Yes, we’re shown another one of those tree rats!

 

 

When the MSM have run out of ‘news’ with which to fuel the fear porn propaganda, the daily ‘outrage’, there’s still one way to get the British public properly riled up: stoke up the envy for ‘teh rich’ by stories of cheating the tax man, allegedly. That’s why the print papers mostly run with another lot of articles on Mrs Sunak (link). 

It’s yet another nice squirrel because it allows our hacks to avoid asking about the rise in cost of living, especially the cost for domestic energy. And for those who love gossip about skulduggery and backstabbing, there’s the rumour that the tale of Mr Sunak’s wife was launched by No 10. Really? Why? The Tory popularity poll shows Rishi Washi to have sunk even below Johnson. 

Still, it means this morning we weren’t exhorted to constant outrage about Russia. There’s also scant room to report that the UN General Assembly has voted to suspend Russia’s membership of the Human Rights Council. You can find the tally of votes and more in a dispassionate report here. Meanwhile the EU has agreed on more sanctions, especially one on Russian coal:

“The package of sanctions was approved by the EU’s Committee of Permanent Representatives, the French EU Council presidency said in a tweet, with the Council set to be published tomorrow. “This very substantial package extends the sanctions against Russia to new areas and provides in particular, sanctions against oligarchs, Russian propaganda actors, members of the security and military apparatus and entities in the industrial and technological sector linked to Russian aggression against Ukraine,” the French EU Council presidency said. It includes the freezing of assets of several Russian banks as well as a ban on exports to Russia including high-tech goods of up to €10 billion and the closure of EU ports to Russian-flagged ships.” (link)

And here I thought Russian oligarchs and ‘propaganda actors, whatever that means, had already been sanctioned! There was another meeting yesterday, that of NATO’s foreign ministers. Yes, Miz Truss was there and went full-on ‘cold war’: “we” must no longer talk with Russia (link). One interesting point of this meeting has apparently not made it into the western MSM: the geographic expansion of that organisation from the North Atlantic to the Pacific:

“South Korean and Japanese foreign ministers were invited to join the high-profile NATO session on Thursday for the first time as NATO seeks to gain cooperation from Asia to isolate Russia and pressure China over the Ukraine crisis.” (link)

This is not just about NATO ‘making a stand against Russia’, never mind that they’ve supported the Ukraine military for years and are continuing to do so, the reason is, as Mr Stoltenberg makes quite clear, the coercion of more countries to support the USA in their global anti-Russian efforts:

“NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has declared that by being “unwilling to condemn Russia’s aggression,” China has issued a challenge to the Cold War-era alliance. […] “We have seen that China is unwilling to condemn Russia’s aggression, and Beijing has joined Moscow in questioning the right of nations to choose their own path,” Stoltenberg told reporters in Brussels on Thursday, following a meeting of NATO foreign ministers, along with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and officials from Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and South Korea. “This is a serious challenge to us all,” Stoltenberg added. “It makes it even more important that we stand together.” (link)

NATO, the North Atlantic military alliance, is using Russia as pretext to encircle China militarily. China, it seems, must be threatened and punished for not falling in line with the USA. In an opinion piece in the Global Times, the paper owned by the Chinese Communist Party, there’s this revealing quote:

“NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg hyped the “China threat” in his press conference on Tuesday, a day before the NATO foreign ministers’ meeting. He said China’s “coercive policies on the global stage… pose a systemic challenge” to NATO’s security and democracies. He said NATO’s next Strategic Concept will “for the first time… take into account China’s growing influence.” He also said the bloc will seek to enhance cooperation with “Asia-Pacific partners.” (link)

Of course, this isn’t another encirclement! NATO doesn’t ‘encircle’ countries, Russia was simply lying and China should just fall in line with US interests and then NATO would keep out of the Pacific, correct? Note also that Stoltenberg is accusing China of doing what the USA has been doing: ‘coercion’, nicely documented by the UN vote to ‘suspend’ Russia from the Human Rights Council.

Naturally “we” also don’t believe a word China says. NATO is after all only going to play, it’s only going to protect “us” against those rampaging enemies Russia and China. Also, the announcement that the AUKUS alliance will now go on to develop those hypersonic missiles which China has already tested and which Russia seems to have deployed, is obviously going to make the world feel more safe (link).

Developing new weapons system looks like another of those ‘pie-in-the-sky’ projects like all those scrambling attempts to wean Europe and the USA off Russian energy imports. How our oh-so educated technical ‘elites’ will manage – that’s another story. A report (link) shows for example that even before this war ‘Teh West’ was relying on technical expertise from other countries such as the Ukraine.

Meanwhile the Ukraine is warning of more horrors to come in the fighting in the Donbas region. Therefore NATO, to keep this proxy war going, is offering a ‘weapons upgrade’ for the Ukraine (link). And why not – they’ve been doing this for eight years, only nobody cares for civilian lives lost when they’re ‘only Russians’. 

One other point to keep in mind: the Russian forces have had a strict prohibition of the use of mobile phones for all their forces in the Ukraine. The only news from the war come from journalists embedded with the Russian forces. The Ukraine has now similarly prohibited the use of social media, across the whole country. So there’s no unfiltered news coming out, unlike in the early days. 

This is something Larry Johnson also points out in his article yesterday, titled “THE DOG THAT AIN’T BARKING IN UKRAINE” (link), where he wonders why, if brave Ukrainian soldiers are ‘winning’, they don’t show the west any evidence for their victories. RT has an interesting report on ‘moar atrocities’ which western journalists hoped to find – and didn’t (link).

Western journalists were streaming into ‘liberated Bucha’, obliterating any ‘evidence’ for that International Inquiry into those atrocities. I present you with this image making the rounds yesterday:

These are the intrepid western journalists, desperate for ‘a story’! Focusing on that Ukrainian cat will do. You couldn’t make it up!

We know that we’re being fed unmitigated propaganda and have therefore switched off watching and reading what the MSM spew out about this war.  Perhaps that’s why they think that “we” must now be poked into getting angry with Ms Sunak … they must keep the levels of our ‘indignation’ and ‘outrage’ at a constant high.
