Our tax money is needed – for the Sacred Cow

 

They really cannot leave well alone – the MSM tribe of editors, journalists, experts and ‘sources’ they love to quote. Now that the Queen has been laid to her final rest, these special denizens of the Westminster swamp have come back with a vengeance. Just check out the print editions this morning report of Truss at the UN, accompanied by photos of her which make her look inane and stupid. You can relish them in the usual place (link) and I recommend scrolling down a bit to check out the one of her and Macron. Words fail me …!

However, if we remember that La Truss was Foreign Sec before she became elevated to No 10, the photos of her and the wannabe Napoleon provide a different meaning, especially when seen together with a headline in the DT, a headline just right for us dumb and emotional peasants: 

“King Charles chooses France for first state visit after bonding with Macron – It is understood the Foreign Office is keen to use the diplomatic power of the monarchy to build bridges with the country post-Brexit” (paywalled link)

Surely we have learned over the years that the monarch doesn’t ‘choose’ which country to visit but that the government does it because a visit by the monarch is meant to support current government policy. Lo and behold, we now learn that it’s not the government or PM but civil serpents who decide. Obviously , getting the FO ’bid’ in first, with the lovely, schoolgirlish phrase about ‘bonding’, means that the Remainers are back at work, nudging public opinion. 

Next, there are various announcements of what all the government will be doing. For example, they might go back to the pension triple lock even though this means more pensioners will have to pay income tax (paywalled link). There might be a possible interest rate rises which might ‘hammer’ all who need to pay mortgages (paywalled link). It’s all terrible! This paints a picture of a helpless country, tossing and turning on the waves of inflation. Apparently, we all must put up with this even while Truss has ‘promised’ another huge hand-out, of more £bn from our taxes, to the Ukraine. 

And right on cue, the Sacred Cow is handing in their demand for ‘moar money’. On the one hand, there’s the scare article in the DT, with a headline that is quite sufficient to frighten the nation:

“One in four people could be left without a GP within a decade, doctors claim – Staff shortages, heavy workloads and low patient satisfaction raises concern that the UK is ‘hurtling rapidly towards the end of the NHS’” (paywalled link)

It’s about giving the poor dears more money to ‘save the NHS’. That claim is supported by an opinion piece in The Times written by Professor Dame Helen Stokes-Lampard, chairwoman of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges: quail in front of this authority! Her article as well as the one in the DT are aimed at pre-empting the announcement tomorrow by the new DHSC Sec. It’s about getting the NHS retaliation in first. However, there’s a rather astonishing admission accompanying the demand for more funding:

“[…] despite a recent cash injection from the extra national insurance contributions the NHS is facing its first real-terms funding cut since 1997. That’s on top of having to find an extra £1.5 billion for inflationary pressures, £2 billion for the much needed extra pay award for staff and £300 million for the Covid testing costs that were previously met by the government.” (link, paywalled)

So there were no ‘austerity cuts’ in NHS budget during all those years? How interesting! Surely that eminent authority, professor dame etc, would know, correct? Still, even without cuts, the old melody is that the NHS has been ‘underfunded’ for years. Moreover, we’re told that Social Care has been underfunded for years. Thus more money is needed, e.g. to get rid of all those bed-blockers.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Social Care is in the hands of local councils which certainly in my neck of the woods have been ‘making savings’ in their social care budget while splashing money on vanity projects such as ‘festivals’ or in ‘nudging’ us onto our bikes by graciously splashing money on created more bike paths “because: Green!” Unsurprisingly, that lady demands an increase in funding local authorities to improve social care. We know what that means: more taxes, especially local council taxes.

While we peasants have to battle with inflation any way we can, the protected species, especially in the NHS, are having their ‘living cost crisis’ softened with more of our tax money. Odd, isn’t it, that none of the defenders of the Sacred Cow ask why we must hand out £bn supporting a warring country while our own are being impoverished at an accelerating rate. Instead, we get calls to abolish the Monarchy, not just for constitutional reasons but because they’re ‘filthy rich’. They ought to give everything to the NHS, oughtn’t they!

And so we get the first nudges, in reports that try using numbers to show that actually, “we” weren’t that interested in the Queen’s funeral. The Times tells us that, yes, 26m watched the service on their TVs, but  this was only “the biggest television audience since March 2020 when 27.1 million watched Boris Johnson announce strict coronavirus restrictions.” (link, paywalled). That was the time when we were exhorted to ‘protect the NHS’, so obviously “we” value that sacred cow more than the Royal Family.

This nudge was given another little shove by a report in the DT, that ‘only’ 250,000 had been going to the lying-in-state, fewer than those who went to see Churchill (paywalled link). Helpful comment posters pointed out that the ‘security arrangements meant a much slower flow of viewers and that ‘the authorities’ had done their utmost to keep the queues down, all for the sake of keeping people safe.

How well that worked out was shown by the attempt of the ‘coffin grabber’, as the DT labels him. Of course, that man’s excuse is that he thought the Queen was still alive, and that “Muhammad Khan had been suffering delusions and will remain in hospital until he has recovered enough to take part in proceedings” (paywalled link). Yet again we are being robbed of freedoms to ‘protect’ us from certain people who somehow are always delusional and suffering from psychiatric ailments. Perhaps the NHS needs even more money to deal with them? Nah – that would be racist. 

These ‘safety measures’ are really about keeping us, the people, especially the despised ‘white’ Brits in check. This was demonstrated for all to see: police facing the crowds, turning their backs on the processions accompanying the Queen, as Stout Yeoman mentioned in his comment yesterday. Compare and contrast with the images of soldiers lining the route, their back to the crowds, facing the procession. Was there any trouble? No. These images demonstrate that the authorities fear us, the people. Their use of heavily armed ‘police’ to police us is not just meant to show ‘the strength of the state’ but to frighten us into submission.

I leave you with the unbelievable news – only picked up by the DT – that paypal has closed the account of the Free Speech Union (paywalled link). Toby Young explains this in his report in the Daily Sceptic (link). Nice, isn’t it: this decision was being made while we were in State Mourning for the Queen. 

It has come to this: offending the transgender lot trumps Free Speech. Can we now expect that banks will refuse to accept payments as well, because Free Speech is only permitted for the licenced conglomerate of ‘sources’, ‘experts’ and ‘journalists’ who adhere to the ‘party line’, e.g.: ‘don’t offend the Sacred Cow’?

The outlook for us all has become even more grim.
