Why worry about blackouts when we can have nuclear Armageddon!

 

In case you didn’t know already, today’s front pages might shock you: we’re facing blackouts! Or less frightening: ‘three-hour power cuts’. The compilation of yon print front pages can be found at the usual place (link). Mind you – La Truss has a plan … more on that below.

The PM also went on that junket to Prague yesterday, to the Macron-Europe-Initiative on ‘security for all.’ You’ll be glad to hear that she’s now ‘friends with Macron’, as if there were a ‘new Entente Cordiale’:

“Liz Truss declared that President Macron is a “friend” of Britain yesterday as the two leaders announced plans to renew the entente cordiale after three years of diplomatic spats. In a remarkable rapprochement, the prime minister said that an annual summit with the French president would be revived next year and co-operation on illegal migration renewed. […] Truss said that she was working “very, very closely with President Macron and the French government” over issues including energy security.” (link, paywalled)

Isn’t that lovely! They’ll even ‘talk’ about ‘immigration’! They did talk about ‘energy security’. Perhaps that’s why the main subject this morning are ‘rolling blackouts’: except for lots of hot air and nice words, there’s nothing that can be done, especially not since the EU went ahead with their latest ‘sanctions’, imposing a price cap on Russian oil. Never mind that OPEC+ immediately announced a cut in their output, starting on 1st November – Biden has denounced this and will surely ‘do something’, such as depleting even further the US strategic oil reserves (link)

It’s all Putin’s fault, never the result of all those sanctions. Biden said so, and Miz Liz said so as well, telling the MSM after that meeting with yon nice wannabe Napoleon that “We’re both very clear the foe is Vladimir Putin,” she said yesterday.” (link, paywalled). That’s helpful, innit, when we’re going to sit in the dark in the winter months! After all, the DT reports, Truss “refuses to rule out power cuts hitting homes and businesses if country cannot import enough energy” (paywalled link): take that, Putin!

There’s more. The DT wails that “Downing Street blocks energy-saving information campaign” – that’s shocking, that is:

“An information campaign urging the public to conserve energy backed by Jacob Rees-Mogg has been rejected by Downing Street. The Business Secretary signed off plans for a £15 million campaign, including television and newspaper adverts advising people to turn off radiators in empty rooms and switch off the heating before going out. But Downing Street on Thursday rejected the proposals, arguing that the information was already available, […]The campaign was “light touch” and the measures could have saved people up to £300 a year.” (paywalled link)

Doesn’t that campaign sound familiar? It worked for lockdown and covid, didn’t it! And how heartless of ‘Downing Street’ to prevent giving guidance to the plebs, helping them to ’save up to £300pa’! Here are some details – try not to laugh:

“Plans to advise people to turn down their thermostats were dropped after concerns from health officials that elderly people may get dangerously cold. Other tips, such as turning off the lights or electrical appliances, were dismissed over their negligible impact on the power grid.” (paywalled link)

Puerile as this looks, the ‘powers’, i.e. Truss and the National Grid, have been busy and are far more ‘decisive’. Here’s the DM with their summary-like headline:

“Truss sparks storm over her blackouts deal to offer households £10 a day to cut electric usage at peak times ONLY for unreliable smart meters – as fears grow that the UK will be hit by rolling three-hour daily power cuts amid winter gas shortages” (link)

Meanwhile, National Grid has set out some worst-case scenarios, including the use of coal-fired power stations. They’re not blaming Putin though, at least not directly. It makes for grim reading and yes, there’s the ‘incentive’ for people not to use electricity. The scheme is allegedly going to:

“[…]  allow customers, whether domestic or corporate, to “be incentivised for voluntarily flexing the time when they use their electricity”. In other words, households and businesses will be paid to participate in self-imposed blackouts. Precisely how much consumers can expect for plunging their homes into the Victorian era is currently being hammered out. One thing seems certain, it will be a “dynamic” scheme meaning the value of the incentive will be based on just how desperate the grid is to preserve energy.” (paywalled link)

Why we plebs need to participate when we’re told that turning off appliances had a ‘negligible impact on the grid’ is anybody’s guess. We’re not told how the National Grid will cope with the ensuing peak demand once electricity is back on and everybody will switch on their electricity to watch telly for the latest blackout news, desperately recharging their smartphones. Perhaps it’s als escaped the notice of these geniuses that many people use and rely on the PCs. Apparently they believe we’re still in the 1970s where the electricity-using appliances were tellies, fridges and washing machines.

But perhaps we won’t need to worry about blackouts because of the latest news regarding nuclear Armageddon. Biden after all has warned that:

“[…]  the risk of nuclear “Armageddon” was at its highest level since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, as Russia hinted at the possibility of using tactical nuclear weapons after suffering major setbacks in its invasion of Ukraine.” (paywalled link)

Biden’s warning ought to be taken seriously – not “because: Putin”, but because of what that unspeakable president of the Ukraine said. Firstly, look at this quote from a report in a Russian paper, published by iEarlgrey. If you have a good machine translator, you can check out the actual report – in Russian – here. The “Washington Examiner” also reported this (link), as did an Aussie news source (link). After all, Pres ‘e made this remark in a video conference for some Aussie institute. 

The DM actually does have a report, nicely spun, regurgitating the hasty ‘correction’ by Ukrainian spokespeople – and blaming Putin:

“The Kremlin has warned of potentially ‘monstrous consequences’ after Volodymyr Zelensky appeared to suggest NATO powers should bomb Russia to deter Vladimir Putin from using nuclear weapons against Ukraine. Russia said such comments risked starting ‘yet another world war’ after the Ukrainian president seemed to tell Australian think tank the Lowy Institute that he believed ‘preemptive strikes’ on Russian territory were necessary. However Kyiv later insisted he was actually calling for ‘preemptive sanctions’, just as he did ‘before February 24’, when the invasion was launched.” (link)

There ye have it: Pres ‘e didn’t mean it, he mis-spoke, he’s not dangerously deluded when he asked that NATO abandon their ‘no first strike’ policy. Given the sabotage of Nordstream 1 and 2, after Biden warned the USA would ’terminate this’, who knows if Biden won’t defend ‘the world’ by a ‘preemptive’ nuclear strike to ‘save the world’, eradicating Putin and Russia!

Meanwhile, here’s the latest essay from Jacques Baud which is another ‘must-read’, long as it is. Towards the end, M Baud writes:

“Moreover, I would like to remind you that in April of this year, Joe Biden decided to depart from the US “no-first use” policy and thus reserves the right to use nuclear weapons first.” (link).

Was the off-the-cuff remark by Mr ‘e aimed at giving the green light to Biden? Are we now in the nuclear phase of cowboy politics where one shoots first and asks questions later?

Why are our MSM so coy, avoiding to address this truly frightening scenario? Is it too frightening? Is it better to let us plebs worry instead about rolling blackouts so as to distract us from demanding an end to the war by forcing the Ukraine to the negotiating table? Is Truss happy to support a nuclear strike on Russia because ‘Putin is the foe’, and never mind the welfare of this country and indeed the world?

Does she, does Biden think that nuclear Armageddon, ‘apocalypse now’, means we won’t need to worry about blackouts and the economy once this happens? God protect us!
