Our Ministry of Defence: part of the Ukrainian war effort?
Something isn’t quite right. Our beloved MSM seem to have relegated the war in Ukraine to ‘also ran’, as the compilation of headlines in this morning’s paper editions (link) shows. It’s not as if there weren’t anything to report about that war, especially not since we know that our MSM have access to Russian news agencies.
It looks as if The Times has become the official government propaganda paper. They pridefully splashed a report across their front page, about ‘one of ours’ having shot down a Russian helicopter:
“Britain’s most advanced portable missile system is thought to have shot down a Russian helicopter in its first use on the Ukrainian battlefield. Starstreak, a high-velocity projectile that destroys targets with three kinetic darts, was filmed cutting the aircraft in two over the Luhansk region in the east of the country. Footage of the attack shows the tungsten spears breaking the tail off the Mi-28N, after Ukrainians using British techniques opened fire.” (link, paywalled)
So ‘it is thought’ that this happened, is it? Allegedly there’s ‘verified footage’ of this, but we plebs are of course not shown that footage. There’s more – read this carefully:
“A Ministry of Defence source believed that the video showed Starstreak in action over Ukraine. The source added that the anti-aircraft system had been deployed in the country for almost a week. Senior defence industry sources who examined the film also believe it to be the weapon.” (link, paywalled)
Alright then: if a MoD ‘source’, anonymous as always, ‘believes’ this has happened then we have to accept it as truth. I find it somewhat suspicious though that the MoD ‘source’ alleged that this system had been deployed there for ‘almost a week’. How, one might ask, did it get there?
Moreover, were the Ukrainian soldiers trained in how to use this here in the UK or were British Army specialists in the Ukraine to train them? That would make us participants in this war, not just benevolent bystanders and would explain the belligerent statements coming from Messrs Johnson and Wallace and Miz Truss.
Given that there are rumours in the twittersphere about French, US and UK ‘military advisers’ actually having been embedded with the Azov brigade in Mariupol, that this was the reason for the suicidal attempts to evacuate them via helicopters which were shot down, it makes me wonder what else we are being kept ignorant about. There is for example a report in RT, on the ‘aid’ bill signed by Biden in March:
“[…] almost half the headline $13.6 billion wellspring ($6.5 billion) has already been allocated – to cover the cost of weapons shipments to Ukraine and the buildup of NATO forces in January and February this year. In other words, before the war had even formally begun.” (link)
Perhaps our ‘most advanced portable missile system’ was shipped to the Ukraine at that time rather than sometime last week? Perhaps that’s when some training was given – before the outbreak? Perhaps this was meant to support the Ukrainian aggression against the Donbas regions?
Didn’t the report in The Times mention that this helicopter was shot down over Luhansk? Wouldn’t it have been somewhat difficult to transport this system from the Polish border to the Donbas ‘sometime this week’ without the Russians noticing?
Moreover, RT quotes a paper published by the OCSE, on how they observed a build-up of armaments in that region – before the outbreak of war:
“The same report noted that, “in violation of withdrawal lines,” OSCE observers identified placement of surface-to-air-missile systems, howitzers, anti-tank guns and multiple-launch rocket systems in government-controlled areas of Donetsk. Neither this blatantly belligerent activity, nor the Organization recording how the overwhelming majority of missile and rocket attacks carried out in the days leading up to Russia’s military attack were targeted at breakaway areas by government forces, has ever been mentioned by a Western news outlet.” (link)
Of course it hasn’t. Why provide even the shimmer of a reason for Putin’s intervention! There’s more. It goes towards supporting the suspicions voiced in some alt media comments that the Ukraine, goaded by the USA and the rest of the west, was planning for a Russian intervention in the Donbas region:
“This may be partially explained by the US, UK and Canada pulling out of the OSCE mission in Ukraine in mid-February, allegedly due to fears of an impending Russian assault – another rationale for the English-speaking trio’s withdrawal could be that revealing the reality of egregious government abuses in Eastern Ukraine was problematic, and politically unpopular at home.” (link)
Well, things evolved differently, as we now know. It is becoming more obvious that the Ukraine is fighting a proxy war, supported by NATO and the Western Nations, cheered on by the concentrated propaganda in the western MSM. The report on the ‘success’ of one of our most advanced portable missile systems demonstrates that our Armed Forces must be involved, even if it’s just to test if ‘our systems’ work.
