Here be warmongers and string-pullers

 

 

Let me make it clear – crystal clear even, if you wish: I will not write about any military ‘news’ in Ukraine, I will not speculate about who is or isn’t doing this or that. I am going to show up the Propaganda MSM for their fake outrage, their irrational blubbering, their utter hypocrisy. At the end of this column I will mention one piece of ‘military’ information of supreme importance.

So – the hypocrisy. There is for example an article on the online front page of The Times about the brutal Russian police which arrested “a frail 78-year-old activist at an anti-war protest in St Petersburg” (link, paywalled). The video of that arrest got nearly 7m hits on Twitter. Please help me out: were there any reports in The Times or any of our MSM about the brutal riding-down of protesters in Ottawa? Of the harrowing scenes In Wellington which our NZ correspondent reported? Ah – I forgot: “Russian police: bad – Canadian and NZ police: good”.

Then there is the Tory MP Ms Trott who declares in The Times that “Our strategy in Ukraine must include protecting women and girls” (link, paywalled). If you thought she’ll tell us, right now, how “we” might do this – perish the thought. Firstly, she writes that, according to an UN model, about 80,000 Ukrainian women will give birth in the next three months in the Ukraine. How do they know that when so many women have fled? Don’t ask! Btw, I cannot remember any such articles about the fate of Iraqi women during the Gulf Wars … She is however trying to make a subliminal accusation:

“In November last year, the UK, alongside its allies, issued a strong statement that the use of sexual violence as a weapon in conflict is a red line akin to the use of chemical weapons. At this time of greatest need the same strong message must now be sent to Russia.” (link, paywalled)

Blimey! Of course, we need to remember that Russians are rapists, so let’s condemn them already. Perhaps British wimmin ought to shun any man here in the UK who bears a Russian name? After all, you never know …

There’s something quite frightening going on: the ‘cultural elite’ of this country – after all, the Westminster Swamp dwellers regard themselves as being at the pinnacle of cultural sophistication! – has mentally sunk into utter irrationality and tries to inflict this irrationality on all of us.

I’ll be fair: they’ve not yet called for the owners of Russian cat breeds to be publicly shunned and shamed, as was the case with those who owned dachshunds in 2014. They probably hope that we’ll do this by ourselves, now that we’ve been told … subliminally.

There are other cultural icons which “we” must also shun. It’s not sufficient that live Russian musicians are already banned from performing here, “we”, in the form of Netflix, are now cancelling the production of a TV series, ‘Anna Karenina’, because the author, Leonid Tolstoy, was a Russian. Never mind that he’s long dead … At least, it’s a great excuse for not reading his wonderful work ‘War and Peace’ ‘because ‘Putin!’.

The insanity has also reached ‘Our Sacred Cow’. Mr Jabbit is now showing his strength and determination, making a stand against Putin:

“Sajid Javid has demanded that NHS hospitals stop buying energy from the Russian state-owned company Gazprom. At least 16 hospitals have bought gas from the company during this financial year, spending millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money on Russian energy. NHS England has ordered all trusts to declare whether they use Gazprom and the health secretary is insisting that they cut ties with the company.” (link, paywalled)

Don’t ask me how those hospital trusts are going to achieve this! Even The Times acknowledges that it’s unclear how the NHS will be able to get out of those contracts. Still, you’ll be glad to hear that we’ll be spared from coming into contact with other Russian stuff which ‘Our NHS’ has bought: 

“A wider review of Russia’s role in supplying the NHS is under way as the government seeks to isolate President Putin economically after the invasion of Ukraine.” (link, paywalled)

Since most of those supplies come from China, I wonder how long it’ll take for the poor NHS admin to check that they’re not supporting that other ‘murderous’ regime. Anyone remember the Uighurs? Meanwhile politicians are using this as a welcome opportunity to display their virtue-signalling credentials:

“Lord Stevens of Birmingham, the former chief executive of NHS England, has effectively accused hospitals that are using Gazprom of funding “dictatorial regimes that are engaged in acts of aggression”.” (link, paywalled)

Ahem. These contracts were signed when Stevens was the NHS head honcho, weren’t they! Shouldn’t he confess his guilt? Here’s another one:

“Jeremy Hunt, the former health secretary, said: “It’s clearly unsustainable for a humanitarian organisation like the NHS to have any commercial links whatsoever with Putin’s murderous regime. The small minority of trusts who retain links with Gazprom need to rethink this as a matter of urgency.” (link, paywalled)

Omigawd – are there perchance secret Putin supporters in ‘Our NHS’? Wasn’t Putin sufficiently ‘murderous’, according to our MSM, whe Hunt and Stevens signed those contracts? Never mind – I’m sure there’ll be demands for more money for the NHS, to pay for the paperwork and for higher gas charges!

Meanwhile the DT has come up with a helpful, long list of Russian products “we” can boycott, to show our support for Ukraine and our hatred of Putin and all things Russian. Under the headline:

 “Which Russia-related products should you boycott? – From booze to pensions, how can you use your own personal spending power to make Putin pay?” (paywalled link)

It’s too tedious to repeat what all “we” must shun, from vodka and caviar to footie clubs to a High street Health Chain. One item though is rather interesting: 

“Moscow-based cloud services and digital privacy provider Kaspersky Lab is Russia’s leading information technology company. It supplies anti-virus and anti-malware software to a mixture of individual consumers and major organisations, helping protect against ransomware and other cyber attacks.” (paywalled link)

Yay! Ditch that software and open up your computers to hackers, to show you are taking a stand against Putin! You know it makes sense! Meanwhile, get rid of your books, ditch any music by Tchaikovski, shun Russian cats, don’t eat caviar and don’t drink vodka. 

I leave you with one serious piece of military news. Ms Psaki, the White House PR madam, acknowledged the following at her press conference yesterday. This is a direct quote from the official White House transcript:

“MS. PSAKI:  Well, without getting too far into details of what we do, for obvious reasons, we have consistently been sharing intelligence that includes information the Ukrainians can use to inform and develop their military response to Russia’s invasion.  That has been ongoing, and reports that suggest otherwise are inaccurate.” (link)

Isn’t that akin to providing military support? Is this somehow different to sending troops? Doesn’t this mean that, by giving this information to the remaining Ukrainian forces, the USA is actively prolonging the war, allowing the Ukrainian PM to posture while his people are fighting on.

Aren’t we made to believe that the humanitarian west is doing all to end the suffering? Instead, the USA and the west are enticing Ukraine to fight the west’s proxy war against Putin, to the last Ukrainian standing.

‘Tis amazing to see how good and virtuous “we” are …!
