Keep being afraid, very afraid – and test, test, test!

 

Some intriguing stories emerged during the Christmas Holidays. They are worth looking at in retrospect because they provide the background on which Johnson will decide today if he’s going to follow Dripford, Khan and Sturgeon into cancelling New Year’s Eve festivities and worse. They’re also intriguing because they look as if ‘warring factions’ inside the SAGE camp were trying to push their beloved fear porn while others were trying to provide scapegoats should more people ask inconvenient questions.

On Christmas Day we read that SAGE released papers proposing ‘stricter’ measures lasting even unto March next year:

“Papers released by the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) included University of Warwick modelling looking at tighter rules starting on Dec 28 or New Year’s Day and lasting until Jan 15, Jan 28 or March 28. The latest of those dates, if it was adopted by Boris Johnson, would mean England going back into tighter restrictions for three months after Christmas. It is longer than publicly suggested by some of the most cautious scientists and politicians.” (paywalled link)

It doesn’t matter that the more enlightened, less SAGE-brainwashed part of the population knows that the numbers for these models – models which always present the worst of worst-case scenarios – are “dodgy” on many levels. Here’s another report about another set of dodgy numbers:

“One of Britain’s most senior health advisers has been accused of disseminating “dodgy data” that inflated the potential risk of omicron. Dr Jenny Harries, the chief executive of the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), is understood to have been the source of a contested claim by Sajid Javid, the Health Secretary, that there is typically a 17-day lag between patients becoming infected and requiring hospitalisation. However, independent experts pointed to Office for National Statistics (ONS) data, which suggested an average delay of nine or 10 days. The claim by Mr Javid was seen as an attempt to strengthen the case for urgent new Covid-19 restrictions, on the basis that the country could be on the brink of a major spike in hospitalisations due to omicron.” (paywalled link)

These are the ‘data’ on which Johnson will base his decision of locking us up by diktat from No 10, or if he’ll leave us be, because we’ve suddenly become so responsible, keeping away even from the Boxing Day Mayhem in the High Streets. Some big stores apparently didn’t even open their doors yesterday (link, link paywalled).

It’s noteworthy that the ‘science correspondents’ writing about those ‘dodgy data’ are not even questioning the fact that the blanket testing by people across the nation might conceivably have something to do with the assumed rise in hospitalisations. This is even more astonishing in view of reports that ‘scores of people’ who self-tested with those Lateral Flow Tests found to their horror that they were covid +ve and thus spent Christmas in not-so-splendind self-isolation (link). We’re not told if these self-testers were actually ill, if they just had ‘the sniffles’ or if they needed to go to hospital. 

However, better be prepared for another bout of ‘Save the NHS’ Lockdowns because, to the surprise of ‘science correspondents’, the testeritis had consequences beyond a spoiled Christmas:

“Hospital chiefs are in a race against time to plug staff shortages on wards as thousands of doctors and nurses are forced to isolate because of the virus. Latest NHS figures show that England’s Covid-related absences soared from 12,240 to 18,829 between December 12 and 19, a rise of nearly a thousand a day. The capital, where infection rates have risen most in recent weeks, is worst affected. At Barts, the biggest trust, absences have risen from 597 to 864 in the past seven days.” (link paywalled, link)

Expect the numbers on these staff shortages to become even worse when more numbers trickle in, of tests taken from Christmas Eve onwards which haven’t yet made it into the official count. 

Note also that the Covid tsar Javid will use those numbers to push his mass vaccination campaign even further, for example by sending a text message to every single mobile phone, telling them to get that booster (paywalled link). This ‘all must have that booster’ campaign is supported by reports that patients ‘with no jabs’ are “60% more likely” to end up on ventilators.

In that same report an ICU consultant says “that unvaccinated patients were putting extra pressure on intensive care units (ICUs) at a time of year when they are typically under strain.” (link, paywalled). See how this works? “Staff shortages” because of the covid tsars’ demand to self-test every day leads to ‘Moar Save the NHS!’ because the poor Sacred Cow will  be ‘overwhelmed’, inevitably.

How cynical the whole covid cult in the upper reaches of government and indeed that poor, overwhelmed NHS is, was demonstrated by a report in the DT on Christmas Eve:

“Covid bystanders” are becoming a “major problem” for the NHS, as people who come to hospital for non-Covid reasons but subsequently test positive are slowing down urgent surgeries, a consultant has warned. Dr Zudin Puthucheary, the chairman of the Intensive Care Society’s national rehabilitation collaborative, said that people who unknowingly have the virus when they arrive at hospital could increase transmission in so-called “green” and “clean” areas and impact how emergency departments deal with patients.” (paywalled link)

How dare people go to A & E without first having a proper covid test! How dare these un-tested – probably unjabbed as well, is the subliminal hint – interfere and mess up the precious running of the Sacred Cow! It’s those untested plebs, those ‘covid bystanders’ who mess up planned cancer operations – shame on them, innit like!

Clearly, the whole covid bubble, from No 10 to the DHSC and the NHS all the way down to the covid MSM, have totally lost the plot. Do they ask how come there are suddenly so many ‘unvaccinated’ when we were told in the summer that two jabs will make us free and 80% had those two jabs to go on holidays?

They shifted the goalposts to push boosters by declaring that these jabs sadly don’t work against Omicron which has become a ‘pandemic’ only thanks to daily tests, a ‘pandemic’ which closes offices, shops and the Sacred Cow because people do as they’re told: test and self-isolate. Hm – but what’ll happen when nobody uses yon ‘daily test’?

That’s why the report about ‘dodgy numbers’ was significant: it’s about how long people ought to self-isolate, not about who is or isn’t really sick. That’s why there will be some attempts by Johnson’s covid government to curtail our freedoms – if not by ‘Lockdown decree’ then by the SAGE nudges to self-test and self-isolate, and never mind the effects on the economy. 

Well, let’s hope all the actual workers who cannot WFH will take this opportunity to show up this absurdity by taking well-deserved covid ‘holidays’. A national lockdown means Sunak has to shell out more of our money – a ‘self-isolated’ worker will be paid by their employer. 

I leave you with the unappetising news that:

“The number of NHS executives earning at least a quarter of a million pounds has risen by more than 50 per cent in the past year, […] Official figures showed that there are now 36 managers at NHS trusts and clinical commissioning groups who earn £250,000 or more, some £100,000 more than the Prime Minister’s salary, compared to 23 in 2020.” (paywalled link)

We pay our raised NI contributions for that – not for ‘moar frontline staff’! “We” will be asked to ‘save the Sacred Cow’ yet again, that same sacred cow which pays their chiefs eye-watering amounts of money – chiefs who cannot run their hospitals properly but disdainfully label untested people ‘covid bystanders’ who are messing up their hospitals in which people actually catch covid. 

The only light at the end of this covid tunnel is that, according to the comment posts under such reports, more and more people have had enough and are less and less inclined to accept further interference in their lives, be it by covid dictators or by the covid porn merchants in the MSM. 

Will the ever so obedient covid lemmings finally, after two years of unmitigated fear propaganda, simply get on with their lives? Let’s hope so as we count down the last days remaining in this second covid year.