Meanwhile, the Ukraine’s ‘International Legion’ has stopped recruiting because, they say, they’ve run out of weapons – huh? Isn’t it Russia which is running out of everything, according to our MSM who always tell the truth? The other reason is “that untrained westerners have been more of a hindrance than a help” (link). Oh dear! So training is important, thus begging the question who trained those Ukrainian soldiers in the use of our ‘most advanced portable missile system, where and when.
I leave you with a stunning and horrifying report. TASS has published a press release by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service. I am quoting at length in case you cannot access that site:
“MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. The Kiev leadership informed the British Foreign office that it did not intend to comply with the Geneva Convention when dealing with Russian prisoners of war. This is stated in a statement distributed on Friday by the press bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of the Russian Federation. […] “The Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation receives reliable data that after the publication of shocking videos of torture of captured Russian servicemen in Ukraine, the nationalist Kiev regime is making efforts to prevent further disclosure of such facts,” the message reads.” (link, in Russian, machine translated)
It gets worse. See this quote next, my emphasis:
“There is specific information that the Ukrainian authorities are persuading Western patrons to encourage the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and various international humanitarian NGOs to refuse to attempt to gain access to Russian prisoners of war,” the text says. Western countries are not only aware of Kiev’s gross violations of international humanitarian law against Russian prisoners of war, but are also trying to help the Ukrainian authorities avoid responsibility, the press bureau of the SVR added.” (link, in Russian, machine translated)
That in itself is horrible enough to make one ask why our MSM and indeed our government isn’t refuting these allegations. After all, it should be easy enough. They only have to say that ‘Russia bad’ and ‘its all propaganda’. But there’s not even the hint of a denial. However, there’s this final quote which perhaps explains why our lot are so quiet (my emphasis):
“In particular, as indicated in the press bureau, the British Foreign Ministry recommended that Kiev take action to whitewash the image of the Ukrainian authorities and smooth out the negative consequences of “disclosure of torture of captured servicemen”.” (link, in Russian, machine translated)
Given the report yesterday about Johnson egging on Mr ‘e, to keep fighting, given the statements by Ben Wallace and Miz Truss, given the inadvertent evidence that the UK is more of a military participant and not quite the innocent bystander, I for one am inclined to believe this press release by the Russian equivalent of MI6.
Makes one proud to be British, doesn’t it … not!
Again something different, but since the Argentine is preposterously trying to suggest our “invasion” of the Falklands was as much an act of war as that of the Russians in the Ukraine; I thought I would mention here that when I saw Admiral west on GB TV tonight asked if we could still mount a task force to take them back, he pointed out.
” the British aircraft carriers had 72 support vessels available, now our carriers have only 18 available”
He also pointed out we had merchant vessels available to carry supplies and troops and “British Crews”, he thought you wouLd have a job persuading P&O’s imports to do it.
I believe I was left with the impression that we were “unlikely” to be able to do it.
Change of subject! I see this government and BOJO have now moved to heard immunity for adults like they should in the first place. However what parent would be destroying their childs immunity by allowing them to be jabbed.
One cannot make this up! I now do not use doctors as they are untrustworthy but rely on reading for info
Am I mistaken or is it only GB, ostensibly outside the EU actually. “doing the business” in training and supplying the Ukrainian Nazi forces or are the erstwhile United European army trading under one banner but keeping their heads below the parapet, but nevertheless playing their part in encouraging and subsidising that equally evil force (nb I don’t agree with the Russians invading, but the Ikraone and the West do have a few skeletons in the cupboard)
But at the end of it when an agreement is reached,it seems to me the rest of the EU will ‘forget and forgive’ and normal trading service will be resumed for the EU, but we will be out on a limb
Sounds about right Roger, not to worry though we are still riding the moral highground and are world leaders in B.S
Been AWOL for a while as I couldn’t get the comments box to work.
I despair. When the fog clears, we will -unless we’re very lucky and succeed in bringing in something better- see in place the fully fledged biosecurity state, complete with digital ID and Central Bank Digital Currency . plus a world polarised into blocs eg Russia and China, against whatever is left of the West. Not democratic self determining blocs but totalitarian blocs. Our only hope is to try to survive outside this rotten system.
…or somehow destroy it.
This is a conspiracy theory: We already have a self-appointed, unremovable world government in vitro.
Except it is not! They just met in Dubai. Preening themselves and each other.
Who knew? In fact, who knew this is their EIGHTH meeting!! Yet they present it as a necessary response to current events.
