net Zero community as living proof of the concept. If you cannot do that we have no reason to believe that the Net Zero project is anything more than a half-baked shibboleth and a wish-fulfilment fantasy.
Indeed John.