This is a bit wordy in parts, and Canada centred for obvious reasons, but worth watching for the chilling clips from this summit.
WORLD GOVERNMENT SUMMIT 2022 AND THE CONTINUATION OF THE COVID-19(84) NIGHTMARE…

Last time footage was released of a helicopter being shot down it turned out, like other clips, to have come from a video game.
I assume this was irony: “if a MoD ‘source’, anonymous as always, ‘believes’ this has happened then we have to accept it as truth.”
Since well before Covid (see Brexit, Climate nonsense, CRT, BLM, Immigration, etc.) all ethical standards in public life have been ditched. They are lying; we (well too few of us it seems) know they are lying; and they know that we know that they are lying. And they don’t care. If the good guys win, they can always try the old ‘end justifies the means’ excuse, except who, in this scenario, are the good guys?
Phil O’S. There is no integrity left, anywhere, in the world.
I have spent an excessive amount of time considering Mrs Hamilton on GB News last night, and her remorseless support of your average MP, who is of course conservative. So she joins and supports her husban in their destruction of the shredded remains of ukip and blocking any remaining right wing.
TG Spokes……As said yesterday in the absence of Reform UK which is a dead loss and UKIP which is apparently a sunken ship wreck, the only viable option open to those of us of a right of centre political persuasion is David Kurten’s Heritage Party. At least there is a full and well thought out manifesto of policies and in David Kurten it has a leader who wants to address the concerns of the majority rather than a one trick pony approach which Reform UK seems to have taken up.
Mostly agreed. I also quite like Kurten. However he needs to harness the enormous potential available. And being likeable and talking coherently is not enough. It’s all out there waiting but it’s not enough to be honest and true and whatever. That’s ten a penny. He has to be a leader, and that ,to be successful, is huge. Just saying it doesn’t cut it. People havto be dragged from their comfort zones. There have to be deals, and compromises etc. And it has to work, not hot air.
It is of course possible, but not likely, but I wish him well.
The war so far has been between poorly trained and motivated conscripts against well trained ultra nationalists. Napoleon said troop morale was worth 3 to 1 in troop numbers. Add in the West’s weapons and training thereon (ever since 2015), the satellite, navigation, and intelligence surveillance supplied by NATO, and Russia is the real underdog. The ultra nationalists, which are not just the Azov battalion, are ruthless. War Crimes, which western media make such hoopla over about Russia, are almost certainly being committed by Ukraine. The ‘news’ that comes out of Ukraine is doctored by western PR firms working with the Ukrainian foreign ministry. Western media used to focus on how ill behaved US and British troops were in Iraq and Afghanistan, but Ukraine is spared this sort of scrutiny. Oddest of all, is the silence of millions of smart phones. A few seem to post footage of Ukraine mistreatment of prisoners but remarkably little footage, quite generally, seems to get out. The West has been improving its control of the news ever since Vietnam getting better at it with each war. The techiques appear to have evolved to near maximal control now, something planned I suspect from the moment Russian troops began to build up on the border last November. After Minsk II it was Ukraine that broke the agreement with a significant increase in attacks on Donbass. The proposal for a federal Ukraine between its east and west was never accepted by the ultra nationalists, who beleive in ethnic cleansing, and even now Elensky still wants to dominate eastern Ukraine and still lays claim to Crimea. The West is supporting a corrupt, imperial regime of Ukrainian ultra nationalists. The war portrayed in our media is a fiction.
You sun it up well Stout Yeoman.
Agreed Lisa. S.Y. sums it up well.
Just one point I would add – don’t know about a Federal Ukraine. What about breaking it up into separate States according to ethnic origins? And/or let Russia take back the ethnic Russian parts?
Not that any of this is anything to do with us – the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland!
P.S. I’m saying ‘break it up’ or do this or that. I’m as guilty as anyone.
The People themselves should decide.
Viktor Medvedchuk, Ukrainian oppostion politician, currently under house arrest on ‘Elensky’s orders, advocated a federal structure after the Maidan revolution to solve the split between the two Ukraines. The response of the Ukraine parliament was a vote to remove Russian as one of Ukraine’s official languages. It’s as if Belgium removed one of French or Flemish. The utra nationalists have not sought reconcilitation with Russian speakers in the east at all. Medvedchuk’s proposal was intended to save Ukraine. Had he been listened to the current terrible mess might have been avoided. ‘Elensky is not offering to cede Donetsk or Luhansk in the peace talks and so the war continues.
